Sozen intended to kill both Arrancar then and there when he first laid his eyes on them. One was a rotting carcass whose body did not pulse with even a modicum of life, and the other was an entitled seeming child with only arrogance instead of blood, and who did not build his body correctly. He was too built, and it would slow him down in actual combat. They did not look very powerful. Both opponents looked extraordinarily cocky and weak. Sozen put his thumb to the guard of his Zanpakuto, and he considered drawing it. It would not take long at all.
Alas, it was not yet his time to fight. He could feel his hatred boiling to the surface. He had not recovered himself from the death of his Kuchiki comrade, Hibiki, and moreso his hatred had not diminished in the least. He wanted to kill all of the Arrancar and Hollows alike, and he especially wanted to make Kuroi suffer for threatening his beloved and precious family. Now was not the time to unleash that hatred. However, the undaunted darkness in Sozen's eyes was not especially difficult to miss. The loathing with which he observed the two Arrancar was obvious. His relaxed expression did not change, but his eyes seemed to appear a darker shade of red than normal.
However, Sozen was snapped out of it by his cousin volunteering to take them on. Sozen's eyes did not widen in surprise, for he had expected this, and he knew that he should have known to expect it too. Hokori was a loyal family member, and this was irreplaceable. Loyalty, one of the most important virtues of all, was something which all of Sozen's family blessedly held in their hearts and souls. The Sixth Division Captain took his hand off of his sword, knowing that not only could Hokori deal with the Arrancar, but that he was making a sacrifice of honor to do it. Hokori's intention had most probably been to team up with his cousins for the Espada, not for these small fry.
"Catch up with us," Sozen ordered Hokori with a reassuring smile, the calm and aloof smirk trademark of one of such high status as himself, for it was only as expected of the Esteemed Head of the Noble Kuchiki Family to be able to craft such a meticulously Cheshire smile. "We're off." He jumped back out through the hole in the floor. Sozen was hoping that Hokori would finish those Arrancar quickly, and rejoin them. He hated the idea of the group splitting up. If Kyomei and Kaen followed Sozen, then Kyomei could probably create another key, adjust the trajectory a little, and launch them back up until they encountered another problem.
