The cool kiss of the fall breeze, the looming embrace of clouds along the harsh sun, and the lovely music of the birds along the trees of the wilderness. A redhead standing at 5'4" dressed in her Shihakusho walked through the woods today, looking for a place of rest from her strenuous ventures. As of late, she felt as if few could understand the way she had been feeling. She just couldn't be around people as of late. Eventually, her cerulean eyes scanned a suitable place of relaxation, a small clearing with a single tree standing taller than the rest, bathed with the lightest gleams of sunlight. It would do nicely. Calmly, she walked up, slid her back across the tree, then took a deep breath outward. What a beautiful day it was. Nothing could ruin this moment she was sure. Nothing.
Her hair was no longer a neat and organized ponytail. Having lost her left arm, it was a struggle tying it every day. As a result, it was long and free, extending just slightly past her shoulders. It was wavy, shiny with likely lingering natural oils, and it faintly shifted with another strong breeze which blew her way. Her long sword rested at her side, a five foot blade kept in a purple scabbard. Along her left arm, the one which had been amputated from the elbow down, it still held her Vice Captain's badge, the one semblance of pride she could say she held. This was her position, this was her hard work and effort. This was one of the things she could say she proudly earned. Though, that list of things was far and few as she mused in the silence. What had Odayakama Senshi accomplished? She thought for a moment, and some of her accomplishments came to mind.
Among all of the current Vice-Captains, she held the most Kido Prowess and was incredibly spiritually gifted. She had mastered many spells and was sure that she could challenge some captains in that regard. She had become a Vice-Captain for the 8th division of which the paperwork had all been balanced by herself. She had fought many strong opponents and lived to tell the tale, even going as far to gain praise from the monster Kuroi. Though, it was then she realized she had done something else hadn't she? That was right. She had a disciple. She had trained him from his earlier state and he had grown some, last she heard. She had saved his life back then. In other words, Senshi had even gained a disciple from her efforts. Now didn't that sound wonderful? To have someone call you teacher and respect you with a sense of admiration. To be the level of practitioner they wanted to be?
With that, Senshi would train. She would train extensively in the woods. So, for one month, Odayakama Senshi neglected on her duties in the office to strengthen herself. Her grasp on Kido was incredible, and so, after this hard month, when one was to enter the clearing she was in, they'd find that it's expanse of emptiness had expanded nearly fifty fold since the formation of her training. Whatever she had been working on was incredibly destructive and large scale. For one month, Odayakama Senshi trained here to strengthen her mind again, and now, if one was to approach her, she sat in a Zen meditative stance as a glowing pyramid like tower of green glowed around her, though she was not oblivious to the world around her. With this time to think, she sharpened her senses while at the same time exterminating any Hollows that came from the woodwork. She in one month had mastered the Kido she had sought to learn.
However, in this month of isolation, she had also thought. She had thought about what her next steps and goals in life would be after this training. She had no answers of which she could focus. Her good friend Kaen had talked about at times going out on assignments together. Perhaps it was not a bad idea, though she was very surprised to hear he had relinquished his position as Vice Captain for the former which had appeared from nowhere seemingly. The petite little redhead was happy for him, though she still blushed as she thought about him and all he had done for her. Youji Kaen. He was an optimistic ball on the surface, and she liked to believe he cared about her on the inside. Senshi still had feelings for him, even if she knew it was nonsensical. Perhaps she ought to see him sometime.
She also had items of which to trade with the captain of Squad 12 in order to receive a new arm, a modified and enhanced arm. She knew of his secret, and she also had red crystals she submitted in before. Those contributions would likely gain her what she wanted. Though, she also had some money of which to pay him if he was so interested in such a trivial thing. Other than that, she found that her life was too plain, too simple at the moment. She was one of the Vice Captains that wasn't expected to do so much in the ways of combat for the Seireitei. She had thrust herself into too many battles and she had paid for it in her suffering. So then, what. What now? Was she supposed to be a placeholder for this position until she was just replaced? What was her next obstacle in her life? What was the next step to make her dreams come into reality?
Thinking of this, she really only ever had two dreams, and one of them was already resolving itself. One such dream was to become a Captain for the Seireitei, and through it, accomplish her other dream. Her other dream was to end the corruption of the Seireitei, and yet, so much had changed since she had first joined the Gotei 13. Her dreams were a senseless and meaningless thing now. Her strength and power was not of value. Lowering her head to the ground, she for some reason felt shameful. She felt as if she had not done enough, or just simply wasn't useful enough to anyone. It made her very sad. So, within this barrier, a perceptive person might see a tired looking Senshi, one with bags under her eyes, a sad frown on her face, and her right hand caressing her temple.
What was she sad about? She felt as if she was holding a position and not doing anything noteworthy with it. Odayakama Senshi needed to rethink her life some, and Shonin Joka didn't offer many helpful suggestions. "I don't know Senbun. Get a husband. Drink some booze. Go and relaaaaax!" Those weren't the kinds of things she was looking for for advice. She wanted to know what to do with her life, not what she should be doing in the times where things were lax. Though, Shonin Joka always did have that charisma to him. He cared about her greatly. What an absurd little Zanpakutou he was.
