At least Shizuka was awake and perky. He was certain that her energy would spread to him, seeing how infectious her good moods always were. He laughed at her joke, trying to hide the slight reddening of his cheeks and his interest in that idea. They’d never done it on a plane before, let alone a packed plane. If they really wanted to they might be able to get some time together in the restroom. Wow, he was actually thinking about this. Smiling at her as she cuddled into his arm and played with her game, Luke wondered if she thought he had been talking to her. His comment had been directed at Avdol, but it was fine that she answered. ”Kazura doesn’t let me get out of Karakura very often.” Luke answered, his voice hiding a slight tinge of contempt. But he quickly pushed it aside to watch Shizuka. ”What’re you playing?” he asked, making himself comfortable for the long flight ahead of them.

The mansion was dark. No light save for a few lit candles breached the oppressive umbra that painted the walls and floors of the elaborate home. The windows had been covered with thick, dark, curtains to keep the oppressive light of the sun from breaching into the inner sanctum. Occasionally, the sound of buzzing and a shadow would speed through the darkness. But the main hall and lower floors were of no importance. What was important was the entities residing on the second floor. Fog that hung low to the ground and flowed up the stairs rather than down sank into the main hall. If one followed the fog it would lead them to a door, where the ethereal vapor flowed through the space between floor and door.
”There is an emotion called fear. It is a very natural emotional reaction found in all animals.”
The sentence came from what sounded like an elderly woman. That same woman said, short in stature with more gray hair than body mass, as she stood before the mattress of her master. She was short, as was already addressed, and she had the visage of one who had experienced multiple lifetimes. She looked like the very definition of ancient. Upon that mattress were three local women, all bare of any article of clothing, and lying together in rest. The elderly woman closed her eyes for a moment, letting silence drift between her and whom she spoke to before continuing.
”Why does fear occur? Hahahaha.”
She laughed, grinning sinisterly at the figure standing in the shadows before her. Even cloaked in umbra his alabaster, almost transparent, skin was clear to her. His golden blonde hair was like the very sun itself. ”There is the fear caused by animal instinct, and the fear born of logical thought. Namely, when you encounter something stronger than yourself and realize that you have no way of facing it-” the woman continued, as the unknown man turned and beckoned with his finger towards one of the woman in his bed. She pulled herself from his mattress and, almost as if she were intoxicated under a spell, approached him as if he were a god. Intimately grabbing his hand with hers, she affectionately nuzzled into his hand like a family pet wanting attention. ”-or when you encounter something unknown. Something as simple as “not knowing” can invoke fear.” the old woman continued to prattle, as the darkness clad mad placed his other hand upon the naked woman.
Brimming with stupid love and excitement, the woman eagler presented her neck to the aryan adonice before her. A grin painted itself on the man's features, revealing the fangs he kept hidden behind his hand crafted lips. Leaning forward the sound of a crunch was heard throughout the bed room alongside the pleasured moans of the woman. ”When faced with fear you have a number of choices,” gulp, slurp ”You might struggle, resist, flee, accept, or many other things.” the woman’s bloodless corpse hit the floor.
”But upon meeting Lord Leo, a new reaction arises…
JOY!”
”Hmmhmm, how do people act once they feel joy in fear?” the mysterious figure finally asked, now known to be the very Bount that Luke, Shizuka, and Muhammad Avdol were seeking to destroy. Lifting his thumb to his lips, he gently scraped off a line of blood left over from his latest meal. The elderly woman before him tightened her grip on her walking stick before replying, ”He is currently on the plane with Luke Clyburn and Muhammad Avdol. They will not reach their destination safely. Kakakakaahahahahaa.”
Two hours later…
Everything was quiet on the plane. The lights were off, people were asleep, and not a single thing could be wrong. Luke had finally succumbed to his tiredness, resting his head against Shizuka’s and using her as a pillow. His light and steady breathing made it very clear that he had fallen asleep watching her play her game, plus the cuddling didn’t help keep him awake. Behind them Avdol resting, his arms crossed across his chest. But he was merely meditating. Everyone else around them was asleep, except for Shizuka. Her Switch kept her awake and entertained, giving her something to do until people finally began to wake up. With nobody to bother her she would no doubt have sunk a good deal of progress into whatever game she was playing.
BuzzZZzzZZzz
Was something in her ear? No, the only thing near there was her boyfriends head. Shizuka, with her animal like hearing, would hear the sound of buzzing. Was a gnat or mosquito flying around her? But the sound she was hearing was...loud. Louder than any normal small insect should be making. What’s more, it wasn’t coming from around her. If she took notice of the sound then she’d notice it wasn’t coming from around her. It was coming from the cabin before theirs. ”Hmm?” Avdol muttered, opening his eyes and lifting his head confused. He heard it too. The only one that didn’t was Luke, who was still sleeping soundly away.
”Miss Sanamizu, do you hear that too?” the Egyptian Bount asked the Fullbringer, directed his gaze in the direction of the sound. Avdol looked nervous. A bead of sweat formed on his temple as he adjusted in his seat to look a little better, before undoing his seat belt. Before he could get up, though, both he and Shizuka would see the source of the sound. Something flew into their cabin. It was small. Smaller than they might have expected. But just large enough that they’d see it very clearly. It was a bug! But, to be more specific, it was a beetle! ”A rhinoceros beetle?” Avdol asked, but he was wrong. What flew into their cabin was a stag beetle! But it was larger than a normal stag beetle. About the size of a adult human male’s hand. Strange markings were painted across the back of its shell. Then suddenly, without any warning, the beetle darted downwards and out of sight. ”It hid in the shadow of the seat!” Avdol whispered loudly, unsure of what to do. Was it just an oversized bug? Or was it something else?
