Joshua was sent on his first mission after returning to his duty. They finally allowed him to return to the force after his injuries. He was worried they would suspend him for working while on a medical leave but, surprisingly, he wasn't punished much at all. They just told him it was dangerous and that he shouldn't do it anymore. Nevertheless, he is on duty now and he gladly accepted this mission
Now, he was sent on a mission close to home. He was being sent to London to check up on a shinigami who hasn't responded in a week. This was supposedly a low risk mission so he didn't wear his regular uniform, preferring to wear his normal clothes with his Asauchi and badge. He wondered what the man he was looking for was like. He hoped that he would be nice and maybe just forgetful, forgetful enough to not report back to the Soul Society.
He found himself already in London, and like it usually was, it was raining. He grabbed an umbrella and opened it to keep dry. Even though it was raining and he was sent on a mission, he took some time to see the sights. He walked up to the Big Ben and admired it from the ground. "It always seemed more beautiful up close." He said with a bright smile. He looked up at the giant hands of the clock and noticed that it was 3 pm exactly.
He remembered the first time he went to see the Big Ben, back when he was alive. His mother had brought him here when he was seven years old. The world seemed much brighter then. He had a somber smile on his face. He wanted to return to that time, with his mother at his side. He missed her so much yet he couldn't find her in the Soul Society. He wondered if she even made it up there.
He then remembered his father. The man who abused him. He should still be alive in France, somewhere. He wondered how he was doing since the death of his family. He did not seek revenge but a change in his life. He wanted his father to become better than he was before. He hoped that his death gave him the push he needed to do that. Now, he was just standing still, out in the open, lost in his own mind and memories.
