Caballero hopped backwards, falling into a ready, defensive stance with Filo in their stubby little hands. In front of them, a rather nasty Adjuchas, full of cuts and dribbling ichor from between its gritted teeth stood their ground, attempting to somehow intimidate the tiny knight. Their blade was dripping with red blood belonging to the same monster, trickling down the flat of the blade, although the liquid did nothing to conceal the engraving in the weapon: Destruir Huecos. The tiny knight was facing off against one of his peers, and although that was pretty routine and standard for them, the location they were in was not. During one of their normal patrols around Karakura Town, ensuring that no Hollows would be preying on the innocent population of the spiritual hub, they came across one of them that had only just opened a Kumon gate. They couldn't even approach before the monster jumped into it, so that would have been a sort of 'win'... if the creature had returned to Hueco Mundo, that was. However, the faint speck of light beyond the Garganta confirmed that this was not the case: the portal would lead straight to Soul Society, not to the wretched, empty deserts their kin called home.
Naturally, the little knight had taken no time diving into the Kumon gate as well. Even if the Shinigami would undoubtedly come to stop whatever creature had just invaded their home turf, the little bean would not risk anyone getting hurt just by their choosing to not do anything. Caballero had followed them right into the Wilderness, a result of Kumon being a pretty imprecise means of travel when compared to techniques such as Descorrer. What they found there was not just a Hollow, but a large group of them, although most of those were, simply put, complete and utter trash. Only one, the same one they had spotted, should be of any consequence to them.
The weaker Strays had completely frozen upon seeing Caballero. Their leader, an Adjuchas given its strength, had remained capable of thought and movement, and had used that to rally its lackeys into an attack with their numerical advantage. Unfortunately for all of them, they had underestimated Caballero. Without even creating Filo at first, just by sheer, overwhelming might, Caballero used their gravitational pressure to, quite literally, turn the Strays into mulch. Half of them couldn't even stand under the weight, and the rest had one or two seconds of resistence before their Reiatsu gave out, and were likewise crushed by the knight's power without them even lifting a finger. This was a testament to just how much their strength had grown since their earliest days as a Hollow, when they were still a Stray with delusions of Shinigami-hood.
With the small group reduced to just the effective target, Caballero had quickly plunged into battle, determined to take care of this as quickly as possible before Kumon-ing out of the Soul Society, now more aware that their presence there could spell trouble to their friends. While the battle had raged on for a little while, the difference in power, but most importantly in skill, had quickly been made evident. Caballero was pretty much untouched by the bigger, apparently stronger monster, while the beast's body was now missing two limbs, leaving the beast to try and fail to stand its ground against them. It was a pitiful sight, but Caballero had no pity to spare for their kin. Not for kin like this, at the very least.
Deciding to put an end to the creature's misery once and for all, the little knight used another direct attack, zigzagging in their approach to make the opponent shift their weight in an unfavorable position right before jumping in and taking the kill. Given how maimed its body already was, there really was no risk of it escaping or winning any battles, but Caballero took no pleasure in prolonging the suffering of their kin, no matter how much they despised them. It was almost as if they were made to finish them off as quickly as possible before moving on to the next task. Efficiency, not wastefulness.
This time, Caballero did not purify the Hollows. Instead, they used Tendón to tear a chunk of their decomposing Reishi bodies and incorporated it into their own mass. It was a quick, simple, and pretty much clean process with little to no gore involved, far unlike how a normal Hollow typically fed. They did the same for some of the rest of the group; well, for those that their Spiritual Pressure hadn't just crushed into oblivion. With that quick snack serving to sate what little hunger they were feeling, the tiny knight could now rest easy. They did not dismiss Filo, since they would undoubtedly need it later once they returned to Karakura. Just as they had followed this Hollow, others could try to enter Soul Society via Caballero's Kumon gate before it closed. If they wanted to make sure that didn't happen, they would need to defend the gate once they crossed back.
For the time being, the tiny Adjuchas just stared at the Wilderness beyond Rukongai, lost in thought. The blood had also disippated from Filo after racking up that kill, but the engravings still remained, glowing white in stark contrast with the black blade.
