One Way or an Otter [Closed Social, R]

(( OOC: This is a social between Ajraka Kuchiki and Kagami Murai, taking place in North Rukongai District 7 at around 5ish o’clock. ))

Kagami had some plans in the back of his mind about becoming Captain at some point, but he was too lazy to think them out much. After all, the only reason he considers taking the position some day is because of the perks of leading a whole Squad in the Gotei 13. Vice Captains are still second best, so moving from first mate to the Captain seems appealing. However, if he were to ever head another Squad, or even move to one, it would definitely not be Squad 8. Who in their right mind would have Kagami handle their money? After all, when he had finally gotten enough cash to pay off his piling debts from his performance in Vegas with that ponytail Kuchiki guy, he decided to make other plans. But one thing lead to another, and Kagami is now currently strolling down the Rukongai streets in a silk navy suit and tie with a white shirt. But Kagami’s bought more suits than he can count so what makes this one different? The answer is the block-spotted white fur cape with a velvet interior. That one definitely cost a handful of bills.

However, he wasn’t done quite yet. With the majority of his paycheck, he purchased a golden crown with jade gems resembling the color of his released Zanpakuto strapped to his waist at each peak. It sat at the top of his head like a monarch on a throne. The Squad 1 Vice Captain was dressed as a King from head to toe, even in his polished new dress shoes. Paired with his natural devilish good looks, he was a site for sore eyes. Anyone else might look like an idiot in that get-up, but Kagami was handsome enough to make girls swoon in whatever clothes he wanted. And, in this case, he just wanted to be a King for a little while. Now penniless, he walked into a local bar that he vaguely remembered blacking out in a few months before. The bartender certainly recognized him, so whatever he had done in his drunken state must have been memorable. After a bit of small talk, Kagami grabbed two scotches and scanned the room, finding an attractive woman drinking by herself in the corner. She glanced up occasionally, apparently looking for someone. However, it didn’t take long before her eyes met the Shinigami’s and her distant face suddenly brightened with a shy smile.

The Vice Captain was right about to make his move before he stopped himself, remembering his recent battle against the Septima Espada. Tell me, is it your love for Manami that inspires you to flirt with every woman you see? To sleep with them once, maybe twice? How many women have you played with during these last seven decades? Amazing how they're important enough to warrant your attention for a brief moment, but then they falter in comparison to your lovely wife. Your devotion to her is amazing, now isn't it? You must truly be head over heels in love with her. He quickly turned his head away, and in one fluid motion drained the first glass of alcohol. The first of many that he had planned to have.

{Kagamis Clothes}

Public places were an .....interesting endeavor when it came to the ottress. For one she both hated and loved crowds. Easy to slip into but also they did tend to draw attention to her for the most part, and the Squad 7 bar was one of those...meh places. Having snuck into the back store room using her sneaky slinking capabilities, she had all but decked herself completely with a multitude of shotglasses, balanced all over her body, quite fond of the prismatic glass structures, even if they did smell a little bit like feet. She never liked the scent of alcohol as it was literally the smell of rotted plants made fancy. Looking to the door that led out of the storage room she paused, compelled to further explore the place some more. Reaching down she ran her fingers along one of the many staplers she'd pilfered from Ana, considering using one to shoot her way out. However looking through the door she spotted something far more......alluring.

It was a rather shiny-looking crown on a rather glum-looking beanpole. Or at least he looked like one in that weird fuzzy cape. But she was far more interested i the shiny halo over his skull. The thing was....pretty darned nice, and even from this distance caught her attention, just as it did with just about everyone else in the bar, be it getting the man a look of confusion, amusement, or intrigue. .For Ajra it certainly got her attention! For better or for worse in a situation like this, as Ajraka's attention was not.....always......positive, to put diplomatically.

The result of Kagami specifically led her to crawl right out of the stock room, a warm, unabashed grin on her face as she began to pick up speed, quite incredibly fast for someone of her training regime. It took only a few secods for her to hit her maximum speed before she promptly leapt up from the ground, promptly aiming to tackle Kagami to the floor as noisily as possible. Her intention being to floor him before he had a chance to react properly, upon which she would proceed to relieve him of his crown, lick his face, as she had cmoe to discover that shinigami, and indeed all humans, had pretty salty skin, and then raced out of the bar, no doubt with Kagami in hot pursuit. Though he would find her quite hard to catch, as while he was ever so slightly faster than her, she had quite the way of making sharp turns down alleyways and giving him a momentary slip.

Before long she would no doubt lead him right in the direction of the kuchiki household. Where her lair was. Using her staplers to fire a barrage of the metal fastenings in his direction whenever he got too close for comfort, the thing s having some impressive range on them. And when they finally did make it to the kuchiki estate, she'd leap acrobatically up onto the roof and race to a nook in the roof which was conveniently just above her room, before she would about-face and bare er teeth, still smiling happily as she have a warning hiss, showing her sharp fang-like teeth as she remained on all fours, making it rather hard to tell if she was either playing with him or making a stand at this point.

There was..... a chance that Kagami might know about her. A new kuchiki adoptee, especially one performed by the Captain Kyo would likely have made some news, especially one so controversial as Ajraka, a beast clansmen. Who was, of course, not only a clansmen, but an incredibly shameless thief and one that didn't speak a lick o english, or even understand it. Many a brooch and heirloom had gone missing, and not very discretely, as Ajra almost always walked right up to people, and mugged them like a grinning toddler, sometimes stapling people to the floor in order to do so. Therefore it was...quite possible indeed that Kagami might know, or at least have heard of the individual he had found himself standing off with.

Kagami wasn’t quite as intent on finishing his second drink as quickly as he had the first. This cup took about a minute for him to the bottom of. And all the while, he was bitterly reflecting upon that unpleasant encounter, trying to come up with ways to defend himself that didn’t sound so pitiful. And for Kagami to pity himself has never happened until now, of course. As long as he ignored his problems, whatever they might be, he always found himself free and unshackled. But now, everything’s starting to catch up to him. With no closure on his life in the human world, those old ties and memories are coming back to haunt him. The more he tries to run away, the faster they follow until they tackling him from behind like a…

Seal lion? The Vice Captain’s train of thought was cut short as, out of nowhere, a seal-like creature decked him off his high stool next to the bar. He didn’t see even see it coming and was too lost in his thoughts to even hear the pounding of her… flippers? Yeah, sure, flippers. The Lieutenant almost contemplated whether his drinks were spiked with a very strange substance, but decided that scenario wasn’t too likely. Shocked and unmoving, Kagami was too stunned to watch as the otter pulled his shiny, new crown right off his head. Someone or something was trying to steal his stuff? His crown, even? “Ey! What the fu-” That’s about as far as he got before he felt its big, wet tongue slide up his face, forcing him to close his mouth mid-sentence. That sure succeeded in confusing him some more.

The seal bolted out the door, and Kagami took a little while before getting off his back and following it. The otter was fast, but Kagami was even faster. It wasn’t long before he was right at its tail. However, even then, the creature would suddenly dart to the side, acutely turning onto another path. Those actions were enough to make up some time before the Shinigami was on the pursuit again. The chase continued for some time until the Kuchiki Manor came to view. It was a mansion that Kagami had passed by several times but hadn’t paid much mind to. But this time, his eyebrows were raised. Sozen didn’t seem like the type to waste his money on a pet sea lion. That seemed more like something Ana would do. Of course, with his inconsistent presence in Seireitei, Kagami had no knowledge that Captain Kyo had adopted a Beast Clansman into the family.

The Vice Captain had finally followed her up onto the roof, staying a step or two behind for the majority of the chase. He decided at one point that he wanted to see where exactly she was headed more out of curiosity than anything else. To his disappointment, she stopped racing and spun one hundred and eighty degrees to face him, showing off her sharp teeth in a wide grin. Kagami decided that this would be the only opportunity he’d get to give her a proper talking to, so all the cockiness that he had tucked away during his somber drink at the bar resurfaced. “I’m giving you one chance to gimme back my crown and run away before I cut you up, cook you, and serve you as dinner to the Captain Commander himself. Do you know who the fuck I am? I’m the fucking Vice Captain of Squad 1, Kagami Murai! Anyone who so much as sneezes too close to me is going to wish they hadn’t been born. And now you had to go steal my motherfuckin crown.” Kagami rubbed his hands together, dramatically staring wide-eyed at the ground like he couldn’t believe what the seal had just done. “I hope the Old Man’s in the mood for some sushi tonight.”

Ajraka simply smiled chipperly as the man continued to speak in her general direction, that cheerful smile unfaltering even as he continued to make noises at her that she didn't quite understand. With that crown hooked into one of her belts she grinned and swished that massive, muscular tail of hers, hopping from left to right excitedly, clearly well-enthused and prepared to mess around. As he sounded relatively serious she found it less and less worth her time to continue looking at him. She sat herself down, lightly scratching the back of her head with her hand rather than her hind leg, showing a level of civilization in her as she rocked back and forth on her seat.

It didn't occur to her that he wanted his crown back, but he seemed to be doing something along the lines of yelling at her. She recognized the tone, a common tone when she stole things, but for the most part she felt no inclination to do anything but smile blankly at the man. However when he finally did shut his trap she suddenly was bucking it as she moved directly at him, like a brown bolt of lightning as she aimed to pounce him to the roof a and pin him down to the top of the roof, more than capable of reorienting her trajectory on a dime, that tail being a wonderful way to rapidly change direction. However there was the possibility of him simply overpowering her if he felt so inclined as she aimed to wrap herself around him like a python, and if successful would immediately begin rummaging through his pockets and clothing to search for anything else she'd be capable of snagging.

Most people would feel a tad stupid in the situation Kagami was in. After all, he may as well have ranted and threatened a newborn infant, for the only response he got was an innocent, oblivious grin. But Kagami wasn’t in the mood to feel stupid, especially after having the intentions to mope around at a bar for the rest of the day. Stupid wasn’t an emotion that was going to cut it for him. He felt like following through with his threat of slicing and dicing the seal into bite-sized pieces. “Your loss, Moby Dick.” Whale, otter, same thing. She was going to end up on a dinner plate anyway, and he was going to wear his crown and dine like a king. Fuck the Captain Commander, he’s turning this seal into a California roll for himself.

Kagami had expected the seal to resume their chase. It would have been the smartest thing to do after the Vice Captain’s threats. However, the seal did the exact opposite; sprint right back at Kagami, closing the small gap of space they had between them, and tackling him to the ground once again. Luckily, she skipped on slobbering over his face this time and went right to the theft. As she went through Kagami’s pockets, finding only a couple of old coins, a toothpick, three condoms, and a pair of Rayban wafers. While she went through his stuff, he closed his right hand around the seal’s back, trapping it if it wanted to escape. The next step was to reach into the pouches he had strapped to his waste, assuming that the otter hadn’t had enough time yet to move on from his pockets, and pulling out a razor sharp kunai, pressing the tip to her stomach so that it would definitely bring her a small yet acute pain but not enough to penetrate her tough skin and thick blubber. “You gonna walk with me to the kitchen, or will I have to take you there the hard way?”

A soft smile was the reply to the name calling. Admittedly she was mildly aware of the fact that there was some sort of threat to the male's tone. But that too was simply part of the game at this point. A dangerous, and possibly life-threatening game, but one she played none the less, and proudly so as it wasn't every day she managed to find so ridiculously-dressed a male. But then again fashion wasn't exactly something she policed, really the only thing she was interested in were shiny objects, and indeed as she began rifling through his pockets like a frenzied hobo she would find something just as shiny and alluring as the crown, and the headpiece would clatter to the roof as she found herself looking at condom wrappers and coins from the man's pockets.

The toothpick and wafers were tossed aside immediately, and she stared only briefly at the condoms, the packaging a bit shiny. As a result she did what she did with all shiny things and bit into one. The material was immediately punctured and quite startled, she spat it out off to the side, dropping the other two condoms to the floor, having lost interest, as she repeated the action with the coins, seeming far more satisfied with the more solid result, and even ignoring the kunai pressed to her navel. Though at some point, regardless of what he tried to do with the knife, she would roll off and continue chewing the coins, amusing herself so it seemed as she seemed to forget about Kagami's presence altogether.

The seal was so indifferent to anything Kagami said and everything that he did. Even with a blade pressed against her, she continued to trifle with his pockets, even tasting a couple of the contents, and then rolled to the side with the objects that interested her. Apparently, all she cared for were the coins, though she did nibble on the condoms. She was either a greedy seal or a perverted and greedy seal. Her interests kept changing. First it was the overly expensive crown, but now that was abandoned on the roof while she fiddled with a some coins. Kagami couldn't follow her reasoning.

The Vice Captain decided to let the otter have its fun for a bit. His anger subsided just as quickly as it emerged, and he returned his kunai to the weapons pouch at his waste. Kagami watched the otter play with the coins with mild interest and confusion. He didn’t know what he was waiting to see, maybe something that explained the seal’s actions and motives? Either way, after a good thirty-seconds of watching and waiting, he made no progress and got impatient. He decided to pull himself back to his feet and retrieve his crown before turning to address the otter. “Look, you seem happy and everything, but I’m gonna need my crown and coins back.”

Ajraka tilted her head as she continued to play with the coins, her tail curling slightly before at long last she noticed him talking to her again. She perked her ears for a moment, peering slightly at the male for a brief moment before smiling, her ears flaring out as she rose to all fours and let out a sharp chitter as she moved in a rapid circle around him, then taking a seat in front of him, keeping her distance as she promptly spoke. "Name! Ajraka Kuchiki!" she declared excitedly, showing off the one word she actually knew, along with her name.

It was in this manner that she introduced herself to the male, and then tilted her head, waiting calmly for him to answer with his own name. At this point she had dropped the coins as well, and her attention seemed solely focused, for the time being, on him. IT was rare, although increasingly more common these days, considering that she had been working, quite extensively, on her attention span. As distractible as she was, she was, slowly, bit by itty bitty bit, she was becoming more and more capable of focusing on things, particularly people other than their shiny objects.

“Name! Ajraka Kuchiki! So she talks? The Vice Captain’s inquisitiveness was perked. The seal seemed to understand what she was saying, but her face kept that stupid, cheerful smile. She set down the coins, her attention now on Kagami. The otter’s focus kept switching like that of a child would. However, the most curious thing was that she was a Kuchiki. To think that whiskers and blubber was a nobleman- er, noble animal? Noble seal? Eh, how about Nobleseal? It kinda flows. Yeah sure, nobleseal will do. How on earth this nobleseal somehow joined the ranks of the Kuchiki is as baffling as it hilarious. Kagami’s been to his fair share of high-class parties, but the mental of a seal with a glass of wine and shrimp cocktail seemed photoshopped.

The otter seemed to be expecting Kagami to say something in return, and so the Vice Captain complied to the best of his ability. “Er, pleasure to meet you, Ajraka. Name! Kagami Murai!” He responded in the same cheerful, excited tone that Ajraka spoke in, half mocking her and half trying to communicate as efficiently as possible. After he greeting, he grabbed his coins and slipped them back into his pocket, along with the sunglasses. As for the toothpick and now useless condoms, he tossed them off the roof. The Kuchiki’s gardeners or servants would find them eventually and throw them out, but Kagami wasn’t currently in the mood. “So, I’m guessing Sozen got lonely and a fish in a bowl wasn’t good enough?”

Technically speaking she'd only bitten holes in one of the condoms. But in any case she simply smiled in response to the male as he introduced himself, briefly stepping back before giving a sort of bow to the male. It was something she'd seen shinigami doing with one another and she figured it would smooth things over between them, that thick tail of hers swishing slightly as her attention shifted smoothly to him as he proceeded to retrieve his items. She quirked her head to the side, intrigued at his choice of priorities, namely getting the little pocket-liners back as opposed to focusing on her.

Once he had his little shinies in hand she simply smiled and leaned in, sniffing him curiously at him and getting a sense of his scent before her ears twitched slightly at the vaguely familiar name. Sozen? She remembered her father mentioning them, but she had never actually met the guy. Suffice to say she gave the shinigami a bewildered look, her head canting to the side curiously as she simply seemed to chill out and watch him for the time being. With the game of snatch-and-steal over, she was relying on him to direct their activities.
