The Rukongai and it's wilderness was such a comfortable place when the weather permitted. When Astrid had first arrived it'd been in the middle of snowing and it was definitely colder than the minimum temperature to create it. To her immense disappointment it had stayed that way for couple weeks past that until FINALLY lukewarm weather showed itself and with it came something akin to 40's and 50's as far as the weather was concerned. It wasn't the peak but damn if it wasn't better than the former weather she had. Today was resting pretty steadily at the 50's range and Astrid was living up like she was invited to a grand ball. Even going so far as to roll around in the vegetation in the wilderness regardless of it's potential downsides.
Thus even now Astrid was covered in twigs, leaves, the remains of several types of berry pulp and smelled immensely of earth. A bit on the moist side which admittedly was irking but given the snow had melted only a few days ago there was no way the ground was going to be dry yet. And not after it was abuot a 1 foot worth of snow at it's tallest. Still Astrid and her canine companion had been wandering around and skirting the edges of the 80th rukongais. Effectively walking around the entirety of the Rukongai slowly but surely. Thus even her feedings had been pretty well spread out and with the abundant wildlife Astrid had found it very easy to keep a lower profile until she found plus that peaked her appetite or curiosity. Given some of them seemed to create orbs of pure reiatsu or had other signs of curious reiatsu.
Obviously she'd not sensed it, her canine companion was the one that had. However it did lead her to them and each time Astrid had to admit she grew more curious. Was this however soul started? Learning to make orbs of reiatsu and then subsequently go to magic? Or were there others who didn't know it as well or couldn't use it? She didn't know and the rukongai wasn't exactly the place to be when it came to learning about shinigami afterall. If anything she was seeing the worst of the worst and had been fortunate not to run into anything considers "dangerous" by plus's standards. I.E. mafia or other gang members. Or random bases of them. Hell she hadn't even seen another shinigami since Shawn. Which that alone made her curious and confused. Shinigami were supposed to be everywhere. And a few of her resurfaced memories pointed heavily toward that. So where were they?
That was part of the reason Astrid had been keeping a lower profile than she'd have wanted. It did help that she'd gains a significant amount of mental clarity. And her hunger pangs while intense at times did occasionally get satisfied for a semi-decent amount of time. She was steadily growing to 2 hours that she could do other things but eat. And be coherent in thought. It was an incredibly curious time in her life that she wasn't 100% certain she understood. Still she would figure it out eventually but that would be when she finally decided to go back. For now she was sort of on the prowl for something in particular. Hollows. Granted the reason for it was due to an old memory of hers but she recalled that the farther out one got the more likely you'd run into hollows.
And it seemed like she should have been far enough out to have met several by now. And yet with her wandering and low profile she actually had managed to avoid the hollows in the area normally. On accident of course but still. I'm not leaving. . . not until. . one is found. Where? Still not here. . hmmm. . . At the current moment Astrid was simply riding on her canine hollows backside let it walk her around the edge of village after village before intermingling with the forested areas and general wilderness. One thing she did have to admit though was that she was very fond of the wilderness here even if she saw nothing interesting. She'd seen wetlands, partially frozen, forests, plains, even a couple farms. It was interesting and so vastly different than the forest she was from.
That was of course obvious for several reasons but still. She enjoyed it. And the comfortable quiet. No screaming voices. Generally not many others around. And the presence of life was there and it's brutal reminders but that was hidden behind the beauty of nature in general. Astrid had even gone so far as to pick up a few flowers of different kinds as they'd walked around. Those were sticking out from between her tendrils in various spots. Her arms, legs, even on her back in a few places. It was nice. But even still she needed to find some hollows. Speak to them. Get some sort of knowledge as to where they were and what packs were around. Because even as she didn't believe it, she hoped that maybe Eridrox had actually survived. Maybe he'd feigned his death before she died. Just maybe. But she'd have to find a damn hollow first and apparently they'd become rare so thus her treck continued. Little did she know she'd find quite a curious one in her excursions today.
