Alright so let’s go ahead and address the subject that always gets brought up; Bankai’s. I’m going to skip over all the fluff and get right to the point. The Bankai requirements have to change. We see this discussion practically every week and it’s obviously something that the community wants to talk about and see improved. So that’s the reason why I am making this thread, so that the community of the site can voice their opinions on the matter and we can hopefully have a constructive discussion. There isn’t much that can really be said on the matter that hasn’t already been addressed a hundred times before, but let’s go ahead and do a quick run down on the issue.
The thing blocking people from getting Bankai are the Adventure/Quest requirements. A unreliable, overly long, thread type that fails to complete nine times out of ten is what is standing in the way of Shinigami players from getting the full aspect of their release. Now there are dozens of reasons why Adventures/Quests fail. We all know it. We all know this. We’ve all been apart of one of these thread types that doesn’t complete for a plethora of reasons. We’ve all complained about this for years. It’s why we don’t see Adventure threads very often. The unreliability of these threads put people off.
This is why it’s not fair for Shinigami to be asked to complete two of these threads. This requirement is the single thing preventing people from getting Bankai’s. And because Shinigami aren’t getting Bankai it’s having a tangible, negative, effect on the race of the Soul Society organization as a whole. Nobody getting Bankai’s means we’re not getting any Captains. A position so necessary for the site that the old mods once had an event where they let a few people jump straight to Class 1 so they could become Captains. Every single one of us who has followed the series knows why Captains are important. Does it even need an explanation? People like having leaders. People like having an influential character in their character's story. People like having other powerful opponents to fight.
The situation in Soul Society is now so bad that one of our members is taking their two Shinigami out because they cannot progress any further on their paths and stories. Shinigami players cannot progress because of these requirements. People are forced to create Bankai’s when they apply for the site but are then told they can’t use them because of an artificially difficult task. What’s more, getting Bankai’s back will not just improve Soul Society it’ll have a trickle down effect to every organization and especially the villain organizations. The Espada, Xcution, and especially the Vandenreich will all get better with more Captains and Bankais on the site.
Those are my thoughts on it. It’s a healthy move for the site to ease up on the restrictions. Cut the Adventure/Quest requirement out completely. We need Bankais and we need Captains. I’m not asking for a revolutionary new system. If our Staff still wants a number of threads, that’s fine. If they still want people to prove their characters have grown so losers don’t get Bankai that’s fine. But the Adventure thing has to go. Especially before Bleach starts up again. Because we are going to see a boom of Shinigami and Quincy players when that time comes.
