Location: Kidou Corps Complex - Barracks Courtyard
Special Conditions: Amaya at this point has only completed her first year of the Academy. For the thread, she is counted at Class Seven instead of Class Four, and retains her starting-stats instead of her Class Four stats.
Circumstances: It's been a week since the awesomely successful Kidou Corps Officer Party held for Taien. Taien promised to show, and perhaps teach, one Amaya Azarola what he did and how he did it.
(Training for TTP, ran out of space in the title)

Soul Society
Kidou Corps Complex - Barracks Courtyard
10:25 AM, Five minutes before Amaya Arrives
It was a pretty nice day in the Seireitei thus far. The sun was out and warming things, birds could be heard chirping and singining to one another, Hell Butterflies flittered about the airspace, carrying messages and the like for other Shinigami to hear. . . It really seemed like a peaceful day, especially with the Vandenreich Invasion not too far behind them. All seemed well, reconstruction was going swimmingly. . . It was a good day, pure and simple. It was going to be an even better training session then!
Taien Hadohou, Vice Commander of the Kidou Corps, and recent Kawada adoptee, was sitting on a little rug he dragged out from his office and into the courtyard proper. He was sipping a cup of tea he had, and a teapot with a second cup was sitting in the middle of the rug. He was here for a reason of course, other than to admire the scenery. He was waiting for a certain someone to show up. That person of particular interest was none other than one Amaya Azarola, Academy Student. He had sent a Hell Butterfly a week ago at least with an invetation for at least five minutes from now.
Hum, I wonder when she'll show up? Or what she'll show up in! She didn't seem to be one to conform to tradition after all! It'll also be fun to gauge what she knows already. . . How long has it been since I did one-on-one training with an Academy Student? A while I'd guess!
Taien himself had on his Vice-Commander Attire, a sky-blue robe that covered most of his body up from sight was over his regular Shinigami Shinakusho. The robe was patterened with the Kidou Corps Symbol on it's back and arms, but that really was it. It did have some deep pockets though, so that was a plus for holding stuff. The only other things he had on were his Secret Glove gauntlets, his ice-blue Fedora, and the two watches, of which one was his Soul Gauge, and the other his Prototype watch. His Convert-A-Weapon was also safely tucked away. He had taken to wearing them, they were pretty cool in his opinion. Though, when would Amaya show up? He hoped she didn't forget about it, though if she did, he could just send a second Hell Butterfly to her if he needed to. There wasn't really any reason to rush or worry at the moment though, what happened happened after all. It did give him some more time to admire the scenery though.
Refilling his tea-cup, Taien enjoyed what time he had before his prospective student arrived.
Item Description: A fairly nice looking watch at first glance. Its completely black, save for the hands and the numbers. The hands and numbers are crimson red on the right half while the other half is sky blue. Normally all it does is tell time. However, with a press of a button, the watch takes creates a four foot purple circle of energy a foot from the surface of the watch. The circle of Reiatsu has a strength of 400, and deflects anything with lower Reiatsu strength than 400. The watch has four uses, and takes five posts to "reset". A second button on the other side of the clock face allows the strength to go up to eight hundred for one use, but it burns the energy in the watch out for a while, taking twice as long to recharge. As this is a prototype, there are some things wrong with it. While the watch could be used in succession, it overheats the circutry, causing it to burn out. As such, there is a two post gap between uses, otherwise the watch really will break. More advanced models will have it corrected, but until then, it breaks even once overused. It takes a Class 3 person to actually be able to use this watch's battle function.
Price: 1.2 Million Ryo
Ice Gun x 2
Cold Hat
Convert-A-Weapon
Soul Gauge
Secret Blade - Glove Model x2

"Preserving the past, developing the future. That's what the Kidou Corps stands for." -Taien Hadohou
Another busy week at academy had wrapped up Amaya. She had barely gotten a break between the end of her exams and the start of new classes, and now she was getting a special lesson on top of it. Today was the day she was slated for training with the Vice-Commander of the Kido Corps. The two had met at a party last week where Taien had wooed Amaya with his mastery over Kido and charming personality. The kitsune’s flirting had apparently fallen on deaf ears, but she was promised an explanation of some advanced Kido mechanics. She didn’t know much about Taien’s abilities, but she knew from his rank alone that he was one of the best users of Kido in all of Seireitei.
She arrived at the Kido Corps barracks right on time. 10:30 on the dot. Not a second off. Despite the student’s showing, or lack thereof, at her Kendo examination, she was normally a fairly prompt individual. She didn’t enjoy wasting time that could be better spent on other things. Whether it was leisure or studying, there was always something better to do than showing up particularly early or late to a meeting. It also bothered her a good bit if others didn’t adhere to her standards of punctuality. It’s one thing to completely forget about a meeting – Amaya did that plenty – but it’s a completely different thing to show up 10 minutes late. That’s just disrespectful.
So Amaya had arrived on time, and she had done so without any special flair. Last time she was here, she had launched herself over the wall with a failed attempt of Shunpo. That was how she had met Taien. This time, she just entered through the front gates. Oh, and last time she was dressed in a nice sundress. This time, having come from her only class of the day, she was still in her academy robes. They were a simple garment, but they didn’t look too bad. Amaya had hers altered to be a bit more snug on her body. It was a minor change, but it let the outfit remain mildly attractive on her. Wearing this garb, the Kitsune sat down before her teacher-to-be.
”So, what’s on the agenda for today, Sensei?” Of course, because it was Amaya, that last word was said with as much of a seductive purr as she could manage. Taien probably wouldn’t do anything with it, but the interest was obviously there if he chose to act on it.

Taien took the time out of sipping his tea to glance at the watch on his wrist. Ten Twenty-Nine with. . . ten. . . nine. . . eight. . . seven. . . six. . . . fivefourthreetwoone! And right on time, Amaya strutted in the door. She was nothing, if not punctual. Taien didn't seem to react to this much, aside from pouring tea in the second cup and an inclination of the head in her direction. Taien did notice that she was wearing an Academy Student uniform, which probably was to be expected. He did just get her from her class after all.
"Ah, Amaya-San, there you are. I was beginning to wonder where you went off to. Never late or early, right? Anyway, have a seat, rest a bit before we begin."
Taien gestured for her to come and sit on the mat he had out, though she seemed to be heading that way anyway. For a few moments, the two would (probably) sit in relative silence, though Amaya was free to start a conversation if she wished. It was a lovely day as noted before, and things were rather relaxing. This went on for a little while, with perhaps a light conversation or two before the real meat of the day was brought in and summarily beat by two guys with brass knuckles.
”So, what’s on the agenda for today, Sensei?”
Taien could practically feel the intent behind those words. Though he mostly ignored it. While Amaya was indeed attractive, they were here for something else entirely today. That, and Taien had more than enough self-control to more or less make himself immune to such advances. In effect, this made him look rather oblivious to love to most people. Having a fairly strong will helped. Besides, he was her teacher right now and she was his student, it would be indecent!
"Mmm, ready to start then, Amaya-San?"
Putting his cup down and getting off the mat, and gesturing for Amaya to do so, Taien pointed at it and cast a quickly combined Tzuri-Raiden and Sho. Gathering up the stuff on the mat, Taien quickly folded it, levatated away the silverware and china, and tossed the mat into a chest, while the other stuff went elseware to be cleaned. Assuming Amaya was done with her tea of course. Flicking his finger down one last time, the chest snapped shut with a loud "THUNK!" and that was that.
"All right then! The first thing on today's agenda is relatively simple. To put it plainly, I need to see how far along you are with your Kidou practice and the like, so a demonstration would be nice. Whenever you're ready, Amaya-San.

((We forgot to put it in the special condition, but Amaya is granted cinematic use of various low-level Kido that she’d be learning at academy for the purpose of this thread. Also, not counting reiatsu since it’s a non-combat situation.))
"Mmm, ready to start then, Amaya-San?"
”I can think of a few things I’m ready to start…”
Amaya was still doing her best to seduce Taien, but it seemed like the Vice-Commander’s mind was solely on business. A split second after Amaya acknowledged she was ready, Taien used his magical hacks to float away everything not essential for training… which was everything. Amaya really needed to get him to tell how he did that, but it seemed that was to be saved for later. "All right then! The first thing on today's agenda is relatively simple. To put it plainly, I need to see how far along you are with your Kidou practice and the like, so a demonstration would be nice. Whenever you're ready, Amaya-San.”
The kitsune stood up and began to do as she was told, but that was only a secondary objective. Her first priority now was to try and get Taien’s attention off training and onto something more fun. ”Right away, Taien-sensei.” Amaya’s first trick was a simple enough one: mental casting. She motioned as if she were blow a kiss to Taien, but at the same time, she fired off a low-level Bakudo. A harmless beam of red light shot out from her fingers and engulfed Taien. With his mastery of Kido he was easily able to identify it as Geki. Due to the overwhelming disparity in reiatsu strength, it held him for a mere fraction of a second, but mental casting was still likely to be impressive coming from an academy student.
There were more tricks in Amaya’s arsenal. Her skill with Kido was fairly strong for someone with her amount of experience, but it was still too little to do much with. Up next was a minor variation of Byakurai. This too was mentally casted, but that wasn’t what made it special. This spell was impressive because it was not the same as an ordinary Byakurai. Ordinarily, a Byakurai was a single straight line. You fired it, and it was done. That’s all there was to it. This Byakurai was not done so easily. Not only did Amaya maintain a continuous firing for a full second, but a twirl of her finger sent the beam out light out looking like a corkscrew rather than a straight line.
The final spell was merely a show of power. Amaya had shown her skill in mental casting, as well as her skill in manipulating Kido. Now she simply needed to show off the biggest boom she could make. To do that, it meant she needed the Kido they had been working on in class just this week. It wasn’t quite perfected yet, but that wasn’t the end of the world. As long as it exploded against a wall instead of in her face, it was good enough. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south! Hadou Number 31: Shakkaho!"
By using the incantation, Amaya was able to focus her energy well enough to control the 30s level Kido. It flew out from her hand and across the courtyard, eventually exploding against the far wall. With her base reiatsu strength being so weak, the final value of the blast was a measly 96. For an academy student, that was pretty damn good, but it was still less than 10% of the power Taien could muster without even trying. This meant the explosion wasn’t even strong enough to do more than scuff up the wall a bit. On one hand, this was great for the cleaning/repair crews as it didn’t really need any work done. On the other hand, it was kind of embarrassing if a Kido user couldn’t even blow up a wall whenever they wanted to.
"That a good enough demo to get started on something a bit more fun?"

”Right away, Taien-sensei.”
Oh boy. . . He really needed some way of getting her to focus on the training more-so than himself. Granted, he was an important part of the training, but he didn't really need that kind of focus on him. He needed her attention, yes, but. . . Hmm. Perhaps he could throw her right into the fray to demonstrate exactly why he needed her undivided attention on the training? It certainly was an option, throwing her off the cliff of learning into the pit of mastery. Either way, it was going to become apparent soon enough to Amaya that she'd really need to put her all into the training, and less into trying to seduce her teacher.
However, she did do a little performance for him. She demonstrated the ability to mentally cast Kidou, much like he himself could. It wasn't had to figure out that it was Geki, nor that it really wasn't all that effective. Taien simply raised an eyebrow and applied a liiitle push from his Reiatsu and it was broken apart like wet tissue paper. That was sort of to be expected, though. Taien had fifteen times as much Reiatsu Strength as the young student. Still, mental casting this early was sufficiently impressive, and Taien couldn't really find any faults in her form.
Next up was an old favorite, the Byakurai. Amaya demonstrated impressive control and skill when using it, and was able to maintain it for a moment, even adding a bit of a flare to it with a corkscrew spiral pattern. It looked like she had mastered that one at least, and had some innate skill with Kidou to boot. That would make the training a bit easier for her, he conceded, but not by much. The skill of Kidou Fusion came naturally to both Taien and Kyomei-San, but he had yet to meet another Shinigami with similar skills. He didn't quite know how far Amaya would be able to get with it. . . but that was for later. Taien nodded his head, motioning for her to continue.
Her last Kidou was the venerable Hadou #31: Shakkahou. It was an old favorite of many, though Taien prefered Sokkatsui to it. Sokkatsui allowed him to focus his Reiatsu on one particular area, rather than a whole area. She stated the incantation, and fired it at a wall. It was decent, yes, but nothing too horrible for the walls to handle. The entire place was built for Kidou Specialists, so of course the walls were super-reinforced to handle that kind of destructive force. It was also one of the reasons the Corps didn't use paper walls for it's construction...
"That a good enough demo to get started on something a bit more fun?"
"Mmm, yes, that was a good display, Amaya-San. It's given me enough information, I think, so we can continue. . . but first, I must tell you something."
Taien closed his eyes for a moment, and began to speak. He had entered the thus dubbed 'Lecture Mode' from his Academy days.
"As you are well aware, there are many kinds of Shinigami within the Seireitei. There are those who specialize in Zanjutsu, those who specialize in Hoho, those who specialize in Hakuda. . . and then, those who specialize in Kidou. You are one of the later types, if I am not mistaken. Now then, there are multiple kinds of people who use Kidou as well. Those who look at Kidou as static and predictable, only able to be useful as unchanging tools.
Above them, there are those who know that Kidou are a bit more versitile than that, and who have mastered to some degree the Kidou they have. This is where I believe you are at, so far.
Then, there are those who look upon Kidou not as inferior to Zanpakuto, those who acknowledge the many ways Kidou can be used, finding many different uses for the same Kidou many find static and boring. That is where the majority of Kidou Specialists are, and they make up a majority of the Corps.
And then. . . There are those who look upon Kidou and see the truth behind it all. The infinite possibilities presented by Kidou, those who have found the secret of Kidou, and the power to unlock their hidden powers. . . What I am to teach you over the course of a few weeks is a power of the later category of Kidou Users. A catagory occupied by a scarce few individuals, the Kidou Masters. Among the Corps even, there are few of these individuals, both me and Kyomei-San among them.
What I am to teach you is a power few have mastered. What I am to teach you is a Mastery of Kidou, something that is far beyond what you currently would be able to achieve with normal Academy training. What I am to teach you. . . is how to Combine your Kidou together, to fuse their powers to create greater, more powerful Kidou out of lower, baser Kidou. That is what I am to teach you."
Taien opened his eyes, a small glint of light reflected across his sky-blue eyes, a small smirk forming on his lips.
"For that purpose, I am going to need you to devote all your attention to the task at hand."
With that, Taien was finished with his little "Intro to Kidou Fusion 101" speech.
"Now then! A little demostration is in order. . . though you've seen me do this before, fuse my Kidou, I mean."
Something shot out of Taien's palm, quickly enveloping Amaya before she had any warning or time to react. It would feel... odd to her. It was like a softly undulating blanket, or swimming in liquid to her. Flicking a finger up, she rose with the force. Taien's hand movements caused Amaya to move as well. Twirling his finger, Amaya would find herself spinning in a slow, clockwise circle. Taien wasn't really putting any force on the poor girl. If he did, he'd likely snap her in half, probably literally, with the amount of force he could produce from the Kidou. A few moments longer, and Taien deposited her back on the ground before dispelling the Kidou.
"That, my dear Amaya, is one of the easier Kidou Combinations I have discovered. It is also the first one I taught to Kyomei-San when we were in the Academy together."
Glancing at Amaya again, Taien continued.
"If you feel like trying to use it, feel free to. It's one of the ones that shouldn't backfire too horribly if it gets out of hand. . . Though I might want to set some mattresses up,"
Which he did.
"Now on paper, it sounds simple enough. Combine two Kidou together to create a new effect. In practice however. . . not so easy. Go on, try this one out. You'll see what I mean, from before, about your focus, and now. . ."
Really wasn't much left to do but see how Amaya-San fared.

"Preserving the past, developing the future. That's what the Kidou Corps stands for." -Taien Hadohou
Taien’s feedback was… disappointing. Some would see it as praise. He had said a first year academy student was better than those who believe Kido to be static and unchanging… but weren’t those just the people that dropped out of academy because they were failing Kido class? Seriously, Amaya was totally at the second level Taien was talking about. She didn’t even have a Zanpakuto yet. How was she supposed to think they were better than Kido before she had one? I mean, sure, there was plenty of room for Amaya to grow her skills. She couldn’t even use much about 30s level Kido at this point, but her progress with that they were teaching her thus far had her at the top of her class. How was she supposed to improve on that?
Surely Taien hadn’t intended this, but he’d actually managed to make Amaya rather somber. She tried to stay interested as Taien kept talking, but it was hard. It was obvious to anyone watching that Amaya had a huge crush on Taien, and he’d just stepped all over her confidence. That speech had taken the kitsune from up on Cloud Nine all the way down to the point of actual sadness. Considering how happy she normally was, it was rather impressive to get her feeling this down. The idea of Kido Fusion seemed cool and all, and Amaya did want to learn it, but it just wasn’t enough to get her mind off the general tone of Taien’s comments. If she wasn’t anything special, how was she going to learn a trick only used by the masters?
While that did mean her focus was no longer on getting in bed with Taien, it also meant that the suggestion to focus on the task at hand was unlikely to happen. Still, even feeling so glum, it was hard for Amaya not to enjoy the sensations she experienced from the Vice-Commander’s demonstration of Kido Fusion. Flying is kinda awesome. It’s like riding a jet ski. Have you ever seen someone not smile while riding a jet ski? Nope? Didn’t think so. Same goes for the first time someone flies. It’s almost impossible not to smile. On top of that, the feeling of the Kido against her was….interesting. It was kinda like swimming in pudding… not that Amaya had ever made that one happen before. She really needed to make that one a reality sometime.
Soon enough, Amaya was back to neutral at least. She was still far away from her normal levels of cheer, but she wasn’t as morose as a moment ago. That was a good thing for Taien. He had just brought out a bunch of mattresses to cushion Amaya if she fell, and the kitsune actually believed that was their purpose. If her emotions had been a bit more in either direction, she would’ve decided it was suggestive. Had she been as gloomy as a moment ago, she would have taken it as an insulting tease. That would’ve been the end of the training session right there. On the other hand, if Taien hadn’t knocked her down a few pegs, they’d probably both be on one of those mattresses already.
As it happened though, Amaya was unfazed by the mattresses. Instead, her attention was on the training, but it was elsewhere as well. Her mind was on her own inadequacy. This is what prevented her success. Her failure was aided by a lack of an explanation on how to actually fuse Kido together, but even with that, her chance of success on the first shot would’ve been slim. Without an explanation, Amaya’s best guess was to simply fire the Kido at each other at basically the same time. This was not fusion. This was simply two Kido at once. The result was easy to predict based on her plan. The timing wasn’t perfect. A sho from her right hand shot into her left hand, flinging it backwards. The Tsuzuri Raiden she cast had nothing to grab onto, save Amaya herself. She was electrocuted as a result. It wasn’t horribly painful since her Kido lacked a great deal of power, and this one was low class, but her hair and tail were amusingly poofy now.
”Okay… that hurt a bit. I think it’s safe to say I’m not going to figure this out without a step-by-step guide Taien.” Even Taien with his lack of negative emotions would notice the change in Amaya’s voice and the lack of a honorific. Though the Vice-Commander couldn’t feel negative emotions, he could notice the absence of positive ones. The kitsune’s tone was flat and nearly emotionless. If anything, it showed a hint of anger. There wasn’t a single trace of desire left to be found. Even someone like Taien would notice the difference, but the question that remained was how he would interpret it. Knowing the Vice-Commander, he was probably going to manage to get the wrong idea somehow.

Though it was true Taien lacked the emotions to feel things like regret, shame, and other related "Oops" emotions, he did know when he had messed up. Taien had studied the faces of his classmates at the Academy, his underlings and officers in the barracks, just so he could hold a better conversation with someone. Or, in this case, to figure out that he had said something wrong, or done something wrong. He thought about what he had done wrong for a few brief moments before he concluded what the problem was. It was. . . such a simple mistake. Usually he didn't do stuff like this.
I forgot to explain potential and what I meant by the levels. Whoops.
Amaya spoke in her flat voice to him.
”Okay… that hurt a bit. I think it’s safe to say I’m not going to figure this out without a step-by-step guide Taien.”
Taien closed his eyes for a brief moment before opening them to look back at Amaya.
"Ah, forgive me, Amaya-San, I seem to have neglected to tell you two more things, along with what I just had you do. The only other person I have personally trained like this would be Kyomei-San, so I apologize as to not explaining it better.
The first thing I neglected to tell you was what I meant by the levels of Kidou awareness earlier. I classified you as of the second category, yes? I didn't actually tell you what I meant by that, did I?
Those of the first category would be, in my opinion, from the Academy all the way up to mid-tier Seated Officers. Why do I classify them as such? Because a vast majority of them simply do not have the experience or talent necessary to bring out the full potential of Kidou. The ones that do have the potential often advance out of that category fairly quickly.
The second category, the one I put you under, is generally for the higher tier of seated officers, and even some of the Vice-Captains. At the current level you're at, I'm more than confident you could take a Fourth Seat, even Third Seat when you leave the Academy. What matters isn't the strength and amount of Reiatsu you have, but creatively using what you have. That, Amaya-San, is what you have over the vast majority of your peers and lower seated officers. Even better, I do believe you'll fit into the third category, home of the majority of the Captains, quite easily with some training under your belt.
And, in my opinion, the most impressive thing of all. . . You have the potential to be of the fourth category one day. Learning this technique is the first step towards that. Keep in mind, this is a rather secret technique, and not just anyone could learn it. However. . . after seeing what you can do, I'm confident you will be able to, Amaya san. You are the kind of person that only comes once every few generations that is one not like me and Kyomei-San that can attain this level.
Now, for the second part. . . Hrm. . ."
Taien took on a thoughtful pose for a while. How would he explain this to Amaya? Kidou Fusion was something that one had to be taught, but at the same time, they had to grasp the concept themselves as well. He could tell her all he wanted, but if she never got it, she wouldn't be able to learn it. Which was a rather moot point, though, as she definitely had the potential to learn and master the secret Kidou technique. He just had to figure out the right way to explain it to her.
"I'll answer the question with a question of my own. What makes up Kidou? What are its components? Reiatsu is one answer, yes, but it's just one part of it. The answer to this question is the Form, the shape and outer workings of a Kidou, and the Effect, the power and inner workings of a Kidou.
This technique will allow you to mix and match the Effects and Forms of the Kidou you choose to create new, more versatile creations.
I will say you had sort've the right concept in mind earlier with shooting the two together. To preform Kidou Fusion, you must form the components for both spells at the same time. You must gather the Reiatsu for each, form each within yourself, and then choose which spell will donate its Form, and which will donate its Effect. With that, you can make many different possible spells with only two Kidou.
I will warn you that even knowing this, the process will be a long and hard trial for you. Along the way to learning it, we'll be increasing your proficiency with Reiatsu Control, the Kidou you do have, and even learning some new Kidou. This is gonna take a while. A long while. Even though I think I already know the answer, Amaya-San. . . are you ready?"
A waiting smile was all that Taien gave at the end.

"Preserving the past, developing the future. That's what the Kidou Corps stands for." -Taien Hadohou
Well… Amaya got what she asked for… and then a good bit more. Taien had a LOT that he had forgotten to say apparently. It was nice to hear that one of the things he’d failed to mention was her potential was good. Still, that was only her potential. It meant she could reach that, but it wasn’t a sure thing. What this really meant in her eyes was that she still had a lot of work to do. It wasn’t an insult or anything, but Amaya still didn’t quite see it as a compliment. The earlier blunder had ruined any real chance of Taien making this appear to be something beyond covering up what he had just said. It could’ve been worse… but it also could’ve gone a lot better.
The second thing that Taien hadn’t initially mentioned was how Kido Fusion actually worked. It was definitely impossible for Amaya, someone who wasn’t a technique master, to understand it intuitively. She needed a concrete explanation that she could break down and understand. That’s what she was given… kinda. It was definitely more than she had before, but Taien’s explanation wasn’t perfectly clear to someone who wasn’t already a master of the technique. I mean, let’s look at the techniques they were using. The first was Sho. This was an invisible blast of force. It didn’t really seem to have any kind of form at all, and finding an effect wasn’t much easier. The force itself was probably the effect, but that still left Amaya wondering what the form could be.
Tsuzuri Raiden wasn’t much better. The effect was pretty easy there. Amaya had just experienced it firsthand, so she was pretty sure the effect was a shock. On the other hand, the form was still almost impossible to figure out. Tsuzuri Raiden lacked anything resembling a distinct form. It was just a blob of energy at first… and it followed the properties of electricity after that. It could be sent down a conductor, or it could shock someone… but that was just the effect wasn’t it? It made electricity, and then it did things electricity does. To Amaya, that sounded like another technique that didn’t really have a form. So, she hadn’t managed to figure out the form for either technique… but she needed to at least try something. Taien wasn’t really saying much else anymore, so her only option was to go for it.
”Probably not ready… but I don’t really have a choice now do I?” With those words, Amaya began her best effort to try and combine the spells into one… but then she realized she didn’t even know what she was trying to do. What was the combined effect of a Tzusuri Raiden and a Sho? The former was the formation of electricity, and the latter was the creation of force… so she needed to make something behave like electricity and apply physical force at the same time. That sounded easy enough, right? Not really. Amaya was still basically clueless about this whole process, and she had no clue if she her intuition was right or not. The only real way to find out was to try it.
And so the kitsune gave it her best shot… but she had made a rather large mistake. She had tried to combine to effects, but it had no form. The result should be obvious enough based on what happened last time. Both effects simply exploded out. She was sent flying a few feet, and the poofyness on her hair and tail got a refresher. ”Okay… I still think I’m missing something here, but I think I at least know what it is this time. How exactly does that form thingy work?” She was making progress… but not a whole lot. She understood the theory a bit more, but the result wasn’t much better than the first time. Heck, it might even be worse. Amaya still had a long way to go on the road to mastering Kido Fusion.

”Okay… I still think I’m missing something here, but I think I at least know what it is this time. How exactly does that form thingy work?”
Taien smiled and then continued.
"Now we get into the meat of it. Form is. . . a bit tricky to explain. By definition, every Kidou has a different Form. Some are more obvious than others, Shakkaho is an orb, Sokkatsui is a slightly different orb, etc. In the case of something like Tzuri Raiden, which has no apparent form, it's actual Form acts more akin to something like water. When donating said form, it enables the other technique to be used sort've like how I showed you Betsudoutai. The Effect of Sho flowing in to the Form of Tzuri Raiden created a 'wave' of force, of sorts."
Taien once more extended his hand, and winced at the twin jolts of pain that shot down his arm. Well. That was new. Not debilitating or anything, but it was a bit painful nonetheless. Still, it didn't really interfere with his spell-casting, and thus it was quickly forgotten. This time, he more slowly, deliberately, drew out the process of the fusion. Both instances of the spell could be seen being invoked, and the rate at which they were fused was drawn out to a much slower, easier to see pace. Normally this kind of thing would be rather useless in combat, but it was definitely a useful tool for teaching. While normally Sho was colorless, and rather invisible, the way Taien was doing it now made it visible enough to be something like a transparent opaque in color.
Taien wasn't quite sure Amaya would be able to see the inner workings of how it was working, but having a visual to go off of helped usually.
"One more aspect of Kidou Fusion. The way it works is influenced by your own way of thinking. Different people see different ways any given Fusion is possible. How I see this technique being created is different than how you see it being created. As I've also said before, imagination and creativity are the two things you'll need to use this technique to its maximum effectiveness, both of which you have in spades. All it takes is that one spark of inspiration."
Taien snapped his fingers, and the fusion harmlessly dispelled.
"Preserving the past, developing the future. That's what the Kidou Corps stands for." -Taien Hadohou
With that explanation, everything just sort of clicked in Amaya’s brain. She had all the information that she needed, and that meant she could actually figure out what needed to be done. It all made sense now. A kido that seemed to lack a form didn’t lack it at all. The form just wasn’t solid. Tsuzuri Raiden was electricity, and thus the form of it behaved like that. It was in a constant state of flux, always looking for some way to move or flow. That was what Amaya hadn’t understood before. This time, when she attempted to cast the kido, her process was much different, as was the result. There were no more silly failures on this most basic combination, as she had grasped the basics of the process at long last.
She held the energy for a Sho on the tip of her finger, but didn’t just fire it out. Instead, she slowly dragged the force outwards, causing it to slowly snake downwards like an undercooked strand of pasta. Once it reached a satisfactory length, Amaya let it detach from her body and began to move this strand of force around. Her reiatsu strength wasn’t great enough for her to do anything truly impressive with this controlled force, so she simply tested it out in a way that one would only expect from someone like Amaya. She used the fusion as a hairbrush. Seriously though, her hair was still all poofy from the failed attempts, and her tail was a mess too. With the aid of Betsudoutai, she forced her hair back into place and smoothed out her tail a bit. It wasn’t perfect, since she had no mirror, but it was good enough to prove she could use that fusion properly.
The two of them continued on like this for quite some time, and not just hours. Their training took days, weeks, even months before it was completed. Kido Fusion was a complex art, and Amaya had only grasped the very basics of a highly complex usage of Kido. Even her first Betsudoutai was far from perfect. The form was awkward, and the manipulation of it took time to get used to. Eventually though, she grew to reach a point where there was little Taien could do to teach her until her power grew enough to begin trying out more powerful fusions. Amaya had a decent knack for Kido, and her skill continued to grow, but Taien could also only afford so much time for training sessions. Eventually, the training simply had to be considered done. Perhaps one day, when Amaya was stronger, they could get back together just to see what she could learn with the new tricks she picked up by then.
