Quest Name: Verrat (Treachery)
Who can participate?: Anyone, excluding Vandenreich Quincy and Hollows
Quest Time Frame (How long it takes): It will depend, but I would like to say around 6 pages.
Quest Setting (NDE/DE): NDE
Quest Synopsis:
The instability of the Vandenreich in the wake of the Emperor's death has lead to the creation of several rogue factions, some of which claim to be the true Quincy empire. The most influential of these is the 'Wahrreich' (True Kingdom), formed by Lady Zaphkielle van Keiter (formerly Sternritter Z of the Vandenreich). They have begun an agressive recruitment scheme, as they kidnap Spiritual Beings and attempt to forcibly convert them to Quincies. However, their methods are crude and the conversions are successful in only 10% of cases. It is unknown how many have been killed in their vicious experiments to gain power. They have to be stopped.
This, however, puts the Vandenreich in a rather awkward position. Attempting to tackle this group with the main force of the Vandenreich would only create further divisions - many Vandenreich soldiers have family and friends who have defected to the Wahrreich. So, to avoid putting unnecessary strain on the Vandnereich army, the Sternritter have decided, in a case without precedence, to employ spiritual beings of other races to infiltrate and take down the Quincy traitors. The Vandenreich will provide the equipment and support necessary for them to achieve their goal, however the bulk of the energy and initiative in this quest must come from the participants themselves.
Maximum Number of Participants: 4
Overall Goal:[/b] Ascend through the ranks of the Wahrreich, while maintaining the facade that they are actually loyal Quincies. They will first be inducted, then will progress through various missions, gaining favour as they go, until they finally meet Lady Zaphkielle. At this point, they will attempt to assassinate her in order to destabilise the Wahrreich.
Number of missions involved: 5
BASIC Synopsis of each Quest mission:
Mission 1 - Baptism - Medium - Participants will wake, and find themselves restrained with two Quincies standing over them. They will have just failed a true conversion, and these Quincies will now be 'disposing' of the participants, by using Hollow bait to lure Hollows. When they leave, the participants will be approached by a Vandenreich member who will offer them their mission. They then must take care of the Hollows, and persuade the Quincies of the Wahrreich to induct them in as members. All 4 participants are separate at this point.
Mission 2 - Confession - Medium - Participants will gather at the Wahrreich base of operations with other new members. The task here is to try and identify the other 3 participants. This mission has a 5 post limit, and will end whether or not all the participants have identified one another.
Mission 3 - Communion - Hard - Participants will take on their first quest as members of the Wahrreich. They will receive QP based on how well they perform, in both the context of the mission and in keeping up their disguise. There will be 3 members on each quest, however these will be a mix of NPC Wahrreich members and participants. Ingenuity will be rewarded here - if you can further your reputation as a reliable member of the Wahrreich, or do things that will provide you with a tactical advantage, you will receive more QP.
Mission 4 - Matrimony - Hard - All participants with a sufficient rank will meet with Lady Zaphkielle. If there are participants who have not achieved a sufficient rank, successful participants can attempt to persuade Lady Zaphkielle that they are worth promoting. Participants must continue to keep up the masquerade at this stage. They will receive a special mission which they must complete together in order to gain Lady Zaphkielle's favour.
Mission 5 - Verrat - Hard (Possibly VERY Hard) - Participants must attempt to assassinate Lady Zaphkielle, and any of her aides that are accompanying her at the time.
Recommended Class for entry:[/b] Any class. Earlier missions will have enemies scaled to participant's class. However, in missions 4 and 5 Enemies will be from Class 3 to Class 1.
Special Conditions: All participants start this quest as Rank 1, regardless of their previous Rank. Rank can be upgraded throughout the quest by spending QP, costs for this will be posted when this becomes available. QP in this Quest is not a currency, but is a measure of how much influence you have in the Wahrreich. If your QP falls below 0, you are 'found out' and are immediately kicked out of the Wahrreich, and fail the quest.
All non-Quincy participants will receive a 'modified Quincy bangle' from the Vandenreich which they MUST use in order to keep up their disguise. This bangle can only be used in this thread.
Item Name: Modified Quincy Bangle
Item Type:: Weapon/Tool
Item Rank: A
Item Description: This bangle was designed by the Vandenreich for the express purpose of allowing non-Quincies to enter the Wahrreich. While worn, this bangle suppresses the user's own reiatsu, and replaces it with a Quincy reiatsu signature. It also disquises non-release techniques as Quincy techniques. To everyone else, the user appears to be a Quincy. However, it also allows them to use the most basic Quincy ability - forming a bow and firing arrows. Users can form the same bow as a Class 7 Quincy, but can fire arrows up to their own Class (for normal arrow costs). The bangle also acts as a pseudo-Quincy cross, and draws in 100 reiatsu every post. However, the user's normal reiatsu is entirely suppressed while wearing this, and they cannot use any of their natural releases. To remove this bangle, one must break it entirely, rendering it useless. It can, however, be repaired if the user has the crafting skills required to create an A rank item. If this is broken in front of a Wahrreich Quincy with more than 50 Energy Sensory, the user's QP will automatically drop to 0 unless that Quincy can be persuaded not to report (or killed).
The other special condition is that of posting times. After every DM post, participants will have 168 hours (a week) to either make a post, or contact the DM saying they would like an extension to this time. Failure to do either of these things will be called a 'failure to report' and will result in 50 QP being deducted from that character. This penalty will double for every subsequent 'failure to report'.
