Zanken grinned. The training was going well. "All right. First lets test how strong you can get it. Use Rikujukuro on that dummy behind me. It has a force and strength gauge on it, so we can see how well you can use it on your first try. Then try it with the Incantation on the dummy. After that, practice on me for a bit and try to improve from the first try. By the end, we'll try again and see what the results are." said Zanken. "The incantation for it is this, Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!"

Manabu turned and pointed at the dummy. "Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro!" Six rods of light appeared and slammed into the dummy. The gauges lit up and indicated some low levels. This would hold an academy student or a newly formed Hollow, but it would not have much effect on more powerful beings. Manabu pointed again.
"Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six! Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro!" This time the gauges read a little higher. Still, anyone with a little power would be able to break out of this kido without much difficulty. Manabu breathed for a bit and then turned and pointed at Zanken.
"Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro!" The six rods appeared and slammed into Zanken. Manabu was expecting them to shatter like the time he used Horin against Gritzwald, but they didn't! They rods actually stayed there. It probably wouldn't take much for Zanken to break the kido, but this was already better than Manabu had expected.

Zanken stood there smiling as the rods crashed into him. Zanken was able to see how strong Manabu was because of this. Hmm... interesting.. Zanken thought. Zanken then used his superior Reitsu Strength to shatter the Kido. Zanken looked at Manabu and said, "Keep them coming."

This will be good...[/i] Manabu pointed at Zanken again. "Hai, Gairan-fukutaicho! Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six! Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Rikujukuro! Manabu kept it up as long as he could, firing bakudo into the Vice Captain. He kept his stance and fired until he collapsed. He lay on the ground panting while his arm trembled and shook. Firing 15 kido of that level would be impossible for him if done properly, but he was just learning, so the power required and expended was greatly reduced. Even so, the 15 certainly took their toll.

Zanken grinned as the multitude of Kido was coming at him. This was great! Zanken broke the first one with a little bit of effort, it was stronger because of the Incantation. The next one came and he broke through that one as well. They kept coming and coming. It wasn't to hard for Zanken to break through them, but it DID expend a bit of his stamina each time. By the time the final one was broken, Zanken was panting from the flurry of Rikujukuro. Zanken walked over to Brock's trembling body, got out a flask of cold water, and splashed it in his face to help him get up. Zanken poured some water into a cup and handed it to him, while Zanken drank the rest. Zanken looked at Manabu and then said, "You hesitate when you cast Kido. Did you know that? I only realized it after that first Rikujukuro. Whether conciously or not, you seem to hesitate when you cast Kido. That reduces the power of the spell. Its something that can be corrected though, all you have to do is isolate the source of whats making you hesitate and get rid of it."

"No. I had no idea. Perhaps I am observing myself while I do it. I suppose hesitation is usually rooted in fear. What would I be afraid of? I suppose I would be afraid to fail. I would expect someone as nervous as myself to worry about casting. Is that your assessment, Gairan-fukutaicho?"

Zanken nodded a bit and then also said, "That could also be part of your nature as a scholar. Scholars don't like to fail right? You want to get strong, and perhaps you don't want to fail to get strong enough. Because of this, your attention would be split between worrying about if you didn't make the Kido strong enough and actually casting it. That could be another part of it."

"I don't know of anyone who actually likes to fail, Fukutaicho." Manabu stood up and pointed at the dummy. He breathed slowly and gradually relaxed his body all over. Soon his mind was blank.
"Rikujukuro." The indicators on the dummy lit up as the rods slammed into it. This one was easily twice as powerful as his first one, though it still wasn't much. "Slowly."

"Good! Good! Much better. Keep working like that and you're bound to become stronger!" Zanken said enthusiasticly. This was going great. Training like this gave great results. Manabu had already doubled his original power from the first part! "All right, now try it with the Incantation. The Incantation unlocks even more of the Kido's power, and now that you surpassed your original by double, lets see how strong it is with the Incantation now, eh?" Zanken said grinning. This was fun!!

"Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six. Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro. The rods slammed into the dummy once again, and the indicators indicated triple the strength of the very first one. On the one hand, 300% of progress was really something, but on the other hand, three times not very much at all is still not very much. Progress is always easy in the beginning of these sorts of things. The real challenge would be making progress like this later on.

Zanken grinned even more. All right, time to give Manabu a goal to surpass. "All right. Let me show you something." Zanken said. Zanken quickly pointed his own finger at the dummy and called out, "Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro." and six rods of light crashed into the dummy. The indicators went up a lot, a whole lot, easily surpassing Manabu's results before. Zanken then pointed again, and said, "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six. Bakudo #61: Rikujukuro." and the rods appeared and slamed into the dummy again, this time with even higher results.
"Now, can you guess why I just did that?" Zanken asked, with a grin on his face.

"Of course I can guess. I may not guess correctly, but I can guess. I would imagine you wanted to demonstrate how powerful I can or should expect my Rikujukuro to become and demonstrate the potential difference between the kido with and without the incantation."

"Partially true. What I did this for was to set a goal for you. If you can get your Rikujukuro's strength up to where I have it, and if you train much harder and become even more experienced, you could learn Danku with ease. Also, doing this will not only enable you to learn and cast even greater Kido, it will also help you in combat. The stronger and more rapidly you can cast Kido, the greater effect it will have." Said Zanken, finishing.
"Well! We got a lot done today. Is there anything else you want to do before we go?" Zanken said.

"There is one thing that perhaps you can help me with. I'm developing a new technique. You saw me use it earlier. I use my reiatsu to form needles. I believe the applications are endless, and I'm actually hoping this will lead me to other ideas. For now though, I really need to get this worked out. Do you have any advice?
