Colina sighed as she stood on the rooftop over the moonlit buildings of Karakura town’s business district. The downtown smelled of cheap cigarettes and booze from the denizen’s milling around below, hopping between the bars and laughing amongst themselves. This made Colina feel slightly lonesome and cold, mostly due to her recent lack of companionship. Since returning to hollow form, she hadn’t really had much company while searching for meals and trying to get in a good bite. Speaking of, Colina looked up to the sky and saw a hollow flying in the dark spaces between the moon and the lights beaming from the towers stretching up to the night stars. The hollow itself looked more like a manta ray than anything, apart from the exceptionally large mask with horns and large shark-like teeth. Colina moved herself into a crouch, bending her legs and looking up at her target, readying herself to fly through the night sky.
Upon launching herself off of the roof of the building Colina had been resting upon, she soared through the chilly night air with her black fur rippling through the wing that buffeted against her body. She sailed through the air, maneuvering her arms in front of her as she did so as to make her claws into a spear tip for her body. She was like a dagger or an arrow, flying towards the hollow in the sky which began to look bigger and bigger as she was approaching it. It even possibly rivaled a Menos, Colina had thought to herself during her approach, being a massive blob of black that was hiding in the darkness of the abyss between starlight. Upon contact with the hollow, it released a booming howl the vibrated the air around them as Colina began to tear her way into its body.
Colina began clawing and tearing into the beast, feeling it suddenly jerking and turning in the air in its attempt to escaped from her attack. Colina also noticed that it was not smooth skin that covered the hollow but instead thousands of tiny feathers that all fluttered in unison to catch the air and keep it aloft in the air. It was odd and looked smooth and silky from afar but up close the illusion was shattered with a surprising realism that took Colina off guard for a moment. That was when Colina got to see the secondary use of these feathers and how this hollow most likely hunted for its prey. A group of the feathers in a large circle around where Colina had pierced the hollow twirled and became pointed before launching from the hollow’s body. They remained attached by a natural wire as they launched to pierce Colina.
Colina decided she would avoid the worst of this attack by continuing to burrow within the hollow, breaking through skin and flesh as she tore into the center of its body. She swam through the viscera as her claws tore and shredded meat from bone, muscle from tendon, and blood from tissue. She became like a cold yet raging cyclone of claws and teeth inside of the hollow as it continued to roar and squirm like a massive whale being devoured from within. When Colina finally got to its mask, it had already lost its will to fight and began to dive towards the ground below. And Colina remained inside, cushioned from any damage by her target as it collided with a field of grass just outside of Karakura town. Colina burst from behind its mask, snapping it to pieces while still covered in the crimson blood. She wore it like a flag as the hollow began to dissipate beneath her.
From within the black of the hollow’s dissipating corpse to Colina’s surprise were several smaller hollows all unfurling from within where the beast’s stomach had been. Colina whirled around to witness them rising from the viscera, most being stuck to bits of intestine that were dissipating from around their forms. She narrowed her eyes and turned from them, knowing that they were going to draw unwanted attention and decided to instead take flight from the scene. She took off at an amazing pace, leaving a trail of dust behind her and even avoiding the beam of light cast from a source atop one of the nearby buildings and destroying one of the hollow that had risen from the corpse of her fallen prey.
Colina leapt towards the source and found a man, clad in white and holding a shimmering green bow in his left hand with his right hand up by his chin, the right elbow held up high and behind him in the stance of a bowman. ‘Must be a Quincy I’ve heard about.’ Colina thought to herself as she landed behind the man on the other side of the rooftop. She had to quickly duck her head as another beam of green energy flew over her head, nearly missing a dangerous attack. She growled and turned back around again, taking off on all fours and trying to stay low. The arrows being fired were steady and methodically fired. He had no fear in him, Colina had thought to herself. She needed to press him yet remain elusive.
Colina zigged and zagged, changing her pace and direction as the Quincy continued to fire. She could feel his frustration growing as he hunted after her, also leaping from spot to spot in order to keep himself mobile. “The Vandenreich will have all you disgusting creatures purged!” Colina almost paused, narrowly avoiding another arrow as she did, and began to wonder what the hell he was talking about. It wasn’t truly important to her in the moment, but it was worth looking into in the future for sure. Colina was gaining ground on him, slowly making her threat to him even more known and intimidating her. She could feel it in the amount of arrows increasingly flung at her.
Finally, Colina got the moment she needed and saw as the Quincy lost grip of his bow string, the green arrow disappearing even before being fired as the Quincy tripped backwards over the tile of the roof. Colina launched in a straight line, leaping at the Quincy and landing onto his torso. She towered over any human normally and it was no different in this case, her arms wrapping over him and pinning his arms to his sides as he legs lifted them both up. The Quincy began to kick and squirm, trying to fight back helplessly against the assault. Colina paid it no mind, the weak and frail attempts at escape doing nothing to hinder her before the teeth of her mask buried deep into the flesh of the Quincy’s skull.
