Hotaru had sat and listened to everything that was said. Honestly, she was never good at investigating things. She was more concerned with fighting things than looking over detailed reports. It's one of the reasons she was in a fighting squad, being squad eleven before taking the Captaincy in squad ten. So, most of the things that they were talking about were a little over her head.
But, the lion captain answered the question, saying that there was no reiatsu left behind at the scenes of the crime. The murderer was clever, he said, but she thought on that. She assumed, from the question, that Hollows and Arrancar would leave reiatsu behind. She's honestly only ever killed the Hollows and left, not really knowing details like that about them.
He then got up from the table, obviously done with talking about it. She was ready for some action. She was never a fan of meetings. She was more of the type to see the problem, deal with it and then move on. So, she got up and followed after the Captain. She assumed that they were heading towards the gates, and she was correct. She was really curious as to where they were actually going, since he just gave the name of a place.
When they walked out of the gates, she looked up, being in a new place. She had ventured far in searching for Asmoskon, but she doesn't remember coming to a place like this. She looked up and tried to take everything in. It was definitely a unique place, that's to be sure. It was then that she actually looked forward and noticed the building. She saw the lettering and knew they were in the right place.
She thought the curtains were a little weird, but to each their own. It's just like the paper doors of the past, when she was alive. She walked closer and saw the smaller lettering. Leave your sanity and inhibitions behind?! What a weird thing to say. She followed them down the stairs to an actual door. Well, at least they had actual security to get in this place and not several sets of curtains to act as doors for every door in this place.
She watched as the fellow Captain opened the door instead of just walking through it. She assumed that it was common courtesy that he was using the door, not knowing about the added security in the door. So, being respectful herself, she followed his motion by walking behind him through the open door as well. What she saw in the building made her eyes hurt.
She had never heard of the word 'Wonderland' before, but if all these colors were associated with it, she didn't want to hear about it again. The black and red checkerboard threw her off first, since she glanced down and her eyes just got assaulted by it. She knew that it was supposed to be black and red, so that threw her off first. When she tried to look up, the floor twisted slightly and she had to close her eyes quickly. She took a breath and then opened them again, not looking at the floor.
She then looked at the tables with cookies that said 'Eat Me.' Just from the floor alone, she didn't want to even try the cookies, though Shizu immediately grabbed some and started to eat them. She just couldn't get over everything in this room. She then noticed what looked like a caterpillar, that looked like a woman in a caterpillar suit, smoking something rather....she better not say.
She wanted to room to end and that's when the woman came out. She definitely was dressed to impress. Since this had to be a place where 'ladies of the evening' would go, it seemed fitting that the woman would wear a nice dress. Hotaru had to admit that the dress was very flattering on the woman but she had no idea why she's wearing an apron, or why she called Raion a Cheshire Cat.
She was very confused and just followed the group, trying not to actually focus on one thing for too long. She found the room they were in rather interesting as well, made to look like they were out in a garden. Hotaru still didn't get any of the references that they were using, but she was noticing that Shizu was starting to act very....off. She was glad she didn't eat the cookies.
This must be what Alice was talking about with them. Tomoe pretty much kept a scowl on her face the entire time they had been in this building, so she must have had bad times here? Or Raion spends too much time here? She didn't know either of them good enough to actually tell one way or the other, so she kept her mouth shut. While they were sitting down, Alice was going over everything she knew about the women.
It seemed that they were all spiritually aware, which was interesting that a murderer would only target the few humans that were spiritually aware, though she had noticed more humans were becoming spiritually aware lately by how much her squad had been called out for defense. Then, the woman brought up that two more women had been killed, which Hotaru felt horrible about not being able to help them.
Raion was given the pictures, being told that she kept the scenes intact. Hotaru wasn't excited to actually look over a scene like that, but she would do what was needed. Hotaru was still thinking to herself about the case when she heard joining the ranks. Before she could say anything, Raion made it clear that she would have bad luck trying to do that, which was the truth.
He then looked at the pictures and gave one of them to her, saying that they would go to East Stride Street to look at that scene while he would take Shizu to the other scene. Tomoe immediately objected, which didn't surprise Hotaru, but Raion's reasoning was sound. Then, Shizu rang in, trying to ask if there were signs of a struggle, but it sounded like she was drunk.
It was a good question and since Hotaru was lost on the references, she was going to completely change subject with this question. "I know that this question is completely off topic, but is Wonderland a reference to something? It has to be with the way this place seems to be decorated. The cat comment must be connected to this Wonderland thing too. Is there anyway you can fill me in on it, since I'm completely clueless and have no idea what you guys are referencing?"
