Squad: The Fourth Division
Rank: Vice-Captain - 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Basic Information-
Name: Koharu Tsu
Age of Death: 10
Real Age/Age of Appearance: 1763 | Mid -70’s
Birthday: June 12th
Blood Type: AB+
RP Sample: N/A
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Appearance-
Height: 4’ 9”
Weight: 102 lbs
Physical Description: Throughout her many years as a Shinigami no opponent or assassin has ever dealt her a grievous enough wound—one that her Kaidō powers could not fully heal—before being dispatched. This is due in no small part to her propensity towards using her experience to defeat her foes safely and effectively. In fact, the only scars that grace the body of the elderly woman are those which were self-inflicted through hundreds of self-experimentation and modification done through her many years. These many scars which travel along her body like snakes through the sands of time are badges of honor for a scientist such as Koharu who view longevity as the ultimate display of strength and power. In order to achieve such longevity, she believes one must make alterations and adapt to the many challenges that will eventually face them.
While Shinigami are functionally immortal, their bodies are not beyond the clawing fingers of time. Lieutenant Tsu is an older, shorter woman who has seen over two thousand years of history play out before her eye. That inescapable force has given her slightly hunched shoulders and a rounded upper back that drops her final height to just under five feet. Her skin is slightly tanned with innumerable brown spots that have appeared more frequently with her advanced age. Koharu has an oval-like head, shaped by thin arched platinum eyebrows, which ombré to the standard grey color going towards the eyebrow's tail. Her eyes are deeply sunken in are shaped in an almond-like manner. Her lashes which were long and thick in her youth has turned into thin wisps of their former beauty. Her eyes themselves are quite mesmerizing. She possesses an uncanny ability to convey every emotion through those eyes. With nothing more than a look, she can comfort a soul who has seen the tragedies of war. Whilst in another moment, she can stare with such ferocity that she can convey the pernicious wickedness that twists within her soul. Truth be told, Koharu's gaze is the hardest thing about her. It analyzes everything before her taking note of everything in her vicinity.
Koharu is perhaps the most written about Lieutenant and her beginnings are well-known, written into the annals of history and studied by many promising young Shinigami in the Shin'ō Academy. Born in the World of the Living, Koharu was alive during a time where women were not allowed to learn any skill aside from those designated by a dominant male. She was lucky as Humanity had not yet progressed enough in the medical field to ensure a strong survival rate for infants. It was this that originally her inability to educate herself which caused her curiosity for education. Dying not soon after her 10th birthday Koharu was robbed of her of a chance to live among those who brought her into the world as an adult.
At the time the Soul Society had long-since adapted to the arrival and care of these fledgling souls, placing them in functioning families who could not have spirit-born children of their own. The husband and wife who received the girl were intellectuals. A family with a wealth that could’ve been compared to that of the nobles. The entire breadth of the clan finances—an exuberant amount —was spread across her lap from an early age. This level of pampering; the access to conveniences of every kind; a bottomless pocketbook; the noble treatment befitting one of his bloodlines; all contributed to the hyperbolic personality which she possesses. With an unlimited access to knowledge and a bottomless wallet, the young Koharu founded many projects and created several rudimentary inventions which would serve as the basis for future crafts.
It is difficult to say what Koharu looked like a thousand years ago based on her current appearance. Age has left its marks on her face, with deep wrinkles set around her mouth and bags beneath her eyes that hold the weight of all she has seen within them. In all, it is obvious that time hasn't been kind to the captain's appearance, yet it's something she doesn't care too much about. By the time her soul had turned nearly 100 the only field left for her to conquer was that of the Shinigami Arts, and after graduating from Shin'ō Academy she found herself becoming a seated member of the 12th Division. During the time she spent with access to the technology of Squad 12 she had conducted multiple experiments on herself. Such modifications have resulted in the lengthening of her tongue, the reshaping and alteration of her inner ear, rearrangement of all major veins, and many more which I’m sure have not been reported.
Over the past hundred or so years, Vice-Captain Tsu has preferred a singular hairstyle—she keeps it cut short with two larger bangs that frame her face. Her hair has long since turned gray and she sees no need to go through the trouble of styling it differently. In fact, all of Koharu’s features seem to remain constant for extended periods of time, as if she chooses to lock herself away from the world, ignoring the changes that trudge on around her. Koharu is a Captain who wears her uniform without any alterations to its traditional design. Her haori is always well-pressed. Should it become marred with dirt or blood, she invariably cleans it the moment she finds herself at peace and able to see to its care. This is as much out of a respect for tradition as it is pride. The haori, kosode and hakama are all cut conservatively and are cleaned and pressed regularly. Despite appearing old underneath her clothing are toned abdominal muscles and an athletic physique that are somewhat surprising to those who judge her by her relatively matronly looking frame. Her hips, legs, and bust are all petite, with her cup size shying just at the leading edge of 'A'. Despite her natural athleticism and the chiseled looks that come part-and-parcel with it, Koharu's once sultry face is now the quintessential adorable.

-Personality-
Likes:
Watching Classic Horror Films: Even though Koharu may have the facade of a feeble old lady that is in actuality nothing of the truth. She oddly has some type of enjoyment from watching helpless teenagers get slashed and dismembered in old horror movies. Many believe her knowledge of anatomy stems from her countless viewing of horror films.
Paying Markets: While she is pleased that some of her work has been written about in paying and non-paying publications. Although non-monetary recognition is motivational and rewarding, it doesn’t pay for expenses. Despite coming from a wealthy family and having access to an immeasurable amount of funds she believe's that creative efforts should be recognized with a stipend; a point worth repetition.
Taxidermy: When Vice-Captain Tsu made the transition over to the 4th Division she initially started her work off by helping injured animals. To first get used to the bodies of these strays Tsu surrounded herself with taxidermist which proved to be a more than an interesting experience.
Painting: Koharu is an eccentric woman with a vivid imagination and a devoted following in the artistic world. She is known as a supremely talented painter, among her peers, whose ability to take in the scenery and transform it beyond recognition, creating landscapes and portraits that hint at worlds beyond reality, took the art world by storm. An accomplished writer, and frequent contributor to Seireitei Communication Monthly thanks to her ability to generate ideas with total clarity and ease. What she is perhaps best known for is that she has absolutely no 'process'. She has no known rituals, no tricks for overturning artist's block, and no history of slowing down. She is simply an endless well of ideas and talent that seems to come to her effortlessly.
Winning: Who doesn't love the feeling of victory? Throughout her many years as a Shinigami Koharu has become fairly accustomed to victory among the ranks and often expects it. Her competitive nature makes her motivated with everything that she attempts.
Performing Surgery: A trained and highly respected Surgeon Koharu has come to love her profession. Vice-Captain Tsu experiences such a rush following a successful operation akin to the rush an adrenaline-junkie gets.
Sphynx Cats: This specific breed of cats are known for its lack of coat something which Koharu adore's. The haunting beauty of the cats and their ghastly blue eye's lead Lieutenant Tsu to adopting several of them as her own personal pets.
Being Relied Upon: Koharu is a leader. Despite all her woes and inhibitions, she has made herself a mother to her troops and will always act accordingly. Shinigami from all ranks and divisions can filter into her small office uninvited and she will always take a moment or two to offer solace or some words of advice.
Dance: In her prime Koharu flowed with a grace that borders sublimity. She was a dancer of the wind, joints loose from natural relaxation and an appreciation for her athleticism. A social person this made it all the more necessary for her to become the phenomenal dancer that she once was.
Comedy: Koharu is an entertainer at heart, and her form of entertainment is comedy. Though her jokes, which she often tests on the members of her squad, often comes across as dry or terrible such coincidentally gives them a hilarious charm.
Dislikes:
Ignorance: Many find ignorance itself to be a form of bliss, however, this is not true for Koharu. She views the lack of comprehension as a fault and believes it's the responsibility of an individual to learn as much as possible.
Repetition: As a woman of a high caliber she has come to expect many a thing listened to. If she feels the need to repeat herself it means that she has been disrespected as a high ranking official. Aside from this, she believes that repetition is a sign of stagnation and in order to improve upon something things must never be repeated.
Dogs: They stink. Not only this but, canines require a lot of actual maintenance as a pet. They're needy whereas cats are self-sufficient and able to take care of themselves.
Responsibility Dodgers: Koharu absolutely hates when people who don't take responsibility for what they do. She has come to learn that not everything can go as planned and additionally mistakes supplement one's growth, however, what she can't tolerate is when people don't take responsibility for their actions.
Excuses: This ties in with her dislike of responsibility dodgers, as frequently it is those same people who make up a bunch of excuses to justify their actions. By making excuses and failing to accept one's failure and fault the person isn't doing anything but cheating themselves out of a learning experience.
Rain: Koharu has a love-hate relationship with the rain. Although she admits the droplets of water do feel nice and that they are beautiful the aftermath of a storm is disgusting to her. SHe hates the appearance of mud or a soaked floor. Additionally, she can not stand wet liter and debris after a shower, the very thought makes her cringe.
Death: Even shinigami fear death. well, it isn't necessarily the aspect of dying that frightens her, merely the idea of not accomplishing enough. Koharu want's nothing more than to be appreciated and loved. She wants to be sentimentalized for her greatness after death and not forgotten. She dislikes the thought of not being successful, what an overachiever.
Settling: The concept of settling for something infuriates Koharu. This is likely the reason she hasn't been married in her centuries of living. Becoming complacent is the fastest way to get on her bad side as it means that you've given up on bettering yourself or trying for the best. Koharu never settles, often trying to improve upon or find a better alternative to her problems.
The 4th Division: Quite a conundrum isn't it? Many would be shocked to know that the mother of the Fourth Division actually loathes it. Initially, a member of squad 12, Koharu was allowed to experiment and pursue whatever she wanted, however with the limitations placed on the fourth division as a medical squad this is no longer possible. She wants to be free, and that's a part of her motivation of becoming captain as then she is practically able to do whatever she wants. Also, the medics of her division often box themselves into a specific niche instead of trying to fit other roles which she can't stand. Regardless she hides her distaste with her very squad well and always attempts to appear congenial.
Smoking: Nicotine is the devil and no one could possibly convince Koharu otherwise. She doesn't understand the appeal of it which get's under her skin and upon further investigation finds that smokers are often aware of cigarettes doing more harm than good.
Habits:
Fidgeting: Koharu is not one who is prone to habits, and the only one that can actually even be counted as one is her fidgeting. Though rare Koharu is known to fidget in times of boredom of while thinking. When in a battle that is not particularly entertaining she can be seen involuntarily shaking her Zanpakuto, or twisting her earrings.
Talking to Herself: Lieutenant Tsu is very analytical and this often translates into her thinking things out loud to herself. Many in her barracks have grown accustomed to it, however, from a strangers perspective, she appears to be nothing more than an old bat.
Overworking: Koharu is known to push herself and take on multiple tasks which may become disadvantageous to herself. She is infinitely busy and rarely has a moment to herself.
Fears:
Catagelophobia: which is the fear of being ridiculed, this fear which isn't necessarily along the lines of being obsessive has pushed her to be the woman she is today. This fear instilled in her a desire to achieve more in order to ensure that she would not be ridiculed. Her pride is too high, and although she is not a stranger to criticism it still irks her to date.
Insignificance: Perhaps the reason as to why she pushes herself to accomplish much and has attempted to further her career for centuries is because of her fear of insignificance. Koharu is a firm believer in always attempting to better oneself and the stem of this belief lies in this major fear as for her to not be considered well rounded and renowned for her abilities is for her to be worthless. Aside from the disrespect that comes from being forced to repeat herself the dislike may also have its roots in this fear as it is a sign of not being listened to; which can be interpreted as not being important enough to listen too. Though this fear isn't known by anyone or even recognized by Koharu herself, it explains why she dislikes the concept of death as her hatred of it lies in her fear of not being remembered.
Incompetence: To clarify, Koharu is not scared of people who are incompetent she is terrified of herself becoming incompetent. In her youth, she made herself a promise to never be ignorant and she has spent the rest of her life since then educating herself on everything that could possibly be understood.
Flaws:
Overambitious: Koharu often attempts to accomplish too much leading to stress. It isn't because she doesn't trust others to handle tasks more so, because of her fear of insignificance. She must always be doing something that makes her worthwhile because of this.
Unpredictable: Koharu is often seen as unpredictable and her methods of doing things odd and strange. This is seen as a flaw simply because even her peers aren't aware of what she is capable of doing next, oftentimes plans are ruined or unable to be formed simply because of her being such a wild card.
Theatrical: Koharu has a flair for over dramatizing situations, doing things in a ‘big way’ and loves to be ‘center stage’.
Goals: To Become Captain: Koharu has been a lieutenant for quite some time, not as long as most, but still for an extensive period. It’s her goal to become a captain.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Overall Personality: To put it simply, Koharu is an outgoing, sarcastic, and eccentric woman Thought she doesn't necessarily adore money in particular, but very wealthy objects such as gear, artifacts, and machinery; and the fact that the twelfth division is one of the richest divisions in finances, outclassed only by the first division. As a social animal, Koharu is simultaneously withdrawn and unusually open. She rarely seeks out companionship from others, especially those who sit outside of the Gotei 13. Yet, if approached, she never seems irritated. As such, many members of her squad, although none may say that it was she who initiated the conversation. She is known to talk about any subject as if she were a regular civilian, only with little passion and few hard-line opinions can claim that they have spoken to her at length. Koharu can never pass up a good joke to tell, and normally hers are pretty good, to say the least.
Koharu ideally would have the serious and grave bearing of a family elder and would be the keystone of tranquility around which many revolve. In practice, she's none of that. Although she may be one of the oldest shinigami currently alive, she doesn't carry herself with the gravity that normally comes with her station. Instead, she appears to just be another friendly senior member of the Shinigami ranks. Lieutenant Tsu brings a sense of dynamic energy to her interactions with others and the world around her and she assesses situations quickly and moves to respond to immediate problems with practical solutions. Koharu can best be described as a kindred spirit, in the constant search for an energy that could match hers. She has long faced death and has come to the rational conclusion that life isn’t worth living if one is unable to enjoy the little things in life; the capability to control the functions adults are supposed to be able to control; the authority over oneself that allows them to make decisions about what to do; the ability to be outside of a monotonous four walls; the capacity for one to feed themselves and take care of simple necessities.
Her sarcasm always plays key when she's confronted by the lesser minded or blunter of the Gotei 13. She generally can make sarcastic remarks that make others laugh while the victim is standing there dumbfounded and trying to figure out what is funny and why the others are laughing. Though she has never alienated or insulted someone because of their level of knowledge she does enjoy over-complicating things in order to confuse the minds of her opponents and create openings in their defense. Throughout her many years, Koharu has learned to loves patterns, and spotting discrepancies between statements could almost be described as a hobby, making it a bad idea to attempt to lie to her. This makes it ironic that her words should always be taken with a grain of salt. A pathological liar she’ll use any method of tricking an enemy to win including stretching the truth about certain facts such as her abilities.
When Lieutenant Tsu enters the fray, a rare sight since her transfer to Squad 4, things change very little for her. Despite the life-or-death stakes that come with swords being drawn, her numbness to the world around her allows her to function perfectly in extremely high-stress situations. Centuries of battle experienced has turned her mind into a callus, and she has long since expected her duty as a shinigami and the killing that comes along with it. What remains of this veteran is a woman who values intellectual conversation, personal sacrifice, and the conviction of duty.
As a result of her mental hardening, most fights are treated as run-of-the-mill experiences in her day-to-day life. She fails to see anything special about them, and she acts as such, openly wearing a blank or even bored face unless interested by an unusual opponent. As a Vice-Captain of the Gotei thirteen, Koharu is a responsible and proficient one. She works hard to accomplish any mission as quickly, and efficiently, as possible. A very dependable Shinigami, Koharu is punctual and sharp, never likely to be late for anything. She is also a very patient person, being an extremely rare occasion when she loses her temper. When it comes to disciplining her subordinates, Koharu has a very firm hand, she does not tolerate any disrespect from his members, and expects them all to treat every other member of the Gotei thirteen with the utmost respect, as long as it is mutual.
Lieutenant Koharu Tsu is heralded as a source of immeasurable wisdom (or infinite foolishness, depending on who you might ask). She has an extremely deep reservoir of understanding when it comes to what people do and how they react. This ability has made her a very big player in the politics of the Seireitei. A seasoned Shinigami, her sage-like advice is often called upon by the Captain Commander during meetings. In fact, if Koharu were to have any adherent weakness it would be such wisdom as Koharu believes herself to have witnessed it all during her lifetime. This arrogant side of her rears its head anytime Koharu encounters an enemy with a boring ability. This causes her to make assumptions about opponents before the battle even begins however, there have been few times when her predictions and arrogance have backfired on her. Regardless those few times in which it did still result with the same verdict, her victory.

-Powers-
Fighting Style: Koharu is at home in times of war, nestled with books on strategies and tactics. Even her recreational activities prepare her for battle. These traits have honed in her a tactical mind, one built for when swords are drawn and lives are on the line; there are few wartime situations that give her pause, and fewer still that can take her by complete surprise. Koharu is quick to adjust and his tactical reactions reflect that, with her being able to pivot her strategies at a moment's notice. And in one of her greatest strengths, her preferences in battle are ever-evolving. Generally calm and collected individual--even in battle and during tough situations. She frequently holds conversations with opponents, drilling them about their abilities while lying about hers.
Koharu's capability in the art of hand-to-hand combat isn't the most notable. Her capabilities are, simply put, "average to slightly above average". They suffice as enough to aid her in a battle against other hand-to-hand combatants, but, unlike masters of the art, Koharu is incapable of using advanced techniques that are unique to Hakuda users such as the multiple different Shunkō Techniques used by canon figures in likeness to Yoruichi and Soifon. Her knowledge of differentiating techniques of Hakuda is of notability, but her ability to execute them is the total opposite. This is not due to some unknown inability to do so, but due to, solely, her negligence in the art of Hakuda. despite this, through the use of her inventions, Koharu has created a way for her to make up for her lack of technical skill. She has created an almost impenetrable defense for herself and uses even her limbs as shields and tools for the battle.
Hakuda can be used to incapacitate opponents easily and prevent them from further combat without severely injuring them. Though her unaugmented strikes by themselves aren't anything to behold her speed with along with her average Hakuda abilities allow her to chip away at her opponent's defenses. Koharu also has an encyclopedic knowledge in hand-to-hand fighting styles; therefore understanding and analyzing opponent's style of combat and flaws in the opponent's attack and defense. She can also use attacks that can automatically knock down the opponent or use the strength of the opponent to her favor. She has a vast knowledge of the opponent's body and their limitations.
Koharu employs a variation of hapkido, a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, and throwing techniques similar to those of other martial arts, as well as kicks, punches, and other striking attacks. Hapkido emphasizes circular motion, redirection of force, and control of the opponent. Practitioners seek to gain the advantage over their opponents through footwork and body positioning to incorporate the use of leverage, avoiding the use of brute strength against brute strength. Koharu is able to employ both long-range and close-range fighting techniques, by utilizing jumping kicks and percussive hand strikes at longer ranges, and pressure point strikes, joint locks, and throws at closer fighting distances. With her extensive knowledge of the human body, she can strike sequences of pressure points, immobilizing her enemies to various degrees. She had even demonstrated the ability to paralyze a single body part or an opponent's entire body.
Koharu is quite the cunning old lady. She uses her inventions in tangent with her unique Zanpakuto to confuse opponents before they have time to react. Her go-to method of combat is most similar to that of Guerrilla warfare in which she strikes the enemy then proceeds to hide. Often during these periods when her presence is concealed she access the situation and adapts to any new information, she has gained on her target. As previously mentioned, Koharu is a cheat. Now that she is located in the 4th Division she has abandoned the need to continually be on the front lines. Despite this, Koharu is still the fighter that she once was.

Money: 15,000 Ryo
Explanation of Skills:
Battle Analysis: This is used to analyze combat specifics. Koharu can quickly evaluate what is happening and respond accordingly. This includes gauging what kind of technique was used and how to best avoid it logically. Her stratagems are used by examining her enemy. By examining her enemy's strengths, weaknesses, and abilities, she can form plots as to how to defeat her adversary. Generally this comes from taking a few blows to her as well, which she is not necessarily elated about, but in the end it can help her win a fight with minimal effort due to knowing when, where, and how to strike and what not to do against this certain enemy, especially if it's a powerful one such as a high ranking Espada.
Surgical Master/ Knowledge of Anatomy: Along with being a masterful engineer, Koharu's knowledge as a surgeon is quite astounding. During her time in the fourth division, Koharu's main occupation is as a surgeon to aid Shinigami who need to be healed internally she also has helped deliver a few children in his time as a surgeon. Koharu still carries this unique skill with her, and she still utilizes it as well. Very rarely does she ever do dissections, which she finds disgusting and inhumane, not to mention that her Zanpakutō allows her to avoid said procedures.
Learning: Koharu is quick to figure out problems, such as how to solve puzzles and tricks. She is able to retain the information she has gained over long periods of time and use it to make new progress with her knowledge. She also typically knows more about which spells do what and which abilities belong to certain races. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the woman who's dedicated centuries to learning is a master of such and can learn how to do anything without fail, provided it belongs to her respective race.
Zankensōki Arts: Basic Shinigami fighting techniques. Zan refers to sword fighting techniques. Ken refers to unarmed fighting techniques. So refers to moving techniques. Ki refers to Kidō.
- Zanjutsu: After hundreds of years of living, Koharu's body began to degenerate. Her ligaments shortened which required a lot of surgery to correct and her body curled to a position like that of a fetus. In order to return to her position as a shinigami, her physical therapy included many hours of sword training. She had to basically learn how to hold a sword all over again. Through her efforts, however, Koharu has become highly advanced in the use of her in Zanpakuto melee combat. She is able to perform specified techniques and maneuvers. Although she primarily employs a one-handed form of swordplay who's form seems atrocious at first glance Yukari has become dangerous with a blade; her ability to pick up minuscule surgeon like details coupled with her swift, reckless, unpredictable movements create for many openings in opponents.
- Hakuda: Though not as great as her other skills, and perhaps her weakest quality Koharu is by no means helpless without a weapon. In order to compensate for her shortened arm ligaments (which have been now corrected), she had adapted to using quick paced weak hits to disrupt the opponent's momentum. Koharu had learned to turn the force of an opponent's strike against them and employ a variety of locks and grabs based on the principles of jujitsu. With the aid of her inventions, Koharu proves to be a formidable threat in hand to hand combat.
- Hohō: A defensive style of fighting which relates to footwork, and Koharu's best skill as a shinigami. She has demonstrated incredible speed in battle, initially able to outmaneuver other Shinigami to the point of almost always forcing them almost completely on the defensive. As a medical Shinigami, it is imperative that speed is a focus of training. If one is incapable of reaching the patient before the injury becomes too severe, medical skill is irrelevant. Her prowess in speed has been noted to jumped by leaps and bounds since she recovered from her surgeries. She is capable of leaving fully functional after images in her wake or even moving only enough to avoid being hit, although it seems she has not moved from her location at all. Her use of Shunpo is one which is said to be on a masterful level, it being one of the very reasons she was even considered useful by her peers.
Technique Name: Shunpo Eichi
Level of Expertise: Proficient
Class: 4
Technique Type: Kidō
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: The "exploding Shunpo" technique. This allows the user, for a cost of 150 Reiatsu, to initiate a Shunpo. This Shunpo releases far more power, so anywhere within a meter of the user will be hit with an explosive shockwave equivalent to the user's physical Strength when the Shunpo is used.
How to use technique: Stated above.
Drawback: Stamina drain. Reiatsu cost. Can only be used twice per post.
Made by: [Admin]
Technique Name: Ashibumi Daichi (Stepping Ground)
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 6
Technique Type: Other
Technique Element: Air
Technique Description and Effects: This stepping technique allows the user to create a "stepping stone" in mid-air and use such stepping stones to run, jump, and/or step on. This technique does not use the air ground, but instead uses one's Reiatsu. It is gathered against the entire bottoms of their feet, creating a circular disc of visible Reiatsu. This technique is meant to allow the user to bounce off of walls and perform offensive or evasive maneuvers in mid-combat.
How to use technique: The user simply channels Reiatsu around their feet.
Drawback: This stepping technique does not increase the speed of the user. It costs seventy-five Reiatsu to use and fifty more each post to maintain its activation. Reiatsu Strength also determines how many times you can use the technique in a single activation. With a maximum of four hundred Reiatsu Strength, five steps can be performed. The count is reduced by one from every one hundred-point difference from four hundred, so a user with zero Reiatsu Strength cannot use this technique at all.
Made by: Zieg Revolver
Technique Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps)
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 7
Technique Type: Kidō
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: A movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. As speed is the main point of the technique, the method is best characterized by how fast one can get from Point A to Point B in the least amount of steps. Training and skill are what determines how fast a user of Shunpo can move. Those of little skill in the technique or those who haven't used it for an extended amount of time would obviously be out of practice, causing those individuals to be considerably slower. This requires the use of more steps to move the same distance and become tired more easily in a shorter amount of time. A single step magnifies speed for that step by ten times. Shunpo uses fifty Reiatsu per step. This one is automatically learned in the academy. All Shinigami know this when created. This technique does not take up a technique slot.
How to use technique: Focus of Reishi around the feet area and launch off into a single blurring step. It is not unlike teleportation in appearance, but it is simply extremely fast movement. It is often used to gain an edge in a single moment of combat or to dodge incoming attacks.
- Kido: Koharu is considered to be a Kido specialist. She is a master solely at one branch of Kido and a mere practitioner at the others. Koharu uses highly complicated Bakudō in conjunction with another to grant herself a tactical advantage in battle. This isn't to say that she is unable to perform Hadō spells as she too has a firm grip on their principles and how to effectively use them. This mastery over the arts of kido helped her secure the spot as a member of the fourth division.
Kaido:
Technique Name: Kaido #33: Shoshaku-en (Cauterizing Flames)
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 5
Technique Type: Kido]
Technique Element: Healing/Fire
Technique Description and Effects: This technique is effectively a low powered version of Hado #33: Sokatsui. The primary difference between those two techniques is the level of damage. Whereas Sokatsui can cause severe burns all over the body, this technique does not cause damage. This technique will not harm anyone hit by it. Instead, it will burn any wounds shut instantly. The surface of their flesh will be singed to the point that any loss of blood is halted. While this technique will not truly heal them, it will prevent any further blood loss until proper healing can be performed. Despite the weaker power of this technique, it can still be a very large one. It scales in size based on reiatsu strength the same way Sokatsui does.
How to use technique: Fire off a low-power blast of reiatsu. Straightforward and simple.
Incantation and Effect: “Ye Lord! Mask of blood, dripping with vital strength. Burn away the appearance of death itself and show them but a fraction of your mercy.” Using this incantation will prevent the burns from forming on those hit by the technique, but will still seal their wounds.
Drawback: Anyone hit by this technique will suffer first degree burns unless they have reiatsu strength greater than that of the caster by at least 25%. The hand of the caster will also be burnt. Unless the target is at risk of bleeding out, this technique my hurt more than it helps when used without the incantation. This technique cannot easily be used on yourself unless you’re decently flexible or only targeting a single wound.

Kaido #53 Shinkokyu no Seppun (Kiss of New Breath
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 4
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 4
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: Healing/Air
Technique Description and Effects: This technique draws on the principles of Bakudo #5: Kaze Utsuwa, but it refashions the technique into one of healing rather than just one to hold breath. Rather than simply sealing air into one’s lungs, it seals healing energy into someone’s lungs. This will accomplish two things. The first is that this technique will slowly repair damage to the respiratory system. Minor damage can be repaired over one post, moderate damage can be repaired over two posts, and major damage can be repaired over three posts. This technique can last for up to eight posts total before it needs to be recast. If it is performing healing during any given post then that post counts as two posts towards the post limit. The second effect of this technique is one of enhanced stamina. By charging the respiratory system with reishi, classes that are held back by stamina limits will have that limit suspended while this technique is active.
How to use technique: The user must kiss the target and blow air infused with reishi into their lungs. If they are too embarrassed to do this, the technique can be performed just by blowing air near their mouth, but the post count will be halved.
Incantation and Effect: “Life and love are two in one. Let the winds of love for all life send fresh air to every corner of your soul.” If the incantation is used, the post count will be increased by four. If they wimp out on the kiss, the total post count will be eight. If they go for the kiss the total post count is 12.
Drawback: This technique can only be learned and used by members of Squad 4 with at least 100 healing expertise. The biggest part of the drawback is the method of using this technique. Many characters will have an issue with just kissing people at random. It can cause a great deal of social drama to use this technique at random. On top of that, the kiss must last for several seconds, during which time both the user and target are vulnerable. Furthermore, it obviously cannot be used on yourself.
Technique Name: Kaido #62: Chiryo (Therapy)
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 4
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: Healing
Technique Description and Effects: This technique does not heal the body. It heals the mind of emotional wounds and trauma. A given instant of the technique can remove one traumatic event from a person’s memory or can temporarily block one emotion. Traumatic events must have happened during a post, and not during a part of the character’s history. This technique simply cannot change things that far back. The patient will forget everything that happened during a given traumatic post or posts, as well as everything that happened in before or after that could trigger memories of the trauma. If an emotion is blocked, that will last for eight posts.
How to use technique: Inject reiatsu into the patient’s brain.
Incantation and Effect: “The world is harsh, the world is cruel. Shield of love, you were not there. Those who were forsaken once shall not be forsaken again. Join consciousness with the abominations of the deep and leave behind that which pains you.” If this technique is used to block traumatic events, two can be blocked. If it is used to block an emotion, the post count is doubled.
Drawback: This technique can only be learned and used by members of Squad 4 with at least 100 healing expertise. Blocking traumatic events causes memory loss surrounding that event as detailed above. Blocking negative emotions causes those emotions to resurface when the technique ends. Ironically, this resurgence of emotion can cause trauma for some patients depending on the circumstances. This technique cannot be used on yourself.

Bakudo:
Wind Container
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Technique Name: Bakudo #5: Kaze Utsuwa (Wind Container)
Class: 7
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: Air
Technique Description and Effects:
Kaze Utsuwa is a Bakudo that doesn't bind an opponent, but rather binds air within one's self. By taking a deep breath inwards and paying the reiatsu cost, a sphere of air is locked into the user's lungs, slowly releasing the necessary oxygen in order to breathe. This can allow the user to survive without oxygen, whether it be submerged in water or held in a head lock or whatever else that would restrict air flow, for five posts of combat at a time. Five extra posts of non-combat can be used up when learned, ten extra posts of non-combat when mastered. When only learned, the lack of the lungs inflating and deflating is shocking enough that the user must concentrate on the Kidou lest it dissipate. When it is mastered, the concentration is no longer necessary as the user is completely used to receiving oxygen in this manner. In order to refresh the technique, the user needs to breathe in again, so if they are still in an oxygen-free environment, then this technique will not be able to be activated in order to save them.
How to use technique:User is required to breathe deeply inward before entering an oxygen-free environment.
Technique Drawbacks: Reiatsu cost. Cannot be used in oxygen-free environments. Must be used before entry.
Incantation and Effect:Doubles duration. ("O' Sea God, allow me to explore your vast oceans and coexist with the life bestowed upon it!")

Technique Name: Bakudo #69: Enerugīrīchi (Energy Leech)
Level of Expertise: Proficient
Class: 3
Technique Type (Kido, Hollow/Arrancar Technique, Human World Dweller Technique, Other): Kido
Usable By (Technique is available to which races?): Kido-using Races
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects (Explain appearance, powers, and effect): This technique is designed to wear out both the user and his opponents in the process, easily shortening the duration of what could have been a drawn-out fight. What this technique does is create a clear, glass-like barrier in the form of a dome with a radius of 200 meters, the center being the user. All those confined in this glass dome would be forced to pay twice the usual reiatsu cost for any and all techniques. This technique is exempt from that effect, though all other techniques activated by the user cost double the reiatsu as well. The user may end the technique at will, and the glass dome will fade into the air.
How to use technique (How is it activated?): Pay reiatsu cost and activate.
Technique Drawbacks (Limitations, repercussions for use, etc): The largest drawback of this technique is its drain on the user’s reiatsu over time. Each post, including the post that it is activated, the user must pay 300 reiatsu to maintain the technique. Another weakness in it is that the glass dome is easy to penetrate, and requires an offensive stat of half the user’s reaitsu strength to beat. However, anyone who breaks the barrier, including the user, would immediately lose 500 reiatsu. Lastly, the technique is draining to the user’s physical stamina. Moving at a speed over 300, rather than the 400, now fatigues the user.
Incantation and Effect: (Incantation doubles the size of the dome, giving it a radius of 400 meters) Stamina trumps strength. Stamina trumps speed. Stamina trumps force. Let us take the punches until our foes cannot throw anymore, and only when they are breathless at our feet will we vanquish them.”

Technique Name: Bakudo #73: Tozensho (Falling Mountain Crystal)
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 3
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: This creates an inverted pyramid-shaped barrier around the caster, fashioned from green reiatsu. Illusory techniques, mind manipulation techniques, physical strikes, and spells will all be repelled by this barrier. However, the user also cannot continue battle while within the barrier, and must remain in a meditative state.
How to use technique: Stating the name of the technique, sometimes with the incantation, will suffice. This technique can only be broken by superior reiatsu strength.
Incantation and Effect: Incantation allows a 30% increase in reiatsu strength. (I.E. Reiatsu strength valued at 100 instead is worth 130.) Incantation unknown.
Technique Name: [Bakudo #88: Isshuin Kaze (Shadow Ties)]
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 2
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: Shadow
Technique Description and Effects:
Several tendril like shadows form from either the shadow of the target or the shadow of the caster. The shadows then coil around the target and constrict them in place, causing them to be immobile. The tendrils are very flexible and are difficult to pierce. Can be destroyed only by superior reiatsu strength or superior class technique. Cannot be destroyed by physical means.
How to use technique:
The speaks the kido's name then presses his hands on his shadow on the ground. Also to make the tendrils form from the opponent's shadow, he must touch their shadow first.
Technique Drawbacks: Reiatsu cost. Requires focus, and leaves the user vulnerable during continued use.
Incantation and Effect: Reiatsu strength of the technique increases by 40% during use of incantation. (I.E. Reiatsu strength valued at 100 is instead valued at 140.) ("Trap yee black dog, dark tower in the south. Floodgates of darkness, corrupted despair runs through the veins of the land. Colossus of clouds, smirking sins, eye of the tempest beast. Ruler of the land of darkness and bearer of the name of Obelisk! Bind thy enemy before me and halt their movement to the fullest!")

Technique Name: Bakudo #67: Sukkiri Sekisho (Sneaky Someone)
Level of Expertise: Mastered
Class: 3
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: This is a simple technique. It makes you completely transparent. This technique makes you intangible to any and all physical attacks. They all go right through you as if you are a ghost. By trapping yourself in a sort of unbreakable trap with your reiatsu reinforcing the trap. This trap locks you in a sort of ghost form. Anyone who is outside of the trap which is anyone cannot touch you. This also allows you to walk through walls that are even made of reishi or reiatsu walls and defenses. This lasts for 2 post without incantation.
How to use technique: State the name of the technique.
Technique Drawbacks: The user cannot attack or charge reiatsu at all while this technique is active.
Incantation and Effect: Doubles duration of technique from 2 posts to 4. ("The darkness gathers, it blinds, it defrauds. Become the unseen, the untouched. Become cursed like those in faraway lands. Fear, despair, and rot. There is no savior from penance.")

Hado:
Technique Name: Hado #53: Surasorutoiera (Area Thrust)
Level of Expertise: Learned
Class: 4
Technique Type: Kido
Technique Element: None
Technique Description and Effects: Surasutoeria is much like an advanced form of Hado # 1, Sho. However, instead of being a directional thrust in the direction indicated, it is an area thrust, pushing away from all directions out from the user. When learned, this Hado pushes objects away at a speed equal to the user’s reiatsu strength. When it is mastered, the speed is double that of the user’s reiatsu strength.
How to use technique: The user need only state the name and push outwards with their hands.
Technique Drawbacks: Because this Hado pushes things in all directions, the user will be forced upwards by the opposite force of the Hado hitting the ground beneath them and being reflected back. It isn’t possible to avoid this because the reiatsu strength needed to push the entirety of the world would be in the millions. Also, if an object has a greater reiatsu strength or a greater strength than that of the user's reiatsu strength then the object will not be affected.
Incantation and Effect: Increases reiatsu strength of the push by 25%. (I.E. Reiatsu strength worth 100 is worth 125 instead.) ("Gods of Balance, Gods of Change, I summon thee. Under my feet do I place your tenants and in my hands to I place your might. With thy power do I smite my enemies!")
Zanpakuto Spirit Appearance: The Zanpakutō spirit appears as a resembles a classic yurei, with snow-white skin and a white kimono. The kimono is usually described as a thin, summer kimono that is far too light for the cold weather of the Inner World. In many lightings, the kimono is pale enough to be translucent, with the garment exposing her white skin underneath. The spirit of Yūrei is a preternaturally beautiful young woman, with dark black hair offsetting the whiteness of her skin and kimono. Despite her inhuman beauty, her eyes can strike terror into mortals. She floats across its Inner World, leaving no footprints. The inner world is a massive icy cave that occasionally has an extremely cold wind passing through each and every corner. Seemingly, it also has a multitude of doors and openings. They each seem to be linked to a central area of the inner world, a massive dome-shaped room, accompanied by spiral stairs, leading to a single throne chair that Yūrei rests upon. Most of the other passageways simply link around to extensively long passageways that link to other routes.
Zanpakuto Appearances:
Sealed: In its sealed state Yūrei takes the form of an yoroidōshi, which is an extra thick tantō, a long knife, which appeared in the Sengoku period. Offensively her zanpakuto is built for piercing armor and for stabbing while grappling in close quarters. Her zanpakuto is 22cm with a "tapering mihaba, iori-mune, thickkasane at the bottom, and thin kasane at the top. The extra thickness at the spine of the blade distinguishes her yoroidōshi from a standard tantō Zanpakutō. Its blade is razor-sharp, its black saya is kept clean, and it seems to be treated with extreme care. The truth is that the sword believes itself to be as superior as its owner does. Four diamond-shaped breaches in the fabric show that the under-wrappings are a ghastly white.
Shikai: As a Lieutenant who has had nearly a thousand years to master her Zanpakutō, Koharu has no need to perform any sort of ritual in order to release her Shikai form. And unlike other Lieutenants who have attained such a unity with their weapon she sees absolutely no reason to appease the spirit by going through an otherwise purposeless mantra. In return, Yūrei does not demand it. The two have an accord based on their mutual belief that action should be taken quickly. There have been many years however since Koharu was placed in a situation where entering this released state was necessary so it is not known if this fact remains true or not. If she ever feels necessary to exchange the increase of time for the slight increase of her released state powers she'd pull the sword towards her face and whisper:
“Haunt”
When she intends to release her Shikai, Koharu’s spiritual pressure explodes immediately, and her Zanpakutō shifts in its place, possibly mid-strike, into its next form. A screech akin to nails on a chalkboard bounces throughout the immediate vicinity, torturing any poor soul not touching the hilt of Yūrei without discretion. An overwhelming amount of spiritual pressure then begins to leak from her being in various amounts affecting those nearby, causing devastating destruction to structures although, her control over it has gotten to the point where she can isolate its effects to avoid collateral damage should she choose to do so. The once transparent sword which Koharu employed finds its form changed into a large menacing scythe, invisible in nature and almost impossible to detect aside from the slight shifting of light around the weapon. Additionally several floating swords, which take the form of Koharu’s Shikai to encircle her. These swords can then become corporeal or remain unaffected by the physical world. If it continues to stay incorporeal, it functions much like a larger, longer version of its former shape. They can slash through physical materials and brand them allowing for it to switch the positions of anything marked by its curse allowing for various techniques as the number of marked objects increases from two to around twenty, two marks per sword. But once they become corporeal, these blades act exactly as any other material would. While they remain ghostly white and apparently made of light, they can be parried, redirected, and broken just like any other blade.
Bankai: An enemy worthy of forcing Koharu’s hand is one worth chiding. It is exceedingly unlikely to find her forced to the point of Bankai without having talked down to her opponent first, half in the hopes of finding an opening with a taunt, and half because such extremes generally cause some legitimate frustration to swell within her, begging for a release. Holding her sword out beside her, she says that word she longs to hear echo from her lips:
“Bankai....Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto [Thousand Spirits Envious of Life / 千精神生活の嫉妬]”
The spiritual pressure that follows that single syllable trails it like a shock-wave, following the word as if it were there to fill the silence left in its wake. It is ferocious in its power. Although most 3rd seats would find themselves capable of holding their ground within this impressive display of potency, almost all below would find themselves struggling to stand, and those weaker than that risk being ripped apart by the force of the spiritual energy. This is the power of a lieutenant who's had centuries to perfect her release. Those who find themselves susceptible to emotions may even feel an overwhelming sense of emptiness and loss as the energy washes over them. It is a mind-altering experience that can leave the weak personality dejected and demoralized. To many, this is a death sentence on its own, stripping the spark out of the warrior’s heart and leaving a shell in its place. Such foes are beaten down with ease—they can hardly care to defend themselves. Upon release, an aura covers a large area around Koharu. This aura changes others' perception of the surrounding environment, making them perceive it as a darkened auspicious night. Loud music and cheering drown out all sounds as thousands of Yokai seemingly flood the battlefield.
Zanapakuto Release Names
Shikai: “Haunt Yūrei (Ghost)”
Bankai: “Bankai....Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto [Thousand Spirits Envious of Life / 千精神生活の嫉妬]”
Overall Ability:
Ghosts, Specters, and Yokai. Koharu's zanpakuto is allows the user to perform several techniques based on the abilities of both westernized spirits and traditional Yokai.
Overall Ability [Shikai]:
Yūrei, is not only a tricky bitch but also doubles as the zanpakuto of the Fourth Division Vice-Captain. As its name implies the zanpakuto itself is based on the concept of ghosts. From ghouls to specters and everything in between the zanpakuto of Koharu embodies the principles of these creatures. It allows for strategic and underhand fighting which pairs perfectly with the brilliant mind of Lieutenant Tsu's. The aspect of a ghost even influences its design as in it's sealed state its blade is completely clear. Translucency is a major aspect of Yūrei though this does not apply to its abilities as they are far from two-dimensional and flat. Each of them has multiple different applications which could greatly affect the outcome of a battle.
The first aspect of Yūrei which likens that to a ghost is the haunting cry, which is used solely for dramatic effect. Though not much of a technique, instead, a passive ability Koharu is able to call upon the cry of her blade at will, though solely for aesthetic and spice. This is evident in its Shikai transformation as a loud scream can be heard during this process for dramatic effect. Similar to how a ghost haunt's all in it's home without a care so does this first aspect. Unless you are in contact with the hilt of the ability you will be subjected to the torment of this ghastly wai which is often enough to coax opponents into submission. More often than not people use sheer willpower to overcome this obstacle but, as with any haunting, this was nothing but a mere warning.
The next aspect of Yūrei is its ghost-like physiology. No matter what form it is in onlookers have a hard time spotting the translucent blade. Ghosts have no mass nor does this massive scythe does. Many would think that the massive scythe that Koharu carries with her in Shikai form would be incredibly unwieldy as well as heavy even for her standards. Actually, that is far from the case. When in her hands, Yuhei is practically weightless, allowing Koharu to swing it with such ferocity that it can practically shatter any standard defense that an enemy can set up such as regular shields and lower-rank Bakudo, though this is dependent to her offensive stat and is affected by the standard Clash of Abilities rules. Although to her it may be weightless, the weapon itself has plenty of weight behind it. It has been expressed multiple times that each Shinigami's Zanpakuto and its released forms are weightless to the wielder. With the specific example that, if Shinigami A tried to hold Shinigami B's Shikai it would be heavy.
What powers a ghost? Well, Koharu describes the foundation of her powers as "ecto-energy." It is the energy and essence of which a ghost is made of. It is the energy source of all her ghostly powers. This energy while comparable to reishi is nothing of the sort. It is these energy particles which solely inhabit the blade enabling both it and her to do things such as; become intangible for brief intervals, communicate with allies through their mind, and even launch "specter blasts."Lastly, it is worth noting that as these particles are separate from reishi they are unable to be disrupted via reishi affecting attacks.
Lastly, and most importantly Koharu has the ability of pseudo-telekinesis. While unable to necessarily move things with her mind she is able to switch the locations of things she cut's through. Her blade is not able to physically cut things. This isn't to say that her intangibility applies to energy based techniques. While she is able to completely bypass any object with mass, techniques such as Bakudo #81: Danku, Cero, Bala, etcetera still affect the physical form of the sword. The edge itself however sharp it may be cannot decapitate, slice, or pierce. When the blade comes in contact with a foreign object it simply phases through it. During this process, it is able to leave a fragment of it's "ecto-energy" within said thing and call upon said energy to switch its location with another object infused with said energy. The technical term of this important power is called "charming."
Overall Ability [Bankai]:
What once was a massive scythe has transformed itself into what appears to be a rusted Katana. Despite its appearance, Koharu’s zanpakuto is quite actually as sharp as ever and now capable of physically harming foes. Compared to her Shikai, Koharu’s Bankai isn't as nearly complicated. While still relating to the theme of ghosts she practically loses all of the abilities she once possessed. Unlike many other Bankai which is just a direct power up of previous abilities the Bankai of Yūrei is a refining of the abilities presented in the Shikai while also being an evolution on the previous abilities; it manages to be completely separate from the Shikai but, also coherent to the theme of ghosts. Though she still retains access to her Shikai abilities while in Bankai, Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto loses all previous abilities it had. The new effects of Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto are indiscriminate and have an influence on all regardless of faction in the immediate area. Firstly, from a purely aesthetic standpoint, the release of Koharu's Bankai terra-forms the environment for about 200 meters. Her foes find themselves fighting in traditional Japanese merchant districts. It’s the perfect place for Koharu’s guerilla warfare. The narrow streets and wooden structures make for great hiding places. Additionally, no matter the time of day the release of Sen No Tamashī No Inochi No Senbō causes the area to become dusk.
The sole ability of Koharu's Bankai creates a Hyakki Yagyō. The Hyakki Yagyō is the dreaded night parade of one hundred demons – the night when all of the yokai, oni, ghosts, tsukumogami, and other supernatural creatures leave their homes and parade through the streets of Japan in one massive spectacle of utter pandemonium. Those foolish enough to go outside on these nights, or to peek out of their windows in hopes to catch a glimpse of the supernatural are either killed by the monsters, or spirited away by the monsters; somewhat of a testament to Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto’s abilities. The parade is said to be led by Nurarihyon, Nozuchi, and Otoroshi. Each of these yokai have a specific ability associated with them which can be called upon during Bankai in a form of acts akin to a show. The release of Koharu’s zanpakuto is utter pandemonium as thousands of hundreds of harmless yokai celebrate the night, creating noise loud enough to drown out other sounds. Along with this, the presence of the benevolent spirits are known to incite depression in those susceptible to intense emotions.
There are three aspects of Koharu's Bankai as previously mentioned. Each “act” belongs to the three yokai which leaf the parade respectively. It is during the respective act in which their ability is active and following the act said ability of the previous yokai is no longer available. This is akin to how during a parade once a float or display passes it must keep progressing forward making way for the next one. Koharu undergoes physical changes during each act which makes her appear as the respective Yokai. If at any point the Bankai is sealed then a cool-down period of several days is required before it can be used again. This system of abilities is similar to that of Shunsui Kyōraku’s Bankai. It is worth noting that these three Yokai are the true form of Koharu’s Bankai.
The first of three “acts” revolve around Otoroshi. Otoroshi is known by many regional names, most of them being wordplays denoting this monster’s course, wild mane which covers its body, and its fearsome appearance. They appear as hairy, hunched, four-legged beasts with fierce claws and tusks. They can have blue or orange skin. Little is known about this rare and mysterious creature, though its existence has been known of for centuries. Otoroshi are masters of disguise and are rarely seen except for when they want to be. They are most commonly spotted in high places like roofs and gates above temples, and the torii archways at shrines, which separate the physical world from the realm of the gods. They eat the wild animals found in shrines and temples – particularly pigeons, sparrows, and other birds.
The next “act” belongs to Nurarihyon. The short, comical, elderly Nurarihyon is actually the most powerful and elite of all the yokai in the world. He travels in an ornate palanquin carried by human or yokai servants, often visiting red light districts, but occasionally stopping at mountain villas as well. He is known as “the Supreme Commander of All Monsters,” and every yokai listens to his words and pays him respect, treating him as the elder and leader in all yokai meetings. He fits the role of supreme commander every bit as much when he interacts with humans as well. Because of the role he plays he relates to Koharu to most as they both are elderly figures who command respect.
The last “act” belongs to Nozuchi. Nozuchi makes their homes inside of large trees, particularly on the tops of hills. They are slow movers and move about by rolling and tumbling down slopes, then slowly inching their way back up. They most often feed on wildlife – mice, rabbits, squirrels, and other small animals – however, they are able to eat things much larger than they are. In Nara, they are known to feed on deer, which they can devour in a single bite, pulling the whole animal into their small, stumpy frame. Following this act if the opponent has not been defeated Koharu must rely on her other skills as her Bankai forcibly seals itself.
Given that the three bankai techniques are essentially three different overall abilities that Koharu can toggle between there should is a reiatsu cost of 150 for switching between each “act.” When the Bankai activates, Koharu should be able to decide which act she starts in.
Zanpakuto Techniques:
Shikai:
Charms: The primary ability of Yūrei, which is classified as a utility-type Zanpakutō. With the elaborate scythe along with the several swords that float around her being she is able to place “charms” on any person, object, or thing that she slices through. Though no physical harm is done to anything cut once a "charm" is placed on a target said object is susceptible to being transported. At any moment Lieutenant Tsu wills she can activate a charm causing any object marked to be replaced by another and vice versa. Thought typically this effect can only be applied to two objects as she can only charm two things at a time. Interestingly enough by slicing into her heart, she can place a charm onto herself allowing for her to switch places with anything marked given she has space to fully materialize ie: no human bodies. Once an object is affected by the ability of said charm the charm disappears as the "ecto-energy" leaves the body of said object and returns to Yūrei. As a drawback to this ability, Koharu is only allotted use of this ability once per post. Those with a 2x offensive stat superiority can resist it her charming abilities. Lastly one may notice that a faint aura temporarily surround's the body of the two swapped objects, creating a brief trail of energy.
Ecto-Blast: The only long-ranged attack this technique is performed simply by Yūrei concentrating its "ecto-energy" at the tip of its blade before firing in a crescent shape. The extremely cutting force more than makes up for Yūrei's inability to do physical harm as it is strong enough to cut off limbs. The strength of this force is directly proportional to Koharu’s offensive stat. Variations of this technique exist wherein pulse like bullets are fired in a large area, swiftly, in exchange for their individual power as Yoharu can sacrifice 20% of the offensive power of the tech to create one hundred ecto-blast bullets that spread out in a wide cone in the direction of the sword. It should be noted that the technique does have a loophole as non-living organisms are not affected by the technique. This means that it can be blocked by swords, debris, and the like though "ecto-energy" particles will now inhabit said object. Though useful if an opponent is able to quickly engage Koharu and quite literally "cut into the blast" it will generate an explosion knocking back and possibly disorienting Koharu in the process.
Cost: 100 Reiatsu
Going Ghost: One of the only passive abilities which Yūrei possesses allows Koharu to shift her form into one like that of ghosts. When she is in the said state no physical matter, whether made of mundane particles or Reishi, cannot actively interact with her. It also permits him to dodge many forms of ranged combat by fading portions of her own flesh and blood; any body parts or items in this state are identifiable by their translucence. She literally becomes a ghost for brief moments. By instinctively controlling the spiritual pressure around her feet, she can effectively remain in one spot, float in the air, or sink into the ground at whatever pace she chooses. This is similar to the ability that skilled Shinigami can use to hover in the air. The duration of this technique is one post, and in that time she can take no damage and is able to pass through enemies, matter, and the like. As a trade off, however, she cannot fire her weapons or use other abilities related to her Zanpakuto. Additionally, this ability cannot be used repeatedly, as constant use results in Koharu being literally turned to shreds. Her body would quite literally be dispersed into the area and she would die. For precautionary reasons she is inable to use this technique for three posts after its initial use.
Cost: 300 Reiatsu

Bankai:
Otoroshi: Penance: Otoroshi act as a kind of guardian of these holy places. They attack humans only rarely: when they spot a wicked or imprudent person near a holy place, or when one tries to enter through the gateway they are guarding. Otoroshi attack by pouncing down on their victim them from above, tearing him to shreds and devouring the remains. This is the first act of Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto’s release. A rare aspect of a shinigami’s zanpakuto, Koharu’s physical appearance changes to reflect the form of the Yokai. In this act her appearance becomes grotesque. Her skin takes on a blue hue and her back hunches over far more than it ever did.
Her hair becomes as black as obsidian and grows to the point where it drapes to the floor. Her teeth become wild and flared outward and her eyes become pitch black. She has a cold aura about her and she seemingly loses all intelligence as she becomes incapable of human speech. While this act is active however Koharu acts as an anchor. First, Koharu, must focus her reiatsu for a few seconds to designate an area as a "holy place." For this to be effective she must remain relatively still in the center of this chosen area until this area is created. Additionally, the maximum range of this area is 100 meters. When the requirements are met said “holy place” becomes under her guard. Not only does she become aware of everything which happens within the boundaries of said location but she has a minor influence on who's allowed inside the boundaries.
As mentioned in the lore of the Otoroshi it seldom attacks humans unless they're deemed a wicked person attempting to enter the gateway they're guarding. Anyone with a higher dark aura than light finds themselves and their attacks blocked by a barrier though, certain powerful souls with a 50% offensive stat surperiority can resist this. If a person with a higher dark aura than light somehow made it into the said area they'd be exposed to an intense gravitational pressure as if they were pounced on by an Otoroshi themselves. It applies a gravitational pressure against her opponent as though she were two classes above them. In the case that she’s against a class 1 enemy, they’d feel as though a class 0 gravitational pressure is being exerted against them.
Characters must also pay a penance for their sins which is taken through the form of a minor reiatsu drain while in said area. Koharu's Bankai has been noted to be fickle. While in the limits of the designated "holy place" all Characters not in contact with the hilt of Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto is subject to a 100 Reiatsu per post drain. The penance is doubled if said character has more dark aura than light. This makes it so that at most, respective character's would possibly face a 200 Reiatsu per post drain given, they meet the aforementioned requirements.
Nurarihyon: Obedience: Nurarihyon is a mysterious and powerful yokai encountered all across Japan. Appearances can be deceiving, and Nurarihyon is the perfect illustration of that saying. Whenever Koharu feels the need to move onto the second “act” of her Bankai her form changes to match that of the Nurarihyon. Koharu becomes benign-looking, her head elongated and gourd-shaped. Her face becomes wizened and wrinkled, resembling a cross between and old woman and a catfish. Out of all the stages, this is the one with the most humanistic appearance.
Nurarihyon shows up on evenings when a household is extremely busy. He arrives at homes unexpectedly in his splendid palanquin and slips into the house, unnoticed by anyone. He helps himself to the family's tea, tobacco, and other luxuries, acting in all respects as if he were the master of the house. His power is so great that even the real owners of the house when they finally notice his presence, can do nothing to stop him. In fact, while he is there, the owners actually believe the Nurarihyon to actually be the rightful master of the house. Eventually, he leaves just as he came, quietly and politely slipping out of the house and into his palanquin, as the owners of the house obsequiously bow and wave him farewell. Only after he has left does anyone become suspicious of the mysterious old man who just visited.
Arguably the most powerful “act”, Koharu becomes what she's always wanted. A figure demanded of complete respect. This "act" is able to be used on even those equal to or higher than her Class. The only exception to this is those with certain mental talents such as at least a 2 in both Strength of Will and Calm Mind as well as Class 0 characters. Koharu becomes able to replicate abilities witnessed during the duration of the battle at least twice. These techniques are almost instantly understood when copied and last at most for three posts. Techniques and powers which aim at modifying one's own form are not able to be replicated. This means the majority of Arrancar releases cannot be taken however, any abilities gained because of said release are free game. Additionally, only one ability can be mimicked at a time, and in order to claim another ability the previous one must be returned and or the three post limit must be over. The copied technique can be used at most twice per thread in total.
Cost: 500 Reiatsu
Nozuchi: Covert: Nozuchi have been known to attack humans who come near their nests, rolling downhill and snapping at their feet. Their bites are very dangerous to humans, resulting in terrible, mangled wounds which quickly lead to a high fever and death in most cases. A person who is touched or even merely seen by a tumbling Nozuchi can contract this fever and possibly die. Fortunately, Nozuchi attacks are easily avoided by sticking to higher ground where they cannot tumble, or by climbing a tree quickly if no other high ground is available.
While in this "act" Koharu appears to have lost every facial feature excluding her mouth though, this is a mere illusion which can be overpowered by a three-times-greater Reiatsu Strength or two-Class superiority by default. The Nozuchi is known for their elongated serpent-like bodies which allow them to travel along the ground. Consequently, this allows said spirit, which dwells in grasslands, to completely sneak up on unsuspecting victims and devour them. This aspect of the Nozuchi serves as the inspiration for the "act." Shadows, dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface. Koharu is able to use natural shadows in a variety of ways. The primary form of this shadow usage is transportation. Koharu is able to merge into shadows/darkness and appear anywhere else from the same elements even if said element is not connected. This ability is not only an effective form of evasion but, if used right it gives Koharu the ability to perform a sneak attack which leads to the second portion of this "act." This technique has a three post cool down period. Only those with at least a 3 in Anti-Stealth or those with 300 or more energy sensory also capable of detecting her.
The actual blade of Sen Seishin Seikatsu No Shitto while during this specific "act" is host to a dangerous spiritually enhanced bacteria. This bacteria is able to be transmitted to opponents whenever Koharu inflicts a grievous enough wound with her blade. The bacteria replicates the fever and illness typically associated with the bite of the Nozuchi. A powerful ability, when used the victim is exposed to a form of spiritual cancer as the bacteria attacks at reiatsu and reiryoku causing an abundant amount of reiatsu to be released by the affected with a snowballing effect. Starting after the post of infliction the opponent experiences a reiatsu drain of 50 which doubles during their next post, and so on. The bacteria can be immediately destroyed however by paying the amount of reiatsu that would be drained during the next consecutive post [ie: If you were just inflicted instead of 50 reiatsu drain you'd need to pay 100 to destroy the bacteria.]

History:
Pt. 1: The World of The Living
All fears are learned in infancy, and a human child has everything to fear. To them, the world is a strange, new, and terrifying place. A newborn cannot feed or defend itself. On its own, a human baby is absolutely helpless. If abandoned in the wilderness, it would soon perish. But most of us survived our childhoods, for better or worse. We were raised in families of one sort or another, by adults who did their best to feed and protect us. And somehow we got through it to become the adults we are today. But no one gets through childhood unscathed. Koharu was born during a time when humanity had not yet progressed enough in the medical field to ensure a strong survival rate for infants.
She was one of many children, to compensate for the high crude death rate among infants parents opted to conceive multiple offspring. Often neglected as the runt of the litter, she developed creative ways to fend for herself and survive. Despite this, she was never praised or even recognized for her efforts which helped her thrive. Koharu was always special, even as an impoverished child that lacked a formal education. As she grew up she made friends and was considered very bright. Despite still being the neglected child she found solace in the families of others. During this time kinship was important, and as her own family didn’t care for her she made it her duty to create her own. There were periods where severe depression followed her isolation and loneliness through these periods were few and far between. She watched as her siblings died ill, one by one and as new ones were created by her parents who seemingly had not a care in the world.
It was quite sad, if nurtured correctly she had the potential to be one of the brightest minds during this age. However, it was this tragic upbringing that shaped her. Her origins created a deep-rooted fear of being insignificant, she swore to herself that she would never let herself become neglected and forgotten again.
As with every child, there were some significant moments in her upbringing, sometimes when she did experience joy. Though seldom, these memories were cherished. One such moment was the time a young Koharu found what is now the equivalent of a twenty dollar bill on the road. This moment, in particular, was monumental as not only was she praised by her family, a feeling which she had longed for, but, she was able to buy man necessities from nearby stores and trading posts. Another one of these godsend memories was of the times she spent learning the duties of a woman with her mother. Along with all of her other sisters, Koharu was taught how to be a wife from a young age. She savored the moments she had with her mother. Lastly, and arguably the most important was the time she spent observing her other, and sometimes the father, tend to the wounds of her family. Medicine and anatomy had always been in her interest, so these moments, in particular, stuck with her.
It was around the age of 9 in which Koharu began to become ill. She was often bed-ridden and her parents had nor the budget or desire to seek professional help. The two had seen their children die way too many times and had grown accustomed to lost. The illness tricked her own flesh and blood into injuring her lungs by replacing naturally lost tissue—wear and tear that would usually cause no problems—with inherently hostile cells. These cells then degenerated more tissue, which started the process again, turning this major organ into a self-destructive machine that got worse the more it repaired itself. Her parents began the practice of leaving him alone in their sparsely lit, one-room home for days at a time. A cup or two of water and a stale chunk of bread was all they left, believing the problem was improper nutrition.
During this entire year, Koharu experienced the most painful of sensations. Her biggest fear had not only come true but, has multiplied dozens of times over. She was forgotten. Not able to receive attention from her family or even escape to her neighbors and friends Koharu had become completely worthless. She viewed herself as a burden and her family pretty much agreed. She vocalized thee thoughts and her parents or siblings did nothing to deter these foul ideas. In fact, they began to slowly stop checking up on her. There was nothing left to keep her company during the chilling, lonely nights. Her parents would return days later, enraged at her cries of loneliness, or that her weakness had caused a glass to tip, allowing the water to seep into the moldy floor. Her labored breathing was ignored.
A little after her 10th birthday she had died. There was no funeral and little to no mourning. Her parents realized that he had passed after her corpse began to emit an unpleasant odor. She was buried in the backyard, along with others of her deceased siblings, without a tombstone or marker to identify her.
Pt. 2: A Rebirth Into Wealth
At the time the Soul Society had long-since adapted to the arrival and care of these fledgling souls, placing them in functioning families who could not have spirit-born children of their own. Though there were several days in which she was without family. She used these days to gather her thoughts, and she did so by walking. She walked, day and night, familiarizing herself with much of the soul society. Her reaction to the entire situation seemed delayed. Though somewhat ecstatic that she would finally be welcomed by a family that valued her she also stricken at the fact that she was literally left to die. Regardless she intended on finding one of her deceased siblings in the afterlife, whoever it may have been.
Days of wandering had led her to no result. The Vast Soul Society had gotten the best of her and it was impossible to find her previous family amongst the many souls of the Soul Society. She was amazed at the afterlife she found during this period. She learned of many things yet, what she found to be the most impressive were the Shinigami. Though she did not know it at the time, the one encounter she had with a soul reaper would later come back to influence her decision of enrolling in the Academy. Regardless, eventually, she found her home.
The husband and wife who received the young girl were kind and gentle people. They were proud of their new child, and they did their best to give her every opportunity that she was never afforded during her painfully short time on Earth. The two were intellectuals in possession of wealth that could’ve been compared to that of the nobles.
With practically unlimited funds Koharu was able to pursue whatever she found herself interested in at the moment. Her parent’s supported each and every one of her endeavors. Initially interested in the fireworks of the Shiba clan Koharu would study under their tutelage in her youth. Koharu frequently changed hobbies, bunny hopping from one fad to another in her youth. There was even a period when she studied the tools and equipment held by the Shihōin Clan. Manically excited Koharu gained a name for herself as the young lady who was doing everything. She had many tutors who'd educated her on many things. The one thing which she did enjoy and ended up sticking with her was engineering.
Her teacher was a member of the Institute of Research and Technology and he encouraged this hobby of hers. He clouded her head with ideas of becoming a shinigami. She was good at it, and her talents would likely be put to good use in the said environment. Of course, her family agreed and also believed that it'd be in her best interest to be surrounded by fellow intellectuals. Confident in her abilities Koharu had enrolled herself in Shinōreijutsuinwith the hopes of graduating and being accepted as a member of the 12th Division. Aware that exceptionally gifted students have been known to graduate from the academy in less than six years Koharu became determined to finish in three.
Pt. 3: Her Struggling Efforts in Shin'ō Academy
As with every student Koharu had to take the entrance exam, which she passed on her first attempt. This first victory gave her even more confidence which bordered on arrogance. It wasn't long until she realized that she was placed in the third class. Koharu had displayed a relatively low grade a precursor to how the rest of her time at the academy would go. She looked at the top students and believed that she was more deserving of praise and adulation than they were. Unfortunately, she did not have a natural talent that other students had. Her Hakuda was inherently flawed and her shaky self-control made her skills in the Hohō arts unimpressive. The only class that she succeeded in was Kido as her mind allowed her ability to grasp the more complicated techniques of Kidō. This one success wasn't enough as once again, Koharu found herself as the runt of the litter.
Koharu boiled inside as she spent her decades improving at a snail’s pace. She wished for nothing more than to take control of the classes and prove herself superior to them all. She lamented her time in the academy, spending most of her free time complaining to her parents rather than spending her time with her Asauchi. Not only had she been devastated as there was finally something which hadn't come easy to her but, her parents refused to allow her to drop out. This was the one thing they were adamant about, and they threatened to completely cut her off unless she was able to complete the course. Enraged at both herself and her parents there was a period in which Koharu simply went through the motions, not caring about the Academy.
Her embarrassing failures during her time at Shin'ō Academy spread in the school’s rumor mills like wildfire. It had been awhile since her entrance and she had yet to accomplish anything. She was not only behind on her required credits for graduation but, persistent failure began to eat away at her psyche. This spawned her fear of being ignored and of ridicule. Two experiences which she'd never want to repeat. it came as a shock to her pride that she wasn't able to pass Shin'ō Academy with flying colors and the bullying by what she thought were her peers made it worse. She had already long since passed the expected graduation time and quite frankly, she was seen as an embarrassment.
Forced to re-enroll Koharu made it her duty to utterly destroy her classes. She had a newfound determination and was ready to battle to prove that she is worth more than others. She developed an incredible discipline that helped push her through her exhausting training regimen and grueling studies, all in order to rise above her peers. When she began her studies, her ability to use a sword placed her in the third percentile for all Shinigami, and she failed the basic courses at the academy the first three times she attempted them. Through not only regulated practice but, tutoring from her teacher Koharu had displayed tremendous growth in her abilities. Her other classes grades experienced the same amount of growth. Koharu has only ever had one skill that she felt moderately comfortable with from the beginning of her training in the Shinō Academy, and that was Kidō. At its core, she sees the magical arts as a way to manipulate battle situations in any way that she may see fit. This makes it the ultimate expression of power in her mind and she eventually ended up learning advanced techniques and Kaidō on her own time.
One particular incident during her second time whilst enrolled in the academy was the awakening of her zanpakuto. She unlike others had the unfair advantage of having her Asauchi longer than most in her respective class as she had once enrolled prior. Around the time of her graduation, Koharu began to exhibit insatiable hunger, a marker of great spiritual power. Additionally, she began to hear a feminine voice whispering in her ear. Though initially dismissed as a repeating sound due to lack of sleep Koharu realized it was her zanpakuto spirit after a spar with her Zanjutsu teacher. In the said fight, her zanpakuto continuously cut right through everything causing an inability for her to parry. At the time she was unaware of this ability though it seems to be a rudimentary technique akin to its intangibility.
Pt. 3: The Twelfth Division in Relation To The Fourth
And with that Koharu was officially a shinigami. Though she did improve since her first try and graduated she was still far from the top of her class and was primarily able to join the 12 because of a large donation made by her family and the recommendation made by her previous tutor who had risen up to the 14th Seat. An unseated shinigami for most of her years Koharu enjoyed the time she spent within the Barracks. She had never been more inspired and worked hard to rise up the ranks. It wasn't until she was 500 until she obtained her first seat. She obtained this position solely because of an opening that needed to be filled, and she was by far the most experienced. It was also during this time that her parents had once again entered the soul cycle. Though accompanied by loss she made the most out of her experience in said seat.
Some time latter Koharu made it to the 12th Seat after an invention of hers which she uses to this day, "The Field Monitor." This tool launched her into some form of fame as it revolutionized the way data was collected and stored to some degree. Koharu relished in her achievement during the period before diving right back into her studies and testing before she would invent her next few tools. As the years flew by Koharu slowly ranked up until she peaked at third seat. She was renown for her groundbreaking innovations which aided in battling. It was also at this point when she mastered her Shikai. Sadly, before she could even become Lieutenant she was relocated to the 4th Division.
With a shortage of medical Shinigami, Koharu was practically forced into this squad. Her knowledge of biology along with her ability to perform transplants and extractions without cutting into patients made her the perfect fit. She spent the majority of her time, however, working on her tactics and inventing body modifications rather than healing as she secretly hated her new squad. Though she remained cordial she grew angry at the fact that she was no longer able to experiment when she wanted or enter the fray of a battle to test her inventions. She hated the sidelines however because of the respect for the Gotei 13 she tried her best to mask this. she created the perfect facade, that of a caring grandmother overtime. By the time she had lived to see her thousandth year and had gained the lieutenant position of the 4th Division, those feelings of resentment were no longer worth her time and effort. Though she still disagrees with the 4th divisions' outlook on battles and their role in the Gotei 13 she endures it.
Accomplished in her own right, Koharu still has much to look forward to.
