Name: Cassidy's Hollow Ranch
Description: Found and founded in the good old American State of Montana, yeehaw, is a large plot of land, surrounded by both natural barriers, and ten foot tall fencing, with no end to the amount of 'Private Property, do not enter' signs littered about. There is only one road that leads into the ranch, and that road takes you to the main buildings of the ranch. There's the house, a three story home with plenty of room on the inside, with a three door garage attached to it. Then there's the office, a smaller building meant for more official business. And lastly the lab, a larger building with a few basements filled with more equipment and medical devices than most would know what to do with.
The land itself is large and expansive, and would take most people weeks to see every portion of it on foot. Which is why each area has a section of dirt road leading to it, and several cars to dive with. There are four main areas, besides the buildings. The first and most notable are the mountains. A large ridge of rocky hills that most climbers would have a blast traversing. These are easily a few thousand feet, the largest reaching seven thousand in height. The mountains have many nests carved into them, often by those species who prefer to have the altitude advantage over the silly land animals that need to walk.
Next is the lake. This is a large body of water, artificially made deeper at its lowest. The water is crystal clear, and filled with a rich ecosystem of fish. The lake is three thousand feet at its widest, not perfectly circular, looking perfectly natural to the landscape.
Next is the fields that separate the two. This is the second largest area, and is mostly just a flat area of land. The grass is tall, and if one were to look past it, they would find no end to the burrows and dens dug out and hidden by the foliage. There are more than a few natural roads made by animals, either to the lake, or to the last area, the forests.
The forest is the largest area, surrounding and framing the entirety of the ranch. With trees taller than buildings, the landscape is uneven and foreboding. The trees and shrubbery are thick enough to obscure most anything, preventing you from seeing more than three layers in. Anything could be hiding in there.
Each area has a observation tower, and an emergency building. Each are stocked with provisions, beds, and radios to contact the main house, or any of the other buildings.
Class: N/A
Item Type: Base
Item Power (IP): 1,200
Offense Type: N/A
Durability: 12,000
Bonuses: All of the buildings were made more with the intent of protecting the users from the main feature of the Ranch; the animals. Each building reduces the damage taken from attacks by 75% of the building's IP. Should an attack be strong enough to deal damage to the building, the IP will be lowered by 1/10th the damage taken. Damage past the threshold applies as per normal item rules.
The mountains are filled with flying monstrosities, from hollows, to Hellions, to even Beast Clan. The mountain residents are often fast, with very good eyesight, spying down below at nearly all hours of both day and night. The average creature here has 200 strength, 400 speed, 300 senses, and 100 in every other stat. These are the average, and not hard set between each creature that resides there. Skills vary, but they usually come with a 2 in a fighting style, and a 2 in Anti-Stealth and Focused eye, with three random body skills with 1 in them.
The lake is filled with fish, as well as aquatic monsters. The waters run deep here, hitting a thousand feet at its deepest, filled with underwater caverns. The monsters here are strong and fast, but usually don't do well outside the water. They typically boast 300 in strength and speed, with 300 senses, but only 50 in all other stats. They usually carry a 2 in stealth, and 1 in two other skills. They are near impossible to see when below two hundred feet.
The plains are where the more alert prey creatures are. Those who, while not confident in their individual skills, work very well in packs. To date, five packs have been spotted around the vast area. These typically have 200 in strength and speed, with 300 senses and instinct, with 100 in all other stats. They carry a skill known as Teamwork, boosting combat skills by 1 for every five packmates fighting, reduced by 1 for every point in it. This is usually at 2, along with War Strategy. They usually have a 1 in Crafting, and two other skills.
The forest is by far the scariest place to find yourself in. The creatures here are very good at hiding, and love to go in for fast kills. The usual monsters here only have a 100 in strength, but have an impressive 500 speed, as well as 100 in all other stats. They boast a 2 in Stealth, but usually have 1 in two other skills. They are very good at hiding, and losing sight of one means it is very hard to find them a second time.
Each location has two creatures that stand at the top, either the most powerful, the most intelligent, or the most well adapted to their environment.
The Mountains have what the owners call 'Abigail', a eight foot harpy woman beast clansman, who usually lurks around the tops of the eastern mountains. She hunts the prey in the plains, bringing them back to her nest. She's gained notoriety with the researchers due to totaling three cars with her attacks on them. She has an impressive 300 strength, 600 speed, 300 senses, 150 instinct, and 50 in all other stats. She has a 3 in Anti Stealth, a 3 in Focused Eye, a 2 in Quick Strike fighting style, and a 2 in Cold Tolerance. Researchers have noticed that her legs seems to be immune to Cutback.
Another troublesome fellow lurking by the mountains is a strange creature, looking almost like a baby seal, named tiny. This appears to be a hollow of some sort, initially named as such by an intern named Carol, who had thought it as smart idea to pick up the, at the time, three inch hollow. After tranquilizing the beast, and recovering what little they could scavenge of Carol's shriveled up husk, they put a tracker on it, and monitored it from there. Its feeding habits appear to be that of an ambush predator, biting and latching onto prey, and then drinking their bones, along with anything else under their skin. It has 600 speed, 600 speed, 300 instinct, and 50 in all other stats. It has an unusually tough hide, covered in white fur, able to shrug off attacks, much like a Heirro with its strength.
Of the lake, there resides a massive creature, barely visible under the water's surface. It is longer than any living creature has any right to be, with researchers unable to confirm a maximum size for it. It also has them stumped on what the darn thing actually is, but their best guess is that its a Hellion of some kind. The betting pool is leaning towards Hason, but no one knows for sure. The beast was first found by a diving team, taking stock on how the native animals are holding up, when someone found... it. No one can remember who came up with the name, but officially, it has been named 'Anantashesha', to those who can say it, and to everyone else, it's just the Eel. The Eel rarely moves, and its unique features make it impossible to observe it for long periods of time, but it is a powerhouse. 800 strength and speed, as well as ES, with 50 in all other stats. It is unknown if it has any skills. Those who enter its waters tend to find their memories attacked, diluted, until their minds are destroyed by whatever terrible effects it does to the thinking mind.
Closer to the surface, a different predator lies in wait. Often found buried in the mud and clay, the hollow named 'Jellyflies' waits for those of the mountains to try and snatch an easy meal from the water. This is a large jellyfish, with numerous stinging tentacles under a translucent white cap. It has the unique ability to make its limbs change appearance, usually mimicking fish, but as poor Herald found out, things that the prey desires. Like half-naked mermaids. The limbs are sticky, both keeping you stuck to the tentacle, as well as zapping you with electric neurotoxin. It has a strength of 600, a speed of 200, and strangely an ES of 1,000, with a 50 in all other stats. It has a two in Analysis, and a two in Stealth. Only once has it been witnessed that something stuck to it has managed to get unstuck. When the bird managed to break away from it, the darn thing broke through the surface of the water, and flew, yes flew two hundred feet into the air, chasing after it. The bird did not escape.
Then there's Queen Ant, the beast clan. We really have to stop letting the interns name things. She rules over the in-between section of the plains, where the Mountain, Lake, and Forest all meet. This area covers no less than five hundred feet on the surface, and who knows how far underground. Her existence was mostly speculation, upon seeing the large anthills that popped up, but it was never confirmed. The prairie dog beast clans, as well as the nearby hollow camps were both in the middle of the plains territory, and had a tendency to raid the ants, as well as the demon cows and the wolf pack on the other side of them. On one particularly vicious siege, the prairie dogs had began to swarm into the tunnels of the ants, and that's when she showed up. A massive ant burst from the ground, easily forty feet in height, looking a demon in black armor. She ate the invaders and ants alike, grabbing the closest things to her, either crushing and eating them, or spraying an acid that dissolved her victims. She easily had 800 strength, 400 speed, but seemed to be lacking in other areas, with maybe 100 in the other stats. Her armor prevented her from taking damage, and once she calmed down, the other ants followed her pointing fingers, forcing the invaders into a retreat. She's speculated to have a 3 in Teamwork, and 3 in War Strategy.
While social creatures do take up most of the space in the Plains, they too have their predators. This one lurks the Plains, but lives in a cave at the base of the Mountains. The team is pretty certain its a Hason, looking like some kind of mutant dinosaur. Standing on par with the Ant Queen, this thing has long arms, wicked claws, and huge horns, with the body of a T-Rex. We didn't name it at first, didn't even see it at first even, until the darn thing blindsided us in the car. Fung the car half a mile with how hard we were hit, breaking instantly. We're pretty sure that was an intentional move, as it forced us to run back to the Emergency buildings. Jeffry and Escobar ended up trapped in the car. We had to abandon them. We could have sworn it was laughing as it peeled open the metal like a soda can. Only three of us made it back. It took its time, and started tearing apart the building, almost thrashing against the walls as it did so. It kept it up for hours, and the building wasn't holding. It got Steve through the walls, he wasn't fast enough. Jerry and I were the only ones left, and it was leering at us through the holes it made. Then the thing cried out in pain, as a shotgun blast took out its knee. It roared, but a second shot hit its face. It whimpered in pain as it ran from a four foot tall loli. It had a Strength of 1,000, a speed of 600, and very little else, with 50 in its other stats. It has a Stealth of 1, as well as Battle Analysis of 2. Now it wanders the plains, one eye with a lame leg that it drags around as it digs through the nests of the other Plains dwellers. We've named it 'Captain Kneecapped'.
The forest is filled with hundreds of different natural animals, and things that prey on them. One of them is Vlad. Unlike most of the other things in this place that most would say is Hell on Earth, Vald is the nicest thing here. Vlad is a large Bat Beast Clansman, standing five feet tall, and is friendly with the researchers. Vlad goes around, hunting small insects and birds, and doesn't harm anyone. Ask Jimmy! Vlad and Jimmy hang out all the time. Like Or like Paul, who hangs out with Vlad all the time. Or Sara, who hangs-Vlad is not what he seems. Vlad is fifteen feet tall, and looks to be an Akki. It has the power of either illusions or pheromones, tricking people into following it to its lair. It feed on emotions and souls, keeping its prey alive, feeding on them for days, or even weeks. We barely got Casandra out of there. We're pretty sure the others are still alive, but Vlad moved them. Run if you see them. They have a speed is 600, with a strength of 200, but their instinct is strong enough to suppress the wills of others, sitting at 800, but those are the only things we know for certain. Speculation leads to desires to join him in the Forest, and thus, talking about him after meeting him is forbidden.
Finally, in a place filled with those who rely on sneaking up and killing you in one hit, being too difficult to kill can make you feared. And this guy is feared for more than just health reasons. Our Shotnyan-loving loli is deranged and insane, because, as far as we can tell, she stole a baby panda right out of one of China's zoos. We all thought it was dead. We all wanted to help it, but no one more than Patrick. We told him not to, that it wasn't a part of our job, but nooo, why listen to the biologists with thirty years of experience? Why ignore your four years of college classes? No, screw that, playing with the baby panda was more important! The betting pool switched from the panda dying, to Pat dying. But surprise surprise, neither of them did! In fact, Pat seemed to regress, turning feral, while the panda, Pat named it Po, grew at an exponential rate. It took three week, that was it! Now Pat looks like a caveman, and Po is fifty feet tall! It was just a regular panda! We're sure the two are linked, somehow, and hunt in a pair. Pat has what appears to be 300 strength, 800 speed, 150 instinct, and what appears to be 50 in all other stats. Po, meanwhile, has 600 strength, 300 speed, and matches Pat in all other stats. They too have a strange Teamwork Skill, sitting at 2, with a Feral Fighting sitting at 3. Pat, you moron.
Now, seeing all this, you might ask yourself, 'why don't these things just leave?' And that has two very simple answers. One, they're already in the best place to hunt or live. Where else will they get food? Where else will they settle down and hunt? The second, easier to accept answer, is the forcefield. All around the property, there are nodes that create an invisible cage over and under the lands in a perfect sphere. Entering is rather easy, only needing to hop the fence to get in. Getting out, however, is much harder. In order to brute force your way out, you would need an OS 50% higher than the IP of the Ranch, or permission to leave through the front gate from the owner. This includes techniques and items that open portals. How else would you trap hollows and Hellions here? Portal abilities don't work while inside the cage, should they not be strong enough. ES higher than the IP of the base is required to sense past the cage, while an illusion prevents those with anything less than the IP in Senses from noticing anything strange. This goes down by 200 per point in Illusion Resist. The fencing follows the same damage rules as the buildings, but starting at 1,200 rather than 800.
The owner of this base can add monstrosities at their leisure, should they get their hands on them, IE NPC's can be created and added should they feel the need. Npc's, be they the ones mentioned above, or ones created later, can be used for fights without the cost to use them, should the opponents be in the correct location. Any of the above mentioned Npc's can be created without cost, up to class 4 Rank 2, with 10 techniques. These will not count against their max Npc's.
Drawbacks: This is a location. Invade at your own risk.
Cost: 200,000
