Sprinting across the rooftops in a Finland city, Chika found herself doing what she could to rush to the location she'd needed to reach. Her goal? To investigate rather intensive reports that had been made a few minutes ago regarding a noteworthy threat terrorizing the area nearby. She'd need to do what she could in order to stop them!
Though, truthfully she had no idea who she was even going after. The reports weren't the most detailed, unfortunately; whoever was there hadn't left many folks to get away, from the looks of it. Either that, or the patrol group had just been that small. No matter! This was a job for Chika Hirabayashi, the Exalted Bearer of the Starcursed Brand! She had no other choice but to take matters into her own hands, and she was going to be damned if this threat was going to get away from her! She couldn't allow something like that to happen!
Doing what she could to arrive where the report had happened, Chika took a moment to look around. Her goal was to find out where this person was as quickly as possible! She wouldn't settle for anything less than taking this person down a couple pegs! After all, she was Lieutenant of the Fifth Squad! She was strong! Nothing was going to get in her way with dealing with this situation!
Or, so she thought. She had no idea that she was in for a very, very rude awakening.
Arcadus smiled from his hotel penthouse, practically pressed agains the glass as his eyes and senses tracked the shinigami who had appeared. He figured forcing those scouts to send a report for larger disturbances would have paid off. Glancing back at the corpses currently rotting in the back of the room, his smile widened as he considered his options, specifically on how to approach this. Screening the mind of his target, Chika seemed like a prime target for what he had in mind.
Grabbing one of the corpses from the closet, he adjusted their robe to properly display their squad, her squad. He could barely contain his giggling as he shrugged on his espada robes and tightened his body suit, and stepped towards the glass. Pressing his hand against it, cracks formed as he pushed against it, shattering as he pushed through and stepped out into the air, falling, falling, falling to the concrete with a crash. Concrete slabs buckled under his impact, cracking and shattering.
Arcadus held aloft the corpse of one of her teammates and yelled out to the shinigami, "HEY, CATCH." As she would turn to see the corpse hurled at her with full force. As Arcadus reformed his posture from such a full body throw, he placed his hand on his scabbard cannon, ready to draw his artificial zanpakuto. He wanted to, needed to see her reaction. What it was, how severe, how all of this would play out. He thirsted for her blood and lusted for her anguish, he needed to fight, maim, scream out and see this person, suffer.
Why was he doing this? To strike against the soul society, to seed their ranks with weakened, broken, those who suffer the horror of what their silly worthless and ignorant crusade will do. Their need to exterminate him and his kind made them and theirs his enemies, and them willing warriors who will take all of his rage and violence onto themselves for their foolishness and their weakness to attack a creature, a species, so much greater than themselves.

Chika found herself immediately taken aback from the sudden crash to the ground from someone that very evidently meant no good. Furrowing her brow, and doing what she could to quickly prepare for what was to come, Chika hadn't expected this man to shout and throw. Eyes widening, Chika tried to mentally prepare herself for the literal body being thrown in her direction, before taking it head-on. Shouting in pain as the force of another person rocketed against her, Chika did what she could to stop the backward movements, but to no avail.
Tumbling along the concrete while trying to hold her self as best she could, Chika found herself eventually coming to a halt, tossing the body of a deceased Shinigami off of her - one she recognized as Ayaka Takahashi, a member of the Thirteenth Squad. She found herself upset; notably so, but didn't have the time to mourn. There was a villain here that needed to be dealt with! She wasn't going to settle for anything less!
Standing up, and drawing her sword, Chika took a deep breath. "Despair, Hollow, for your time has been cut short!" Her words echoed through the emptying streets, as civilians scrambled to clear the place. She hadn't moved, though; despite what she could tell from her sensory abilities, and with the very notable disparity between their powers, she wasn't going to lay down her arms. She couldn't!
"Fight for a brighter future, Yabureta Yume!" As her words finished, and her drawn sword began to glitter like starlight, she outstretched her hands in order to accommodate for the change in shape and size. Instead of a katana, Chika had been holding a naginata. To most folks? She'd been wielding a Zanpakutō. Hell, even to the foe before her, that would be the case. Behind her, an "eye" seemed to open, hovering just behind her head.
"I, Chika Hirabayashi, Acting Captain of the Fifth Division and Exalted Bearer of the Starcursed Brand, have arrived to smite you back from the domain from which you come!" Taking a deep breath, Chika slashed out in front of her with her blade, seemingly into nothing. But, thanks to her abilities? Something very different would happen; the woman's slash manifested instead directly in front of Arcadus. It was as though she was directly in front of him to begin with!
{Overall Ability: Cyclic Fantasies} As with all Bakkōtō, Yabureta Yume naturally has its own set of unique abilities. Staying true to its namesake, Yabureta Yume is a Bakkōtō that specializes in the concept of "dreams". This doesn't wholly relate to dreams in regards to sleeping, but also dreams as in hopes, and plans for the future. In a sense, ability is partially attributed to time manipulation and reality warping, though on a rather small scale. Most everything Yabureta Yume does is not capable of affecting an area, and even those that do are still quite localized for the most part.
Upon releasing Yabureta Yume's Level Six or higher, an intangible "wheel" of sorts will appear behind Chika, keeping track of two separate resources; Essence of Dreams, and Fragments of Heaven. Up to six hundred Essence of Dreams can be stored at once, and up to twelve Fragments of Heaven can be stored at once. For every fifty Essence of Dreams that Chika builds, she'll be given one Fragment of Heaven. Should she spend that fifty Essence of Dreams, she will not lose her Fragments of Heaven unless she spends them; they're earned alongside one another, but don't decrease together.
Unlike most alternate resource systems, Cyclic Fantasies has a very visual tell, allowing opponents to figure out just what they're dealing with. The wheel that appears behind Chika is a perfect circle, and without any Essence of Dreams takes on a faded purple coloration. This wheel appears almost like little beads, with larger gaps in each segment of the circle where one would expect the numbers on a clock; this is where Chika's Fragments of Heaven rest as she gains them. When earned, these otherwise empty spots will fill with larger, purple orbs, similar to the beadlike orbs that make up Cyclic Fantasies but more describable as actual "orbs". These larger orbs will stay glowing until spent, at which they'll fade completely, as opposed to simply darkening when Essence of Dreams are spent. Both resources will fill in a clockwise pattern as Chika builds them.
While they don't come with any unique effects on their own, both Essence of Dreams and Fragments of Heaven affect the remainder of Chika's release abilities. At any point, Chika is capable of spending Reiatsu or Life Force in order to generate Essence of Dreams. Every one point of Reiatsu will net one Essence of Dreams, whereas every one Life Force will net three.
{Level 5: Skyline Iris} Level Five grants Yabureta Yume another unique ability, aptly named "Skyline Iris". Drawing from the previous stage, the amount of Essence of Dreams earned from landing a strike is increased by 10, totaling to 20 Essence of Dreams per hit. On top of that, Yabureta Yume is granted another ability in order to further allow her to turn the tide of combat in her favor, sharing a namesake with this stage of Yabureta Yume.
while Level Five is active, Chika can open the Skyline Iris. By expending a minimum of 100 Essence of Dreams, and throwing her blade in front of her in a horizontal slash, Chika can will that slash to open up like that of an eye for a short moment, appearing like that of an eye before quickly fading away. When said slash is finished, a small "eye" will appear on Chika's Cyclic Fantasies in the "12" position, spawning an additional eye behind up to a number of allies per 100 Essence of Dreams spent, representing this ability's active period. Skyline Irises remain open for the remaining duration of Chika's Level Five duration, before requiring a refresh. A Skyline Iris has a durability equal to Chika's Spiritual Pressure. If broken, Chika must refresh this ability by paying the requisite cost in order to keep it active.
Harnessing Chika's own dreams and desires to end the fight, and those of her allies around her, she can allow this eye to peer into the futures in which her and her friends are victorious. By expending a minimum of one Fragment of Heaven and swinging her blade while the Skyline Iris is open, she can force a slash for each Fragment of Heaven spent to occur from a distance away from her, as long as she has vision on the target she's looking to slash toward. Said target does not need to be a living opponent, it could be an inanimate object as well like a building or a wall. From there, the slash she makes will displace itself and strike against her target at her current Speed, as though she was within melee-distance from her opponent.
The size of a slash is based off of Chika's own perception; while attacking someone or something from melee distance won't cause anything to vary that much, the farther back she is, the wider said slash will end up against something, potentially enabling the girl to destroy a terrain if far enough away. For those like Chika's allies that do not have Fragments of Heaven to spend, creating this slash requires 50 Reiatsu. These slashes will apply appropriate on-hit effects for those attacking, and use the speed of the attacker if Chika is not utilizing this slash.
Watching the corpse collide with its living teammate, Arcadus dusted some concrete off of his robe, brushing his shoulder off of his silken white robe. Widening hsi stance in preperation for some kind of counter attack, Arcadus with greated with no less than an unexpected, but incredibly welcome treat. Listening Chika, both to her words, and the second to second flits of emotions in her soul. He hadn't gotten the despair he wanted, but her words were music to his ears.
Villian? Justice? A better world? What kind of hero did they think they are? It was all he could do to not burst out in laughter at her title. Acting captain? Where they that short handed in the Soul Society that they needed acting captians? All these questions gave way as she made her attack, which Arcadus, lost in his little daze, barely registered happening, and feeling it happen, noticed that very little had actually been done. Neat trick to slash at a distance instantly, but ineffective.
But still, what a character! He couldn't help himself, he needed to indulge. As his robe was cut down the front, Arcadus threw his hands apart in response, as if there was delay in the wound reaching his mind, and clutching it with one hand. "Guah, gah, You've got a real technique there Captain, but it won't avail you!" Arcadus drew a crimson red blade from his scabbard, flicking the cavalry sabre to his side as he ran towards her, arms at his side.
As he sprinted at speed, he sung the crimson sabre out to the side in a wide arc, a shockwave following it and arcing out, shattering windows, and to a very unlucky bystander, turning them into mince meat. As she either dodge or counter attacked, Arcadus would charge a cero and hold it in his hand as he looked around for his enemy. Smirking, he pointed the cero at a building, but didn't fire, holding it in his hand. "Unless you want an entire building of people to be turned to dust, you'll come fight me, blade to blade, kido to cero. No running, and no tricks. Call all the backup you want, you'll all meet the same fate."
As the Shinigami would react wasn't really a concern to him, but he had plans for her, and given the nature of her weapon, she was a particularly good candidate, having already bonded with one, so removing it would leave her open to bond to a new one. Given it was a separate item, and didn't seem actually attached to her. So at least that should be easy to deal with, taking it and then either crushing it or stowing it away from her. That itself would be an interesting experiment.

Watching as her attack struck against the Espada, Chika found herself rather hopeful, rather quickly! It seemed that she'd be strong enough to damage her foe with ease! Pulling back her naginata, she'd go in for another strike, after he finished speaking. "I understand technique won't be quite enough, but I won't give up to the likes of you, Arrancar! Prepare to be purified!" Thrusting her spear inward, she employed the same strategy against Arcadus, looking to strike from a distance as best she could.
Due to her speed over him, she'd have the advantage in being able to strike first. Though, due to her decisive course of action, she'd hoped to stop him in his tracks with her strike. Oh, how wrong she was. As he continued to truck on forward, Chika immediately took up a defensive stance, a shocked and concerned expression painted across her face.
One thing she hadn't accounted for however, was the blasting shockwave coming in her direction. Taking her off of her feet once more, and putting her back on the ground, Chika forced herself to stand after having been blown back quite a bit. Almost immediately, she'd been covered in blood. Such a strike had dealt quite a bit of damage to the girl.
Forcing herself to a standing position through leverage with her naginata, Chika watched on in anger and frustration from Arcadus' actions. "Damned Arrancar!" She shouted, "Y-you'll pay for this!" Doing what she could to run at her top speed toward the Espada, She pulled back her blade, and went for an overhead strike against the man. She wasn't sure how effective it was to be, if his last strike had made any difference. She wasn't going to let this Arrancar get the better of her! She couldn't!
Arcadus smiled as he felt the second slice cut into him, barely scratching his hierro as he turned and spoke, and now this shinigami was charging him, spear first towards him. They were fast, but the distance they had created worked against them, giving him enough time to move his sword to intercept, the weapons biting together, and for a second, thier aura's clashed, light and dark reacting, creating a waft of ozone between them as he held back her blade, and her, in the air.
"You're fast, and you've got heart reaper! But it will be your downfall, and unless you want the blood of innocents to paint your past, I'd move quickly!." Arcadus raised his off hand, red light of his cero washing over the scene as he released it towards a skyscraper, crimson beam speeding towards screaming cowering mortals, so helpless in the face of his might. Who would save them? Arcadus held his stance, forcing his opponent to decide the disengagement.
Gods what a fun jaunt this was! he truly did want to see what curiousities the shinigami were hiding in their closets, because between so many Vizards cropping up, hollow crusaders, and their recruits, he was trully wondering how desperate they were for numbers if this was their best and brightest. What a folly, sending a practical child without even a proper release to fight him. Speed seemed a consistent theme in the shinigami he had fought, and that seemed to be all this one had.
He watched his cero travel, and in that split second he heard a voice that pulled him deep into his mind. "You've grown so much into a seasoned hollow without me even doing anything, a wonder you even resisted me in the first place if this is your nature. It seems you just slip into it once you feel into control, and those human ideas crop up when you can't dominate the situation. What a snivelling excuse for weakness." Arcadus could hear it again, that hollow in his mind.
Deep into his mind space, Arcadus stood infront of the pale stretched out limbs of the horror, its saw blade jaws gnashing as he looked at it. "I'm doing this because I like it and its for research, just because I do things that you like doesn't mean I'm doing them because you want me to. You are base, you are without ambition and drive. I do this in an attempt to entertain myself yes, but also to procure potential subjects for my tests and to expermiment on. I am ME AND YOU AREN'T WELCOME!"
Arcadus waved his hand, and the laughter of the hollow alter echoed as it scampered into the folds of his brainstem and he returned to reality, looking around to see the changes and differences to make sure he hadn't been gone long. He needed to get a handle on that thing. A slip light that in a real fight and he might have been in trouble. Like with Tsuyoshi, something like this could have seen him take hits from someone he really couldn't afford to.

As the two clashed, Chika gritted her teeth. This man was unreasonably strong. It hadn't taken a Captain to realize that the difference between the two of them was quite literally night and day. It was hard to say just what was to come of her, given the words that Arcadus had spoken, but she didn't have much of an option. "D-DAMN YOU!" She shouted, a rather odd display for the girl as she dropped her naginata and immediately made use of a stepping technique.
Blitzing herself as fast as possible in front of Arcadus' hand, Chika closed her eyes and threw her hands up in front of her face as the blast contacted the girl from a point-blank range. If it wasn't for her own slight spiritual presence, she would've been ashed from such an attack with ease. Instead, the blast had sent her rocketing backward, colliding with the side of a nearby building and practically gasping for air. She'd been battered, bruised, and damaged beyond comprehension at this point, at least compared to her previous fights.
She did what she could to move her limbs, but it seemed that nothing was working. She wanted to continue; she wanted to keep fighting, to prove that she could actually be worth something against this opponent. To show that she mattered, and that her skills were to be taken seriously. But, she couldn't. Moving her body at this point was an impossibility. Everything hurt, and everything left her in a state of agony.
Though, as her vision blurred, she heard something rather clearly. The sound of laughter, from a familiar voice. It seemed that the Arrancar had been taking amusement from her current situation. A pained smile formed across her face, as tears began to well up in the girl's eyes. Was that really all she was to him? Some comedic relief, there to be cast away with once he had gotten his fill? Her heart ached. "ᴵ'ᵐ ᵐᵒʳᵉ ᵗʰᵃⁿ ᵗʰᵃᵗ..." She squeaked out in response. She never fully lost consciousness from such an attack, but was not in much place to respond.
Arcadus returned to reality, and the laughter he felt bubbling in him as he saw the shinigami lying on the ground, evidently having actually jumped in front to the cero to save the mortals in the building and having crumpled over in pain and injury. He had to laugh at such a sight. A pitiful, heroic shinigami who was going to suffer for the ants around her. What a farce, what a great comedic joke! A reaper who does not welcome the death of humans, how oxymoronic.
Chika would hear the steps of the Arrancar approaching her, slowly strutting his way towards her, as if he was strolling through a park on the way to his favorite bench. His laughter murmured out of him, rising in volume till he couldn't contain it, throwing back his head in raucous cackling, his golden mane twitching and swaying with him as he nearly doubled over in laughter, gait becoming erratic as he tried to regain his composure to speak to his victim.
Wheezing as he tried to press a smile into a smirk, Arcadus stood over his foe. Her body was broken in server places, and his cero had seriously injured her besides that. Her weapon was still in her hands, but he wasn't overly concerned. "Try all you want, you were never going to beat me Chika. I am one of the Espada, and your pathetic hero act is glass under my foot. You're sure to break at some point, its just a matter of how hard to I have to press you."
Grabbing them by the leg, they could feel Arcadus's grip parting their joints from sheer pressure. His grip seemed relaxed, but the for the shinigami, it was like a vice tightening around her ankle. Standing up and turning, Arcadus began walking towards the street, Chika feeling the pavement as she was taken there. A civilian, a young man with a bleeding arm, bike helmet and glasses stood between Arcadus and the street. Arcadus stood a foot taller over him, and his rapturous smile shifted to incredulity.
As far as he could tell, this was a normal mortal human. A meat bag, maybe above average strength, and certianly injured. As if this routine couldn't get any better! What a delightful dish after his performance. Arcadus's smile widened again as the mortal spouted some nonsense about how they couldn't let him go, and swung their fist at him, slamming into the wall of iron the Arrancar surely was to them. as they held their hand, Arcadus took hold of their shoulder.
Pulling away, the mortal's shoulder came apart, skin tearing like paper and muscle straining before snapping like rubber, the last connnecting tissue and joints straining before the shoulder left its ball joint with a horrid wet pop. Arcadus watched shock take over the man as they fell to the ground, screaming, crying, as he decided he like the quiet of a wrecked city block better, and put them out of their misery, stomping through their back.
Opening a Gargaunta infront of him, a dark, dank place was infront of hostage and hostage taker. "You aren't going to die shinigami, not just yet. But I promise you wish you will have. Perhaps you'll learn to regret your strength, or deciding to pretend at being a hero." Arcadus flicked his wrist forward, tossing chicka through the portal. Stepping through himself, he looked over to the open cell door. Moving through and closing it behind him, a lock turned.
Another Arrancar appeared out of the darkness, a white bearded man who Arcadus addressed. "Atlas, please see to it that this one is taken care of, she will need her strength for the procedures ahead. Also, let the cooks know we will have a more normal palette staying with us." The Espada turned back to Chika before bowing. "Welcome to Los Noches, hospitality provided by yours truly, the Secunda Espada. I hope you will enjoy your stay."
