Title: Tell More Lies World: Soul Society Participants: Wycliff, Ranth Plot Summary: When each was given an opportunity to go on an extremely important mission with the famed Captain Enma, Wycliff and Ranth must have thought themselves lucky. Not only did they succeed in thwarting a world-ending plan by a superpowerful criminal organization, but they destroyed the entire organization. Wycliff and Ranth are considered heroes alongside Enma, and all three are due promotions for succeeding in this mission. However, upon opening the Senkaimon that returns them to the Seireitei, they have found it under attack by an army of Asauchi. Enma is quick to ascertain what is going on with his butterflies, who tell him the army is led by Bokuga Sayuri, Okusa Shogen, and Saix Shinra. Just then, five powerful individuals descend from the sky and appear before these three heroes. Wycliff and Ranth might not recognize them, but Enma does from the war. "The Ogatago..." he says, then looks to Wycliff and Ranth. "Go to Squad 1!" he orders them. "Send an emergency request for immediate help to Xcution, the Vandenreich, Las Noches, Uzaki Enterprises, and Urahara Kisuke! Tell them the word 'Ogatago.' HURRY! GO! NOW!" The race toward Squad 1 begins. On Waitlist: Special exception made via Wycliff/Ranth request, Rin is officially a participant rather than waitlisted for this thread.
The sun was high in the sky when Ranth stepped out of the glowing white mouth of the Senkaimon. Despite the warmth of the sun's rays on what would have certainly qualified as a perfect day, he still couldn't quite shake off the residual chill that was born from the grisly task that they'd been assigned. Although the details were classified and not only Ranth, but also Enma and Wycliff as well were sworn to complete and utter secrecy, the memories of what had transpired during their dealings with the criminal organisation formerly known as the Faustians would remain forever.
The reason for this was something equally unspeakable, but as Ranth exchanged a brief look with the Captain, an unspoken understanding of irrevocable silence passed between them. For it was Wycliff who had made the ultimate sacrifice for the good of all humanity in the line of duty. The man had proven himself a true hero in their eyes, although the truth would never be known to anyone else. In fact, it wasn't even known if Wycliff himself was aware of just what kind of sacrifice he'd made. Ranth had certainly been too squeamish to broach the subject and even Enma hadn't so much as alluded to the subject and Ranth felt it was best to follow the Captain's lead. Some things were just better left unsaid.
Certainly, Ranth held nothing but the utmost respect for Wycliff after voluntarily putting himself through such a degrading, soul crushing, dehumanising experience. It wasn't the kind of sacrifice that just anyone could make, that was for damn sure. Thankfully, it seemed that Wycliff's psyche had already repressed all memory of what had happened. It was for the best, really. He would be heralded as a hero and it was no less than what he deserved in return for the blood, sweat and anything else that he'd been forced to shed over the course of the mission.
Unfortunately, their immediate return to the Soul society featured a distinct lack of confetti, medals and promotions. What they found instead was their home in flames. For beneath the clear blue sky that had first greeted them was roiling black smoke and the sounds of battle. "What on earth...", Ranth was the first to speak and his voice was tinged with not only confusion and alarm, but also exhaustion. Whilst it was true that they had taken time to rest before returning to the Soul Society and their physical condition could be considered more or less fine, there was no time to relax and unwind whilst they offloaded their emotional and psychological burdens.
Before another word could be spoken, dozens of white humanoid figures began streaming into sight- apparently drawn by the activation of the Senkaimon. Although he was no expert on the subject, Ranth quick recognised them for what they were- which only added to his shock. These were Asauchi- the form that Zanpakuto spirits took after their forging but before they had been fully manifested by a Shinigami. It was said that all Zanpakuto spirits began as an Asauchi and only upon forming a powerful bond with their Shinigami did they take on their own unique form. Of course, Ranth had read one detailed argument from a renowned scholar that Asauchi could be thought of as the ultimate form of a Zanpakuto due to its capacity for infinite evolution, but that hardly seemed to matter right at that moment.
Before any of the Asauchi could come within fifty feet of them however, they halted suddenly, as though in response to an unspoken command or coming into contact with an invisible barrier. The reason for their cessation of movement soon became obvious however as five individuals, each wearing unique garbs the likes of which Ranth had neither seen nor read about before. These beings were completely unknown to him, but Enma's reaction to them alone was more than enough for Ranth to know what mattered. They were the enemy.
As it happened though, Ranth didn't need to have deduced this for himself, as Enma wasted no time with detailed explanations. Instead, in the sort of fashion that Ranth had become accustomed to over the course of their recently concluded mission, he simply barked orders at them and expected them to be carried out without delay. Even under normal circumstances, Ranth would have obeyed without question, so under the current circumstances in which his home and everyone he knew was under threat, he responded with appropriate urgency. "Yes sir!"
Knowing almost instructively that in order to reach the 1st Division barracks in the shortest possible time they would have to cut through the domain of the 5th and 3rd Division's barracks, Ranth turned 90 degrees to his left and launched himself with all the speed he could muster towards the destination Enma had set for them. He didn't understand the message explicitly, but the sheer gravity of a request for help being given out to those factions was almost enough to make his knees weak.
He dared not look back at the Captain as he departed. He couldn't claim to know the man well, but he couldn't help but feel like the manner in which this order had been given held a sense of finality that Ranth dared not think too much about. But in his heart of hearts, a part of him didn't expect to ever see the Captain again and that spurred him on even as an enormous explosion erupted somewhere behind him, threatening to pick him up and carry him away like a leaf on the wind as he raced across the rooftops of the Seireitei like a bat out of hell with Wycliff presumably hot on his heels as they quickly approached the squad 5 compound.
Normally Wycliff would have been more than happy to chat up both Ranth and Enma. Ranth simply because the two of them had had some history together with missions and fights here and there. While not part of the same squad Wycliff saw Ranth as close as any of his squad mates, which was why he wanted to chat up the young shingami mostly because it had been a while since the two of them had any interaction and after that event with the beast clansmen in the rukongai he was interested in hearing more about the young shingami's strength, he had surprised him when they fought with the strength that the man had gotten in such a short time.
Enma for a very simple reason. Enma was a captain, not just any captain, but one who had a strong history in the soul society and influence. Maybe just maybe Enma would know something about what had happened with Rose. Unfortunately Ludwig wasn't able to answer any of the questions that he had given how new of a captain he was, Enma on the other hand surly had some more answers, but during the mission he wasn't able to ask, nor did he want to at the moment given what happened in the mission and what he had to do to make sure it was a success.
The mission really had taken a lot out of him. There was a somber feeling through his entire body, he didn't know exactly how he was suppose to feel about them actually succeeding in defeating the Faustians . Sure they had stopped the doomsday cult that surely would have doomed the human world into a nightmare hellscape all for the name of a false god. Yea they stopped it and kept them from doing their occult summoning of a hell gate that wouldn't shut, but the price that he had to pay was so great that it weighed on him the entire time as they made their way back to soul society.
No he wouldn't forget what he had to do to make sure that they wouldn't be found out. When they had first arrived Wycliff made the mistake of being spotted and he had to pretend that he was a late recruit. As such he had to burn away all the worldly possessions he had, which included the pop rocks that he had brought with him. When he was forced to enter the cult the first thing he had to do was burn away everything so there he had to stand silently as he had to put on a happy face as he burned away his pop rocks. In the flames he could hear them popping and burning away.
That was all in the past however, right now the three of them were exiting the senkaimon returning as heroes. Wycliff knew that at this moment the pop rocks that he had burned away didn't matter. He had to hold he his head up high and stand proud with his fellow shingami knowing full well that they should have a hero's welcome upon their exit of the senkaimon. That and Wycliff knew very well that he had his stash back at squad 13 that he would be able to take from soon, so while he would never recover the lost ones to the flames, they weren't all lost.
Yet as he stepped out of the senkaimon looking around he sensed that something was wrong. Wycliff could feel it in the air, the calm and soothing feeling that most of gottei had was gone and something heavy was filling the air. Causing the gottei to feel as if a massive thunderstorm was going to hit and hit hard. This feeling of uneasiness wouldn't last long till the source of it would be discovered by the three of them. Wycliff couldn't believe it, there was another invasion of the gottei and so soon after they had just recovered from the last invasion of the Vandenreich. How could something like this happen?
Thousands and thousands of Asauchi were pouring in from all over all lead by three people, far in the distance. Wycliff could only make out the faint traces of who they were, however the countless Asauchi were easy to see. It was stunning to even imagine that the Asauchi could be used as weapons to invade soul society. There was something up and wrong with the whole situation, how could Asauchi turn against shingami, why would they do this? Who was doing this? Wycliff was already ready to go and fight the three however before he could do that five beings appeared before them and Enma uttered out a word Wycliff hoped that he would never have to hear again. Ogatago
Wycliff didn't know who the Ogatago were, however he had gotten some information after reading a few medical records that Rose had written or had to go over. There wasn't much about them listed only that the cause of the damage was due to them. Only knowing of what they could do Wycliff was shaken with fear. This was something that he knew he couldn't handle nor help against. Trying to fight them would be suicide, but running away didn't seem like a viable option. It was only Enma's command to run which allowed him to snap back to reality and take control of his body.
As soon as he was able to Wycliff ran, he ran right towards squad one. While Ranth had gotten a bit of a head start Wycliff would eventually catch up and see Ranth running ahead of him. While running however he didn't notice her, not for lack of trying however due to his mind racing with the fact that the Ogatago were here he wasn't thinking about anything else. So sadly he slammed right into a vice captain who everyone had assumed was dead. He fell to the floor as he hit her. “Ahh shit, fuck, ya ok ?” Wycliff said before he even stood up or looking at who he slammed into. Getting up he held out his hand towards the vice captain to help her up. As he did so he remembered his mission.” Shit the Ogatago, we gotta run, we gotta call for backup Rin.” By this time he would see who he had bumped into, while he wanted to say sorry properly he didn't have the luxury for it.
She had a bone to pick. A fine one. After mulling it over drunkenly and having a temper tantrum or ten, the Empress decided that it was enough. She was going to confront her former captain. The man who was the image of what she should aspire to be captain wise. Originally she wanted to reach his level of powers. She wanted to be a captain like him one day. Either that or serve him faithfully and loyally as a warrior would for their lord. Rin was determined to do that at least.
But then this business of an impossible mission and losing her zanpakuto spirit suddenly became a little too…infuriating. Rin wasn’t entirely sure if it was a set up or not. However, she knew that everything that transpired over the course of her journey was not meant to happen. Not to her. It felt highly unfair and unreasonable. Especially on her as a Vice Captain. It started out with her feeling as though she could take on the world and now? Not so much.
She came back to rumors and whispers of her death and being replaced. The last thing she wasn’t so upset about. Rin was rather happy for Kaen and if he wanted to keep the position, he could have. She was touched that he would step down in the name of her being Vice Captain of one of the best squads in Seiretei. It truly meant a lot to her. But now she found herself confronted with many new problems and an even newer Zanpakuto spirit. There was so much to do and so little of her to go around. Sigh.. An Empress’ work is never done, is it~?
It was understandable. Really, it was. She was important, beautiful, smart, strong and every other amazing adjective you could use to describe a magnificent creature such as herself. An Empress was all of those things after all~! It was only natural, ne~? All that was required of her now was to ascend. Acquire more power and help Squad 7 get back to its glory days. It was nearly the same as being the captain of her own squad. She had been the front runner and figure head of it for as long as she could remember. All while Enma was its shadow emperor. The true ruler and the one who worked exclusively behind the scenes. Now would be no different.
But now, she had a bone to pick with him. Reporting her as dead. Ugh! As if! As if she could ever die from anything that he had thrown at her. Never! Not her! She told herself this constantly. Reassuring herself. She was meant to be here. She was strong and she would show it! She was Rin! Hear her roar~! She was going to tear him a new one and Enma was already more than familiar with her seething rage. It took some time, but Rin summoned the courage to make her way over to Squad 5 where he resided. Today was relatively calm and peaceful for the most part.
He was supposed to be returning from a mission and she did not care if he was tired or hurt. She was going to let him have it. However, on her way she heard the distant sound of metal clanging. The sound of fighting. While it wasn’t unusual to hear, she knew that this was far more than usual. “Wherever you’re going Empress, watch your back. Somethin’ don’t feel right.” She sped up her pace and as she’d made her way there, she’d seen Asauchi. The place was littered with them. Rin couldn’t keep count, she just ran. She wanted to let him know before he walked into danger.
“Ranth?” Rin spun as she watched the snowy haired male speed past her with urgency. She whipped back around “Enma!” she called out to him panicked. However, mid spin, before she could get another word in she was knocked down by a taller blonde male. ”Ahh shit, fuck, ya ok?” She shook her head. How. Stupid. Rin took his hand, getting up. She couldn’t dwell too much on Wycliff’s blunder because of what he said next. ”Shit the Ogatago, we gotta run, we gotta call for backup Rin.” Her eyes widened and suddenly it felt like her veins turned to ice. "What...?" She was more than familiar with that name. It didn’t bode well for anyone. Rin looked back at Enma briefly as if she were telling him silently, “Don’t you dare die.”, before taking off alongside Wycliff.
Rin ran her fastest, trying to catch up to Ranth. Despite being faster, she’d match her own pace to his in case he were to run head first in to danger. She would be there to back him up at the very least. “They’re dangerous.” She said to him. It was a warning. Rin glanced back occasionally to see if Wycliff was still there. She was trying to figure out objectives they should complete. This was a horrible situation. All she could think about was keeping the two officers with her alive and getting there as fast as possible. Everything was at stake.
As she ran alongside Ranth, Rin’s own expression darkened at the memories. She remembered them to be exceptionally terrifying. Sayuri and Okusa especially. She remembered how Sayuri and his ability strategize. How he’d made so many fall before him with simple calculations. She’d remembered a former Vice Captain of Squad 2 falling before him, bleeding out in less than a few seconds. Okusa for the opposite. His strength surpassing many before him. Being able to flex and slash though anything like butter. The thoughts of the former captains made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. “Those captains. You will stay away from them. Neither of you will go near them or the Ogatago. We are to go straight to where we need to.” She said to the both of them, her sights set on Squad 1. “No matter what.”
Rin would get a very good look at her Captain before Wycliff slammed into her. In the moment she called out his name he turned his gaze to her and their eyes would meet. There was something different about him. His eyes had changed and his body appeared to be more bandaged than before and his gear was heavier and his armor more thorough. Something had changed him. Recognition came into his eyes when they locked with Rin's. She would see many emotions mixed in. There was sorrow at what had happened but joy at seeing her alive and well, to be reunited with him. Then there was the most powerful of his emotions: concern and fear. The clear fear even in Enma's eyes, the concern for someone he had thought was dead too. She would know that she shouldn't approach him. It was only half a second of their eyes locking before he turned away again, his Haori whipping in the wind.
A huge violet barrier of reiatsu roared to existence before Enma just in time to catch five different high powered attacks. It was not enough. The barrier lasted a few moments, but it was shattered after that, forcing Enma to use a Shunpo to dodge the incoming attacks, which instead destroyed some nearby buildings. Fire was already starting to spread in the area. Ranth would run past Rin at that exact moment. Just as Rin was making her own decision of what to do, Wycliff slammed into her. As their exchange progressed, Enma continued to move around at his top speed and erect barriers to block attacks while also shooting beams, blades, hands, and orbs of reiatsu at his enemies. There were five of them, and they were all dressed in white. They really were those very Ogatago from the Tridential Conflict, and now Enma had to fight all of them simultaneously. He was going to lose without backup. It was only a matter of time.
There was no time to keep watching. Rin and Wycliff were off toward Squad 1 as well, just behind Ranth. Both being faster than him, they would catch up quickly. The journey to squad 1 was quick. Asauchi did appear to attack them, but the Asauchi were relatively low level, meant for mass invasion rather than facing higher level opponents. There were already enough high level invaders to deal with Vice Captains and Captains. With Saix Shinra, Bokuga Sayuri, Okusa Shogen, and the Ogatago showing up, there was going to be trouble. The three journeying were well near Squad 1 when another man joined them. Dressed in a Shinigami's robe, the man was immediately recognizable. Nowadays a figure head and writer at Soul Food, the former Squad 10 Vice Captain named Hiro Kaname had arrived on the scene, and just in time too.
A huge blast of energy had been flying for Rin, Wycliff, and Ranth at the moment Hiro showed up. They could have defended themselves, but it would cost energy that they might need later. Hiro Kaname showed up then and a blast of his own Kido destroyed the incoming attack. He took off running after the three and joined them to make a group of four. He looked well, more muscular than before. His reiatsu was stronger as well. He seemed friendly, an ally in this terrifying situation. Under his robe it was clear that he was wearing a t-shirt that said "Hiro Kaname For Captain Commander." As soon as he arrived, the first words out of his mouth were, "What the HELL is going on?! Did I see the OGATAGO on the way here?!" He had also participated in the war, and it had been that war which led him to retire to Soul Food. He had seen things too, was haunted by them.
They arrived then in front of the Squad 1 barracks to find it on fire and already under attack by the highest proportion of Asauchi anywhere in the Seireitei. The emergency communication room was in the very back. To get to it, they'd have to enter through the front and maneuver all the way to the end. However there were many enemies, and fighting their way through might take a great deal of time. They did not have time. They needed to alert every other faction about the Ogatago right now. But there might be a creative way in.
Shortly after helping up Rin the both of them caught up to Ranth, the three of them would be running towards squad one. Slashing through the weak Asauchi with ease as they made their way to squad one. In that time Wycliff and Ranth would both let Rin on the whole situation as they knew it and what was going on and what their mission was. It was then that Wycliff saw him there, standing in uniform looking stronger than before and ready to fight. It was mother fucking Hiro Kaname wearing a trademarked Hiro Kaname For Captain Commander. T-shirt. Wycliff had never been so happy to see a fellow shingami like he had been at the moment he spotted Hiro.
After a quick kido was casted by Hiro to protect them and the question being asked of what the hell was going on. Before Wycliff could even ask a Asauchi tried to attack them however as it rasied up it's blade to slash down it was shattered by the force of a punch from behind it. Standing there now was Kaen, another third seat. With this collection of people Wycliff had a good feeling that the lot of them could easily fight through the massive army of Asauchi however time wasn't on their side, they needed to get the message out and each second they wasted was another chance that Enma could fall and so would the rest of the soul society.
Wycliff asked a single question to everyone there. “So ya all know the move get help right?” Wycliff would look around at the group to see their reaction. Slowly he could see the smiles of both Ranth and Kaen while Rin had a puzzled look across her face as the question was asked. Giving a quick glance over to Ranth then Kaen before his gaze focused on Rin nodding his head to see if the other two would agree with him, which they did it seemed that all three of them had the same idea in mind.
Wycliff hadn't include Hiro as he had another task for him to do, a very important one at that. From out of his jacket Wycliff pulled out a camcorder and what looked like a small but powerful boombox he pressed play on the boombox before he smiled at Hiro saying. “You know what to do.” Stepping back to the others he smiled as he drew out his snow white blade facing the army of the Asauchi “It's time to rock you like a hurricane." With that Wycliff released his Zan using the release phrase under his breath as not to interfere with the line he had just said.
Just as those words were said and his release was active a platform of cocaine would form at the feet of Ranth, Rin, Kaen and Wycliff. This platform would start to raise upwards, however as it did Wycliff created a massive hurricane of cocaine would appear around the four of them. The hurricane it's self served as a defensive wall while the platform of cocaine would act as a lift, lifting the four of them up into the air high above the army of Asauchi. The speed of the platform moving upwards was fast enough to avoid being attacked especially given the fact that the four of them were surrounded by a cocaine hurricane.
Once at the top of the hurricane which was Wycliff's max reach of control over the powder in shikai he smiled once more at the other three giving them a nod before casting out a kido silently. Gods of Balance, Gods of Change, I summon thee. Under my feet do I place your tennants and in my hands to I place your might. With thy power do I smite my enemies! Hado #53: Surasorutoiera. From around Wycliff a large powerful gust of air would push outwards forcing Ranth, Rin and Kaen upward and over towards the other side of squad one. He had done his part, now it was time for Ranth and Kaen to do theirs. Wycliff felt sorry for Rin who he assumed had no idea as to what was about to happen.

Ranth spotted Rin out of the corner of his eyes as she made herself known via her impassioned shouts towards Captain Enma. He had no idea what kind of relationship the Empress had with the gruff Captain, nor did he feel like he had any right to pry or the time to waste thinking about such idle things during the monumental crisis they- and all of Soul Society- were facing. Besides, moments later Wycliff collided with her so fiercely that they were both momentarily lost from view as Ranth streaked ahead, unwilling to pause for anything in lieu of completing the mission Enma had assigned them.
Behind them, explosions continued to erupt with alarming frequency but for all the smoke and fire that erupted high into the sky. But for all the horror that such carnage wrought, there was a silver lining to each one... for each explosion was an affirmation that Enma still lived and was holding firm against impossible odds. Suddenly though, the timely appearance of one Hiro Kaname saved them from a sudden surprise attack. Now Ranth had never met the man personally prior to this moment, but he'd heard plenty about the man and his accomplishments.
But Hiro Kaname wasn't the only welcome surprise to be reinforcing their group. In addition to Hiro Kaname, Ranth also recognised Kaien, Rin's third seat and former vice captain of squad 7. With this kind of roster, it would almost seem as though the odds were in their favour... but then they laid eyes upon the entrance to the division 1 barracks and Ranth's heart sunk as he witnessed countless Asauchi pouring from within to form ranks between the group and their goal, Wycliff's comment drew Ranth's eyes away from the awaiting army and towards the blonde. Get Help. These two words bounced around in his head like a pair of marbles until it clicked and his eyes widened before turning his gaze to Rin.
"Yes... it's the only way", Ranth said with a stoic nod of his head as he moved to stand closer to the group. He'd only learned about 'Get Help' two weeks earlier when Wycliff had dragged him along to the squad 13 movie night. The movie in question had of course been a Thor marathon and the 'Get Help' scene had left everyone in stiches, which made it all the easier for him to remember it now. Of course, Ranth knew Wycliff well enough by now to realise that his friend had no intention of re-enacting the scene in its original state. He was bound to add a... twist(er).
Sure enough, with Wycliff's help they were launched into the blue sky above. Upon reaching the peak of its altitude, Ranth and Kaen could only grip Rins arms- one on each side of her- as Wycliff unleashed a powerful force that carried all three of them forwards and upwards in a swift but graceful arc towards the back of the Division 1 Barracks. Far below them, the ground rushed by and Ranth wondered if the Asauchi were even aware of them all the way up here above the smoke and flame that rose up from the damaged portions of the buildings below.
Ultimately, there was no use in wondering and Ranth quickly realised that with their current trajectory they were going to fall short of their destination... unless Ranth had anything to say about it. "It's up to you now Empress", Ranth shouted in her ear over the roaring wind before releasing his grip on Rin's arm. By doing so, Ranth allowed himself to fall behind the pair in midair whilst mentally reciting the words for the same spell that Wycliff had used earlier. "Look after her", Ranth mouthed the words to Kaen as nothing he could have said out loud would have carried to the man's ears. Then he thrust out his hands and generated another wave of force that sent Ranth shooting upwards and backwards and Kaen and Rin shot forwards with renewed speed, their trajectory back on track... at least for now.
With his part done, one might have thought that Ranth's only choice was to plummet into the fiery hellscape below... but anyone watching (or, in this case, Hiro Kaname and his camcorder), would see Ranth land safely upon the platform of quasi solidified cocaine that Wycliff was navigating through the sky, albeit at a much slower pace than what Rin and Kaen had achieved. Upon landing, Ranth drew up the collar of his robes over his nose and mouth to ward off any stray cocaine particles and without a word, reached into his robes and drew out... a brightly coloured packet of cherry flavored pop-rocks, which he held out for his friend to claim.
Ranth knew how Wycliff could get when he used his shikai, so he held out the packet of treats to his friend as an unspoken peace offering. They'd long since come to an understanding that Ranth didn't adhere to Wycliff's particular brand of pleasure and the best way to keep his friend from forgetting that was with... well... bribes. "So... do you think they'll manage to stick the landing?", Ranth asked as they watched the distant pair soaring majestically through the sky.

This was a PTSD hell for Kaen. He'd only just started recovering from the last invasion of Soul Society, with Rin's help. The fire. The burning. The pain, and his comrades dying. Kaen was no stranger to fighting and being hurt, but for it to happen to his subordinates.... Well. That was why his response today had been as fast as he could manage, engaging the waves of Asauchi assailing Soul Society. He didn't know the politics. The reason. What was happening or why. What he saw was that Soul Society was being invaded again, and he was not going to watch the men and women under his command die like he did back then. Without any word, or chance for approval of his actions, Kaen had taken to the fray, meeting the enemy head on, at the earliest juncture, and this was where he made his stand.
So he'd been fighting, right on the front lines. Wearing his vest of chainmail beneath his Squad 7 uniform, Esteemed Hammer clipped to his belt, and reiatsu orbs ready, Kaen was going all in. Myriads of deadly, lethal strikes hammering any Asauchi that closed on his position. Kaen was not being especially aggressive, as he had been during Kuroi's mod soul invasion. He'd matured slightly. His tactical leanings sharpened. Kaen was fighting to contain the threat, not simply eliminate it. He had picked a choke point and held it, repelling any unfortunate adversary that tried to pass. Asauchi went flying through the air, or pieces of them did, courtesy of kicks, punches or other blows from the former Vice Captain. Third seat or no, Kaen's strength and skill was still their stunning peaks. Though he could only hold one choke point, nobody was getting past him. Nobody, that is, until Kaen overheard something. He was fighting near the front lines. Close enough to see Enma's stunning barrier, as five new forms entered the fray.
Kaen did not recognize the Ogatago, in the mess of combat. Nor was he quite close enough to hear Enma's declaration to his comrades. What he did see. Was the familiar flash of appropriately regal kimono. Even at this distance, Kaen could basically recognize his Vice Captain on sight, and as Rin took the group to flee inwards, he was momentarily indecisive. Should he stay and assist Enma? Or should he go and help Rin in her mission? Only momentarily though. Kaen drew back from the battle, fighting Asauchi all the while, driving his fist into one of the walls of the Seireitei and ripping out a chunk, which he hurled into their midst. Without that segment of the wall to support the rest, much of the wall toppled over, collapsing much of the chokepoint. It's not impassable, but it should slow them for a few seconds. And Kaen immediately retreated back to assist his Vice Captain. It took him awhile though. Asauchi were everywhere. Kaen fought and battered and bashed them aside. He had not yet drawn his zanpakuto, but he had considered it a few times. Though Kaen was skilled, strong, and fast, it was impossible to push through with such aggression and be completely unscathed. Minor scratches and bruises accumulated as he drove through the enemy ranks, laying down any who got within arms reach. And then finally he saw them. Rin, along with two-- no, three other shinigami, near the Squad 1 Barracks. An Asauchi lunged out at the group-- at Rin, from behind. Its arms were raised high, its blade about to fall. Kaen reacted instinctively. The Asauchi that had lunged out to attack his Vice Captain, suddenly found its half abruptly stopped, by the fist that had just punctured through its chest, and out the other side. "Know your opponent. You're a thousand years too early to attack her." Kaen hissed at the Asauchi, before hurling it aside. "Squad 7, Third Officer, Kaen Youji, reporting for duty, Fukutaichou." He stated, bowing to the Empress.
It seemed the group was trying to get through the first division barracks. Kaen looked past the gates to see the swarming enemy, his brow furrowed. "That's going to take awhile.... I could do it alone, if need be, but it'll be time consuming and it doesn't seem like we have long." Then, Wycliff proposed an idea. Get Help. Kaen paused, and looked at Ranth. Then Wycliff. Then Rin. And gulped. Hooo, they were going to regret this later. But that gulp gave way to a grin. He'd gone to a movie theater in the human world awhile back and seen a particular movie involving that strategy. He knew what Wycliff was referring to. "Yup. Nothing that could possibly go wrong." He agreed. "It's the best option to do this quickly."
Wycliff opened with a twister beneath them, after performing the vitally important task of handing Hiro a boombox and camcorder. The boombox for the appropriate sound track. The Camcorder to make sure this legendary moment would not be soon forgotten by any. Now.... Kaen wasn't entirely sure how they were going to do get help, but upon seeing both Rin's confusion over the strategy, and Ranth take hold of one of her arms, Kaen realized that Rin didn't know what was going on. Well. She would shortly. Kaen reached over and held the Empress's other arm. "Don't worry." He assured her. "This'll go great."
And then Wycliff sent them off with an Area Thrust Kido. Kaen didn't resist this, as he, Rin, and Ranth were blasted skywards, well above the Asauchi. Now it clicked into Kaen's mind exactly what was about to happen next. "Oh. Yeah. This'll go fantastic." He chirped, cheerfully, still holding onto Rin tightly. And then he saw Ranth let go of Rin as well, and although Kaen's energy sensory was poor, with the incantation, he definitely felt the buildup of power. My part next.... The second area thrust hit Kaen and Rin, launching them even further. Two full incantation area thrusts. Kaen and Rin were hurtling through the air at an absurd velocity! "It's your turn now Rin!" Kaen declared. "You know how to do that weird hammock kido right?! You might want it for the landing!" As the two hurtled through the air, Kaen did not entirely release Rin's arm, but he did allow himself to extend the distance, so that his arm was at full extension with hers. Adding as much leverage to the fulcrum motion as he could manage. And then Kaen spun in the air, spinning Rin around with him. A full three hundred and sixty degree spin, while flying with the full propulsion of an incantation-enhanced Area Thrust. "Time this just right! As a master of Jiujitsu the timing wasn't the problem though. As Kaen completed his high speed, midair rotation, he released Rin's arm, flinging the Empress with all his 600 strength toward the opposite side of the first division-- past the Asauchi below. Past any physical defenses. Airborne, high above any potential obstacles, and no doubt flying at a considerable clip, Kaen watched Rin's flight for a moment, before glancing back at everyone behind him.
"Gentlemen, that was a great idea. Now be sure to make the next moments the greatest moments of your life, because as soon as her majesty returns, she is going to murder all of us!"
[[ooc: I got permish from everyone. Rin = Rocket #GotG]]
Today was not her day.
Who would’ve thought a reunion with her former captain would be so…bittersweet?. That moment they locked eyes with one another, Rin saw it all. She saw the pain in his eyes as well as the joy. It was a messy mixture of both and Rin couldn’t say a thing. It was a brief, powerful, wordless exchange between the two. Too much had happened and there wasn’t enough time to say anything. The fear in his eyes was what really sent a shiver up her spine. In all the years she’d known him, she knew that then, he was truly scared. Emotion was something Se— Ah.. Enma rarely expressed. He knew as well as she did the severity of this situation. When he turned away, Rin felt her heart drop. He left and Rin knew what he went off to do. She wanted to scream “No” to him. She wanted to help him… But she knew better. All she could do was turn away and accept what was to come. Bitterly.
Off she went, her blade drawn and cutting down Asauchi beautifully as she moved alongside her comrades. With swift grace and staggering power, she made quick work of any stragglers in their path. She was already upset with the Ogatago ganging up on Enma back there. She needed to make things get better and to remedy this situation. Before she knew it, the group of three would quickly grow as they’d run into Kaen and Hiro. Wow. Hiro Kaname in the flesh. The man who had inspired her to learn Hado #90. The one and only kido spell she was good at. Despite her current feelings on their situation, she would quickly conceal her feelings, attempting to give him a warm welcome. “My~ It’s been some time, Hiro. Yes. It’s the Ogatago. The old captains as well it seems.” Rin was not having fun right now but an Empress never shows her true emotions. She knew, saw and experienced their power. All first hand. Nothing about this situation was good. They needed help ASAP.
She would sheathe her blade as she knew she had nothing to worry about for the time being. Her point being proven as she saw Kaen quickly dispose of whatever pathetic imbecile dared lay their eyes upon her Excellence. Rin nodded appreciatively of his gesture. “Thank you~ I don’t know what that thing was thinking.” She flipped her hair and rested her hand on her hilt once more. “At ease.” Well, here they were. Squad 1. There was Asauchi as far as the eye could see and she was ready to cut them down. She knew exactly what she was going to do and how she was going to do it. God. She could see it now. Her group cutting down these vermin and saving Seireitei. They were capable after all~ She had a plan formulated an— “So ya all know the move get help right?”
… What?
Rin didn’t notice it right away. Rather, she was in her head, thinking about their situation and even better, how they would all be heralded as heroes. Her more than the others of course~ A placid smile crept up on her face in the midst of her daydream and then she heard Wycliff. She looked to his face and her delighted expression would fade. Whats this? She looked around to see all her comrades staring at her, smiling. Rin liked attention. She is the first person to admit it and she will do it time and time again. This. This was strange and the Empress hadn’t a clue. She looked to either side of her, eyes wide and a slight pout on her face. This poor woman.
“It's time to rock you like a hurricane." "Yes... it's the only way" Yup. Nothing that could possibly go wrong."
Her only clue being their shared looks. Even then was the pretty Empress lost. At first she merely thought it was her comrades admiring her beauty. It was only natural after all. She was one of the most beautiful and the unrivaled super hottie Empress in all of Soul Society. However, curiosity bit at her. “Kaen…?” Her voice was unusually soft. She looked to the brunette for answers, wide-eyed and curious. She bat her eyelashes in hopes her subordinate would tell her. Truth be told, the lieutenant had an inkling something was about to happen. Something she didn’t like. In the next moment she turned to Ranth with a pleading look who merely mouthed the words “I’m sorry.” to her. "Ranth." She whipped her head back to her third seat once more. “..Kaen!?” She felt both Kane and Ranth take ahold of each of her arms and she’d start to struggle. “Wh— Hey!” Her face contorting into one of fear and anger. Rin was doing her best to maintain her composure. Her voice was on the verge of revealing the true persona that lay behind that beautiful facade.
Rin felt something beneath her feet and the platform would start to rise. “Stop! Stop this! Stop it this instant! What is going on!?” Her voice was rising and there was nothing she could do as she was being had Kaen on one arm and Ranth on the other…. And Wycliff. That troublesome blondie. He was the mastermind. They orchestrated this and now she was along for the ride. She looked over to see Hiro on the ground, safe as can be with a camcorder in his hand. “Unhand me! This instant!!!!” She yelled. She was in so much turmoil that even her spirit thought it was unusual and got involved. THIS. THIS WAS TYRANNY. This was an outrage! This was a mutiny!
“Traitors! Traitors all of you! I— I can’t…Get off me~!! Ne~!” Orange irises switched between Wycliff and the ground as the Empress was on the verge of whining. “Hiretsuna!!! Someone!!!” she even cried for her damn spirit whose attention she finally got. He already knew things here were messy but had no idea what his host was up to. All he could feel was that Rin was having the worst time and it wasn’t her dramatic usual. Rin immediately stopped struggling after a certain distance and instead, clung tighter to Ranth and Kaen, fearful that she was going to fall like some kind of dead bird. Was this what a panic attack felt like? Lazily, he’d express concern with some sort of stupid, questioning sound. The higher they were lurched into the air, the more she called out “Kaen!!!!” and “Ranth!?!?” as well as “Stop~!!!! This isn’t funny!!!” And when they launched into the air, she did the only thing she could do.
She screamed.
Rin screamed from the top of her lungs. She screamed Kaen’s name. She screamed Ranth’s name. Hell. She even screamed for Hiro Kaname. “Get. Help?! Get help!? I’m not getting help!! I’m not! I’m not!” Dark tresses violently whipped around as she was lurched into the air via what she originally thought was snow but less cold and wet. Rin took a hold of her zanpakuto and her spirit? Hiretsuna? Her eyes would take on a more red hue and the sell sword nearly got a heart attack as he watched his host being launched into the air. “RIN. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON??” Oh, how she wished she could give him an answer and a prayer in the same damn sentence. She wasn’t meant for this. She wasn’t meant for this. She wasn’t meant for this. “A BUNCH OF JACKASSES IN A CIRCLE” Rin was panicking and calm and collected was thrown to the wind a very, very long time ago. This Rin was livid. Livid was the woman that was launched into the sky like some sad little toy rocket.
"It's up to you now Empress" Her head whipped around to face the source of the voice. This white haired little powdered puff should’ve known better than to betray her trust. Amber eyes focused on him and he’d see there was a mixture of a lot of fucking fear and a lot of fucking anger. If looks could kill, he would be dead ten times over. She growled at him and if he heard her voice, he’d hear an edge of what was likely her spirit’s voice who was just as angry and scared as she was. “You’re one dead little lamb when I get down from here. I swear to GOD Ranth!!!” She yelled at him before he descended. Each time she was being pushed further and further into Squad 1, passing over the hectic entrance filled with Asauchi…. all while she could hear a certain brunette’s cheerful chirping. Hell hath no fury like a woman thrown…And no woman could compare to an angry Empress. He should know that.
"You"
Her gaze focused on Kaen with the most anger and intensity. Hiretsuna and Rin’s voice could be heard as clear as day. Neither one of them enjoyed being launched into Soul Space and he was having a ball. HE knew. He knew what was going on from the start! “I DIDN’T ASK TO BE TORN APART RIN” Rin felt her body being pushed even further and even faster and the screams of the two most angriest individuals in broken fucking Seireitei only got worse. “TRUST ME, I DIDN’T EITHER” She felt her arm being extended and Rin looked like she was on the cusp of tears. With the wind and Dumb & Dumber down there hopefully screwing up their landing and this one. This idiot. This stupid, dumb, silly, teasing, lazy, good for nothing, idiotic, reckless, stubborn.. UGH!!! .. “KAEN. YOU’RE A DEAD MAN. I SWEAR TO GOD. I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND I WILL KILL YOU” She screamed as he practically threw her with all his strength. She was going FASTER? Now? She hated this. She hated this. She hated this. Shit shit shit! When he said it was her turn, all Rin could think about was landing safely and skewering her loathesome comrades. Starting with Kaen.
“Hunt, Hiretsuna!”
Dark red reiatsu reiatsu flames engulfed her nodachi and was suddenly fashioned in to a modern looking scythe with a gun at the head. The Empress tried to tell herself that she had this. She got this. She could make the landing. This wasn’t unusual. If she didn’t buck up, she was fucking dead. And if she was fucking dead, she couldn’t kill Wycliff, Ranth or Kaen. Therefore, her survival was necessary. She could see the barracks and she was approaching it quickly. Rin angled her scythe and timed it. Just as she was getting to the very back of the barracks where the communication room was located, Rin fired her rifle. The powerful bullet flew somewhere but it didn’t matter where really. What mattered was the recoil changing her own trajectory. Rin used the recoil from her rifle to push her into the right landing spot. Exactly above the Emergency Communications room. “Bakudo #37! Tsuriboshi!”
While she knew she could fall safely into the star cushion that would form beneath her, Rin would land on her feet. Her intention was to use it as a soft spring board where she could safely drop into the room, make a break for it and literally get help. Angry as Rin was, she was not stupid. She was focused on what she needed to do and would deal with the others later. When she got in, Rin made a point to hold her scythe with the head up, ready to shoot if she needed back up. She’d send the message to Xcution, the Vandenreich, Las Noches, Uzaki Enterprises, and Urahara Kisuke and tell them that one word: “Ogatago!”
