Google gave me a fitting song for this post.
"I will be stopped? You will stand up to the God of Fear?" The taunt was ignored for the most part… except that was a total lie. Yoko was focusing solely on driving her blade into his chest, and for just a moment, that focus was enough to save her from believing him. He was a yellow lantern. They were mortal men, not gods. Right? Hopefully her limited comic knowledge was accurate. Even if it wasn’t her attack was unchanged. So what if he was a God? Kratos killed those all the time. She just… needed to become as strong as Kratos… fuck. Okay, well, maybe this wouldn’t go so well, but she had to try at least. That was the only option she had right now.
Putting that fear beside her, she charged forward at the God of Fear. Just as it looked like she was about to strike true, he darted to the side to avoid her. The speed he showed was simply impossible. It was easily twice as fast as he was a second ago. Was he simply holding back this entire time? Was she that weak that he could toy with her so much? She tried to turn to face him, screaming in a mix of fear and anger as she did so. [smear:00ff00]”DAAAAAAAAMMMMNNNN YOOOOUUUUU!!!!”[/smear:007700] She was blinded by her fear, and she never saw the floor rise. Instead of turning, she simply fell to the ground, skidding a good fifteen feet before coming to a rest.
She didn’t rise. No, she was utterly outmatched. He was a God. Defeating him was beyond her it seemed. Even though she did not move, this deity of despair felt that she had not suffered enough. He came up behind her and put her arm into a lock. His strength wasn’t so great that the lock could incapacitate her through her pain tolerance, but his aura was a different story. It was now strong enough to begin burning through her joints, and burning her elbow through her armor. Her muffled grunts of pain were drowned out by the enemy’s words. "Just one plea for your life, with sincerity and maybe a little bit of tears is enough for me to let you go on your way, never to be targeted by me again. You know this in your heart to be true."
A way out had been offered, but it seemed too good to be true. She wouldn’t give in… but what could she do. Wait, how had she not realized this mistake before now? He was grappling her sword arm. The blade was extending out past the enemy's arms and up into the air, but it was still there, and it could still be used. This was a special blade. Mustering up all the courage she had left, Yoko mentally willed her blade to convert back to gun mode. The blade folded backwards, so that it was running along Yoko’s arm. Only one thing was in the way and that was this man’s neck. With superior reiatsu strength, the blade would penetrate right through his barrier.
Without anything else to stop it, the blade cut into his neck, but not enough to deal a fatal wound. Even with his new speed, he had used up so much power that he was running on empty already. On top of that, he was sitting on top of her bragging and assuming he had already won. Reacting to a surprise attack at that distance would normally be hard, but in his current state, doing so would truly prove he was a god. Too bad he wasn't. The proof was that a single drop of blood fell down his neck and splashed on the floor next to Yoko. She realized what had happened, and all the fear instantly left her.
