“I feel like… I feel like I’m on top of the world.”
Unsatisfactory. A challenge was what she craved. Something worthy of your highness’ time. She wanted more. Rin knew that whatever she took on, was going to die. Whatever she was fighting should feel honored to fight her. They should feel honored to die by her hand. Hell, they should be honored that she was in front of them! She felt powerful and above all. Rin hummed in delight as her hand slid back down to the trigger. How could she not show it off? Refusing to indulge was almost a sin in her eyes. Unforgivable, really~!“Ha.. Where are you..?”
Crimson eyes were searching and she listened for that tell tale sound of the next incoming victim. That animalistic desire for battle overtook her. She was only concerned with the next one. She didn’t just want more. She needed it. Sylvia and Narth were all but a distant cry now. As if they were cast off to a far away land. As far as Rin was concerned, it felt like they weren’t even here. She was what mattered. Herself and the next target. Whether they spoke or not, she wouldn’t know. All she could hear was Hiretsuna’s pleas for the next fight. The sell sword never was satisfied was he? Then again, neither was she.“Me. Me. Me. I’m all that matters.”
She felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end as the next shadow arose. Her eyes followed the shadow as it came up to her level and when she did, she looked it in the eye. It looked almost… human. It was trying to communicate and Rin would raise an eyebrow? “Oh? How interesting..” her voice dragged on slightly. It was low and hints of Hiretsuna was in her voice thanks to the insane amount of dark aura she now possessed. It was like she was drunk on power but she loved every second of it. This one had a sliver of intelligence. Everything about its body language screamed that to shinigami. It was shocked, likely not expecting to be able to speak.
It rose its weapon and Rin held her scythe up defensively, blocking the first throw. It threw its weapon and then it did it again and again and again and again. The weapon clanged against Rin’s weapon each time and pushed her back a few inches at a time. Her eyes revealed shock at the power behind this shadow. Though it was temporary and her expression would quickly change into one of glee. When Rin felt her back against the wall, she used shunpo to move far off to the side and fired a bullet at the shadow. With the recoil, she spun to the side and stabilized herself and fired again and continued until the shadow changed its pattern, firing its blade at her and nicking her in arm.
Rin hissed but it wasn’t anything that would deter her. Rather it motivated her even more. In the same fashion as she had before, she dashed, pulled the trigger and used another shunpo to bring herself closer and turned her scythe around her, attempting to slice at the shadow but missing completely. The shadow moved to grab the blade to throw it at her but Rin would interrupt them. Using the bladed tip to make quick, repeated stab motions. Each one being deflected by the blade and quick movement. Through all of that, Rin managed to catch a brief opening and managed to stab the shadow and flung her into a clock tower at the face in the opposite end of the district.
She laughed somewhat though it was low and malicious sounding. This was far from “The End” for the Empress. Rin jumped from boxes to awnings to roof tops and ran as quick as she could to meet the shadow who was smashed into the face of the clock there and engage. "Shaa, shaa, kyaa, hyaa!" It would resume. That same pattern of attacking and throwing the weapon. It was a case of new dog, old tricks now. Rin dropped herself from the air ground slightly getting under the shadow and swung her scythe once more, managing the get the shadow in the hole in its stomach and fired her rifle. The recoil teared at the right side of shadow’s stomach and left an even bigger, gaping hole.
The shinigami watched it stagger back and she held her rifle up to its head, prepared to take it out execution style but her Hiretsuna stopped her. She never would have dreamt he’d even think about begging her to keep this going. She hesitated for a moment but that moment was all the shadow needed to get one up on her. It stabbed at her repeatedly and Rin moved as quick as she could. She’d dance backwards, a spin and a jump ever so often with every stabbing motion. Rin had gotten so carried away that a few stabs managed to catch her sides and her arms. The sound of fabric and flesh tearing ever so slightly would cause Rin to stop running.
When the shadow’s arm was fully extended, Rin moved even closer, her hands moved quickly as she turned her scythe, slicing repeatedly at the shadow who took one hit after another, after another. She hooked it with her scythe again and threw it in the middle of the district savagely. With one last shunpo, Rin followed it and brutally, carved into the shadow and split it down the middle entirely, finally killing it. She stared it down coldly, her chin raised high and the corners of her lips turned up ever so lightly in a smirk. It was a knowing smirk. She knew she would win. It was to be expected but it got her blood running. Literally! Nowthat was what she wanted. That was everything Rin could have asked for.
"Are you finished?"
