Taiyo had spent his time looking into squads, assessing which he wanted to join. Naturally his children had a say in this as well, as he sat on the porch of his home with his family looking over his shoulder at the papers given to him. They had gone over the papers numerous times now, and each time a new point of view was given about what they believed was the best squad. The younger children frolicked about in the yard while the older of his children aided him in reading. Taiyo could only smile happily as he read alongside Akio, Akira, Hinata and Daichi. They group assessing what they believed to be good qualities but always circling back to if the captain would be a good fit.
The now shinigami Taiyo was glad to have more than one opinion on this choice, and even as he felt the wait of his choice, he was glad it was not made lightly. In his off days now, he was spending time training at home. His children enjoying watching him strike the dummy, but also at the sheer strength and speed their father showed now. He was much more than he had been when he left, and to see his growth in martial abilities made them happy. But in their eyes Taiyo could see their sadness, he was their father after all. They didn't want to lose their last parent to combat, or to see him die in battle. The words of the arrancar rang in his ears when he saw those eyes.
He had nearly laid down his life for no reason instead of fighting, and that would have aided no one. If the arrancar wanted to, he would have simply killed Taiyo then continued to kill if he had wanted. But that was the darkest possibility back then. A lot had crossed his mind in the span of a month, and with his new found courage, Taiyo did not fear combat as much as he use to. Not to say he wasn't afraid, but rather... he felt the need to strand up more confidently when faced with battle. He hated battles, despised them... but he knew in his heart of hearts they were necessary so long as evil men or women wielded their strength against others.
Even as he got ready for his morning training, standing before the training dummy and staring down at the marks left by his sword, he felt uneasy. Not because of the fact he didn't like striking a dummy, but rather, something was wrong. His skin crawled as if danger was nearby, and it wasn't till he heard the sound of an explosion that Taiyo's head snapped to the direction. Smoke from the north leading to seireitei. Confusion quickly turned to concern as he directed his children to run to the basement and hide. Once he was sure they were safely in place, Taiyo rushed out of his estate, sword on his back and a firm grip on it. He wasn't sure of the situation, but hoped it wasn't dire.
