It's understandable that some people may not want to go through the hassle of writing extremely long applications in order to create a good character. So, to help make it easier on those of you who do not wish to go through that struggle, this post was created to give the new members more of a chance to figure out where, exactly, they desire to start. This is a public display of how applications are graded based on personal preference, though most other graders tend to follow this format, as well. It is important to make note of certain qualities of applications that may add a general boost to the overall application grade.
One of the greatest qualities is uniqueness. A discount is added when effort is put in to the other slots so long as the uniqueness standard of the application is high. The following information explains this concept more in detail with a bit of a numerical aspect so that it makes more sense to everyone, especially those who are just starting out. Before the uniqueness factor is explained, though, knowing how to obtain a desired Class and Rank from the get-go is a priority. Stat Points (SP) are awarded depending on what Class and Rank are given once the application has been graded and approved. The amount of SP awarded also depends on how much effort is put into the application, so more would be given to an application with a significantly higher amount of content. Also, keep in mind that this guide is generally for anyone who is not starting off as Training Tier (TT), but it is not only limited to them.
Also, even if you don't write a ton for your app or are unsure of how much you need, ask staff! They're going to be the ones grading and they'll be able to give you examples of apps that meet the criteria. That way, you have somewhat of an outline you can follow!
1. How To Obtain the Class and Rank You Want!
- Class 7 - This includes characters who may also be Unseated, Unranked, an Academy Student, etc. It is obtained by simply reaching the bare minimum. You only need to fill out what is required in the listed character application standards.
- Class 6 - At this Class, characters would still be Unranked or similar, so keep this in mind when adding more to your work. We would expect a bit more effort to be put into an app but still not much more.
- Class 5 - Some players might start to receive low ranks around here, such a low Seat or an exceedingly weak Numero. Try to add some more details and fluff descriptions a bit more!
- Class 4 - A Class 4 character would likely be someone who is a Fracción, a Seated Officer, or something similar. A Shinigami receives their Shikai and other races start to gain their own powers, as well. This means these power sections must be filled out and explained entirely.
- Class 3 - The character should be at the equivalent of a Vice Captain, a strong Fracción, or something comparable. We will expect a significant amount of writing and detailed explanations. Apps should go above the standard minimums.
- Class 2 - At Class 2, a character would be a weak Captain, a Low-Tier Espada, a Privaron Espada,or other Ranks that fall into a similar category. Some sections of an application may still be shorter than others so long as it is balanced out with a significant amount of effort in other areas.
- Class 1 - The character application must be particularly exceptional. That is only to be expected for someone who wants their character to begin at the highest available Class that someone can "app-into." The Rank would be something similar to a Captain, a High-Tier Espada, an Executive, or anyone equal to those titles. It can be difficult to get this Class without the uniqueness factor, so read the following regarding how to obtain that.
2. Complex Powers
Sometimes a super complicated ability is fun. Interweaving effects, that open up a variety of choices and possibilities when using the character. But please note that the more complex you make your characters ability, the more time will be required to grade it. Our staff are human too, and determining balance for incredibly complex abilities can be a time consuming process. This can mean that especially complex abilities may take months to grade because the grader needs to set aside appropriate time in order to fully understand your ability. Also note that the more complex your ability, the more likely it is the grader is to find complications or problems.
Common traits in complex abilities may include (but are not limited to):
-Alternate resource mechanics
-Alternate forms of damage
-requiring multiple paragraphs to explain what your ability does.
-Reference or synergizing with techniques or abilities not listed in the profile.
-excessive terminology specifically for discussing your power
-Stacking synergies within the technique
-Stat alterations
-Extremely steep drawbacks in exchange for extremely powerful effects.
Note that while the above list is not exhaustive, this is not to say that applications with one or more of these will be denied-- but it is advisable to avoid drawing from examples such as those above, to ensure an expedient grading for your application.
I hope this helps you in your app-making!
