Raph sat in his apartment, yet another day of work done and beginning to reconsider his choice in a roommate when suddenly the door burst open. In strode Mike, a big goofy grin plastered on his face and Raphael immediately knew what that meant: He was in for a long night. With a few minutes of hesitation, Raphael looked over at him and sighed. “What the hell do you have cooked up in that horrible head of yours? I know that you have some kind of weird idea, cuz you always enter with that smile when you do…” His roommate looked at him for a second, incredulously for a second.
“Me? Horrible ideas?! Perish the thought, my dear friend, Raphael! I just heard about this, awesome as hell, club on the outskirts of Karakura from a friend of mine!” Mike gave Raph a big smile, as if he’d finished the project that they’d been doing for work or, even better, had made some grand discovery regarding the collapse of Big Ben. Though Raphael knew that the second possibility was far less…probable, even Mike surprised his roommate now and then. “He said that it was a place that not a lotta people even know about!”
Despite Mike’s genuine enthusiasm, Raph was extremely skeptical. “If not a lot of people know about this place then I’d assume only a particular crowd goes to hang out there and, if that’s the case, I don’t think it’s a crowd that you and I want to be associating with.” Mike face dropped almost immediately, but suddenly his face contorted into a big grin. Raphael, who’d picked his book back up, raised an eyebrow at his friend’s sudden…revelation. “What is it now, Mike? Whatever scheme you’re cooking up, it won’t work.”
“Ok, fair enough,” his friend replied, nodding. “I just thought that since you were such a big conspiracy guy, heck maybe this place has some of those samurai ghosts that you’re always going on about!” Raph scoffed at such ridiculousness, but Mike persisted. For once he wouldn’t be dissuaded by Raphael’s attempts to blow off whatever silly thing he had in mind and, before Raphael even knew it, he and Mike were headed off to this club Mike’d found out about. Fair bit of a drive, too, which made Raphael all the more skeptical about the place.
Surprisingly enough, Raphael found that he was mostly wrong. His senses were going all ove r the place though and it made him wonder what kind of club this was, if it was some kind of place for those that were more…gifted than even he himself was. Of course, he wasn’t the most proficient when it came to the supernatural and usually he thought that most of it was something fabricated by the Shinigami or done by the Shinigami to keep the humans down, but he didn’t know nearly enough. He kept looking over at one woman who felt particularly different about her. She was rather athletic, whether built that way or from working out, he didn’t know, but was still a bit curvy. He tried pointing the woman out to Mike but, as usual, his friend was going around talking with everyone else.
It was about an hour or two into their escapade when Mike suddenly decided that they needed to leave, for one reason or another and they went back to the car. They began driving away with Mike, obnoxiously, complaining about how the people there all felt really stuck up to him, or that they generally wouldn’t give him the time of day. Raphael, shaking his head as he listened to his friend and shook his head. Mike didn’t know, that much was obvious, but Raph had a feeling that something was different about that place, something that Mike couldn’t really pick up on.
Suddenly Raph felt something, an almost disturbance like something wasn’t quite right and he sat straight up. Looking around, trying to make sense of what it was, he suddenly opened his eyes as a familiar feeling of dread crept around him. Without a second thought he suddenly grabbed the steering wheel and pulled it sharply to the right, veering them straight off course, and sending them into a nearby field, car spinning and slicing through grass as the tires tried to find purchase. Mike slammed on the breaks and began shrieking at Raph, asking what he was doing and was he trying to get them killed. But Raph kicked the passenger side door open, tugging Mike through the car and leaping a food away, as a large hand clawed through the roof of the vehicle, and the telltale sound of a hollow’s cry went up through the night.
