Heh. Looks like his kick had landed afterall! Well.... against the leader of the Bount, even that was to be a victory in and of its self. Especially handicapping himself as he had. But he could still keep fighting! This wasn't the end of the fight! Well.... unless they were fighting under pointfighting rules, which they weren't. So the only logical thing to do was keep going! Kaen wasn't hugely bothered by the wound that removing his top had left on his back. He'd get the fourth squad to look at it later, and in a worst case scenario it just meant he'd be sporting a nice little scar.
And then a wave of heat blasted at Kaen. Kaen lowered his head, and covered his face with one arm to shield himself from it. Dammit! He knew that was what Jin wanted but there wasn't another option at that range. He just had to hope that what Jin did next wouldn't be too bad. But there was a split second lull. The moment Jin was charging her other attack. Well, Kaen knew dodging wouldn't work very well. And he knew where Jin was, from the waves of heat.
So Kaen went on the offense. He was close enough to hit Jin so that's what he tried to do, firing off a heavy jab directly at Jin's jaw. He'd have enough time to fire off the hit before Jin launched the attack. Hopefully it'd redirect the blast a little to reduce the injury he took but there was no avoiding it. Kaen got hit by the blast and was launched backwards, slamming into the steel beam, and richocheting, hitting the ground and rolling a bit. "Itai....." He groaned. "That really hurt...."
He twitched his arm and tried to get up, but stumbled back down. His body wasn't listening to him properly. He could feel the burns across his body, but he was at least somewhat used to them. Hell, in training against his zanpakuto he outright spent his time punching and kicking a dragon made out of fire! He could handle a few burns. He was still conscious.... just his body wasn't moving too well.
Kaen picked out his zanpakuto lying not too far from himself and reached over to it, curling his fingers, not around the hilt, as he couldn't reach it, but the blade. A little blood streamed from his hand as he grabbed the razor sharp edge of the blade and suddenly brought the blade thrusting backwards, and stabbed it into his side. The sudden pain flushed through his body, triggering a massive adreneline rush. Why was this important. The adreneline was letting Kaen ignore the condition of his body and the shinigami suddenly jumped up to his feet, wincing from the wound he'd just inflicted in his side. He flipped the zanpakuto so that he held it properly by the hilt and flipped it into reverse grip...
And then sighed. "Nah... not right. I guess it is my loss." He admitted out loud. "I said I wouldn't use my zanpakuto. The fact I was forced to use it means I lose this round, Jin Yamada." He stated. He lifted his hand to the sheath on his back to sheath the blade. The blade was noticeably trembling from the effort Kaen was having to exert.
Kaen grinned. "Arigatou." He told him. "That was a performance much better befitting the man who calls himself the leader of the Bount." He told him as he strode over to the training apparatus he'd been using earlier and repossessed his gigai. "But, unfortunately, my time here's up. I gotta be going... back." He said as he staggered a little. Yep. He'd be feeling that in the morning. Whatever.
Kaen turned around, leaving it behind. He'd have some squad 12 guys come back to pick it up later. There was no way he could pull it out on his own. "Seeya around, Yamada-san. I'll be much stronger the next time we meet." He announced as he slipped out the warehouse door. He looked out at the nearby city as he did so and took in a breath of fresh air. He glanced at his pocket where he was carrying a couple spare chocolate bars with a grin. Seriously. This was a good trip! He thought. Well then. Let's get going! He added mentally as he would walk away with a little stumble, out of Yamada's sight.
