Huh. So he blocked them. Whatever. Rio's attack had succeeded in shattering a lot of spears in the air, anyways. His thrust missed due to Magnus using Sonido, but Rio's physical senses detected the Septima behind him. Too naive! Rio had dealt with people trying to take his back before, especially people who were faster than him, and whom had access to Sonido. It didn't make one bit of difference to him! In fact, Rio had about half a dozen responses for something like that happening. In this case, he was going to fight fire with fire!
As Magnus began to throw the spears, Rio suddenly vanished with the sound of static in the air. His own Sonido. Whereto? The exact same place Magnus had picked. Behind his foe. However, Rio was a lot closer to Magnus than Magnus had been to him. Literally right behind his foe and immediately threw his arms around Magnus in a powerful bear hug from behind. Now. Bear hugs normally had about half a dozen counters. Unfortunately for Magnus, most of these counters involved the target having comparable levels of strength to the assailant. While some of them might still work, with the difference in their strengths, it would take considerably longer to do so.
Magnus might have even been able to put himself into a false sense of security. Perhaps he felt he knew what Rio was going to try and do with the bear hug. Rio had demonstrated his physical strength, so doubtlessly he was going to try and use his tremendous strength to crush Magnus in his grip, right? Well. No. Not actually. While Rio was easily capable of such an act, it was time consuming. And when dealing with someone who can fire Ceros, it's very risky. So Rio had a very different sort of plan in mind.
Magnus had seen that Rio could launch shockwaves with gestures. What he didn't know is that Rio didn't NEED the gestures to fire his shockwaves. Although less powerful and with a shorter range, Rio was capable of unleashing shockwaves from any part of his body without having to move it. He considered these unfocused shockwaves. More defensive than offensive. But they did have their offensive applications, as Magnus was about to learn the hard way.
The instant Rio grabbed Magnus in a bear hug, the Espada unleashed a full body shockwave, powerful waves of force erupting from every part of his body simultaneously. Now, normally this would have just knocked Magnus flying away from Rio, with perhaps a bruise or two. Unfortunately, because Rio was utilizing a bear hug, the shockwave would end up hitting Magnus from all directions at once, pinning him in place, and crushing him, due to having nowhere to be knocked back to. Rio had used this technique to kill one of his fellow Fraccion during his coupe against the former Sexta Espada, in his battle to claim the rank. Now, Magnus was considerably stronger than that Fraccion had been, so it was possible he might survive it. But he wouldn't be in good shape. If he made it through with only a few broken bones, he should consider himself lucky, as this move risked crushing organs as well, from the immense pressure. Even making it through while maintaining consciousness would be considered a tremendous feat!
