The short brawl had been fairly fierce, and Kaen had suffered a gash in the side as a result of it. What did surprise the Vice Captain, however, was the results of his Darting Swallow. Aside from a wound opened over Yetsuna's brow, his blade had failed to penetrate her armor. Kaen frowned. That had never happened before. That armor was a hell of a defense. Darting Swallow Cut could have split even the Hierro of a top level Espada. That it had simply been deflected by Yetsuna's armor with nothing more than the blunt force trauma breaking through was actually quite astonishing. Clearly her defenses were much stronger than the stone. And Darting Swallow Cut was hardly an easy move to accomplish. Despite the ferocity and how easy Kaen made it look, the technique placed an inordinate amount of strain on his attacking limb, and already bruises were forming in the muscle. One use wasn't too bad though. Kaen could keep the weapon going. No, the real trouble would be if he tried the move again. Even with his prodigious strength, Kaen's limit on the Darting Swallow Cut was three uses. No more.
Not that he'd need to use it again, the effects of the first technique were quite clear. Darting Swallow alone wasn't going to be enough. Gaahhh.... with a fight between our power sets fighting to disables' a huge pain.... He mentally grumbled. And she appeared to have smothered the flames he'd hit her arm with before. That's good though. Means I can trust her to handle something a little hotter. As Yetsuna threw her punch, Kaen reacted. She was fast-- with her armor accelerating her attack, even slightly faster than Kaen himself! So Kaen's defense was born more out of martial experience than anything else. Yetsuna clearly had some skill in martial arts. But her overall skill and experience in hand to hand combat paled in comparison to Kaen, who had completely mastered both the Shinigami art of Hakuda and the Human martial art of Jiujitsu to world-class levels, and he had taken his skill in Karate to the highest possible level, mastering all aspects of the martial art. To put it bluntly, regardless of Yetsuna's speed and talent, the gap in martial skill meant that Kaen could see every single tell possible, that suggested Yetsuna was about to throw a punch.
Unfortunately, the nature of the Darting Swallow Cut had left Kaen momentarily exposed to attack and the pain blazing through his arm as a consequence of the attack had slowed his reflexes just enough that he couldn't block in time. Kaen's flame blade was shot out like a javelin from his Zanpakuto, as a last resort defense, aiming at Yetsuna's arm, less to injure her, and more to reduce the power of her strike, the impact slowing the attack, and stealing some of its force, when it would inevitably hit Kaen's chest. It'd still hurt. That was for sure. But it would at least take the worst out of the attack. Kaen felt the blow hit his chest, and the spikes pierce his chest, albeit not nearly as deeply as Yetsuna might have hoped, due to his interference. They wouldn't quite reach his heart. Still. It had been a good hit, and taking advantage of Kaen's brief window of exposure.
At this point, Yetsuna attempted to constrict the sphere, and Kaen briefly considered his options. He'd counted far too heavily on the darting swallow, and its failure had been a surprise to him. Not that Kaen didn't have options. He could create a new flame blade and try the darting swallow to escape the sphere. Or he could use Daiho, and amplify his flame's power to break out. Yetsuna had slipped out of the stone, and it bound Kaen. He heard Yetsuna demand him to yield. He paused. "Can you even hear me from out there?!?" He asked a little bit loudly. "Like.... is this thin enough you can hear me? Or is this too thick? That could make yielding problematic. If, you know, I felt like yielding. Just saying." He commented, in a tone that was very near snarking. "I mean I could yield. You clearly really want to win this one, and you've put up a hell of a fight. That cut over your eye... I could have made it a lot worse if I'd meant to." He commented. Even though only one of Darting Swallow Cut's attacks had actually worked as intended, that one cut could have been enough to end the fight if Kaen was willing to kill or cripple his sparring partner. Fortunately he wasn't.
"But you know.... Since you're so determined to win. You seem like the type who wouldn't be satisfied with an opponent that was holding back, you know?" He commented. "I normally wouldn't use this, but I'd actually say you've earned it. Congratulations Vice Captain Yetsuna." He suggested. Within the rock, a tremendous spike of reiatsu would be felt by most people capable of sensing such things. Kaen was trying something. And it came out fast. Even if Yetsuna caught this as a warning and tried to break an arm, it wouldn't come quite fast enough. Depending on whether or not Yetsuna could feel what was happening to her stone, she might have felt a sudden force rip through her stone like it was nothing more than drywall, freeing Kaen's limbs. In the next instant, a blazing shape erupted from the stone in front of her, with burning eyes and gaping jaws.
It was a dragon. A dragon entirely comprised of flame. A massive sinewy body exploding from Yetsuna's stone prison, straight towards her, moving at a speed of around 600. The beast's jaws slammed down onto Yetsuna's armor and clamped tightly its fanged maw large enough to contain her entire torso. It probably could have, with perhaps a little difficulty, swallowed her whole, had it gone for her lengthwise. Her armor would hold up against these crushing jaws, which drove down on her with a strength of 900, but it would hardly be a pleasant experience. Also, something she'd note, is that the fact the dragon was comprised of flame wasn't just for show. In the beast's jaws, it was hot. It was like being thrust into a literal fire being this close to it. And then, there was Kaen on its back. "This is a sign of my appreciation Yetsuna. The most powerful move in my arsenal. I applaud you for forcing me to bring this out. But now I'd say it's your turn to yield. I'd rather not test the full extent of Hachiryuu's jaw strength, nor want to see how long you can withstand the heat. That's assuming he doesn't decide to breathe fire on you." Kaen added. The Shinigami's outfit had changed. He was clad in a blue sleeveless Gi now, a pair of shortswords crossed along his back. Furthermore, he was now wearing an arm brace on both arms, instead of just one. Perched on the dragon's back, he seemed unbothered by the heat. But even if Yetsuna could somehow break free of the dragon's jaws, it would be an impossibly difficult battle at this point. Kaen could fight from the skies, and he had finally drawn out a weapon that could shatter Yetsuna's stone. Was there any move left in Yetsuna's arsenal to counter this radical change of pace?
