They had chosen to go up into the barracks and Vannan wasn't too happy about it at all. There was something unholy about the aura coming up off of the lab.Still he had no choice but to accept the decision and keep on. There was no argument he could raise up with his superiors about how this was a bad idea. Still at the very least they weren't in the god awful sewers with that horrid stench, but that was no replaced with this horrific aura around everything, so it really was the lesser of two evils for Vannan.
Still he might as well make the most of it while he was here. Seeing how there was no one around besides his fellow quincies he took a look around the laboratory. As he did look around he really wished that he didn't each new object that he saw caused him more and more distress. One half of the lab seemed to be dedicated to tools used to cut open people and experimentation. He had no clue as to what most of those things did, however he did know one thing about them. He didn't want to be the one on the table facing up seeing those things coming toward him.
As bad as this side of the lab was far far worse. There were countless bodies in a giant glass cylinders all around in rows. Some he could tell what they were a few hollows and some humans, maybe fullbringers maybe quincies, but in some tubes there creatures that didn't match anything he had learned about. They seemed almost demonic and monstrous as if they were creatures right out of hell. As he looked at the poor souls in the tubes he noticed them. They seemed to be human, however one limb was horribly disfigured just like those creatures that he couldn't identify.
While this was a horrific and barbaric display what really got him was the woman in the tube. Not because she was beautiful or even attractive. It was her stomach that made him angry. That bulge in her stomach reminded him of one thing, his mother when she was pregnant. It made him angry, a child shouldn't bare the sin's of their parent at all. This wasn't fair at all, he didn't know how Caesar or Hadrian would react to this, but he was angry. Vannan placed a hand on the glass of the tank of the female and held his head down. We're suppose to be the monsters not the shinigami, they're suppose to be the protectors. How is this protecting anyone.
Vannan stepped away from tank and looked back at the computers that were behind him. While there was something on the screen he didn't want to pay too much attention to the computers. He was a texter not a computer genius, so even if Caesar and Hadrain wanted him to get any info from the computers he couldn't. Still it didn't hurt him to read what was on the screens. There really was nothing of too much interest to him in the room and that's when he saw it. Just sitting there on a table.
It was a red eyeball suspended in the same green liquid as the tanks sitting in a little glass bottle. It couldn't of been more that a few inches tall yet for some reason it called out to him. Vannan wanted to pick up the bottle, but he kept himself from doing so. Still that didn't stop his body from moving toward it, he didn't know what, but something was calling him to the bottle. As he reached the table he looked away from it and back at Caesar and Hadrian. He wondered what they had in mind for the time being after all they were in an enemy's lab and they couldn't stick around for too long. “Sorry to speak out sirs, but is there anything you all see here that you think could help us? If not we should get moving.”
