Introduction
Hi, and welcome to Bleach: Online World! Before you begin reading the rules, I'd just like to give you a quick intro of what this is. My name is Alex, but on the site everyone knows me as Zouma, Sasuke, or Ad-Gin. I'm the Admin for Bleach: Online World, and I own several characters such as Kuroi Naito and Shinsei Tan'O. You are about to embark on a journey of epic proportions, reaching across the four corners of the globe and whole other worlds with your character. Here at Bleach: Online World, you will create a character, or numerous characters, that will live and travel throughout whichever world he or she belongs to, going on Quests and Adventures, or simply living life the way it is. This is the place you can come to and melt away for a couple of hours and relax as you become an entirely different person. Be whoever you want to be, and live like the sky.
You can choose from all sorts of fun roleplay activities and games, and run on a completely fair and fun system. There are all sorts of different threads. Bleach: Online World is an Alternate Universe (AU) Forum that doesn't possess any of the original characters from the anime or manga. Be ready to embark on your epic journey, and don't hesitate to ask questions if you are confused! Coming from all of us that are already a part of this fantastic community, we hope that you enjoy your stay at Bleach: Online World! What Is Roleplay and How Did It Originate?
Roleplay (RP for short) is when a person dons the identity of a different person; whether that person be a real life hero or simply a fictional favorite. There are many various ways of roleplaying. In fact, you and a group of friends have probably done it before. There are very few people in the world that have not roleplayed during their life span. Most people that roleplay in real life are small children that play games such as Cops and Robbers, in which some people pretend to be robbers and others as cops. People may also play Wedding and roleplay as the bride and groom. These are the most basic forms of roleplay, and have been done for thousands of years, long before computers or technology ever existed. Even acting can be considered roleplay since the person takes on an entirely different (albeit scripted) persona.
Another way that Roleplay can be done is through table games games like Dungeons and Dragons. There, you generate a character and roll the dice to determine strengths and weaknesses. This has a longer lasting, more detailed point. Your character must go on an adventure and complete the proper objective with the powers that he or she obtains. Games like this can also be played with paper by simply speaking while tallying up scores and events. One way that I used to do it back in elementary school was to have a whiteboard and draw on it. People would invent characters and I would draw them. We would roll dice to determine what happened, and we would draw everything as events unfolded.
Yet another way to roleplay is through MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) like World of Warcraft. In these games, you choose a character type and species from a set list and your character can unlock higher-level powers based on his or her choices and training, adventures, and experiences. This is actually very close to the roleplay that we do here on this site.
On the internet, there are officially two non-video game forms of roleplay. First, there is what is called "Chat Roleplay" or "Flash Roleplay." This is when people on a chat place their actions with action marks, such as asterisks or hyphens, and play a game using those actions. Usually, players will only battle when it comes to Chat Roleplay and do no other activities. This can be fun, though it does eventually get boring.
The type of Roleplay that we do here on this site is known as "Forum Roleplay" or "Paragraph Roleplay" (Para for short). This is where large-scale forums are set up to support an entire fictional world or universe for players to roleplay on. Here, characters can be created and logged, stored, and kept track of in the universe of Bleach. Here, you create a character and grow stronger through life and experiences, and that character is stored for reference. Paragraph Roleplay is one of the best types, because while video games like Oblivion or Fallout are fun, there ARE some limits that you can't cross. Here, there are no limits. You make all of your decisions. Feel like cussing out the overpriced merchant? Go for it! Feel like climbing that mountain that's blocked by an invisible barrier during a video game? Go for it! Feel like eating little children? Well, there are some things that you shouldn't do.
In order to begin your experience, it is necessary to create an account because you are not allowed to post without one unless it's in the "Affiliates and Advertising" or "Free RP" boards. If you attempt to roleplay without an account, your posts will be deleted. Also, please do not make an account or character unless you actually intend to roleplay here. It is annoying unused accounts and characters are left sitting around the forum. To create an account, simply scroll to the top of the page and click the link next to the banner that says "Register." Please do not ask another member to register your account on their email or to create your account for you. You are prohibited from creating an account name that is in some way vulgar or offensive.
