Bringers - Interlude
The mansion was silent. Alone in the cavernous vestibule, Kyla Hu surveyed the darkened interior. Shadows stood seething softly in corners, their restrained bitterness the shifting murk shrouding the decrepit once-home. And out of those shadows came calling faintly mnemonic echoes, strains of prologue spiraling like ghostly ribbons through the air.
"They say you can never go back home ..."
Kyla didn't move. She gave no outward acknowledgement that she'd heard the voice. It came from a room to her left, whose door stood slightly open.
"Apt, isn't it?"
