Location: The street is very wide and there is plenty of room to manoeuvre. Asvit is night there are no cars driving past. However, there are houses and alleys on the edges.
Special Conditions: None.
Circumstances: Shin loves collecting small bounties as they give him money. As an unseated officer and on patrol on a dark street in Karakura Town. He encounters someone who actually does have a very tiny bounty on his head. However, a bounty IS still a bounty after all.

The dusty old bounty book sat on the table like a rock, clearly having not been touched for weeks, maybe even months, Until now that is. The newly appointed unseated officer of the Sixth Division was now ready to open it. He had sort of avoided it for a long time until now, there was always a huge book of bounties ready to be collected but no one really bothered to actually take glances and take it seriously. Yea, sure there were some chances to kill some annoying hollow that had killed one or two Shinigami recently or some full bringer that just didn't seem to be very friendly towards Shinigami it ran into but no one really actually paid attention.

Except for Shin that is.

Truth be told, the idea of being able to go out and kill some troublesome hollow for a bit of extra cash was very ... exciting. It reminded him a lot of the good old days, in the streets if Rukongai, hacking and slashing at some gangster who had pissed off some other gangster and getting a back of Ryo for his trouble. It was great, it was a big life lesson: Shin learned the value of money, selfishness and ruthlessness. That's what had carried him through life so far and it seemed that is what would carry him now. It was a small personal goal he set himself, to eventually collect all of the bounties in the bingo book.

But isn't that insane?

Shin was only an unseated officer, the very thought of managing to collect a sizeable bounty on someone such as Kuroi Naito was madness, even for an arrogant guy such as Shin the very idea of it was laughable. But that's where the whole idea of steady build up came into play. He would just need to do it based on his evolution. He would get stronger, he would start off with the small fry and eventually build up and up until he had successfully taken most of the sizeable bounties. He would be stinking rich, he would have so much money he wouldn't know what to do with it. It would be like paradise, it would be literally a dream world just from killing a few enemies to the Soul Society? That was a fun thought.

Stop daydreaming.

Shin snapped himself back into reality, he had a task to be doing before he had to go out on patrol. He ignored all of the squad members bustling around him, they weren't significant because he had a task to be doing. Shin blew away all the dust on the book, sending a small grey cloud flying in the air. So, Shin opened the rather large book starting from the very first page. He knew it was in order of significance so he knew he would have to start from the beginning. Unfortunately, most of the weaker things were hollows and most of them had been eliminated (as indicated by being crossed out with a red marker pen). In fact, Shin had to turn over about five pages before he finally came across a page with targets that didn't have a red marker pen across their features.

These were mostly hollows as well, a few spiritually aware humans were there as well. The idea of a measly human being a threat to the Soul Society was laughable at best but apparently they had earned their place no the Soul Society's wanted list. Granted, they were probably near to the thousands. Shin studied the hollows and humans, tacking them in the back of his brain in case he saw them while on recon. Although, Shin was rather shocked at how low the prices were. They were only equivalent to about $3.50 at best which was really low but a bounty was a bounty. Just imagine getting about ten of those, that's quite a decent amount of money going on top of my pay check. After all, these were pretty weak so collecting them shouldn't be too hard, the problem was finding them while on patrol.

After about flicking through ten more pages (with bounties gradually getting higher) Shin slammed the bounty book shut and turn his back on the book, striding out of the room. He would be late for patrol if he wasn't careful and they generally hated if someone was late for patrol. He could still remember the lecture on punctually he had received clear as day when he had first been given the assignment. 'Ten minutes could be the difference between you being there to save a soul from a hollow or that hollow getting a meal.' The lecture was all pretty dull and boring truth be told but the last thing Shin needed was an earful on how irresponsible it was to be late and essentially shirk his duties as a Shinigami.

And so the unseated Shinigami finally broke daylight and found himself facing the sun. He had dressed himself appropriately for going on patrol in case he found himself in a fight with a hollow or something. His Shinigami Shihakushō, however, his black sleeves were torn off and replaced with white ones. The front was also completely open, revealing his chest and keeping him feeling unrestrained and free to move around. A purple belt pinned his sheathed Asauchi to his left side, leaving it dangling and ready to be drawn and will with his right hand. His dark eyepatch covered his maimed right eye, luckily for Shin he had adapted to fighting with only one eye readily available. His signature brown boots covered his feet, giving his kicks slightly more bite and they were very comfortable for fighting in. His silvery hair was tied in a long pony tail and hung around his shoulder and his bangs framed his face like a curtain.

The Shinigami quickly strode across the path towards the squad thirteen barracks. Truth be told, he wanted to get to the barracks as quickly as possible so that he could get in the gate and get to the World of the Living. Shin had been there a few times and it looked so much better than the Soul Society. Big buildings, nice roads and motorways, things called 'cars' that got people to place quickly, lots of attractive women (that unfortunately could not see him) and it just had a much louder vibe. It was very different to the quiet, peaceful Soul Society where everyone got along with each other, went about their normal business and did whatever they wanted. It was certainly better than the slums of Rukongai he had grown up in; most people seemed to live a comfortable life there, especially in the area Shin would be patrolling, Karakura Town. Truth be told, that city had been dragged through hell and back and it seemed to be a hotspot for spiritual activity.

Shin made it to the barracks and as soon as the unseated officer spotted him he nodded respectfully, greeted him and led him to the gate that would take him to the Human World. He was given a Hell Butterfly to help him travel and he went through the usual instructions. "Keep going straight and don't look back. Keep focused on where you want to go, although we have pre-determined your location we wouldn't want anything funny going on. Keep safe." There were a few other rules that went in one ear and passed out the other but Shin kept staring and nodding blankly at the officer just so the talk would end. He just wanted to go, no more waiting around.

He was excited, he was excited to finally be going out and doing something. He wanted to fight, do his job, earn his paycheque. He was't particularly pre-occupied on helping the weak and protecting innocents. Nope. He really wanted to go out there and kill things (more specifically kill some hollows). The exhilaration Shin gained when he was fighting, dodging hits, slashing, maiming ... killing; it was pure ecstasy. He had a fighting instinct, as if his body was moving on it's own and the feeling was amazing; he could do it again and again and again. It was truly a feeling he enjoyed and when he stood over his beaten opponent ... that just completed his day, revelling in his victory. The thought brought a small grin to Shin's face as he stepped into the portal.

Needless to say, Shin was freaking excited when he stepped out of the portal and onto the ground with a huge smile on his face, revealing his white teeth. It was dark, most people would be at home with their families watching television or something. Of course there were a few drunk, dodgy, or weird people that waded down the road now and again but other than that everything was pretty normal and secluded. After all, most people were in their houses doing their own thing. Shin didn't particularly mind. The air wasn't too cold, it was just slightly chilly but it was nothing to be crying over. There was a very slight (barely noticeable) breeze that passed through Shin that made his jaw instinctively clench. This ain't right. He thought to himself.

A few hours later he was more relaxed, sitting on a random bench he had found and gazing at the sky. He would be on patrol for hours and hours on end, he could afford a bit of relaxing. If anything caught his attention (such a hollow attack) he could easily get up and flash step to the scene. He didn't see the point in walking around, trying to stay alert when in actuality he would be almost falling asleep. I can just sit here and wait, something may or may not come my way. Honestly, if nothing did come his way THEN he would get up and begin looking for trouble. Truth be told, he was still perfectly content with his current position for now.

Then his chain of thought was interrupted.

A sound picked up by his above average senses that caused electric to run through his brain and jolt his body into alertness mode. He instinctively stood up and glanced around behind him but there was no one there. Shin scowled and begin to walk from the bench, he could have sworn he had heard a sound, did he check in the wrong direction? Just as Shin was thinking that he had maybe imagined it he saw it... no he saw him. A person. Weird, this guy didn't look drunk or high he looked normal. Shin's eyes narrowed in on the person who had interrupted him, unaware if he could see him or not. "Huh?" He was far about ten meters away, Shin had to seriously focus in order to see just what he was looking at.

I know him! Shin instantly though to himself.

Memories of the book came flooding back to him from earlier. Flipping through the pages of the blamed bounties, ignoring what he thought wasn't worth it. The hollows, some monstrous, some stupid looking, some bug-looking; most of them with a red marker running through them. But then there was one humanoid person, someone that really stood out because he had been placed next to many things that looked like they wanted to devour Shin from the page; but this guy had looked normal. Shin didn't even look at why he was in there but only saw his price. Equivalent to 3.50 Ryo which actually seemed rather fair for a human.

Shin licked his lips hungrily, the thought of killing this guy, maybe dragging his body back to the Soul Society, or maybe Shin could take him alive and then they'd give him to Squad 6 where they could put him through their own methods. And the Bounty... If he was in the Bounty Book did that mean he was spiritually aware? Shin could only assume so, why would the Soul Society want to target someone who can't even see them? It seemed a bit silly to be perfectly honest. Shin whistled, it was very loud and it would surely get his attention; but whether or not he reacted directly and acknowledged the Shinigami or not Shin would still say the words crystal clear.

"You're wanted by the Seretei, get your hands up where I can see 'em now or I'll have to fight ya, I'll take you there, whether yer body goes with yer head is all up to you!" He called out to him, suppressing an excited grin and allowing the tension to build as he slowly began to take steps towards him. Slowly but surely Shin was making his way towards his target. He wasn't sure whether or not they wanted him alive or not; he couldn't quite remember but if he resisted Shin would make good on his thread. Hopefully he would be scared and Shin could take him back, it would end his patrol early but hey, a bounty is a bounty right?

Along with his footsteps Shin gripped his Asuchi with his right hand and slowly unsheathed it from it's sheath. The ear twitching, hair straightening, scraping sound would be heard from the friction as Shin slowly freed the blade from it's prison. It was a blank, normal katana with nothing special. It was definitely sharp, a hilt for a grip but it was very dull, no moonlight would reflect from it; it was simply just spiritual steel forged into a blank blade. Shin had yet to pour his soul into the blade and have it develop into a Zanpakuto but that didn't matter now; it would take his head off all the same. When the blade was finally free Shin extended his arm, pointing the tip if the sword towards the person, putting on a completely stoic facial expression. His movement finally came to a halt about six meters from the guy.

"So, easy way ... or hard way?"

[Vereor Ejj]

Is there anything more pathetic than knowing you're past your prime? Knowing that your best years are behind you and that you are obsolete in the new, modern future can certainly break a will and quell hope. But nothing truly compares to feeling your potential behind a thin, locked door. Feeling the familiar warmth and pulsations of its heart beating behind just a skin, just a thin membrane that you think you could just push through, but it never tears. It caused bumps and rashes and itching, and Vereor always felt that faint sensation of being constantly off-balance. That's why, after kicking his blankets and sheets around for four hours, he decided to shower and leave. As he toweled the excess moisture from his body, he contemplated if he was going out to look for trouble or if he just wanted trouble to find him.

Deciding that either one would do splendidly for him, he strode through his small apartment, white towel wrapped around his waist, as he went to look for his clothes. Finding them in his bedroom, he grabbed a fresh pair of undies from his dresser before robing himself in the customary 'Heir of the First Blade' outfit. A black hakama and gi top adorned with patches denoting the Ejj clan and red stitching at the trim, with matching black and red obi, as well as a comfortable pair of black geta. Wiggling his toes to assure himself they were free and fluid, he donned a straw hat to shield his eyes and slid the broadsword he had purchased from Urahara's shop into his obi, on the left side of his waist. Very carefully, he adjusted it so it would not cut through the material as he moved. When he was satisfied, he departed his nice, cozy home and entered the chilly, open night.

Anyone sensible was at home in bed, hoping to get some rest to continue on their grand life plan. Those that worked nights or simply didn't have the luxury of a home worth wanting, however, spent their nights at the sport bars and clubs. A few blocks away, Vereor prowled around the alleyways, looking for someone to save. Perhaps that was inaccurate. He was looking for someone to fight. Scratching just below his elbow, his head twitched to the left slightly. The withdrawals were getting worse. Suddenly, he heard a scream. Turning quickly to the source, he waited a few seconds longer. The scream came again, before morphing into a strange melody, incorporating elephant trumpets and horse neighing. The hallucinations are starting faster and faster. He thought, recalling that three months was a long time for a junkie to go without the stuff they need.

If only what Vereor needed was as simple as smack or hydros. Something that could be found on the street. No, instead Vereor's body was craving a steady dose of the power that was locked within him. Without it, his body wanted to rip itself apart to find it again. It was in their somewhere, at least, it thought so, and it would sacrifice whatever it had to in order to release it. Trembling, the shakes began to overwhelm the man as he walked down the shadowed road. Turning onto the main street, he continued walking until something caught his eye. A man dressed in the black robes of a shinigami was sitting on a bench roughly a block away. Immediately after being spotted, the shinigami stood and approached Vereor.

Wanted by the Seireitei? What could I have possibly done to be wanted by them? He thought back as hard as he could, but he couldn't actually imagine anything he had done be considered a crime against the Soul Society. Although.. there was that ONE thing. Shit. I didn't think they'd trace me to it. Eyes widening, he recalled a particular incident that very well could warrant some mischief or disorderly conduct charges, but to actually send a shinigami after him for it.. "I don't really understand what you mean by all that, but if you intend to fight me, I'll just have to accept." Drawing his own sword as the man approached with his own, Vereor adjusted his grip to let the blade swing down on its own a little easier. Face to face, the men stood apart.

Shooting the man a look of annoyance, Vereor couldn't help but feel agitated that he wasn't read any rights or even given the name of his captor-to-be. He was simply told he was under arrest. My my. That wouldn't do at all. At the very least, Vereor would be able to teach this man a proper lesson in manners and etiquette. "You know.." He began, pulling his sword up to his chest, the street lights glinting off the polished steel. "I don't really believe you." Swinging in a horizontal arc, Vereor decided to start things off with a bang, aiming not for the shinigami but his sword instead. Although Vereor wasn't intimate with the inner workings of a shinigami, he knew that the sword they carried was incredibly dear to them. Perhaps it was more honest than the hand that held it.

"I don't really believe you." The human said as he drew his steel. Shin's eyes narrowed, to think steel was drawn, a sword was actually bared at him! Excitement began to pump through Shin's veins, filling his entire body with adrenaline and kicking his brain into 'fight mode'. He was watching his every move, waiting for any attacks or counter-attacks. Shin was actually prepared for this, more than prepared he was excited. Shin would make Verorer wish he had just come with Shin peacefully because there was nothing worse than fighting a well-prepared yet excited enemy. Should Shin have felt scared? Maybe but the excitement overruled it.

Shin was already mentally analysing what he might do but that was difficult based on the little information Shin possessed and only being adequate in battle analysis. Hundreds of questions were already filling the Shinigami's head about what he might be. Shin couldn't remember much about him, but what he could recall was that he was some kind of human and he was spiritually aware.Is he a quincy or a full bringer? Or maybe he's just way too spiritually aware for his own good. Is he strong? Weak? Does he have powers? Is he powerful? Gosh, the questions were endless and Shin didn't have much time to answer them. He had a fight to win, he'd just go with what he usually did, unravel his skills as the battle went on.

"It don't matter if you bel- The words barely left the Shinigami's lips before he was cut off by the human going on the offensive. What was once a coherent, threatening sentence was suddenly reduced to deep exhale and a scowl. To think this guy had actually interrupted him. Although, Shin was never one for honour, he would've done the exact same thing; in fact, Shin was known in the academy for being quite a dirty fighter and not giving a fuck. This is where the human resembled Shin slightly but that flew right past Shin's head, All he was focused on was the bounty and that meant winning the fight.

And so, his opponent was already on the offensive and Shin could've help but let a small grin overtake him. He had so many reasons to be grinning. Firstly, he went straight on the offensive first; the young Shinigami loved that. Unlike all the other brave fools he had grown up with (who thought their dicks were much bigger than they really ought to have) and simple went in constantly. Pounding, hitting, spamming kido and spells in an effort to eventually overwhelm or tire out the opponent. It was actually ridiculous how boneheaded people could get. Shin had long since noticed that and now he went for a more methodical and calm approach; and that approach meant letting his opponent go at him. Shin didn't mind that to much.

Another reason why his opponent had made Shin grin was his... speed. He was going agonisingly slow. With his above average senses and having speed faster than an athlete he was easy to follow. Combined with his point in battle analysis and adequacy with swords Shin could positively decipher that his opponent was attempting to complete a slash. He was going so slow, he wasn't even an average humans' speed. On the other hand, Shin could sidestep faster than a English Rugby Player and move better than Mike Tyson in his prime. So, Shin moved.

It wasn't just a dodge, he moved diagonally to the left but backwards, as the slash was mostly aimed towards his sword Shin's right side was at risk. By moving backwards he achieved the fact that the tip of the sword would not reach, if he leaned forward more he might have gotten him where it not for one fact. Shin had moved to the left, essentially getting him the opposite side of the slash (as it was aimed towards his sword on his right hand). This effectively got him out of the reach of his opponents horizontal slash at the right moment and getting him in a position and perfect angle. So, no matter what the sword would bite into thin air, and to make it worse the human's arm would be slightly extended for the slash (that may or may not have been aiming for his body or sword).

So now, Shin was in a rather decent position. He wasn't particularly sure of his opponent's physical strength but with his adequacy in battle analysis he was slowly beginning to connect the dots in other areas. Shin was much faster than him but the human was pretty good at swordplay. But Shin being in good position wasn't the only thing that the human would have to worry about, no, it was Shin's next move. Shin took advantage of the fact that he had sidestepped diagonally backwards to the left and quickly jabbed towards his wrist. While Shin had the potential to move faster than Mike Tyson he didn't. He held back his speed to only move at an average human's (50). He wanted his opponent to notice and react to the jab towards his forearm (the non-sword arm close to him).

It was a feint.

Instead of letting the sword continue it's course towards the forearm, Shin stopped the stab mid way and the rest was all full speed. Instead, he bent his knees (in a sort of duck to pre-emptively avoid a counter attack to his upper body) and slashed in a much, much lower direct and the new attack went at full speed. Instead of a predictable stab towards his forearm the sword was in fact heading for a quick slash at his upper thigh. Now if this hit it wouldn't actually be all that bad. It would be a rather shallow gash on his thigh but it would hurt like hell (after all a blade splitting the flesh would hurt like a bitch). No arteries or veins would be severed, it would just leave a crimson grin on his thigh and hurt like hell.

This was logical in Shin's mind simple because of the way he did it. It was trickery and Shin liked that. Vereor would be tricked into thinking that Shin was going for the most logical and easy spot to hit, his forearm. It was rather slow, pretty easy to notice and react to if he was quick enough. However, the true difficulty came from knowing it was a feint and being able to notice and react in time to do something to avoid the quick slash to his leg. After all, Shin was pretty fucking fast. Trickery and speed, slow and grinding. That's how the Shinigami would win the game. What's the saying? Slow and steady win the race? HAHAHAHA! Vereor would have to learn quick that Shin wasn't a logical opponent and that the simple and logical didn't work with this particular Shinigami.

Whether or not the slash connected, as soon as Shin did this he extended his legs and kicked back, launching himself backwards and getting himself out of his opponents reach once again in fear of any kind of retaliation. As soon as he saw the speed advantage Shin would take advantage of it, he would move his body, keep moving in such a way that his opponent wouldn't be able to predict easily and press the speed advantage. The Shinigami didn't fight with no kind of honour, no, he would fight his way and dictate the pace. If he controlled the pace, if he controlled this dance he would win the day and he would rule the night.

As soon as the Shinigami was out of range he spoke. "So the hard way ... Bad decision." He lifted his blade, pointing it towards the humans in a stance. Any swordsman would know what this meant, no, any fighter in general. The mocking smile, narrowed eyes, overconfident look in his eyes, the blade pointed towards him. It was a challenge, Shin was challenging him to try again and come at him. Shin loved this, he loved the thrill of swordplay, he loved actually holding his sword, using it to draw blood but his prey would have to come to him; not the other way around.Come at me if you dare you beautiful bastard.

His enemy was fast, and while Vereor didn't have enough speed to keep up with him physically, he still possessed the ability to focus on his opponent with no change in clarity. While Shin was first class at out-maneuvering his opponents and toying with their sense of logic, he just may find this fight go differently than he first expected. For someone to possess enough speed to dodge his strike with such fluidity and ease, Vereor would be hard-pressed to believe his swinging speed was much lower. Instead, he ignored the man's hand and raised his blade high in the air before arcing it down with a smooth 'fwoosh' sound. Aiming for Shin's shoulder, Vereor hoped to finish this cleanly and quickly.

Feeling his body's external covering split open, Vereor ignored the small gash open up on his leg and instead put his effort into dealing a hit. His opponent jumped backwards after dealing the wound to Vereor's leg, but he was confident that he still managed a small strike, even if it simply evened things out for the two of them. His manner of speech was very cocky, and he reminded Vereor greatly of his uncle. The idea that he possessed a particular talent at an uncommon skill giving him an air of superiority was actually almost textbook, and Vereor grinned at the irony of the man's psyche. Still, he was an excellent opponent, and the heir of the Ejj clan definitely wanted this to be fun.

Taking a deep breath of the morning air, he wasted no time in repositioning his body to a more suitable stance. Facing Shin with one leg slightly behind the other and his shoulder's set to his waist, he raised his broadsword one more time. Maybe it was the light, or maybe it was blood, but the edge of his sword glinted against the sky. Grinning savagely, Vereor leaped at his opponent once more. With one hand holding his sword , aiming it for his opponent's neck in the same spot he did before, his left hand was busy preparing his counter-strategy to Shin's speed. Holding it open in a clawed formation, his greenblack reiatsu began to swim around it.

Charging it up, the energy continued flowing from his wrist pores down into his palm, swirling and concentrating into an acorn-sized sphere. Just as his blade was descending for the final moment before impact, the technique finished charging and was completed by an accretion disc of accompanying energy. Thrusting it down towards the shinigami's chest, Vereor grinned. His opponent seemed to be a fan of playing dirty, so Vereor would as well. While it went against his ideals on manners and proper conduct, he truly believed in tit-for-tat, an eye for an eye. "You sure are cocky, you know that? You could probably use a lesson in humility!"

The technique slid from his fingers and flew through the air, gaining an intense rotation as it become a deadly, blazing shuriken. His words would hopefully distract him from this procession, allowing it to get within a suitable range before going off. Blocking wasn't really an option, as any sufficient enough force against the technique that wouldn't overpower it would detonate it, sending shards of solid, glass-like hell toward his opponent. If he managed to avoid or block those, the original burning core would continue on its way and if enough preparation happened, would strike. It whirred through the air with a vicious hum, like a flung bee-hive. Maybe he wasn't particularly fast at the moment, but he could still be quite deadly. Anywhere up to ten razors followed by a small fire being pushed into anyone's stomach should prove SOMETHING.

Great success, his blade bit into the man's thigh viciously, tearing a gash into his thigh and Shin leapt back just as planned and even managed to say his little speech. Then he felt a warmness flowing slightly the top of his shoulder followed by a very dull, throbbing pain. What the fuck? Confusion gripped Shin's face as he lightly touched his shoulder to find... blood. No, it couldn't have been. When could Shin have even been hit? There's no way, Shin hadn't even felt his blade hit him the brief moment they were in close...

Then it hit him, when Shin went down and slashed his thigh. Although, he had seen a flash of crimson he had also seen a quick flash of silver come from his opponent in a second. Shin had disregarded that moment as just his sword missing him or him being clumsy. Actually, Shin had barely even thought about it at all; it had basically been nothing. But how could he have hit him? It should have been impossible, Shin had made sure to use trickery to get him thinking that Shin would go for a hit on his upper body, surely he must have assumed that was the case and would have tried to defend his upper body. For fuck sake, unless he'd seen right through his trick.

FUCK!

Shin couldn't help but feel the wave of frustration that began to envelop him. He had been cut, he had actually been fucking cut! By this slow fucker. But I am a God. I AM A GOD, HOW DARE THIS HUMAN CUT ME?! Of course, this mental blow up was only on the inside, on the outside he was just scowling and confused. How had this guy managed to cut him? Shin didn't care about not giving him the satisfaction of seeing that the slight scratch had annoyed him, Shin's one good eye was still wide, no longer narrowed but he still had his blade pointing towards Veroer, in a sort of defensive stance.

Fucking hell. He was actually losing it which he couldn't let happen. Shin took two deep breaths and calmed himself down. He would need an analytical mind and to keep strategic. Although, Shin wasn't super big on that he needed to approach this methodically. Firstly, Shin noticed the cut hadn't been deep enough to sever tendons or arteries; however, he was still acting like nothing had happened. They had gone tit for tat, Shin had scored a hit and Veroer had scored a hit. The two of them had managed to hit each other. This was an interesting human, this human was actually good; he could actually be dangerous. Shin couldn't allow that.

And then the human once again began to go back onto the offensive. Shin could actually see the claw shape begin to form on his hand. Although, Shin didn't actually think anything of it; that was until he could see dark green stuff forming and he could actually hear sound of the beam beginning to form. "You sure are cocky, you know that? You could probably use a lesson in humility!" He said to him as he began to charge. Shin grinned, no he was now smiling, a huge wide smile that showed teeth and everything. His eye was wide and his fists were clenched, his one eye stared at his opponent as he came closer and closer with the ball of reiatsu in his hand at that same agonisingly slow pace...

"Humility? Since when did a God need to learn humility? The question was simple, but it triggered Shin's movement.

Veroer's plan would have been flawless, Shin knew nothing about the technique, all Shin knew was that it was actually being held in his hand. Was this some sort of magnified punch? Would it be thrown? Would it just explode? Shin knew nothing about it and he couldn't afford to make any assumptions. Shin was actually shocked a human such as this could actually perform an attack like that; there was actually no way should have known how to dodge and defend against the technique properly. It was a pretty tough technique to decipher and anything done from here on out was just an assumption. However, due to the possiblity of it exploding Shin was nervous to attack him directly and since he essentially had two weapons in his hand Shin was slightly wary of simple sidestepping like last time.

But that's where the problem lay, Shin was't defending or counter attacking, he was creating space.

At the word 'humility' Shin was off. No, he wasn't just off, he was gone, No, restrictions or holding back. To Veroer, Shin would become a blur, literally he wasn't there anymore. Had he teleported? Had he disappeared? No, he done neither of those things; it could all be explained in one word, Shunpo. Shunpo was a technique that had been drilled into all academy students very early, Shin had worked tirelessly at it when he had been training. Constantly working, constantly training, constantly improving his hoho. Of course, being a Prodigy it only took less than three days of constantly training and improving to actually get the technique down but once he got it down he got it down. And now Shin was fucking fast. Ten times his full speed, over one thousand speed.

But the real question was, where had he gone? Had he gone up? Down? Left or right? Shin had used shunpo just before Veroer had decided to throw the glowing green acorn at him, Due to him being incredibly fast, the acorn had reached the spot he had been long after Shin was gone. But where had he gone specifically? Left, away from his sword (you didn't specify) and right past the green acorn before it could be properly thrown at his chest. Yep, Shin simply used Shunpo to the side, he wanted to make sure he had space, he didn't exactly trust getting su[er close to the human. But wasn't that illogical? Wasn't Shin only a close range fighter? No particularly notable kidou would actually help him beat this guy at range, so there was really only one thing Shin could do and that was to go close right?

Right now Shin wasn't making any sense, he was using his speed to dodge and make distance instead of closing any distances. Shin needed time and space and he wasn't particularly sure what this guy had in store. As a result, he wouldn't go charging in, he wasn't that dumb. But Shin had seen that technique and it was scary. As soon as he left his shunpo he spun around and saw it - the close call. He saw pieces of shrapnel go flying in all directions, luckily for him Shin had managed to get out of range so the shrapnel wouldn't reach him. Shin had essentially super stepped the technique altogether. Maybe it would be a blow to his confidence. Shin should not have been able to get out of that; but he did. Because he was a Shinigami, nothing more, nothing less.

Shin raised his bloodied sword once again, grinning in the same arrogant, smug way that was just classical on a prodigy that was too full of himself. Not in Shin's mind, it was Shin's smile that showed what he truly was. It was the smile of a God sent from the heavens. And he would strike down his human and take his just rewards. In time, all he had to do was be patient. He was still grinning, pointing the tip of his sword towards the chest of his opponent he winked cheekily. "I don't think you get it, that technique can't reach me. He told him casually.

[Vereor Ejj]

The Hollow Seed left Vereor's fingers in a delicate 'bump' of an arc before continuing to zoom in a near-asymptoptic line toward the ground. Detonating harmlessly several yards away, Vereor jumped backwards just to make sure he wasn't hit by anything. The smell of blood wafted from Vereor's leg and sword, creeping into his nostrils like a longtime friend who moved across country, come to surprise visit. Smiling in satisfaction, he swiveled to face his opponent, who was once more flapping his gums. Although Vereor had moved himself in the same direction as Shin, he didn't move quite as far, so there was still a distance between them. Listening to him talk, Vereor saw him point his sword toward his chest.

Making a note that the man was sloppy as well as arrogant, Vereor wasted no time in trading insults. He had said enough and now it was time for his sword to do the talking. He just had to come up with a plan. His opponent was a shinigami, and he had tangled with a few before. It was enough knowledge to know they could utilize a special branch of energy manipulation called Kido that was normally used for ranged purposes, to augment their base form's melee-nature. Preparing a Hollow Seed in his left hand once more, Vereor held it to use as a shield in case anything was shot at him. If it was, he would throw it and hope it was enough of a force to slow the technique to a point he could evade it.

But nothing came at him. Realizing that maybe he didn't have anything, Vereor disregarded the possibility of a trap and began rushing forward once more. He felt a pulsation from his necklace, a strong vibration that forced his heart to beat in turn, causing him to stop in his tracks roughly half way to to his destination. There it was. His summoning of the greenblack miasma, his reiatsu, had completely quelled his withdrawal symptoms. Furthermore, it was beginning to numb his tactical mind. If he continued to use his reiatsu, he would succumb to the berserker state for sure. He was already charging instead of holding, the opposite of his intention.

From his hand, the feeling of Hollow reiatsu emanated from the Seed. Like a chainsaw, the accretion disc around it roared angrily for blood. Refusing it, Vereor instead dropped into a crouch and pushed it hard into the ground. Holding it flawlessly, he used the enhanced application of the technique to remove the shrapnel aspect and instead increase the damage of the core. At the same time, he jumped. Hopefully, the increase in speed from the blast would surprise his opponent and allow his sword, now being swung down toward Shin's shoulder (the same shoulder he had aimed at twice before), to reach his speedy opponent before he evaded.

"It appears my sword got some of your blood on it. Here, allow me to return it!" He called, grinning like a hound. Focused entirely on Shin, the Fullbringer saw nothing else. Blackness seemed to well up from the background to consume his sight, leaving only the movements of his opponent to his disposal. As such, his perception of the man's movements became much clearer, despite the speed difference. He could run and run and run, but he would never be able to hide. "This is my purpose! You were given your blade to you by a man in a uniform. I was given mine to me by God!"

Same tech used as above, although instead of shrapnel being utilized, the core's damage is increased from 75 to 125 Reiatsu Strength, which is utilized instead as a propulsion system. Because this is not a sanctioned use of the tech, the actual 'bonus' this provides is at your discretion.

That move again? This guy just doesn't know when to quit. Shin noticed the pulsating green energy begin to form around his left arm once again. Perhaps his words where actually getting to him, Shin had challenged him and deliberately mocked the technique that Shin had easily evaded. This was now a sort of pride issue and that's what Shin intended to force it into. If he could get him agitated, maybe to keep spamming that technique in an attempt to hit him then Shin could keep analysing what was necessary and the mechanics of the technique. It would all be done soon then once Shin found this person's weakness and then destroy him.

Hence, why Shin was calm this was a further opportunity to see what this guy was capable of. His good eye was already studying him, theories, possibilities, predictions. They were all flowing through Shin's mind as he tried to assess what this guy could possibly to do him. Or at least attempt to. So far, Shin had gathered that he was slow, but he was also pretty resilient since he managed to almost ignore the gash Shin had left on his thigh and nick him on the shoulder himself. And that technique, it was pretty brutal due to the shrapnel it created. This meant blocking or simply sidestepping was not an option. If was actually a pretty good surprise technique.

Shin prepared for him to throw it, as a result, he was prepared to dodge. Already, he was thinking about where he could flash step to in order to avoid the technique's dubious effects. Still, Shin had his sword aimed at his opponent and while it seemed like an arbitrary gesture is really wasn't. It was a stance and a damn good one at that. However, something went awry, Veroer didn't throw the blast at him, he didn't even attempt to use it to attack him. Shin's good eye widened as he jumped forwards and blasted it to the floor, essentially turning him into a rocket.

And he was off. He rocketed towards Shin and he was faster than before, but that's because it was't his legs moving him; it was the force of the blast propelling him towards the Shinigami, in fact he wasn't even on his feet! As a result, he didn't move slower than the average human, probably slightly faster. However, while creative there was huge flaws in that. Firstly, since it was force that dictated how he went it meant that he would have very little control over how fast he went, and no control meant no balance (since he was off his feet). Veroer had no control over where he went now.

Still, it served the purpose of closing down surprising Shin with the speed and it would be tough to evade this but Shin wasn't all about evading and Veroer would find that out the hard way. Shin was a swordsman and was pretty skilled with his sword. His stance wasn't arbitrary and yet Veroer had just done the most questionable thing Shin had ever seen. Instead of attempting to dodge Shin did something much more simple and much more easily doable. He took two steps forwards. Shin had kept his blade pointed towards his opponent in the stance and Veroer had literally just used his blast to launch himself onto it! Since he went off his feet and used an external force (the explosion) to propel him forwards he had gone faster, however, him rocketing towards Shin meant that he didn't have much control, he couldn't stop himself or brace himself, he couldn't redirect, he was fully committed and as a result he would just keep going right into the Shinigami and onto his sword.

As a result, he wouldn't be able to actually complete his slash at Shin's shoulder, since Shin would have skewered him when he had hardly even begun it, after all, Shin could step quicker than Veroer could slash. Although he had propelled himself super fast he hadn't made his attack speed any faster. All Shin did was take a couple of steps forwards and the rest was history. Even if Shin HADN'T stepped forwards it would have been the same result, the steps were just for good measure and reassurance that Veroer wouldn't run out of momentum before he got impaled. Veroer had propelled himself right into Shin's sword and essentially skewered himself onto the Shinigami's katana, turning him into meat on a stick. He would literally have been run through and through with his steel. His midsection would be skewered and along with a lung, he would be greatly damaged and while Veroer was a pretty tough guy a human was a human. Not even a regular Shinigami could continue on after a blade pierced it's internal organs (especially a lung), it was impossible, especially since a lung which was responsible for breathing was pierced.

It was all but inevitable.

[Vereor Ejj]

The one thing that always surprised an enemy the most, even one who used trickery and deception as his bread and butter, was when one chose to injure themselves. It was absolutely absurd to believe that jumping toward an enemy with a sword would ever kill them. It was just so easy to lift your sword and rival the nearest Dango food chain. This was something Vereor anticipated. As a shinigami, Shin didn't seem to completely grasp just how reckless the human race really was. As such, Vereor used his tight abdominal muscles to turn his core into his swing. It didn't really move him out of the path of damage, but when the blade did slide into his flesh, it was just to the right of his lung.

Gasping in pain and choking blood onto the face of his enemy, Vereor hung, suspended on his enemy's blade for a moment before his weight caused it to tilt downwards, and he touched the ground. Screaming as the razor-sharp katana slid out of the wound slightly, he focused on the pain to keep himself standing. Blood dripped from the entry and exit wound, causing a warm sensation to tunnel down Vereor's back. Turning his scream of pain into a scream of rage, Vereor's sword arm, which had frozen from the agony (his pain resistance enough to keep it from dropping completely to his side), came back to life.

Forcing it down with all of his strength, Vereor grinned madly, spit and blood ejecting from his mouth as he started laughing in between gasps, his breathing still troubled by the blade. This time, however, instead of aiming toward his opponent's shoulder, he aimed for Shin's head. In this close proximity, dodging would be difficult, and since Vereor was on his sword, moving would be very difficult. Shin was very fast, but his stabbing strength didn't feel any different from an average human. There was the same resistance from his skin and bone, and he could instinctively tell that his strength was very close, if not slightly lower, than Ejj's own. Accepting Shin's sword meant basically one of two things for the man. Either he could attempt to rip the sword out and cut through the rest of Vereor's body, something that would cost him precious seconds, or he could dodge.

By letting go of his zanpakuto, Shin would be able to effortlessly dodge Vereor's strike. He had already proven his speed was superior. But in doing so, he would ultimately provide Vereor with one thing. He would leave Vereor his sword. The young man would have no difficulty in ripping it out and continuing the fight. He could use his fullbring to quench the bleeding for a time being, at least long enough to finish this fight. And since shinigami were notorious for loving their swords, he felt that wouldn't really be an option. So, to make sure that he would be able to properly take the shinigami down, Vereor thrust his hand toward his opponent's as fast as he could, forcing a Hollow Seed to grow as quickly as he could make it. Grabbing onto it near the base, as close to his opponent's hands as possible, Vereor released all control over the spiraling death ball.

Pain shot through his body as if Thor were conducting a symphony inside of him. Tears clouded his vision, but he didn't care. If he couldn't see his opponent, he would smell him. He would hear him. He would find every way he could to keep himself on top of the swordsman. Katana had a flaw in their long range, and that was an inefficiency in close quarters, and Vereor would make sure to exploit that to the best of his ability. Detonating the Hollow Seed, the hollow-breed sacrificed more holes in his chest (three, he counted as the super-heated glass-like shards shot into his chest, gifting Shin with another burst of blood from his mouth). But he got the least of the damage. If Vereor's calculations were correct, Shin would be dealing with sever second to third degree wounds near his hands, not to mention the possibility of at least one of the 7 remaining shards cutting an important tendon or artery in his sword arm.

"You know, I like you more and more every second." Vereor grinned, blood sliding down his lip.

His sword sunk into his midsection as planned and Veroer screamed in agony. So surely that had been a success right? Surely that meant that Shin had managed to deal a critical hit so as a result, he was winning. That was good right? But that's where the problem stemmed from. Veroer had screamed and that could only mean one thing, I... missed his lung?Had Shin managed to puncture his lung then the human wouldn't be screaming, his lung would be slowly but surely filling up with blood and then he'd drown in his own fluids.

But how had Shin missed the mark? It was a straight moving target, Shin's stance was actually solid, he had't intentionally moved his sword in such a way that meant that would've made him miss. The human had launched himself straight towards him in an attempt to cut him, he had been so reckless that even Shin had been surprised, it had been dead easy, so easy that Shin had even gambled for a strike to the lung. There was no way he could've missed and yet Veroer wasn't on the ground drowning in his own bodily fluids so that meant Shin had missed. But how?

Of course!

It had to have been the human. Maybe he wasn't such a raging, ruthless berserker after all. Maybe, just maybe there had been some kind of strategic thought in that brain of his when he launched himself towards Shin. And yet Shin couldn't see it, he couldn't think on what he had accomplished. He was almost frozen like a statue on his sword, his weight forced the shinigami to lower his sword and let him stand on his feet. Now they were facing each other with Shin's blade in his midsection. And yet why did the human still see fit to spit blood at Shin and stain his cheek? Shin scowled at this human's blood hitting his cheek and twisted his blade further.

And then he roared, a scream of fiery rage and then his sword arm came back to life. When his slash had ended it had been at it's peak, high in the sky. However, Shin knew that the sword being that high could still do damage, and so the slash resumed. However, luckily for Shin he was still slow as fuck, in addition to this, he was wounded and losing blood, this would make his movement sloppy and not as sharp as before. Unfortunately, Shin couldn't exactly parry since his katana was somewhere else (in Veroer's mid section) and the only way Shin could dodge was by letting go right?

Wrong.

Shin had good instincts, several times the speed of light in fact. His senses were able to pick up the slow and sloppy movement that was a resumed cut in Vereor's arm in time. And speed was a done deal, his body would definitely be able to react, maybe had Veroer actually grabbed Shin's clothes he could've stopped what had happened next but he didn't. Shin didn't have those precious seconds to wrench his sword out and move, he couldn't afford to let his blade slip from his fingers in order to get away. He'd be fucked for sure and honestly, Shin hated having to use hakuda despite being very good at in his class. His sword or his body? Would he have to make the choice? No, Shin would have to do both at the same time. But how could he? How could Shin possibly manage to get his sword out of this guy's flesh and move out of the way?

Shunpo.

It was automatic, a basic dodging move to get Shinigami out of a bad situation and into a good position. All the human would see Shin disappear, blur right before his eyes. He simply couldn't keep up. 40 speed (less than an average human) had absolutely no chance of catching over 1000, even it had a very marginal head start. Hell, all Shin had to do was let go of his sword and dive to one side to dodge Veroer's slow swing. With a shunpo there was no chance, it was easy. In addition, Veroer would feel blinding pain, the pain of his flesh being ripped open. Shin had still been holding his sword when he used shunpo to the left (away from his opponents sword once again). Although he wasn't super strong he had moved at the speed similar to a freight train, it would rip right through his flesh and near cut him in half.

With just that one shunpo Shin had achieved two things, firstly he had managed to escape with his sword and secondly he would dear some serious fucking damage. A sword moving at over 1000 speed from inside of someone's body was fucking painful and it damaging. Organs would definitely end up being sliced and Shin would end up several meters away. The problem was how could Veroer avoid this? The sword was literally inside him. Although taking a blow in an attempt to hit a blow it was risky, especially if the opponent had a speed advantage.

However, even with the massive speed advantage Shin had he still ended up with a minor wound. The swing intended to split his skull had instead gashed Shin's left shoulder and already Shin could feel the warmness wash over him and the pain. Still, with a 1 in pain tolerance and strength of will he could fight through it. He grit his teeth, it had been worth it, Veroer may have been able to deal a blow but Shin was too creative, too bloody quick. Had he been faster, had he not been wounded and easy to read then it wouldn't been a harder blow, it would've hurt much more. But he was slow, he was wounded and that did make him easier to read and if all went well a fatal blow would be struck, all for a gash.

"Is that all you got?"

[Vereor Ejj]

Oh. No matter how hard he breathed, Vereor suddenly couldn't seem to get enough air. Furthermore, his chest was bleeding. A lot. Even with the extra boost in hemoglobin that he got from having Bleeding Tolerance 1, the young man could still feel his life force ebbing away like a cold door being left open in a warm room. However, Vereor would not give in as long as his soul remembered its purpose, and that was to kill. As the huge burst in speed wrenched the sword from his body, it also turned Vereor in the same direction as his enemy. The sudden increase in pain conveniently forced Vereor to lose his grip on the Hollow Seed, and now it was aimed for his opponent by default.

With his last conscious breath, Vereor laughed at the idea that his Hollow Seed would find its way to a victorious location, dealing serious damage to his opponent that would force him to remember the Heir of the Last Sword. Blacking out and dropping to the ground, his body coughed and gurgled as blood welled into his lung and then flowed into the rest of his chest from the gaping wound. Limp, with his sword laying at his side, Vereor clung to life. Death was not part of his purpose, and he had a very strong conviction to live this day and every ever. If he did not, he would not be able to continue killing, and he would fail god. But the scariest part about Vereor was that.. he wasn't alone.

As a part of Xcution, he was usually being monitored by some agent or other to ensure his survival. And since his vitals just dropped to a remarkably low level, help was dispatched to his location. Arriving just as his body hit the ground, the other members of Vereor's specialty tank-based combat team showed up and whisked him away from danger, sending him off to the hospital. Although Vereor wasn't conscious to witness it, his reiatsu emanated from the wounds, slowing the bleeding and numbing the pain.

As he was transported, his breathing became less and less laboured, although he still risked dying if not treated soon. Still, the experience widened the crack deep within Vereor, and his power began to leak out more and more, a little at a time. Soon, he would be strong enough to crush ANYONE who stood in his way, let alone brat shinigami! Even in his unconscious state, Vereor's body still managed to crack a smile of satisfaction.

Slow motion. As Shin exited his shunpo everything moved as if someone had clicked a 'slow' button on a television. Unfortunately, everything was not fine and dandy one more trick, one more small hit of spite was mustered up by the human. And it was coming directly at Shin. His eye widened as the green orb flew towards at full speed. There wasn't enough time, Shin had just come out of a shunpo, he couldn't possibly hope to shunpo again. Anyway, it was too close, a simple sidestep would do but Shin couldn't react quick enough. Only one thing could be done to at least minimize the damage and stop him from being destroyed.

His Asauchi was raised horizontally, just slightly in a defensive position so the technique would collide onto his sword and in a way that his sword arm was protecting his face, if Shin was luckily his sword arm would take most of the damage. It still hit. His skin ripped open and his small hands had second degree burns appear on them. Sharp, hot pain flowed through Shin's arm, it was almost blinding. "FUUUUUUCK!" Was all he managed to scream as he was knocked off his feet. H even fell too slow, it felt as if everything was moving in a slow hourglass, what was less than a second felt like a few seconds of him falling from his stance onto the ground. His arms screamed at him and his stomach lurched as he continued falling down and down and down. It was almost a relief when I finally hit the deck on his backside.

Green, all he saw the green. The green reiatsu that was this human's technique clouded his mind, constantly staying there and lingering for a while. It was everywhere, like a huge blanket plane that just refused to come off. And it was the exact same shade, green with a tint of black. Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone!] Why wouldn't the green go away? All he could see was green, all he could feel was green and all he could taste and touch was green. That same mockery of a colour was everywhere. WHY WON'T YOU JUST FUCK OFF?! With that mental shout his vision cleared in an instant and he was thrown back into reality like a rag doll.

Even with his skill in pain tolerance everything hurt so much. The green was replaced with the pain of his sword arm being burned and lacerated. Had it not been for his strength of will Shin wouldn't have wanted to get up, but luckily could. He gripped his sword and used the tip of it to swing himself up from the ground, slowly yet surely. He was biting back the urge to scream with every movement as he urged his body up. Luckily, his arms had taken the brunt of the damage, meaning his face was still okay and his remaining eye was in perfect condition. Still, the pain was teeth grinding, burns and cuts riddled his sword arm, even holding it was so painful that Shin switched hands (being ambidextrous) but it still felt awkward.

Still, Shin was standing while Veroer was on the ground bleeding out. Shin coudln't drag him back to the Soul Society, not in this state where one of his arms was a wreck. "I did all this for a bounty so I will get my fucking bounty" Shin resolved bitterly. Still, he hated this, he hated this wound he had gained, a wound from a fucking human. He still managed to force a grin on his face, he had still won and victory is what he lived for. He had proved something today, he had proved how superior he was to this human and he had proved just why he had been known as a prodigy. When Shin spoke it came out as little more than a pain filled growl but it would still be heard. "You see now? Do you see the difference between a lowly human and a God? You were pretty dang strong but a human's a human and a God's a God, no matter how yer try and slice it."

Just speaking forced Shin to cough and sputter. His arm was still badly maimed due to his arrogance and carelessness. Had he been a little bit more careful, just that little bit more attentive maybe this would've been easier, maybe he wouldn't be in so much pain. It was through tolerating the pain and willpower that Shin was managing to smile at his victory and not staying on the ground and to bleed. Still, Veroer had made Shin cautious, Shin wasn't even 100% sure he was dead although he should be at least dying. But he had thought that earlier and now look at the state he was in. "I'll have to call for back-up to come here and deal with this guy's body." He spoke to himself.

Fuck, it hurt so bad, so bad that Shin was grinding his teeth. He used his hell butterfly to send for Squad Seven Shinigami to come and deal with this guy. Shin had to go back and get treatment, his reconnaissance was over as far as he was concerned. Shin looked up to the sky, sighing at his situation. He was bubbling with excitement and yet why did he feel like he had lost? Was it because he had been wounded by a human? Shin was supposed to be a God and yet this human had pushed him into this state. This guy was something special but now it was a wake-up call. Shin had to be more serious and less arrogant of it would be more than a maimed arm he would get next time.

What is this? Some sort of wake up call? Maybe so, the Shinigami couldn't continue on like this if he was to take his place among the Gods. What would they think of him now? Almost beaten by a common criminal. Shin scowled at the sky, not even wanting to look at his downed opponent who was bleeding out on the floor right now. All he had to do was just go home. This was Squad Seven's responsibility now and not his. He had taken him down and now they would take him in. I'm supposed to be a God, so why do I feel as if I'm mediocre?

Clearing his head, Shin opened the portal to the Seretei. "Interesting human for sure." Shin remarked as the door swung open for him. It was bright on the inside, that's all he could see at the moment but Shin knew what was on the other side. Home. He'd limb back to the soul society and get treatment and maybe have a drink with himself, the fact that he'd collected a bounty in the bingo book. The thought was supposed to bring a smile to his face and yet he couldn't smile, this victory felt... forced, way to forced for someone that was meant to be a God. I am a God, I am a God, I am a God. He repeated the phrase in his head a few times just to keep his unshakable God Complex stable and take his mind of the pain. When he had re-affirmed that fact in his head his sword went back in it's sheath.

Sighing and shaking his head he stepped inside, letting the door shut behind him.
