Circumstances:
Hokori Captain of the fifth Division and Raygin Kawada Vice-Captain of Squad 13. Hokori has summoned Raygin here with a purpose. A rematch, this rematch was forced upon him by his cousin Iro during their sparring match. If he couldn't beat the Clown of the Kawada then he was truly worth not being deemed Kuchiki anymore.

"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
Honor, Revenge, Duty. Some were important to Hokori once upon a time, some still were. In Fact, in a way all were important and none were important. All were important today because they played an important role in the events that were about to unfold. Hokori sat cross-legged with Wan Shi Tong across his legs sheathed. He was waiting, waiting for a Kawada. He was unsure that his invitation had even been delivered correctly, he had stated in the formal letter that was sent to the squad 13's barracks that Raygin Kawada be requested to appear at the Squad 5 barracks for a casual re-match with the captain. In reality, he was quite sure that even Raygin with his childish demeanor would be able to put two and two together.
He recalled his spar with Iro, Iro who bound and wrapped him in the latter's bankai in anger due to Hokori's serious intent. Iro had demanded to make his Honor clean he would take his skill and power and show his cousin that he was in fact capable as something as defeating a Vice-Captain. He waited, the sun hanging high overhead. The Vice-Captain wasn't late.... yet. Hokori was going to believe that for the respect he had for Hokori's family due to Hokori's deceased family member Hibiki Ray would at least be courteous and show up on time. A face played out over his mind. Pale and beautiful, her eyes blue with sapphire light and pixie cut hair. Tsuki... What would you do? Should I give into my anger and take revenge on this Kawada. Or should i let go and merely spar friendly and just prove my superiority without severely harming him. He took a deep breath and let it out, taking a sip of his cup of tea.
When the Vice-Captain arrived Hokori smiled and finished his tea, bowing his head. His smile was warm, yet it seemed as if the genuineness of this gesture could be faked, Hokori was masterful in hiding his true emotions and intentions if he wished, a while ago Hokori didn't care what people thought of him. Now he did, and it was because of this that he was trying to understand and come to respect others better. That and a surprise that he was hiding from everyone, one that Tsuki had only just told him. Warmth flooded Hokori's eyes and smile, the most professional shinigami in the seireitei while not even close to as Charismatic as Sozen seemed to be aglow at the moment. He stood up, plucking his sword from his lap and placing it within his sash. "Welcome, Raygin Kawada. I see that you have become Vice-Captain and joined the Phoenix Clan after my unfortunate 'accident.'" He felt the wind stir up his haori, His hand did not go to his blade and he didn't even break his smile. He merely widened his stance letting the dirt sift underneath his sandals, raising his hands in a Hakuda stance."Let us begin Raygin, no matter the outcome today I promise you that you'll never forget it."
"Shhhhhhhlurp" the mass of noodles rose up from the small bowl and into Raygins mouth. The Shinigami made a few happy grunts as he chewed his food, swallowed, then wiped his mouth. It was such a lovely day, and Raygin was enjoying it as best he could. He was sitting on one of the Kawada Manor porches, a bowl of odon and a cup of tea served as his lunch. Sure, Raygin would have loved to eaten more but he was still in the recovery stage of his rehabilitation. What Raygin would have loved to have done was run around Soul Society, causing harmless chaos and entertaining other Shinigami the best he could.
However, ever since his injury during the Vandenreich invasion Raygin was forced to cut back on many things. He couldn't train as hard as he once did, and he most certainly wasn't allowed to start fights anymore. This waiting period was more to see if Raygin was going to get better, or if he was going to get any worse. The boy lifted his cup of tea and downed it, before finishing off his noodles. He placed the dishes behind him and stretched out on the porch. He stared up at the blue sky, watching the clouds slowly move across them. He was beginning to feel his eye lids get heavy, perhaps another day would be spent lazily sleeping.
However, his rest was immediately interrupted by the arrival of a Hell Butterfly. Raygin looked at the Jigokucho with a confused look. A message? For him? What could anyone want with Raygin at this point? Rays eyes widened with surprise when he was told he had been challenged by Hokori Kuchiki. Oh no...[/i] was all Raygin thought as he remembered exactly who Hokori was and what had transpired against them. It had been nothing more than a training exercise, that's all it had been! Hokori had been cocky, underestimating the power of Raygins former Zanpakuto which caused him to be split in two. Raygin had called for instant emergency units from Squad 4 to show up, and luckily Hokori had survived.
However, the challenge of a rematch meant one thing. Hokori wanted revenge. "No no no no nooohooohooo..." Raygin cried out on the porch, falling onto his back again. "It's gonna be a slaughter! He's blaming me for what happened, I know he is, it's the only reason he would even ask for this!" Raygin whined as he grabbed his head. "I can't just tell him to leave me alone, that's way to rude! Aaaagh! This isn't fair I aint even supposed to be fighting!" Raygin said as he sat up and stared down at the ground. He knew this was going to end badly, but part of him wanted to go face Hokori.
"I should go explain to him I can't fight." Raygin sighed as he got to his feet and began to walk towards the Kawada gate. Raygin wasn't going to send a Jigokucho to inform the Kuchiki he had to deny the challenge, rather he was going to do it face to face. Hokori had to understand. As Raygin made his way to the field a thought suddenly came to him. Why did he have to deny the challenge? This could be a good opportunity to test himself, to push himself. It would give Raygin the chance to see just how far he could make his body go. Plus, what would Hibiki of thought of him?
Upon reaching the area, Raygin looked across it at the Kuchiki. He gulped as the man stood up, then bowed to Raygin. The younger Shinigami smiled lightly and returned a bow to Kuchiki. He was still worried, nervous, and anxious about this. Hokori greeted him kindly enough, and even made mention of Raygins recent adoption. "Yeah, though to be honest I am not really sure why. I'm nobody really special, I am sure there where others more fitting for it than I." Ray said with a small chuckle as he scratched the back of his head. When Hokori mentioned the accident Raygin winced. "About that, I am sorry about that Captain Kuchiki. It was a complete accident." Ray said as he had taken notice of the Captains Haori. So Hokori was a Captain now? Oh boy.
Raygin noticed that Hokori was getting ready, so now Raygin had a choice to make. Fight or flight. The Shinigami gulped and reached down and grasped the hilt of his Falchion shaped Zanpakuto. He drew it, letting the sun reflect off of it, before gripping it with both hands. Raygin held the sword in front of him, to defend himself from Hokori if need be. But what was the point? Raygins reiatsu had become much weaker after his injury, so Hokori could just easily cut through anything Raygin attacked with. Ray had the feeling this really was just about revenge, and his face showed his worry.
Hokori noted the worry on the other man's face, he heard a voice in the back of his head. It was as if She was his conscious "You know that petty revenge will solve nothing. Do not fear him, but do not cause him to only fear and hate you. If we want our future to be bright and full of joy perhaps it is time to make friends and not enemies. You know that." He could see them standing in his mind's eye. She was wearing her hair down as usual, with her face perfect and porcelain, Her eyes were blazing with determination and the set of her mouth was both amusing to Hokori and made his own lips ache. Although it was just his consciousness fighting with himself. She was his "Good Angel," and his old way of acting and self imposed behavior was always going to be his "Bad angel."
"Iro wants me to prove my worth, you know that." He sighed internally looking at her face in his mind. "If I can't even beat him then what am I? I'm certainly not worthy of being a captain, not even worthy being a Kuchiki. I'm probably not even worthy of being with you." He frowned, She took a step forward smiling with a little ruefulness. "You my dear, are worth it. When you're being you, and not that Facade you're nicer than most would think. I hope that our children will be like you when you're with me." Hokori stammered red in the face, he wasn't one for compliments often, and they often made him blush. Now that they were from Tsuki whom he had only married a short time ago, he was still caught off guard and stutteringly silent when she complimented him. How silly and sad that even when only in his mind that it would be enough to cause him to become muddled.
Raygin looking at Hokori would see a distracted and almost distant look that focused again on him. He'd also notice a pink on Hokori's cheeks as if he were slightly embarrassed. "Sorry about that, I lost my train of thought remembering something lovely. Now, Let's begin." With that the Captain began to let his reiastu flow, reiastu cycled at his Hands, elbows and knees, but he left his feet clear of the reiastu. This was obviously the same technique that he had used last time, but in different places. "Here I co-." and he vanished from Raygin's sight.
"-me." The second syllable of the last word was heard when Hokori appeared within Raygin's guard on his left. Past his sword and very close, inside his guard and this would make handling his sword tricky when it came to defending. He had used the advanced earth steps, a captain level technique that allowed for Hokori to travel at three times his speed in a minor step to get inside of his opponent's guard or to weave through attacks. Hokori brought his right hand up from below looking to connect to Raygin's shoulder socket where it connected with his arm with a jab. This of course normally would hurt due to the point of which Hokori was attacking be unconditioned. Even with high amounts of physical prowess, normally the only thing where the arm met the shoulder were tendons and the like. However something else was noticeable.
The jab the supplemented with the reiastu swirling around his hand. This swirling reiastu was the Razor lotus. It was a cone of reiastu around the hand. It filed down to a point over the middle finger that allowed for impact to be connected two inches earlier then normal. What was more this cone was always spinning, which when impacted flesh gouged out what space it tried to occupy. This attack would cause blood to fly and cause extreme motor function problems with that arm. Wielding the sword would be impossible for that arm, not difficult but impossible. The pain would be immense. It was a simple attack and due with full speed and precision but the look on Hokori's face proved that it was just an opener testing the waters to see if Raygin could react. His left hand free and it was clear he was balancing gracefully. Raygin was going to need to react with haste. Hokori was interested to see his dodge and future attack or counter strike.
"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
Raygin blinked a few times as Hokori seemed to be lost in thought. I wonder what he is thinking about.[/i] The Vice Captain thought as his eyes never left Hokoris body. Raygin was thinking, analyzing, and formulating some sort of stratagem that would assist him in this fight. He began to recall all he knew about Hokori, his speed and his reiatsu. He remembered the things said about Hokori from other Shinigami, his attitude and some minor information about his Zanpakuto. As a Captain, there were rumors of his Zanpakuto, but not many could confirm whether the rumors were true. However, Raygin could have asked Shade-sama about Hokoris Zanpakuto if he had the time. From what Raygin knew, however, was that Hokoris sword had a sort of poison based ability. Anything more than that had been unconfirmed rumors.
I need to keep my guard up…there is no telling what he is going to do. Wait…there IS a way I can tell what he is going to do! I haven’t used this technique in awhile…so how did I activate it again?[/i] Raygin tried to remember the process of activating his mental ability. The time it took for Hokori to collect his thoughts could have been spent in attacking the Captain, but no, Raygin was trying to remember how to perform a technique that could heavily assist him in this fight. This was why mental powers sucked. How do I do it again….is it the one where I tickle my nose? Wait…no wait a second I remember it now! All I have to do is say the name! I knew that.
Kagura Shingan
[/i]
And suddenly there was light. No, Raygin was not emitting light. It was if a third way of viewing the world was opened up to Raygin, a completely new sixth sense. Raygin could detect the reiatsu in everything to up to two thousand feet. This was not basic energy sensing, this was something else. Kagura Shingan was the power to completely detect and predict the movements in one’s body by the flow of reiatsu in the body. Hokori, who stood before Raygin and whos reiatsu was twice as strong as the Vice Captains, glowed like a miniature sun to Raygins mind’s eye. Hokoris breathing, Raygin could “see” it. He saw as reiatsu flowed through out all of Hokoris body, except for the feet. The reiatsu in Hokoris face suddenly moved, and Raygin expected Hokori to speak or open his mouth. The movement of the tongue, the moving of the lips, Raygin could see and tell their movements by the feeling of Hokoris reiatsu.
Hokoris words caught Raygin by surprise almost, since he had been paying attention the movement of reiatsu. I need to focus. I need to filter through the flows, focus on the things that need to be focused on.[/i] Raygin thought as he watched Hokori with both visions. And then, the fight began. Hokori used some sort of stepping technique to close in one Raygin. It did not catch the Vice Captain by surprise because he knew it was coming. Hokori was at his left, and the movement of Hokoris reiatsu warned Raygin of two things; a jab and something else. The reiatsu forming around Hokoris hand seemed to form into a point. It was a shame that Hokori wouldn’t be able to put it to good use. With Kagura Shingan activated, Raygin could tell by the flowing reiatsu in Hokoris arm that he was going for a jab with some sort of reiatsu power behind it, however, Hokori wouldn’t have the chance to use it. For Raygin, at such a close range, did something unexpected. With his left arm, his high speed and animal like strength, slammed the back of his fist into the side of Hokoris face. With more than double the Captains strength, the force of that strike would force Hokori to reel away in, allowing Raygin a chance to back up and readjust his defenses.
”Release, Captain Kuchiki. I do not mean to be rude, Captain, but unlike you I am incapable of fighting for a long period of time due to an injury I received during the Vandereich invasion. I am incapable of a prolonged fight, in fact I am not even supposed to be fighting you. I came here today to tell you I was going to refuse your challenge, but out of respect for you, your family, and a friend I decided to accept it. So please, Captain, release your Zanpakuto so that we can end this fight quickly.” Raygin said as he took a few steps away from Hokori. The Captain should be able to detect the seriousness and truth behind Raygins words. Perhaps the Captain would respect his wishes. In fact, that little confrontation with Hokori just now had caused Raygins breathing to become more labored, and there was a slight pain in his chest.

Impressive, He was able to follow my movements through the Shukuchi-Ho technique. This was not problematic, in fact it was great. If Raygin had not been able to block the attack or dodge it Hokori would have aborted the Razor lotus, and only jabbed him with the hand. But as it were he didn't need to. Raygin brought his hand from the hilt of his sword and tried to backhand Hokori. To be fair, the time would have favored Hokori, for Raygin had to let go and then attack, and Hokori didn't. Hokori's sensory stats were also clearly high enough to keep up with a change up like that, but he didn't feel like coming close to trading blows just yet. He merely pushed off from the balls of his feet and initiated another Shukuchi-Ho, appearing ten yards away. He listened to the speech and channeled reiastu and activated a high level technique. "I will not release, but allow me to show you something else." His reiastu seemed to get dense around him as a golden ring appeared in the center of his forehead right in the center. It was glowing a golden color, Hokori smiled and didn't wait for Raygin to catch his breath. He could see the exertion of the exhale and smell the sweat that was coming off of Raygin's body.
He drew his blade in his left hand. It was a beautiful blade, he noted. He didn't praise his blade as much as he used to, it's gleaming polish and it's intricate design. Hokori raced forward he was fast, extremely fast. His motions blurring, however luckily enough Raygin was also that fast and would be able to keep up with his speed. Hokori tilted the blade upwards and once within range brought it down at an angle that would appear to cut right into his neck. However, the blade was at an angle that reflected the sun's light off Hokori's polished blade's side. The light was refracted right into Raygin's eyes. His cutting slash raced passed Raygin's neck, it would leave no outer damage but feel a dragging pressure as if he were actually being cut, however Hokori merely flipped his sword.
There was a brief moment of relief from the light of his sword before the angle was back on Raygin's eyes. Hokori's strike looked to take the Vice-Captain's left leg out at the back of the knee. It was a debilitating strike, one that would end the fight right there. The strike was fast deadly and closing in, as it did the angle took the light off of his eyes, allowing them to finally adjust. That was if he allowed for the flash to continuously assault his eyes. However Raygin would have been at least flashed for the first Slash and most of the second. The razor lotus was still pooled over every part of Hokori's body that it could be, save his left hand and his feet. There was work to be done here, he could see Raygin weakening, even as he struck out. "Due to the Vandenreich, we have no time for weakness now. It is fight or die."

"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
Rays left eye twitched in irritation when Hokori refused to release. Jerk the vice captain thought as he adjusted his grip on the falchion. A quick twirl of his sword around his hand and his position was readjusted. Raygin suddenly noticed the fluctuation in Hokoris reiatsu, as well as the golden circle appearing on his forehead. Hokori was being even more of a jerk, not allowing Raygin the moment he needed to catch his breath. He came fast, came almost as a blur. However, Raygin was of equal speed and his mind was able to pick up on it. Not only that, but Kagura Shingan had allowed to Raygin to detect that Hokori was getting ready to run.
Raygin knew Hokori was fast. Raygin knew Hokori was fast and was going to attack. He could detect the subtle shift in his arms reiatsu as he began his assault towards Raygins neck. However, Hokori never had the chance. Ray did not counter attack, rather he used a Shunpo to reappear fifty feet ahead of Hokori. Ray let out a little sigh as he returned his gaze to the Captain, just shaking his head. "I thought the Kuchiki had honor." Rays words would sting. He gave Hokori a dirty look and took a breath. "For someone who is supposed to be known for his intelligence it seems what I said failed to click. So let me repeat what I said again. I cannot fight. The Vandenreich caused injuries to more than just non important Shinigami, Captain." Perhaps now Hokori would understand what Raygin was getting at.
Perhaps those words would finally make Hokori realize what Raygin had said. Perhaps those words would finally make Hokori realize why Raygin was not attacking. Perhaps those words would finally make Hokori realize why Raygin looked slightly pale and sickly. Perhaps now Hokori would realize what Raygin had meant. However, the Vice Captain did not believe that the Captain cared. Raygin believed Hokori only wanted vengeance, to avenge a accident that was his own fault. He had nobody to blame but himself, but apparently he felt that if he beat Raygin then he could wash away that shame. He was wrong. Even if he beat Raygin all of Soul Society know that Hokori had lost to a 3rd seat in a way that could never be forgotten. Hokori would forever be labeled as weaker than Xerxes, unless he did something far more impressive than get revenge on a accident.
Raygin took a small breath as he pointed his falchion at Hokori. Chances are he wont stop coming. So, I need to end this quickly. Raygin looked at his sword and gulped. His Zanpakuto...no...this Zanpakuto scared him. Raygin had met the spirit once and all he remembered was the fear. But, Raygin needed to end this fight quickly. Why was he fighting? Was it pride? Honor for Hibiki? Or perhaps it was something else. Perhaps it was Raygin telling himself that it wasn't over, that his time as a Shinigami was not over yet. "Crush him, Baizou". Three words. Those three words would cause worry and confusion in the Captain. Surely Hokori had done research on Raygins former Zanpakuto, Zeroshiki, in order to prepare to defeat it.
However, Zeroshiki was not Baizou. This was a completely new Zanpakuto that shared little in common with the former. What was Baizous abilities? What could it do? These were questions that Hokori must have asked himself. The falchion in Raygins hands began to glow with a red hot light, almost like the glow of hot metal in a smith shop. The shape of the blade changed, growing longer and narrow. In Raygins second hand a similar weapon appeared. The glow fractured and exploded outward, revealing Raygins two new katanas. They looked similar to any other Zanpakuto, except for the falchion shaped guard. Hokori would be confused. Raygin looked at Hokori almost with a look of pity. He felt sorry for the Captain, that he would be forced to face against Baizou.
"Come, Captain Kuchiki." Ray baited as he took on a new stance. With his left arm out he held his left blade out. His right blade was kept at his side, positioned so he could switch to defense or offense at a moments notice. Kagura Shingan was still active, giving Raygin a perfect view of Hokoris reiatsu. The reiatsu from earlier was still around Hokori save for his left hand and feet. However, Raygin was not the one who would be attacking at this point. He was not playing the offense this game, he was playing the defense.
Remaining Reiatsu: 3250 / 4000 -200 for release -100 for Kagura Shinga -50 for Shunpo
Raygin stepped off with a shunpo, appearing fifty feet away as Hokori completed his attack set. He looked up and held his blade aloft listening to the Vice-Captain insult him. And then give him excuses, great excuses for why he couldn't fight. He couldn't fight because of the Vanderiech. Perhaps it wasn't known to him what had happened to all of the captains. Perhaps he was unaware when a Captain Supervsior Stern Ritter put Hokori through a building shattering the right half of his body in a single blow. Hokori couldn't even land a hit on him after he released his bow. And yet the stern ritter just laughed and used him like an old toy. And old toy he was done playing with, and had left the fifth squad captain for dead. All of the captain's had been devastated, none had been prepared for the Vandenreich.
His sigil faded, his technique he was going to use turned off, expanding that reiastu for nothing. In a fluid motion of actions he turned off his razor lotus, sheathed his sword, and started sprinting forward. Naturally with his speed, a gap of fifty feet could be closed in under a third of a second. He stepped off again used the earth reducing steps as the Vice-Captain released stepping into his guard in between his arms. It was a new one, that was interesting. So his boomerang would not be making an appearance today. There was a caution in Hokori's mind but he didn't care his arm was outstretched. He grabbed the vice captain by the scruff of his shirt and pulled upward, Ironically with Raygin's height and weight advantage it wouldn't be as threatening as most would deem.
"Do you think that any of us got out of that fight without injury? You're a Vice-captain, do you think you would have been allowed to keep such a rank if you couldn't fight? The Vandenreich attacked our home and shattered us all. If your ability to fight was as compromised as you think, Central 46 would have demoted you and stuck you into the academy. You have power, which i notice is different now. Whether your afraid your body will tire or you will fade. Or even if that new release frightens you, and you don't wish to use it because it's not Zeroshiki. You serve the Gotei, WE serve the Gotei. It is our job, our mandate to protect the inhabitants of the Rukongai and those who reside in the Seireitei and even the souls of the Human world.
You're a Kawada as well, Why would Shade Kawada make you a member of his family if he didn't see SOMETHING in you. The Kawada value strength above all else. So get rid that cry baby attitude and stand up. We are Shinigami for Spirit King's sake, rise up. Use that misery and despair that they left on you, let it fuel your desire to rise above it and challenge the boundaries you know now. Get stronger, become stronger then you were yesterday. Enough of this I can't fight, you can! you're just not trying to make the time your body has to offer count. Now let's try this again!"
Hokori raised his opposite hand and smacked Raygin in the back of a head. To him even at full force it wouldn't hurt really. But Hokori didn't it was more of a snap out of it slap to the back of the head. He leapt back and drew his blade, "I won't use my zanpakutou on you. Your body won't take the effects well, not unless you force my hand. Let's see how you fair, Don't play pointless defend but don't charge in blindly and attack. Show your strength."
He charged forward with his blade at a lower angle to slice upward. At ten feet he'd reach Raygin in under a tenth of a second, but it was a feint. He pressed off with his legs and flew over Raygin upside down his blade looking to cut into his shoulder using an acrobatic move. During this flip, he began to spun and in that spin his razor lotus flared up in its points across Hokori's body. The attack was quick and shallow, Hokori landed on a pivoted foot. and pushed off giving Ray room to try his own attack. He was smiling, this was the beginning. He would push Raygin Kawada, he would make him see how far he had to go and how hard he could truly push himself. He was not weak, he just pitied himself. And that had to stop.
"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
Raygin narrowed his eyes and readied his swords as he felt Hokoris reiatsu suddenly shift dramatically. The Vice Captain believed the Captain was preparing something big, until all the techniques shut off. Raygin blinked, why had Hokori shut off his techniques. The reiatsu barrier was at least being useful, while the second one seemed to do nothing. But nonetheless there was no reason for Hokori to abruptly end his techniques. Raygin was even more confused at the sight of Hokori sheathing his swords and then sprinting at Raygin, using a step technique to close the distance. Ray took a step back and readied himself for whatever attack Hokori was going to perform. His surprise when Hokori suddenly grabbed his collar was what kept him from cutting the mans arm clean off.
Raygin blinked and looked at Hokori, straight in the eyes. The look of confusion was quickly replaced by hurt as Hokori said what he said. Enough of this I can't fight, you can! you're just not trying to make the time your body has to offer count. Now let's try this again!" Raygin stood there. He stood there with wide eyes and mouth slightly open. He was not offended. He was not mad. He was not sad. He was hurt. Not by Hokori, no, Raygin was hurt by himself. He suddenly felt a wave of feelings that he had not truly experienced before.
Raygin felt shame, he felt embarrassment. Hokoris words caused Raygin to realize how pitiful he was acting, how childish he was being, how selfish he had become. Hokori delivered a slap to the back of Raygins head, causing it to lean forward and stare down at the ground. Raygin barely heard Hokori announce he was not going to use his Zanpakuto against the "man". The Vice Captain just stood there, motionless and un answering. My god...he's right...he's right...he's right.[/i] Raygin thought as he stared at the ground. His Zanpakutos began to rattle as Raygins body trembled, on the verge of a break down due to this realization.
He's right...I've been acting like a child...like I am the center of the universe. Oh my god...he's right...what is wrong with me...what am I doing? Raygin thought as he opened his mouth and took a few deep breathes. Raygin closed his eyes and bit his lip. What have I been doing...all this time...[/i] Raygin realized how stupid he had been, how childish he had been. What would Kyomei have thought? What would Shade have thought? What would Kaen have thought? What would Katrina have thought? What would Kubi have thought? What would Shiki have thought? What would Hibiki...have thought?
Raygin tightened his grip on his swords. I'm scared...then conquer it. I'm scared of dying...you wont die. I don't want to hurt...then you'll let your friends get hurt.[/i] Raygins hair began to float as a blue aura of reiatsu covered Raygin. Conquer your fears and move forward[/i] Came a voice within Raygins very soul. Death is not the end, it is the beginning. If you cannot move on, you will die. If you remain static, you will wither. Move forward as the river, flow strong and free. An endless path is before you, move forward. Do not fear your wound, conquer it. You have friends to support you, you have your power to support you. You have even I, to support you.[/i] The voice, or rather voices, spoke with both young and old tones. Raygin could have sworn he felt a hand on his shoulder as he raised his gaze towards Hokori, his eyes slightly glowing blue. "Captain Kuchiki, please forgive my earlier conduct I can promise you it wont be happening again. Lets continue from where we left off." Raygin said, his voice had changed. The voice from earlier, scared and unsure, had been replaced with one that was confident. Yes, Raygin was worried his heart was give. Yes, he was nervous about this. But, Hokori was right. Hokori was damn right. Raygin was a Vice Captain of the Gotei 13, he needed to not only show this captain, but himself, that he had the drive to move forward.
Hokori was right. The one inside Raygin was right. Raygin hoped Hibiki was smiling right now. Hokori came. Hokori came fast. However, Raygin was ready now. Raygin did not even give Hokori time to jump, or make it even half the distance he wanted to. He did not even give Hokori time to reactivate his Razor Lotus. Raygin attacked. Hokori would now, for the first time, see Raygin truly on the offensive. Hokori had been planning to slice up and then to jump, but Raygin would have changed that plan. As Hokori came for Raygin, he went for Hokori. The two met halfway, and Raygin attacked with his right blade first. He swung his blade horizontally, aiming for Hokoris chest region. If the Vice Captain blocked he would find that due to Rays strength, his blade would be knocked away. But Ray was not done, he then thrusted the second sword straight for Hokoris gut. Would the Captain take the hits? Or do something else.

Oh, that was fantastic. Raygin met Hokori mid charge, This was something Hokori could get used to. Raygin swung sideways, looking to cut Hokori in his chest with a horizontal slash. Hokori brought his blade up in his feint, but he was forced to change tactics. He'd have no time to jump, so he instead pushed off with a shunpo. The speed was intense, the shunpo bringing him out of the sword's strike and behind the Vice-Captain pivoting on a foot. The sword strike continued as soon as he came out of the step, Hokori had already been in mid strike when using Shunpo, so when he reappeared behind Raygin, the strike was already completing its mark. However Hokori wanted to guarantee the strike, so as his arm came up completely the strike. He initiated shunpo Karin to make sure that his blade cut into Ray's back. This sword strike would draw a huge spray of blood from Raygin, and cause him incredible pain as the cold steel dug into his flesh and separated his particles with the cut, creating the wound.
Hokori transitioned from that strike into a second strike, flipping the blade in his one-handed grip. It hit the blood on its way down looking to make a second cut, which was starting to begin falling toward the ground. As soon as Blitz's blade hit the blood, he redirected the flow of it. The blood flew from where it had been into a different trajectory. It became like a projectile, flying at Raygin's back. The blood looked solid like ice for only the second that it was flying at Hokori. It was pointed sharp, shaped like a little blade. Many droplets meant many tiny blades. Raygin could dodge by then, but since he had already been hit, one attack missing meant nothing. Hokori was looking to press the advantage of Raygin's weakening form. He could see smell and hear the body of the Vice-Captain starting to give way. If Raygin wanted a respite, he would have to get creative and work for it.
The tiny blades looked to cut into Raygin's back and shred his clothes further, while the blade hoped to make a parrellel cut and draw more blood. He could read Raygin's body without the use of techniques and he could predict the sword's trejectories and forms that Raygin used as soon as he began to use them. He even had a form or two that Raygin was unaware of to stop his swordsmanship completely. Hokori murmured as he attacked, "Don't give up the fight ever, every injury they inflicted on you. Inflict back on them tenfold, use your abilities in interesting and ingenuitive ways. Give your body ways to rest." He was still pivoting on the ball of one foot, ready to react both during his second attack and his speech to the Vice-Captain. Raygin would need to realize in the real world, you could die at a moments notice. So with a wound equal to what he possessed he'd have to get creative on how he managed to get in a breath here and there. But with his wounded back and an impending attack coming, he'd have to think fast.

"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
Hokori was fast. Hokori was extremely fast. However, his Shunpo was not a surprise. Raygins Kagura Shingan technique allowed Raygin to feel the reiatsu in Hokoris feet. That feeling was familiar, it was like second nature to Shinigami since Shunpo was such a much used technique. Kagura Shingan told Raygin Hokori was going to use it, and common knowledge let Ray predict where he was going. Many fighters would get behind their enemy with a Step Technique, in fact it was something Raygin used to always do. So predicting that was where Hokori was going to go wouldn’t require much thought. However, Raygin decided to not face Hokoris attack or himself. As soon as Hokori initiated his Shunpo, Raygin did the same thing. However, his Shunpo was different. Shunpo was a step, and while used to go in a direction it was possible to use it to turn around as well. Raygin had not completed his horizontal swing yet, so using Shunpo to turn caused his swing to move at the speed of the Shunpo. Raygin had used the technique to turn, and slam his Zanpakuto right into Hokoris. Sparks flew through the air as the two weapons collided, Raygins pushing Hokoris away due to his superior speed. However, Raygin was not done there. With his second Zanpakuto Raygin swung upwards, releasing a flash of green light. [color=royalblue Daburuburasuta[/color][/i] was the name of the Zanpakuto attack. The green light was something of a reiatsu slash, a beam that would fire out at Hokori with great speeds. Since Raygin had performed the technique with a slash, the beams head had extended like a T, flying straight at Hokori.
However, Raygin knew that technique was truly not enough to do much harm to Hokori. So, Raygin used a second Shunpo to move away from the area, appearing forty feet away to the left. Raygin was not fleeing. No, rather he needed this moment to catch his breath. Raygin heard what Hokori said about using his powers to recover, using them in imaginative ways. This was something Raygin already knew. Variety meant better chances at victory. Raygin was panting heavily, sweat dripped from his face and onto the ground. It was not just exhaustion, Raygins chest was hurting. It was in great pain. Ray winced at each breath, one eye open and one closed as he gripped his dual Zanpakutos tighter than he did before. This…this is bad. It feels like my heart…is going to explode…[/i] Raygin thought as he took in more air. For some reason it felt like he just could not catch his breath. Maybe the doctors had been right, Raygin could not fight anymore. This pain was ridiculous, and Raygin had not even been hit yet. The Vice Captain grit his teeth as he took a pause from breathing.
No…no god damn it no…[/i] Raygin thought as he opened his mouth to breath again. Ray had told himself he was going to continue fighting, no matter what happened. He was not going to give up. The Kawada took one massive deep breath, despite the pain of breathing, and let out a long sigh as he stared ahead at the Captain. It’s different than last time…so very different. I wonder how it would have gone last time…if Hokori had dodged.[/i] Raygin thought as he took a step to reposition himself into another stance. That aura of reiatsu…I wont be able to hit him so long as he has it on…[/i] Raygin thought as an idea suddenly formed in is head. However, the problem with this plan was the issue if his body could handle what he was going to do.
Hokori couldn’t see it, but the Captains Zanpakuto was glowing red in Raygins eyes. A red aura consumed the blade, giving it color, as well as something else. The number 1 floated just by the blade. This was to let Raygin know how many times he had hit Hokoris sword. There was a reason for this, a deadly reason in fact. Raygin adjusted his grip on his Zanpakuto and began to formulate a battle plan. But, rather than attack…Raygin decided to do something a bit different. He smiled a little and spoke ”It’s almost funny isn’t it, Captain Kuchiki? Do you ever wonder what our last fight would have been liked if I had missed?” he was going to try to get the man to talk. ”I do hope you understand…” Ray took a breath ”that that had been an accident back then.” Raygin said as he slightly adjusted his position to one he could quickly switch between if he needed to.
He was playing this smart. He couldn’t attack Hokori blindly. Hokoris Razor Lotus was keeping Raygin back, but at the same time this was not a fight Raygin could win by simply waiting the Captain out. This was a fight that Raygin had to take initiative in. The Kawada winced as a headache suddenly began to come to life. Ray recognized it. This was Kagura Shingans doing. Ray had been using the technique for too long, though he was not in danger of the worse side effects yet. The Vice Captain was going to let Hokori come to him again. Playing defensive was not fun, but it was all Ray could do right now.

Hokori's arm began to accelerate with the power of shunpo Karin and was knocked away before it could collide with flesh. His arm knocked away, Hokori held a shocked expression for just a moment. He then re-assessed the situation as Raygin's second arm came up. It was pulsing with reiastu, and as he slashed. Reiastu started to erupt from the blade as he brought it up. Hokori used his speed to out run ray's physical slash. Since they were equal and he could see and figure that the attack Raygin was using was still something to be avoided. He used shunpo to the left and avoided the upward diagonal and took himself out of the slash zone and twenty feet to the left starting position of his old place.
Raygin used a shunpo to go to his left. There was around sixty feet between them. But Hokori could see it for himself, Raygin was... dying? Possibly, he could smell the adrenaline and the fear rolling off of the Vice-Captain from his downwind position. Raygin wasn't afraid of Hokori not anymore and even told him their earlier fight's end was an accident. That brightened Hokori's perspective of Raygin and solidified his choice. Hokori was coming to terms with this new decision and revelation that would shock and awe most of the Soul Society. Hokori for the second time in the courtyard sheathed his sword. He nodded to himself, this was what Tsuki would have done. She was the best of him, It was as if she was whispering in his ears. "He's afraid, but he does not need to be. Just like you don't, you understand him now you can lead him out of his pain he's feeling. Help him, like you say I helped you. That would make you a fitting man and a fitting Kuchiki I think. haha."
He crossed the span of the battle field in a second, his Haori flapping around him as he touched back down in front of the Vice-Captain. He had a look of seriousness on his face, but there was a rueful smile on it. "We are done fighting for today, Re-seal Baizou, so we may talk. You may sit and rest if you must, but do so and listen to what i have to say and the proposition at the end." He gestured for Raygin to either remain standing or to sit respectfully in his presence. That of course meant traditionally on his knees facing the Captain. Hokori sat cross-legged with Wan Shi Tong sheathed across his lap. "As you can probably guess, I asked you here with the expectation of righting that particular wrong. No third-seat should have ever beaten a captain. You will be happy to know that i bear no scar from that injury. You see my body is very peculiar in only missing limbs will scar me. But enough of that unneeded topic."
He pulled out his note book and pen from his breast pocket and made a note on Raygin and what he knew about Hokori. He also made a calculation of if this next order would fail. Turning his eyes back to the Vice-Captain "As I said, you can guess I called you here originally with the purpose of proving exactly who is superior between us. I would like to believe pride aside that I am indeed your superior in terms of power. Though destructively you may well exceed my own. Though through recently, I have found myself able to understand and even empathize with other people outside my family, due to someone special to me. Someone close, and she has managed to change my views on a lot of things I used to hold concrete and close to the chest."
He took a breath and his eyes flickered up to the sky, it's bright blue was too light to be Tsuki's eye color. But it was nice to gaze at, and more often then not he now found himself gazing at the sky, wondering if he would still be as hate ridden as he was before he met her. His face lowered again and his eyes found Raygin's Torso, he was looking directly at where Raygin's heart was. He could hear it, the arrhythmia... the irregularity. As well as his suddenly dropped spirtual pressure. Raygin's heart was damaged, that would explain his pale demeanor, and inability to maintain his battle capabilities for a long while. He needed to have his heart completely healed, but why would Shade Kawada not pay for this to happen.
"You stated that the Vandenreich broke you, I can hear how and what they did to you. It amazes me that Shade Kawada wouldn't spend the finances to make sure you were properly healed. I want you to come with me. We'll get you healed up, and once that happens, I would like to offer you a new post." He paused letting that sink in. It was known that Hokori possessed a Vice-Captain already, so what could he mean by that. "I wish to offer you the position of Vice-Captain of Squad 5, Kyousei Kito will be moving to the position of 3rd Seat soon. He is not ready to face the trials in the upcoming war. I fear for his life, therefore he needs to step down. You on the other hand while require training need first and foremost more medical help. I will train you both, our squad will become strong and we'll face the Vandenriech again but not with fear in our hearts or on our faces but with Determination and spirit." He waited for a moment to let that sink in and then asked one final thing. "So, what do you think?"

"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
Raygins eyes widened. Raygins eyes widened as Hokori sheathed his sword once again and appeared before him. He looks directly at the Captain, directly into his eyes, expecting another shouting. But then Hokori said for Ray to re-seal Baizo and that they were done for the day. Raygin blinked in surprise before slightly nodding. His twin Zanpakutos glowed gently before the one in his left hand became a beam of light which merged with the right sword. When the two combined they became the falchion, the sealed state of Raygins Zanpakuto. Raygin sheathed his sword, before happily taking Hokoris offer to sit down. Once he stopped standing his legs gave him thanks with a rush of pleasurable feelings. The fighting had over exerted Raygin. His chest was in pain, his breathing was ragged, and his eyes had developed dark shadows beneath them. But it felt good to sit down and rest.
“As you can probably guess, I asked you here with the expectation of righting that particular wrong. No third-seat should have ever beaten a captain. You will be happy to know that i bear no scar from that injury. You see my body is very peculiar in only missing limbs will scar me. But enough of that unneeded topic." Hokori said. Raygin figured that was the reason for all this, to get revenge. However, during the fighting something must have changed. Maybe it was Raygins complaining? Who knows. Raygin listened silently, aside from his breathing, as Hokori spoke. He listened to the Captain speak about now being able to understand other people and how it had been someone close to the Captain that had changed his views. Raygin watched and listened, wondering where Hokori was going with this.
And then Hokori offered his proposition. Rays eyes widened as he took that request in. ”U-uuhm…” Was all Raygin could get out as he looked away and scratched his head. He finished hearing what Hokori had to say and turned his gaze upwards to the sky. Raygin wasn’t being rude, he was thinking. A squad transfer….[/i] Raygin watched the clouds in the sky. He watched how they lazily floated through the air with no care what so ever. He watched as they bloated out parts of the bright blue sky with their white fluffiness. Raygin closed his eyes as he made his decision.
”Thank you, for the offer, Captain Kuchiki. Believe me, it is an honor to be offered a position like that. But, I must decline it.” Raygin said with a gentle smile as he took a breath, making him wince a little. He wasn’t done talking. ”This is not a refusal because of you, Hokori. It is not a refusal due to me being a Kawada. I am saying no because I am not the one you should be focusing on.” Raygins smile vanished slightly as he looked right at Hokori. ”This is not my place, but I do hope you will consider my words. Your current second seat, Kyousei Kitso, he is the one that needs your help. He and I fought once, and needless to say, that fight ended like our last one did. But that time wasn’t an accident, I had been trying to beat him. Kyousei needs your help, Captain. I read a few of his combat reports…I know about his involvement with Hibikis demise.”
Raygin closed his eyes, his grip tightening on his robe. ”He’s weak….but he needs your help…” This was a sore spot for Raygin. He wanted someone to blame for Hibikis death, but he had no one. He was at the funeral, he had heard how Kyousei had been incapable of saving Hibiki because he was weak. Raygin tried to blame Kyousei for it, but he couldn’t. All he could do was blame Kyouseis weakness, not the man himself. Raygin knew Kyousei was weak, he had heard other things about the Vice Captain that made this Raygins decision. ”Lieutenant Kitso…needs your help Hokori. Shade-sama and Kenryoku-sama, when they feel the time is right will take me under their wings and teach me how to become stronger. But please, Captain Kuchiki, do not disregard Kyousei. He’s the one who needs you the most right now.” Raygin said, almost pleadingly. Hokori was right, everyone needed to get stronger. Even Kyousei. ”I thank you again for the offer, Captain Kuchiki. I do hope you and I will be training again soon, after my recovery. Shade-sama has already scheduled me for surgery in the coming days, but things have been busy recently at the manor.” Raygin said, bowing to the Captain. ”You reminded me…Captain…that just because things look bad there is always a light shining at the end of the tunnel. That’s something I wont forget.” Raygin said, raising his head and smiling at the Captain.

Hokori listened intently watching Raygin as the Vice-Captain gave his reply. Hokori made it his business to read people's faces, even if he despised them. Raygin was being truthful, and was speaking from the heart. It was true what he said about Kyousei's weaknesses, and Hokori was saddened by this. He wished to have Kyousei undergo the training, he needed to survive the upcoming war with the Vandenreich. There were the religious zealots, those who were even worse then the Berserker Hollow kind. They would not Eat, They would not Drink, They would not Sleep until they fulfilled the will of their emperor or died. Hokori was a victim of this kind of philosophy, and yet he learned from Sozen's defeat that there were even worse kinds of Warriors. Hokori thought back to the name, a name that struck fear into his heart and then spoke it aloud.
"B. The Boss, Baal."
He let that statement hang in the air, four words rang with Finality. He looked at Raygin with seriousness, "That one man destroyed the spear of our Society, That man defeated Enma, The Lord of Hades, Sozen Kuchiki my own cousin and head of the Kuchiki household, and the Okusa Shogen The Phantom Kenpachi. All on his own... That is the level of Power I must strive to achieve... To be able to hold my own against THAT particular general so that my Cousin may fight with others against the man who mutilated our beloved Captain Commander. I do not believe Kyousei can destroy any of the Stern Ritter. Not at his current level of power." he laid his fingers together in a pyramid fashion. I see the power to take on Stern Ritter in you, and the potential to do it one day from him. But until then, I am moving quickly to group together potential allies, we must gain strength, band together and fight."
He sighed, thinking of the needed strength he himself had to attain to destroy the man that almost killed his blood. He watched his speech sink in. There were underlying words being spoken, one man could defeat three captains... that meant that three generals could destroy their current captain's entire force. The Captains needed to train, to be able to stand on par with the Vandenreich and force their forces back. "I ask you to re-consider." He stood up and brushed himself off, "Come with me, I promised you no matter what your answer, I would help you in your healing now matter what way that I could. Come..." He took his sword and put it back in his sash. Waiting for Raygin to stand and do the same, "Let us go."
They walked for a time, to the Kuchiki healers. Many Kuchiki healers raised an eyebrow at Raygin's Kawada's appearance, but they quickly dropped their faces upon seeing Hokori's expression. He murmured, "This man is my friend, and he requires assistance. His heart was damaged in the Invasion of the Invisible Empire, fix him and you'll have my gratitude and a favor. One favor of anything I can grant that is within my power." He sat down and released a deep breath, "Do not worry Raygin Kawada, you are in good hands." He watched as the healers began to do their work, they were the best in the Soul Society and while he would not walk out of this building able to fight able bodied, even recovering he would be better coming out then he did going in.
"You look like an extraordinary specimen, I look forward to breaking you."
