The cracked sandstone ground sizzled beneath the beating heat of the sun. Of course, this was a completely normal day in Death Valley. It was an inhospitable and desolate desert that only the most hardy of creatures could endure. Yet even among the dunes and mountainous ranges of the Valley, there was respite. Dozens of caverns littered the mountains that dotted the desert. These were quiet resting spaces for travelers to escape the brutal heat and yet, they would be host to the most unlikely of guests.
Time after time, a loud shout filled the hollow cave systems. "Aiyahhh!!!" The source of these cries? The Captain of the Tenth Division, Celes Shindazu. With sweat rolling down her brow, hair shrouding her shoulders messily, and quickly sucking in breaths of air, the Captain felt little relief in the caves of the desert. That didn't deter her though as another loud warcry escaped the Captain's lips as her fist crashed against the stone wall.
For today's training, given the conditions, Celes wore quite a different outfit. Instead of the usual shihakusho and haori combination that Captains of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads were known for wearing, Celes' chest was wrapped by a tight cotton cloth. It hung close to her skin and compressed her chest. This binding was known as a sarashi. The Shinigami also wore a form-fitting pair of white gi pants. Several bandages were layered and wrapped around her arms and hands as well. Most notable, however, was the black imprint of a daffodil that peeked out above the sarashi.
Celes took a few more hasty breaths and bit her lip. "Can't stop now. Gotta keep pushing..." Once more, Celes stepped to the stone wall and began to let out a flurry of punches. Each one crashed against the wall but did nothing to crack it. Celes' eyes briefly flashed towards her Zanpakutō which rested idly against the wall. She growled to herself, "Damn you... Her punches began to pound harder against the stone. "You took her away from me... The Shinigami continued to speed up. "You're gonna pay, monster!"
A final punch came pounding against the wall as her voice echoed throughout the cavernous depths. She took a few deep breaths and sighed. Small drops of blood began to drip from her bruised hands. Her mind focused on a mental image of Yunorashi. An image of the young, silver-haired Zanpakutō Spirit smiling at her. This once soothing image, however, twisted into a look of anguish and misery. Celes closed her eyes and groaned, tightening her bloody fist even more. "I swear, Yunorashi... I will avenge you..."
Her attention shifted as she thought of her target. Yunorashi's killer, her Inner Hollow. Her mental image of Yukito had been replaced with a towering shadowy figure. It had crimson red eyes, wild hair, and a malevolent air about it. Despite not being real, Celes felt unsettled by it. Accompanying this feeling was the shrill sound of a disembodied voice that yelled, "̵̟̎C̸͎͌ě̶̗l̵̈́͘e̶̳͐̔ŝ̷͚.̴̣̓.̴̫̤͂". The last words of Yunorashi rocked Celes to her core and briefly shocked her system. She screamed at the top of her lungs, "HYAHHH!!!" Her fist crashed against the rock face as several cracks shot out from the force of the impact.
Description: The Denryokuseigen Limiter is a technique that has many forms and variations across many different factions and entities. The most well known version of this technique exists as part of the Gotei 13’s general regulations for its strongest members. While different factions have different Limiters and some individuals may even develop or have developed specific Limiters for their individual reiatsu level, the concept behind them is the same. The Denryokuseigen Limiter is used to either forcibly seal the power level and offensive strength of an individual in order to limit the chance of collateral damage, or it is used voluntarily to assist those who may travel to heavily populated or other protected areas in limiting their strength.
Generally the seal itself is unable to be detected save for those with at least 300 ES, unless it is in the process of being unlocked or has been unlocked entirely. The seal, when active, limits an individual’s offensive power while retaining their durability. Strength is limited for the purpose of striking power and kinetic motion, but is not limited for the purpose of physical durability. Speed is affected by limiting both physical speed and speed otherwise enhanced by abilities and step techniques. Reiatsu Strength is limited by affecting the intensity and magnitude of an individual’s spiritual techniques, but does not prevent them from utilizing techniques that would require a certain amount of RS to perform - they simply perform a substantially weaker version. Limitations on Spiritual Pressure affect the ability to exert Gravitational Pressure on the user’s surroundings and the ability to use Cutback offensively, but does not affect one’s natural Cutback potential. Limiters generally do not affect sensory stats at all.
How to Use: All Denryokuseigen Limiters consist of three parts and are spiritual in nature. The first part of the Limiter is the frame of the seal. This usually takes the form of a shape, generally a square or a circle, but it may be any frame. The second section of the seal is referred to as its ‘chain’ or ‘lock’. This often takes the shape of a series of lines crossing the frame. The number of lines generally determines the overall strength of the seal and how many ‘stages’ one must go through in order to fully unseal themselves, but not always. Some individuals may break through all of the chains of the Limiter at once, and other seals may be substantially more durable. The final section of the seal is its core - this is the section of the seal that effectively holds the sealed power of the individual.
Each level of the seal is released with a command phrase - usually Kaijo (Releasing). Depending on the seal itself, it may be released in stages or all at once.
Drawbacks: There are generally no drawbacks that come with releasing a limiter seal that has been placed on an individual, though the effect it has on the user’s surroundings may be disastrous, especially if they were sealed in order to improve their self-control or to limit collateral damage. Some factions may impose limiters onto their members and reckless unsealing of their limiter may result in other faction-specific punishments (I.E. Reprimanding and punishment for a Shinigami Captain or Vice Captain for recklessly unsealing their limiter).

"Stupid heat. Stupid Hell Beasts. Stupid sun." Kitai wiped what felt like a gallon of sweat off his brow with his shirt sleeve. He had arrived at the heart of Death Valley after several hours of hiking, and boy did he regret that so very much. He had never gone hiking when he had been alive, and death had a way of making you want to try things you've never done before. He had figured that it wouldn't be all too difficult a thing to do; after all, people did hiking for fun all the time, why not give it a try?
"SCREW YOU NATURE! I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!" He yelled up to the sky, waving his hand in the air, before slumping back down. He was walking at a sluggish pace, scouting out the place for a possible future encounter with a hated enemy. Yes, he is being vague, isn't he? Regardless, he was liking what he was seeing. The landscape was full of jagged terrain, sweltering heat, and not a cloud to be seen for miles. People avoid the area, for good reason, and giant opponents would likely not enjoy trying to slither around here. It was a pretty good location if he wanted to hinder something that enjoyed water.
"Still, the ground is more rock than dirt. It isn't going to absorb water very well. Hopefully it can't summon water." Kitai was talking to himself, thinking aloud as it were. He loathed the quiet, and there were few animals making noise in a hundred twenty degree temperatures. On the plus side, it was a dry heat, so he wasn't choking to death on humidity. On the downside, he felt like he was soaked to the bone with sweat. He raised a thermos, taking a long swig of it, before letting out a satisfied sigh. "At least the rootbeer is always cold."
Then he started hearing something that he could recognize on even his worst day. The sounds of combat were like music to his ears, as he turned to start walking towards the violence. Did he know why someone would decide to pick a fight in the middle of the desert? Well yes, but no. He had a good reason for wanting to fight here, but these guys were clearly nutty for doing the same. But worse. Either way, it took him but a few minutes to find a good hill to overlook the battle. He plopped himself down on the elevated rock, and watched the fight.
Sadly, there was no fighting to be had. It seems that some green-haired woman was training here, wailing on a rock wall with what he assumed was all her strength. He'd say he was impressed, if he couldn't remember a time when he had been that strong. Heck, stronger even, given that the wall was still standing. He could hear her talking to herself, but whether those were motivational words to give her the strength to keep punching the wall, or if she was just crazy, he couldn't tell, given the distance. He waited, sitting on the rock, one leg crossed over the other, with one arm resting on it, holding his head up.
After she finished, giving the rockface one last punch with a mighty yell, he waited for her to catch her breath before announcing himself. "Let me guess!" He yelled out to her, hopefully grabbing her attention. "Your boyfriend dumped you, and you can only express yourself through violence?" He clapped his hands, and pointed a finger at her. "Maybe you tripped on a rock and decided to take revenge by murdering its father! Did you decide to come out here to murder Granny Granit?" He pointed double finger guns at her now, waving them up and down, with his eyepatch making it look almost like a wink.
"Oh! Or maybe you're out here because you were too weak to do anything against the Hell invasion, and are beating yourself up for being useless, and losing a captain to your inability to stop the Hellion leaders from destroying the Soul Society?" His hands were on his knees, as he leaned his body forward. There was a large grin on his face, it had been there for some time. He couldn't see her perfectly, but he could see a sword with her things, and he was pretty sure he had seen her green hair back during that whole fiasco.

Ever since the Captain lost her closest companion, Yunorashi, she had some difficulty controlling her emotions. While she had been struck by grief most of the time, Celes found that she had been much quicker to anger. She had grown more impulsive. More violent. These changes, once subtle, grew more and more pronounced as the days went on. All of this culminated in a burning hatred of her Inner Hollow. She trained to beat her Inner Hollow to a pulp and make them suffer as she did.
She had been at this for quite a while, proven by her sarashi that was saturated in bright red blood. Before she had time to go and mutilate her body further the Captain heard a voice in the distance. Let me guess! Your boyfriend dumped you, and you can only express yourself through violence?" "Alright, whose the damn loudmouth?!, Celes thought to herself as she turned her head and gave the source an incredulous look.
Before she could even say anything, another barrage came her way. "Maybe you tripped on a rock and decided to take revenge by murdering its father! Did you decide to come out here to murder Granny Granit?" Her eyes narrowed as she stared at this newcomer. Already, his silver hair and the scars that covered his face made him stand out. Aside from that was his wide, shit-eating grin. Celes scoffed for a moment. "Huh. He seems rather familiar..." She studied him for a few more moments as she tried to figure out where she had seen him before.
Then there it was. A third insult. "Oh! Or maybe you're out here because you were too weak to do anything against the Hell invasion, and are beating yourself up for being useless, and losing a captain to your inability to stop the Hellion leaders from destroying the Soul Society?" Celes blinked briefly which quickly turned into a scowl. Suddenly, it all clicked. "Now, I remember you! Kitai Yoru."
The Saika had participated in the Hell invasion and had helped Soul Society fend off both Orobas and Alastor. At the time he was wearing the guise of a fellow Captain, Kyomei Kuchiki. Despite seeming to be an asset, Celes knew better. The Captain often peered through the Bingo Book to assess what potential threats were waiting to lash out. At the top of the food chain, listed under a SSS bounty, was Kitai. He had been known for various invasions upon Soul Society among other factions. Needless to say, he was fickle!
In a moment of lucidity, Kitai's words cut deeper than Celes initially gave him credit for. She grimaced as Kitai had clearly struck a nerve. She focused on him and closed her eyes, extending her consciousness. She felt the embers of hellish reiatsu that emanated from him, but she couldn't get an exact feeling. Actually, in some ways, Kitai felt relatively unimpressive. As she opened her eyes though, Celes would be quite taken aback by what she saw.
Kitai remained but a fierce ocean had formed behind him. The mighty waves crashed around him violently. As Celes looked out upon the horizon, this ocean seemed practically neverending. It was overwhelming. What kind of power did this man command? One blink later and the vast ocean had disappeared. Sweat rolled down her brow and she perspired. Instinctively, Celes shifted along the wall and grabbed hold of her Zanpakutō. She muttered to herself softly, "Calm down, damn it. I'm a Captain of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads."
She steeled herself. She wasn't going to allow this Hellion to get away with that quick-talking silver tongue of his. Placing one hand on the corner of her torso, Celes focused her reiatsu. She stared at Kitai intently and spoke, "You like to talk alot and make jagged remarks, huh? You hellions are all the same. She drew her hand to the side as the inky black tattoo of a daffodil began to disappear layer by layer.
This mark, known as a Denryokuseigen, was used to restrict the flow of power of high-ranking Officers. Celes had originally opted into it for fear of Yukito taking over, but she was upset at Kitai. The ominous feeling of his power combined with his ranking demanded Celes' full attention. As the last layer disappeared, a small burst of spiritual energy emanated from the Captain. She bent her knees slightly and pointed the tip of her blade toward Kitai, her other hand gripping her forearm.. "You all are forever damned to Hell so you can't truly die, right? So if I rough up you here, I don't have to have you on my conscious..." She wouldn't quite make a move, but the Captain would take deep and elongated breaths. Several breaths that gave her focus and filled her core with mystical energy.
Technique Description and Effects: The user gains 1 stack of Breath, and can have up to 10 Breath stacks at a time. Up to once per post, the user may spend 1 stack of Breath to purge 20% of a debuff to one of their stats or spend 5 stacks of Breath to reduce the recovery time from being winded due to a stamina rule by 1 post. When used to recover more quickly from Stamina use, Spirit Breathing functions only once every 3 posts.
When this technique is Proficient, the user may trade up to 2 Breath stacks per post to purge stat debuffs. When this technique is Mastered, the user may trade up to 3 Breath stacks per post to purge stat debuffs.
How to use technique: Apply the basic concepts of proper breathing to the user's spiritual body, inspiring into the spirit and expiring into the self.
Technique Drawbacks: Reiatsu cost. Breathing takes time; this technique can be performed no more than twice per post, plus a number of times equal to the user's skill ranks in Blessed Breath Contemplation.

"Now, I remember you! Kitai Yoru." Kitai gave Celes five good claps. "Give the girl a prize! She remembers a person she never met! How do you know who I am?" He yelled back, sounding like the announcer of a gameshow at the beginning, but then trailing off to confusion, cupping his chin, rubbing it in the way a famous detective used to do. Or at least his sidekick. Was he famous in the Soul Society? I guess he had to be, given he had kicked down their doors and invaded them two and a half times, so he guessed it was possible. He didn't think they had gotten any pictures of his face though.
She definitely looked on edge; she was extremely tense, and looked rather worried. Was she not as strong as he was expecting? He supposed she wasn't actually that good at fighting. You could be strong and weak at the same time, and maybe she was in that boat. Eh, either way, he was sure she would have some talent for overwhelming violence, otherwise she wouldn't be a Captain, or wouldn't have the ability to pulverize mountains as easily as she was. The last strength-based fighter was Rio the Espada, and he was very fun to fight. He nearly died too!
Oh, he had to pay attention, she was talking again. She was comparing him to other Hellions. How rude! He was way better than those other monsters, who just follow their baser instincts and do whatever it is they want. "Wait, no, there's more to it." He says, not wanting to acknowledge her words as true. "Those guys mostly commit evil deeds. While I produce weapons and am basically the biggest arms dealer in the spiritual world, and in some parts of Atlantis ..." Kitai pondered harder, almost looking like smoke was pouring out of his ears in an attempt to figure out how he was different from your average Hellion.
He was tapping his chin as she prattled on, only half listening to her as he thought, and then it clicked! "Ah ha!" He pointed at her. "I'm different because, I actually managed to save two captains in your invasion, and beat back that Akki with a single kick!" He looked triumphant at his declaration. Then his brows furrowed in anger, eye narrowing in rage. "I will not be damned to Hell forever! I will break free of these, if its the last thing I do!" He leapt down from his perch, putting him on even ground with her.
"And the reason I'm going to be free, is because I'm actually going out and looking for anything to destroy them." He started walking towards her. "I've invaded the Soul Society for artifacts to break them. I've invaded Hueco Mundo to find whatever they have to break them. I've combed through the Black Markets to see if that cesspool has anything down there to break them! And they did." He says, admitting that he actually had a means to free himself right now. "But that method is annoying, and I kind of want to be human instead of a Hollow, but whatever. You get my point!" He said, waving a hand around as he got closer.
Darkskill level 1: 5,500 Total Reiatsu Remaining: 14,500/20,000 Out of Hell Posts: 37/100 1/3
{Dark Skill Level 1 Property:} [The first stage of his release allows him to create gigai-like bodies for him to enter and use as he sees fit. In order to create a body, Kitai must spend 25% of his current reiatsu, but must spend at least 250 in order to use the technique. The strength and durability of the bodies is based off the amount of reiatsu Kitai has used during the thread. For every 100 reiatsu Kitai has used in the thread, it will increase the strength, speed, and durability by 10. Each body comes with a 300 to start in all three of these stats. If the user has physical stats higher than the base 300, their starting physical stat or stats will be changed to that higher number. The highest the physical stats the body can have 1000.
The strength of the body is a sort of false one. While the bodies themselves are strong, it is merely a tool, not truly living so to speak. While a real body would be able to handle such strength and speed, this one cannot. And like all tools, they have a breaking point. Those wearing the body will find themselves unable to use main benefits that high physical stats would normally grant. The benefits of having high strength are forever lost to the user, unless they already had them before putting on the Gigai.
Much like a tool, once the body uses too much power, it begins to quickly wear out. The max output a body can use varies on the user. The bodies are based on the user, and thus match their max potential, even if the bodies themselves should be stronger. A user with 50 strength or speed, can only ever make the bodies reach 150 strength or speed. If someone had 400 in strength or speed, they would be able to bring out the full potential of the bodies, and reach 1000 in either stat.
However, like any machine, running at full power causes a reaction in the bodies. The body, and by extension the user, have no issues with stamina of any kind after this point, never running out after it breaks its limits for the first five post, using a sort of Hysterical Strength to force itself to keep going. After the five posts will drain stamina like normal. Normally a body can last indefinitely, but for every post the user pushes their physical stats past their limits no further than double their base stats, it drains a post, while over that pushes it by two posts. The body has ten of these posts before it dies, ejecting the user of it from the maimed corpse. Hitting 1000 in either stat will cost the bodies two posts, regardless of the the user's base stats.
The creation of the body is instant, forming around Kitai if he so chooses, or in his hand. Bodies can be exited at any time the wearer pleases. The only oddities that make the body stand out from normal humans is that the first stage of a Dark Skill will still shine through, and the chains on their soul will still appear on the new body, but otherwise, the body will be have an appearance of whatever Kitai wishes it to look like. Size of the bodies follows the strength rules for sizes.
So long as the body is worn, Hell has a much harder time finding him. For every three posts that a Saika is in the body, the count on the duration of his escape will go down by one for every three posts they make. Can start a thread with a body for an additional 500 reiatsu of the base cost, without activating his dark skill. Any damage the body takes is not fully transferred to him. Damage is reduced by fifty percent, and attacks that would kill the body will eject the soul before it can be damaged too much. Fatal damage done to the body will be reduced to the point of just barely avoiding death. The body cannot heal via the normal Saika regeneration, but his soul underneath is still able to. The healing done to the soul will not transfer to the body. Once he exits a body, the stats will be reset to how it was before he entered the body. After a body is destroyed or dies, it goes onto a three post cooldown before he can create another one. This does not count as a stat boosting technique. If a body is healed, Kitai will not be healed.

It seemed that Kitai took issue with Celes' broad brush stroke. To combat this, the Hellion began to rattle off ways in which he was different. He was an arms dealer... he wasn't truly evil... blah blah blah. Celes eventually just rolled her eyes. Eventually, however, he'd get her attention once more. "I'm different because, I actually managed to save two captains in your invasion, and beat back that Akki with a single kick!", earning a scoff from Celes. It was true that he had arrived to rescue Senshi and yet Celes was the only other Captain at the scene. Her eye twitched a little as she thought to herself, "Does this bastard really think I'm a joke?!"
Despite her burning annoyance, she couldn't refute that Kitai had practically crippled Alastor in a single blow. It was a testament to Kitai's power, but Celes was no slouch. She stood her ground and made her threat against Kitai. The grin suddenly disappeared and the Hellion's eyebrow furrowed. I will not be damned to Hell forever! I will break free of these, if its the last thing I do! The Captain couldn't help, but smirk somewhat. "Awwe. Did I hit a tender spot?", Celes asked mockingly as if she was talking to a child. It was somewhat cathartic to take out all of her pent-up anger on Kitai.
Shortly after, the Hellion got up from his perch and dropped to the sandy-covered floor. "And the reason I'm going to be free, is because I'm actually going out and looking for anything to destroy them." Then... Kitai proceeded to approach her. Celes raised an eyebrow and continued pointing her blade at the Hellion. "He's... approaching me? Either he's clueless or he's mocking me... Either way. I should be careful. As Kitai continued to talk, Celes' eyes briefly scanned her environment to look for anything to take advantage of.
I've invaded the Soul Society-..." After a few moments, the terrain yielded very little. The cavernous region provided some stalactites, rocks provided some cover, and the greater desert of Death Valley provided little room to hide. After her assessment, she tuned back into Kitai just in time to catch the tail end of his motivations.-the Black Markets to see if that cesspool has anything down there to break them! And they did. Celes' eyes widened for a moment. "Did I hear him correctly? He's found a way to break his chains?!
It was common knowledge that the chains of hell were the mark of sin. Based on Kitai's efforts, the Captain could infer that the hellish chains were supernaturally durable. Otherwise, someone of Kitai's ability likely wouldn't need anything besides brute force to sever the chain. Just what had been found in the Black Market that could allow him to break free? While Celes was intrigued, she was also leery. Souls that are cast into hell aren't condemned without reason. They were forever bound to the realm of Hell. If they were permitted to run around freely, the results could prove disastrous.
Returning her focus to Kitai, Celes noted that he had drawn even closer. "But that method is annoying, and I kind of want to be human instead of a Hollow, but whatever. You get my point!" She scowled at him, practically staring daggers. Before losing Yunorashi, Celes might've been willing to listen. After all, Rose was a decent person even if they were cursed with a demonic heritage. However, Kitai had done nothing but insult her honor. More than that, Celes felt something rumbling in the depths of her soul. A voice, which after a few moments, sounded clear as day to her.
"Show him our strength, Celes. Cast him back into the depths of Hell!"
"Assemble, Honegumi Gassō." The sand beneath Celes' feet began to shift slightly as the sandstone cracked. As reiatsu expelled from her body in small bursts, her longsword glowed a brilliant ruby red. Slowly, but surely, the reddish glow began to break down her Zanpakutō as the icy blue blade vanished. That same reddish glow instead carried over to Celes, shrouding her entire body in its crimson light. Suddenly, something began to form within this shroud.
Red, bone-like structures twisted into being and surrounded Celes. The ribcage that had formed around the Shinigami then began to mold and shape itself further. Widening and stretching into something much more akin to a torso, the ghostly apparition formed a pair of skeletal arms. To finish off this construct of hers, the bones atop the torso twisted to form a skull with hollow orbits. Offering a moment of focus, the ghastly bones grew a brighter red and seemed to harden. This entire formation, occurring at a speed of 1200, was over in the blink of an eye as Kitai was now face-to-face with the same massive skeletal specter that he had witnessed during the invasion.
Instead of attacking Kitai with the projection, however, Celes formed an orb of crimson light in her hand. Upon crushing the orb, her hand was gripping the hilt of a longsword that closely resembled her sealed Zanpakutō. Additionally, the skeletal guardian flickered and suddenly vanished, having been dismissed by the Captain. Holding the blade by her side, Celes declared loudly, "Prepare yourself, devil. I have some shit to work through so try not to die too quickly, 'kay?"
Accelerating to a speed of 600, Celes leapt past Kitai and towards the ceiling. With her sword in hand, the Captain swiftly cut at the base of the stalactites that hung off the ceiling. Severing it in one swift motion, Celes created an Air Ground and cocked her fist at waist level. Once the rocky formation fell, Celes delivered a mighty blow to the stone, "Hiyahhh!!!". Shattered almost instantly, the resulting shockwave suddenly sent a hail of stones and pebbles hurtling toward Kitai like volleys of shotgun pellets. She watched with anticipation, waiting to see how Kitai would react. Despite her prior declaration, she wouldn't have mind if he was torn to shreds from this single attack...
{Celes' Reiatsu Pool & Resources} Celes' Pool: 3650/4000 Celes' Blessed Breaths: 2/10 -300 for Class 3 Shikai
Strength of Spirit: 0 +10 from Shikai Overall -2 for Palms of the Astral Soul -2 for Visage of the Astral Soul -2 for Arms of the Astral Soul -5 for Ascendant Spirit Rank I
{Honegumi Gassō Overall Ability}Astral Bastion harnesses Celes’ Qi and using herself as a conduit, focuses it to give it physical form. This results in an Astral Soul that protects Celes and grows over the course of combat. The Avatar forms at a speed equivalent to Celes' own. Upon utilizing Shikai, Celes receives 10 Strength of Spirit every post. Leftover Strength of Spirit from one post carries over to another post and there is no cap to the amount of the Strength of Spirit that Celes can accumulate. Additionally, Celes can generate Strength of Spirit out of her own reaitsu at a cost of 25 Reiatsu per Strength of Spirit. Strength of Spirit can be used in a number of ways.
Once a post, Celes can spend any amount of Strength of Spirit to restore 4% per Strength of Spirit in durability to her Astral Soul, restoring the durability to a part of Celes’ choice. Strength of Spirit spent on restoring durability can be divided among multiple parts of the Astral Soul. For example, if Celes spends 4 Strength of Spirit to repair, she can allocate 4 to one part of the Astral Soul or divide it up among multiple parts such as the arms or head. Strength of Spirit may also be spent to enhance the Astral Soul, making temporary additions that can become permanent by use of Ascendant Spirit.
The Astral Soul has durability equivalent to Celes’ OS. This durability increases by 1.5x Celes’ OS when Humanoid. The durability finally rises to 2x Celes’ OS while Armored. Each part of the Astral Soul which includes the Head, Body, and Arms has its own separate durability. No part of the Astral Soul may ever be more than one stage above the Body. Physical and Spiritual attacks can gradually deteriorate the Astral Soul. Upon clashing, the OS of the attack harms the durability. For example, if Celes has a durability of 1000 and the OS of the attack is 500, the remaining durability is 500. If the technique has a 2 Class Superiority, then it both harms the durability of the Astral Soul and pierces it, making Celes susceptible to its effects. In contrast, if the technique has a 2 Class Inferiority, then only deals 50% of its OS to the Astral Soul. If the Body of the Astral Soul were to fall to the durability of 0, the Astral Soul regresses to its previous stage. For example, Armored would regress to Humanoid.
Celes may allow others to enter her Astral Soul freely. Doing so incurs no harm to the ally. Opponents may also force their way into Celes’ Astral Soul as long the durability of the Astral Soul's body has fallen below 25%. This includes techniques that would target Celes directly, requiring opponents to wear down her defenses first. Opponents of a higher class than Celes can always force their way into the Astral Soul or target Celes through her Astral Soul no matter the durability. If the durability is repaired above 25%, any hostile currently within the Astral Soul is forcibly shunted out.
Using this Avatar comes with a primary weakness. The Avatar is a representation of Celes’ life energy; given focus and shaped into a physical form by her. This is extremely taxing and will inevitably result in extreme pain if maintained for an extended duration. Celes can utilize the first instance of Shikai with little risk, suffering no pain from using the Avatar. Once Celes refreshes her Shikai, the pain escalates. Every post thereafter, Celes suffers consistent pain which worsens every four posts. The first instance of pain requires a Pain Tolerance of 1 to withstand. This Pain Tolerance requirement grows every four posts to a maximum of 3. Meeting the Pain Tolerance requirement allows Celes to continue fighting through prolonged exposure threatens to debilitate her if she has sustained wounds. If Celes should ever not meet the Pain Tolerance requirement, she will be writhing in so much pain that her Shikai or Bankai loses its focus and dissipates, effectively ending her release.
{Palms of the Astral Soul} For 1 Strength of Spirit Celes can summon one arm, up to a maximum of four. These arms have a reach of 15 ft and have a Strength equal to Celes’ own strength. Each arm must be maintained via the upkeep of # Strength of Spirit until it is made permanent. The upkeep cost of the arms increases with each stage.
{Visage of the Astral Soul} For 2 Strength of Spirit Celes can summon the head of her Astral Soul. This head, while active, heightens Celes’ visual acuity by allowing her to see through the eyes of the Astral Soul. This allows her to treat her Speed as 25% higher for the purposes of perceiving high-speed movement. This bonus increases to 50% upon using the Complete Astral Soul. Additionally, for each stage that the Head has reached beginning at Skeletal, Celes gains 1 point in Charisma for the purposes of intimidation as it provides a menacing appearance up to a max of 3. The upkeep cost of the Head increases with each stage.
{Arms of the Astral Soul} For 1 Strength of Spirit, Celes can summon weapons wielded by the Astral Soul. These weapons are a longsword or a shield. The longsword is 25 ft in length and the shield has a diameter of 12 ft. A weapon can be summoned upon manifesting of an arm or while the Astral Soul has one free hand. All three weapons both have an OS and durability equivalent to Celes’ Strength; Bankai increases the durability to 2x Celes' OS. While these weapons are constructs, they retain the benefits of their metal counterparts, I.E blades can still carry vibrations. These weapons can be destroyed by a 2x OS superiority to durability. Once broken, Celes may spend 1 Strength of Spirit once more to resummon these weapons. As long as the weapons are not broken, Celes may dissipate the weapon from the Astral Soul’s hands. When doing so, Celes summons her own copy of the weapon in her hand that acts as her release weapon. She may transfer her copy of the weapon to the Astral Soul at will as long as it is not broken. The weapons do not have an upkeep cost.
Kitai gazed upon the transformation with a bit of excitement. He had fought a few captains before, but never one-on-one like this. This Captain had an armor-type ability, going off of the glowing skeleton that basically materialized around her. Zanpakuto were so weird. Ludwig had his notebook, Moon-Boy had his weird scythe things, and now this lady had a ghost skeleton. What's next, the bubonic plague turned into a weapon? Oh, then maybe he'd meet an electric guitar wizard! Kitai had a look of amusement, as he was anticipating whatever it was she was planning on hitting him with. His thought was the big sword in her ghost-hands, but she decided to do things differently.
She blurred away, leaping over him at a respectable speed. Reiatsu flooded his body, as Kitai spun around to see where it was she ran off to. As it turns out, she was pulling an old trick that he used to do back when he was still alive, and one that more people could stand to learn. And that, was using the environment to her advantage. Wielding her sword with an expert level of precision, she severed a cluster of stalactites from their resting place for the past thousand years, and used her boney fist to launch them at him like a shotgun blast. Though this might not have been what he had expected, he was prepared for it.
And then he was turned into swiss cheese thanks to the rocks. His right arm was torn off, his left foot was blown away, at least half his torso was missing, and the left side of his skull was removed from his head. A look of shock and disbelief was covering his face, as he stumbled forward. He took one step, before tumbling to the floor, looking up at Celes in agony. "You.... killed me..." He choked out, coughing up lava-like blood. "I don't.... believe it..." And he let out a dying gasp, as his head struck the cavern floor.
And like that, Kitai was dead, gone from this mortal coil, returned to the afterlife, cutdown before his time. They say the good die young, and this is proof of that! The Hellion's body began dissolving, loosing its color, returning to a state that looks more akin to flame, growing smaller and smaller... Before the ground underneath Celes was vaporized in a beam of pure paradox, quickly followed by a pillar of flame. The moment Celes had blurred away, Kitai had turned his body to fire, expecting an attack from behind. He had figured that she would have struck him with her sword or fist, but the shotgun blast didn't do much more than the other two options would have.
Kitai then played pretend, mostly to screw with her, and used Living Inferno to tunnel a bit underground, before creating an Eye of Yami over the flame, firing at her in an attempt to... well, kill her or mess with her some more. Either option worked. The beam would move at a speed of 800, and Celes would be completely unable to hear it, or see it. But at the same time, she wouldn't be able to not hear its deafening sound, or unable to see its blinding darkness. It both was, and wasn't everything and nothing, simultaneously. It might even give her a headache.
Kitai, now a being of pure fire, would rise from the crater he made, made of rippling fire, looking almost akin to a jiin. There was also an eye, floating around on his chest, roughly five feet in length. It looked alien and inhuman, and Celes would likely be able to immediately tell that this was not Kitai's eye, if she bothered to gaze into it. "So, how was my performance?" He asked. "Did I trick ya? Was it good enough to convince a younger sibling that I killed our family to test my power?" He winked one of his normal eyes, a wide smile spread across his face. Even his teeth were made of an orange flame, albeit slightly brighter than the orange flames that made up his skin.
Living Inferno: 400 Eye of Yami: 200 Total Reiatsu Remaining: 13,900/20,000
Technique Description and Effects: [Often referred to as 'Gaze of the Abyss', as to not tempt fate. When this technique is activated, an eye is formed on the skin of the user. This eye can form on any surface of the body, so long as there is space for an eye. The eye has black sclera instead of white, with a purple iris. This eye gives the user the ability to see through this newly formed organ, in order to aim it. Once it is formed, the user can pay 150 reiatsu to fire out a beam of energy. This beam is deafening in its silence, and can be heard in spite of the lack of sound. The beam consists of empty space, erasing and consuming any matter that comes into contact with the attack. For any spiritual being, or anything that has the ability to resist this attack, this will inflict burns upon them. The os of this technique is dependent on the user's highest spiritual stat. In order to form an eye, the user must pay 50 reiatsu. This eye lasts three posts before closing and vanishing.]
Technique Drawbacks: [Cost]
Made By: Kitai Yoru
Technique Name: [Living Inferno]
Class: [5,3,1]
Technique Type: [Reiatsu]
Usable By: [Hellions]
Technique Element: [Fire]
Technique Description and Effects: [The bodies of all Sinners are created from the fire and brimstone, given shape and mass by magics not understood by the creatures themselves. But those who seek the knowledge tend to stumble across this technique. This technique allows the Sinner to revert their bodies back into the Hellfire they're spawned from. This transformation comes in three stages, each with clear differences in power and efficiency.
The class 5 version of this technique allows the users a partial transformation of their limbs, converting to a solid fire that burns with either the power of the user's highest spiritual stat. These flames convert all the way up to the elbows for the arms, and the knees downwards for the legs. While in a flaming state, the limbs can stretch and change shape to the user's will, up to ten feet in length. These limbs are still bound by the physical stats of the user, moving as fast as the user, and punching as hard as the user. These limbs cannot be regrown. Costs 100 reiatsu per post.
The class 3 version improves upon its class 5 counterpart, completely converting the lower half of the body, and goes all the way to the shoulders for the arms. These fires still burn like the do for their previous version, and can be manipulated in the same manner. With this version though, the user has learned to rekindle their bodies, allowing them to regrow lost or damaged limbs, be the damaged before the technique is activated, or while the technique is active. This 'Rekindling' is a slow process at this stage, taking two posts to regrow them, and costs an extra 50 reiatsu per post. This can be ignored if the user has a faster form of healing limbs, like HSR. This technique costs 200 reiatsu per post.
Ahh class 1, the magnum opus for this technique. As before, the technique still burns with either the user's highest spiritual stat, or 600, whichever is higher. But unlike before, the user can fully convert their body into the flames of Hell. The user can grow as large as they want, up to 40 feet in height, and can ignore the height requirements. The flames are only semi-solid at this level, and techniques can pass through the user without ending the user's life. Costs 400 reiatsu per post]
How to use technique: [Pay Reiatsu]
Technique Drawbacks: [You didn't think a power like this came without its price, did you? There's always a price, and this one is steep. On top of the reiatsu costs per post, each level of this technique requires the user to have a point in either Pain Tolerance, or Anti-Torture. Strength of Will does not count. The class 5 version would only require one point in either of the two skills, the class 3 would require two points in either of them, while the class 1 would require three.
This is far from the only drawback, as being transformed into flames wracks your health in more ways than one. While this transformation can theoretically last till the user's reiatsu pool runs dry, this technique slowly starts to cook the user. Understanding how to partially revert the body back into flames isn't a perfect process for the denizens of Hell, especially when the process isn't fully understood. While this technique is active, the flames of Hell burn away the soul, not just the body, and thus puts them on a timer, even with something as amazing as high speed regeneration. Without having points in Heat Resistance, this technique will leave the soul of the user in cinders after about six posts, with each level of Heat Resistance adding another post to stave off the inevitable fiery end. If the user is killed by the technique, they will respawn in Hell like normal, but with their stats halved for one thread.]

Just as quick as it had begun, so quickly was it over. The fragments had quite literally torn through the Hellion, mutilating his body. As he shambled forward towards Celes, the Captain was in utter disbelief. "T- That's all it took?", she briefly mused to herself. You.... killed me..., Kitai merely spat up with a heap of molten lava. It dripped onto the ground, searing the cool stone underneath. I don't.... believe it..., he finished before his limp body fell to the floor. The girl merely stood upon her Air Ground, shocked.
She knew that most of her opponents and peers were more frail than her, but that... that was anti-climatic. It seemed too easy, especially for someone of Kitai's notoriety. The Hellion had climbed his way out of the pits of Hell itself. He had attacked Soul Society numerous times. Hell, the last time the two met, Orobas had quite literally gored him with gargantuan horns. Death was merely another obstacle for them, but something about this entire thing felt off. She tightly gripped her crimson blade and remained perfectly still. Even if Kitai truly was dead, a few moments of heightened alert would not be bad for her health. That's when it happened!
The ground underneath the Captain erupted in a volcanic display as fire spilled from the newly formed hole. Startled, Celes' eyes shifted to meet Kitai's faux eye. Tendrils of flame lashed out as a familiar beam shot towards the Captain. This beam was a paradox in the most literal sense. Its sound assaulted her senses and its glow filled her vision. Yet, at the same time, she was unable to see or hear it. It was rather vexing. Despite her confusion, Celes knew that she needed to act. Suddenly, Celes' heart began to pound within her chest. Beating like a drum, Celes' entire body vibrated. Veins and arteries filled with blood and her arms began to swell ever so slightly. Even the Captain's skin became flushed, taking on a rose-colored hue as blood circulated through her body.
Facing the beam head-on, Celes brought her hands together before swinging downward at her full speed. At that moment, the beam began to cleave in two! Accompanying the impressive display of strength was an equally devastating shockwave that split the remaining beam down the middle. However, it would not stop. The fine shockwave would travel downward towards Kitai, threatening to crash into the ground and, by extension, his ember body. The two split beams rushed past Celes and dug into the stone ceiling above. Kicking off the tips of her toes, Celes rushed to the ground.
Looking up, Celes gazed upon Kitai's new form. The Hellion was wreathed in flames. The most notable feature, however, was his height. The bastard stood several dozen feet tall! Her lips curled into grimace. As usual, Kitai's mouth moved first. So, how was my performance? Celes merely blinked in response. Did I trick ya? Was it good enough to convince a younger sibling that I killed our family to test my power?" He was starting to get annoying. Worse yet, he had that same shit-eating grin from before.
"Damn, you just love to hear yourself talk, don't you?", she remarked with venom in her voice. "Glad to see that you aren't as pathetic as your little performance made you out to be. Like I said before, I don't want you to die too quickly." Suddenly, a familiar voice jumped out at her again. "Don't hold back, Celes. Show him your superiority." The dark voice had its claws in the Captain. She placed her hand on the flat of the blade and let out a deep breath. "Bankai. Soar across the heavens, Kōgōshī Sōkō Gassō!"
A burst of spiritual energy erupted upward from the Captain. Tendrils of crimson twisted and hardened. Skin formed over bones. Clothing adorned the majestic spectral visage. As the pillar of energy dissipated, Kitai could now gaze upon the true form of Celes' Zanpakutō. A tengu-like warrior projection which stood at 40 ft tall, rivaling the Hellion's scorched body. The spectral armor flapped its massive wings once before placing a hand upon the hilt of its sword. Allowing energy to flow through the blade, Celes issued her command. "Dissapear."
The gargantuan form of the Bankai vanished from sight, moving at an incredible speed of 1000. Attempting to close the distance between herself and Kitai until 20 or so feet remained between them, Celes allowed the armor to unleash its blade. Rocketing outward at a speed of 2400, Celes' Astral Soul delivered a vicious Iaijutsu slash. In truth, however, she didn't expect it to deal any damage. The Captain knew of a certain Sternritter who used to be able to turn her body into paper. Physical attacks couldn't truly put her down. Celes reasoned that the body of flame had similar properties. However, she did have another trick up her sleeve.
The crimson blade glowed even more brightly than before if it made contact with Kitai's new body. If the flame was indeed spiritual then it could prove his undoing. Using her blade, Celes could siphon reiatsu and draw them into the blade itself. Like a vacuum, it would threaten to consume the flames of Hell, and Kitai itself, if he remained in this form. She had never really used it on someone who transformed themselves into an entity of reiatsu. After all, it could be potentially lethal. Then again... perhaps Kitai would prove a worthy sacrifice if he was consumed by her. One thing was for sure. Kitai would have to be quick because the next few moments could certain prove to be his last.
{Kōgōshī Sōkō Gassō Overall Ability}Heavenly Sentinel is the pinnacle of Celes’ Astral Soul which bestows upon her several benefits. First and foremost, the durability of Celes’ Astral Soul rises to 3x her OS making it the bulkiest stage out of all of her options. Additionally, Celes generates an additional 5 Strength of Spirit for a total of 15 per post to utilize on techniques or restoration of her Astral Soul. Unlike the other stages where Celes was limited to the ground, Heavenly Sentinel grants the Astral Soul legs as Celes rises into its stomach, making it much more difficult to hit her. This also increases the overall height of the Astral Soul to an imposing 40 ft. Additionally, while Bankai is active, Celes suffers less stamina drain from high-intensity movement. First, Celes' "comfortable" movement speed is set to up to ½ of her maximum Speed. Additionally, instead of suffering progressively higher stamina drain every 100 speed, this is increased to every 200 speed. Heavenly Sentinel also grants the Astral Soul wings, allowing it to take to the skies and fly at a speed equal to Celes’ speed which gives it aerial superiority. The wings produced by Heavenly Sentinel have separate durability of 3x Celes’ OS. If the wings are reduced to 0, Celes’ cannot take flight until she uses 25 Strength of Spirit to restore them. The legs and is considered part of the body’s durability. Additionally, having perfected the Avatar in Bankai, the four-post pain escalation increases to 7 posts.
Unlike most, Celes' Bankai has a notable restriction. Celes’ Shikai focuses her very life energy into an Avatar and Bankai sharpens that focus to push her Avatar to new heights. While her Shikai normally allows her to acclimate to the increasing pain, her Bankai does not offer her the same grace. Bankai has a starting Pain Tolerance of 4 with a max of 4 that needs to be met. Each rank of Ascendant Spirit in Shikai will reduce the starting Pain Tolerance by 1. For example, if Celes activates Bankai without Shikai or upgrading Ascendant Spirit, the Pain Tolerance requirement will be 4. If Celes has Ascendant Spirit Rank I, the starting Pain Tolerance is 3 and caps at 4. At Rank II, the starting Pain Tolerance is 2 and caps at 4. At Rank III, the starting Pain Tolerance is 1 and caps at 3 similar to her Shikai. It should be noted that if Celes met a Pain Tolerance milestone in Shikai, it carries over to when she activates Bankai.
An advanced Hakuda technique which causes the user to vibrate their arms while also flexing them. This also requires the user to be moving constantly and quickly, maybe running. The blood pumps and increases muscle size and capacity for a few seconds, allowing one hit of advanced strength.
For one single attack, the user's physical strength doubles. If this is used during a technique that increases strength, then the hit strength of that technique is what doubles instead of base strength.
How to use technique:
Must have at least a 3 in Hakuda, 800 speed, and 250 strength. Must be at least Rank Level 3 to learn this technique.
Drawback:
This technique is one of the less straining ones, but regardless is still straining. A healthy specimen may be able to use this technique more, but they will still be hit eventually by heart damage, heart trauma, and muscular pains.
Technique Description and Effects: The user of this technique draws their sword and strikes with one fluid, lightning-fast motion. This technique can easily catch an unprepared opponent off-guard. This attack is made at 2x the user's Speed, or at a speed of 600 (whichever is faster). Due to the sudden nature of this attack, characters with less than 200 Instinct are caught completely flat-footed and unable to react to this attack, unless they meet one of the alternative requirements (see drawbacks below).
Except where noted, this is otherwise an ordinary melee strike and has no reiatsu cost. Proficiency with this technique allows the user to immediately sheathe their weapon after making their attack.
Mastery of this technique allows for it to be combined with Shunpo to draw, strike, and sheathe the weapon in the blink of an eye. This variant costs 50 reiatsu to perform, and gains the benefits of a 3x Speed Boost (instead of the usual 2x). This variant is imperceptible to characters with less than 200 Senses. Characters with 200+ Senses detect a blur of movement from the user but may not be able to react to the attack unless they have 200+ Instinct and/or one of the benefits listed in drawbacks below.
How to use technique: Simply draw your weapon and strike in a single fluid motion.
Technique Drawbacks: This technique rarely works more than once per thread, as any opponent who witnesses this technique being used can react to it normally (regardless of Instinct). Even against aware opponents, this attack retains its speed however and should not be underestimated.
In addition, characters who know this technique or have Battle Analysis of 2 (or above) can easily identify the ready stances used in this technique and predict the user's intent. Such characters are never caught off-guard by this attack but will still need to react to its incredible speed.
This technique can only be used with a sheathed sword. In order to use this technique more than once during a single thread, the user must sheathe their weapon prior to using this technique again. This technique requires 2 SKP in Weapons (Sword) in order to be used, and 3 SKP to be mastered.
Description: Devouring Steel allows Celes to utilize the longsword manifested by her Astral Soul to absorb spiritual techniques to nourish herself and empower the blade. If a spiritual technique that Celes is aware of comes into contact with Celes’ shield or her blade, she may use Devouring Steel. When a spiritual technique comes into contact with Celes' blade, Celes can trap the technique and nourish her spirit with it. Starting at 1 Strength of Spirit at Class 7 and increasing by 1 for each Class up to her current release Class, Celes regains an amount of reiatsu equal to 25% of the techniques' cost. This increases to 50% in Bankai. If the OS of the technique is equal to or lower than Celes’ OS, 1.5x her OS or lower while using Bankai, the technique that was used becomes nullified and Celes has the option to trap its essence for 4 Strength of Spirit, dissipating into the blade of the Astral Soul. Finally, while Devouring Steel can leech reiatsu from techniques, it may also do so with willing participants. By placing their hand upon Celes' sword, the blade may act as a conduit through which reiatsu may flow. A willing target can freely give up reiatsu, transferring it to Celes. This reiatsu that is given to her may not exceed her maximum reiatsu pool. This process costs no Strength of Spirit.
Once absorbed, Celes may utilize the essence to bolster her blade for a single strike. Upon trapping the essence of the technique, Celes gains 2 charges; 4 in Bankai. Consuming a charge increases the following strike by 25% of the technique's OS. Celes may consume more than one charge at a time, up to the number of charges she currently has, giving her the option to spend all at once for an a single amplified strike or spend them one at a time for smaller bursts of power. If the technique trapped by Devouring Steel was of a certain element, I.E a fireball, she may infuse her blade with the associated element upon spending a charge. This simply adds a basic elemental effect to her blade. For example, if Devouring Steel was used to absorb a fireball then spending a charge will allow her to ignite her blade and potentially burn her opponents. If used with an element, the strike is treated as both physical and spiritual.
Drawbacks: Despite its capacity to nullify and absorb spiritual techniques, Devouring Steel has several key weaknesses. First and foremost, it can never absorb spiritual techniques that are higher in Class than Celes’ current release Class. Additionally, as Celes attempts to absorb higher class techniques, the Strength of Spirit cost increases. Additionally, Devouring Steel cannot nullify or absorb techniques that Celes is not keenly aware of. For example, techniques that she cannot sense. Second, an OS superiority will render Devouring Steel useless; 1.5x+ OS Superiority in Bankai. Finally, Devouring Steel does not work on physical attacks at all which includes products of physical attacks such as shockwaves. Despite being able to unleash the elemental effects of the absorbed technique, they will never mimic any unique effects associated with the absorbed element. For as long as Devouring Steel retains charges, absorbing another technique will not refresh any missing charges. Upon consuming any number of charges, they are lost no matter whether the attack lands.
