Participants: Myzaraphiston Synderfell (Primera Fraccion), Gilles (Vandenreich Stern Ritter Captain) World: Human World Thread Setting: Non Death Enabled Rating: R Location:
A small town that has been spiritually poisoned and infected by Hollows. There is no human population anymore, and the Hollows that naturally live in the area aren't exactly in the best of shape.
Special Conditions:
None.
Circumstances:
Myza doesn't often feel hatred. Extreme anger, yes. A momentary bout of rage because of an insult upon the Chosen People, yes. But hatred is an emotion she reserves for one thing, and one thing only: Quincy.
And now, she's received some most wonderful news. There are Quincy who have made themselves obvious in the Land of the Living, have attacked Hollows recklessly. Even better, it's not the piecemeal one or two that she's seen in the past. It is multiple Quincy in the same place, more than she's even seen in her lifetime.
So Myza has staked out a claim on the town, changed its Hollow inhabitants ever so slightly so that the death of many of them at once will let off a tool she has only seen Quincy use: Hollow bait. When she catches the scent, that will be her sign that the Quincy have returned to this area. And thus the Holy Extermination shall begin....
The Invasion was going smoothly so far. The Captain Commander had been broken, as well as much of the Seireitei itself. The Soul Society was in shambles, awaiting a purge that would restore the Quincy to their proper place in the universe. Everything was going smoothly, and though the Stern Ritter labelled G mourned the loss of research material and entertainment, the Shinigami did have to go. They had failed their job to balance out the Hollows, and they would be subject to the Emperor's wrath. So The Glass Castle simply watched the battlefield, directed his soldiers as necessary, but mostly kept his distance. Upon a broken building he watched and just meditated on the field, his Energy Sensory stretching a few miles of land. It was no surprise when a subordinate approached.
"Captain, a report. The training town is full of the poisonous Hollows again." Gilles scoffed, starting to laugh quite loudly and obnoxiously. "Well! I better go handle that then. Continue the Extermination." With a flourish of his Musketeer cape, he left the Soul Society battlefield to make his way back to the Land of the Living. The town was nestled in a small valley with cliffs on either side, an ocean on one end, and a grassy plain on the other. As he entered the village, he noticed that the Hollows were even weaker than before, as if they had been newly formed without too many souls. "Exterminatus time." The Glass Castle simply let loose his reiatsu, popping most of them like fleas and those that were driven to the ground he cut into pieces with his Seele Schneider that appeared like a saber. They were all gone in a matter of minutes. As he did that, he'd probably sense a powerful presence on the horizon, whether Myza appeared by Garganta or walking, due to his immensely strong Energy Sensory abilities. "Well, well. An actual match rather than these hollows arrives. The Musketeer will cut it down for the Glory of the Emperor!"

As any predator could attest, sometimes the best way to hunt down your prey was to set up a trap. Even as a member of the Chosen People, Myza still had a certain fondness for this particular strategy, particularly when the quarry she was after was Quincy. She felt a small shiver of delight go up her spine as she just thought the word, and licked her lips under her mask. She considered it immense good fortune on her part that she had acquired the information on the sudden mass appearance of the Quincy in that town, and as a favor from God himself for her adherence to her purpose in life and the punishment of those who strayed from theirs.
She was on the other side of the Dangai from the Land of the Living, along with more than a few other mundane Hollows they all gave her a wide berth, simply because they knew that none of them would stand a chance against an Arrancar. Myza paid their caution no mind, simply sitting and waiting for her signal, like she had been for the past three days. She had needed to work quickly to convert souls into the Hollows she would need to draw out the Quincy, to alter them so that they would give her the sign she needed for when they arrived.
And she got that sign. Even as an Arrancar, the scent of the Hollow Bait she had woven into the being of her created Hollows was intoxicating. It was a delicious aroma, one that seemed to promise easy prey and power. It was no wonder that it drew in droves of Hollows like it did. It was like placing crack in front of an addict.
As she smelled the Hollow Bait, Myza stood up, licking her lips under her mask once again. Then the Garganta opened, directly above the central square of the town. She felt the Quincy's pressure bear down against her somewhat, but paid it no mind. It was inferior to even that pathetic excuse of a Captain she had encountered, not even remotely a problem for her to shoulder. She chuckled slightly at the feeling, then stepped out of the tear in reality that she had made.
She activated her Pesquis as she walked along the air-ground, quickly able to pinpoint where her prey was. She casually walked that way, and eventually caught sight of the Quincy. Her chain was already out in her hands, and she began whirling it slightly when she saw him. She was roughly 15 feet above him in the air, so for the moment, he would be out of the reach of her chain. However, that didn't matter to Myza. She could close the gap easily enough.
In the meantime, Gilles would easily be able to see Myza. The female Arrancar was nothing short of beautiful, if you neglected the hints of her Hollow nature. She was dressed in a tight, white outfit, one that would seem signature of the First Arrancar army. Her mask fragment was attached to the lower portion of her face, a nearly ear-to-ear grin that seemed to mock the Quincy, but also somehow threaten him. And then there was the Hollow Hole located in her pelvic area. Still, even with these, it could be almost easy for someone to mistake her for a human. Almost, but not quite.
"My my. A Quincy. You're an oddity to see in the world these days, now aren't you?" Myza's voice was bubbly, happy, almost innocent. But it had a slight undertone to it, as if it were suggesting some sort of sensuality was underneath. However, this tone quickly disappeared as Myza pointed the left hook of her chain at Gilles, being replaced by the tone one would get from an angry girlfriend. "Your last words. Now. Then I will execute you so that your filth will no longer defile God's plan, and feast upon your flesh and spirit."
The mystery ambusher arrived after a long way of walking from the Village Center. Every step was known to the Vandenreich Captain, who did absolutely nothing to prepare. That wouldn't be Honorable, now would it? The Musketeers wouldn't have done such a thing as prepare a trap for the more powerful enemy walking towards them, thus Gilles would do nothing to prepare. He sheathed his Seele Schneider, recapped his Spiritual Pressure, and waited with perfect posture. She arrived, the strikingly beautiful woman. From a distance she looked stunning, though as she neared closer it seemed that looks were deceiving. A mask covered the lower half of her face, and a hole was through her pelvic region. An abomination, a mix of Hollow and Shinigami, an Arrancar stood before him. "Another reason to Exterminate the Shinigami. Their failure to destroy hollows went farther than what can be considered 'ok'. They empowered the very force they were supposed to combat."
She appeared as a temptress, trying to woo the Glass Castle with her song. "My my. A Quincy. You're an oddity to see in the world these days, now aren't you?" You couldn't tempt something that was reviled by your existence. You also couldn't trick a Captain of the Vandenreich so easy into giving up important secrets, like the existence of a massive force of Quincy. "What do you care, she-witch? I am myself, and I am here." A small bow appeared in the Stern Ritter's hand, a one foot long shortbow that barely looked like it could harm a dog. The Arrancar's tone changed, sounding angry, offensive, and impatient all at the same time. "Your last words. Now. Then I will execute you so that your filth will no longer defile God's plan, and feast upon your flesh and spirit." Gilles just laughed, quite loudly, seemingly quite amused with the command. "Last words are for the dying. I'd rather hear more about this god you serve. Gods are even more fun to watch than Shinigami!"
Gilles raised his hand to his face, and threw it down toward the ground, releasing a chain from around his arm. This just revealed his Quincy cross, a silver piece with a ruby set into it. An arrow notched on the small bow, a teal colored projectile of reiatsu that wasn't too large. It was a Class 3 arrow, Gilles' attempt to match the initial estimate of the power of the Arrancar before him. As the arrow fired in just a split second after the Quincy had finished his "last words" the speed was doubled, a possible effect of the small bow. The arrow was aimed for Myza's chain rather than her body, seeking to go through it and use the wider back end to pull it out of her grasp or pull her along. With his mastery of Deadeye, Gilles had threaded needles at fifty paces without an issue, so hitting the chain wasn't a problem. If Myza moved it then there might be an issue, obviously.
Remaining Reiatsu: 2900/3000 (-50 Class 3 arrow, -50 2x speed)

Myza was no novice when it came to fighting Quincy. Barring some of the older Arrancar, she was probably among the few in Los Noches that had actually faced the bow-wielders in combat. She knew that the size of the bow the filth had summoned was irrelevant, though she could already feel that he wasn't quite capable of penetrating her Hierro. What was important was the small cross he had shown her, a vital piece of equipment that most Quincy came to rely on.
However, before she had much of a chance to settle on the cross, Myza saw the man notch an "arrow". The arrow fired out at blistering speed, but it was too late. Myza had started her own offensive, and was taking it to the place that every Quincy should dread: close-quarters combat. There had been the sound of static, and the Arrancar would be there, 2 feet in front of him. If he had never fought anything but weak, malformed Arrancar before, the stepping technique would be more than a little bit of a surprise. After all, weak Arrancar didn't have Sonido. Weak Arrancar lacked many things that Myza had, including the iron skin of a Hierro.
However, the arrow had indeed hit her chain. It had just simply failed utterly in damaging the Zanpakuto. The difference in power between the two of them was immense, and thus the Quincy couldn't even dream of harming her weapon. However, her weapon could easily harm him, and was quickly coming in to do so. One of the hooks was swinging towards the back of his leg, having earned a slight bit of forward momentum from her initial step that had quickly been intensified and altered with a simple flick of her wrist. While it would be easy for Gilles to probably notice that, his attention would more likely be caught by a more dramatic movement: Myza reaching towards his Quincy Cross with her other hand.
Either action would be devastating if it wasn't somehow countered. The chain would rip into Gilles' leg, shredding several muscles needed for movement and crippling him for the rest of the fight. If the Quincy Cross was grabbed, Myza would be able to use a combination of both her physical strength and superior reiatsu to crush the tool, which would severely hamper the Quincy's intake of reiatsu. This was a bad situation for the Stern Ritter, and the fight had just barely begun. What would he do?
Myza moved a top speed, closing the gap between the two of them in an instant while swinging her chain. The Arrancar wasn't particularly masterful at Energy Sensory, but with the level of it that she did possess, along with the Pesquis that she had activated, she'd realize that something was very, very wrong. What had been a weak human standing before her, that had half her strength of reiatsu had suddenly jumped in strength to become equal with her. Furthermore, his Spiritual Pressure, which had been already superior to her, increased to double what it was. The Physical Manifestation of Willpower, particularly the subset of Gate, had doubled both his reiatsu strength and his Spiritual pressure. Now that reiatsu strength of the two was equal, and that the spiritual pressure of the Quincy was vastly superior, he had the advantage.
Gilles was a multitasker. His brain worked so that he could do multiple things at the same time, micromanaging his body to do wondrous things. Some people could pat their heads and rub their stomachs at the same time. Gilles could do those while riding a unicycle and reciting poetry. He was just that good. While he was activating Gate, he was also doing two other things. He had exceptional Energy Sensory, as well as great Instincts, so he could tell that even with Gate he'd only break even with the Arrancar, thus he sharpened his reiatsu just a tiny bit in a mere fraction of an instant. That raised his reiatsu strength by a small two points while lowering his spiritual pressure by two points. That gave him superiority in both Reiatsu Strength and still in Spiritual Pressure.
While activating Gate and sharpening his reiatsu by a fraction, a second technique activated, one that even an Arrancar that was used to fighting Quincy wouldn't have seen before. Blut, the Blood Strength of the God-King, ran through The Glass Castle's veins, causing him to be immune to damage that wasn't stronger than he. Now that the Arrancar and the member of the Vandenreich were on just barely less than equal footing with Reiatsu Strength, neither of them could harm each other just yet. Myza's Hierro protected her from some damage, though Gilles' Blut prevented him from being damaged at all. Gilles had not had enough time to really increase his abilities to the point where he could cause cutback from the Arrancar's, and it was doubtful that he would be given the time due to Myza's superior speed.
Meanwhile, Myza's hand reached for the Quincy Cross while her chain attempted to sever the muscles in the leg of the Vandenreich Captain. The chain hook would be unable to cut into the skin of the Quincy, but would still be able to catch itself around the leg and pull. With the Arrancar's superior strength, Gilles would be put off balance by his leg coming out from under him, though no damage would be done to him. Coming off balance, his arm bearing the Cross would retract away from the Arrancar's grabby hand, causing it to be safely out of the way. Even if Myza did do something to adjust her grab to get the Cross, with Gilles now superior reiatsu strength, the Cross that was an extension of his soul would be safe from being able to be crushed so easily.
As soon as the Quincy began to lose balance from the leg going out from under him, he moved away from Myza ever so slightly. Movement was another Physical Manifestation technique that, though it wasn't superior to most any other stepping technique, was basically effective. Gilles would move backwards a foot with a x5 increase to his speed, further extending the distance between him and the Arrancar, but probably only for a moment. While moving backwards, flakes of ivory settled around half of Gilles' face, looking like a mask from the Phantom of the Opera when it settled. The Vandenreich offered no explanation for why the Arrancar couldn't cut him, or what the mask was, for the Holy Army did not sacrifice such details so easily.
The small bow that had been in Gilles' hand dissipated and a rumble of reiatsu heralded the coming of a greater power. Pouring from his soul, reiatsu became physical and settled into a large crossbow that occupied both hands. Since Myza had hunted Quincy before, she may recognize it as Letzt Stil. Final Silence. Gilles was serious about deposing the Arrancar who thought herself to be a servant of some god. "Speechless, eh? You refuse to tell me about this God of yours? You'd rather fight and die than share His teachings? What kind of servant does that make you..." Gilles aimed the crossbow at Myza, but he did not fire. He simply waited for her to tell him about her religion while drawing in reiatsu like Quincy do. Arrancars who believed in a higher power were rare, and he wanted the delicious morsel of information that she had to offer him. Sometimes, curiosity killed the cat, but rarely when the cat had power enough to protect itself.

(Oh, Kyo, you forgot to account for your stepping technique last post. Just lettin' ya know.)
Now there was something Myza hadn't expected. The virtual explosion of reiatsu wasn't really that much of a surprise to her, since she had encountered a few more-powerful humans who could do that same thing themselves. And at least it wasn't to the level that thing from Chernobyl elevated himself to. No, what was interesting was the fact that after powering up, she hadn't hurt him in the slightest.
She knew for a fact that her chain had hit him. She had felt the slight resistance of the man's leg as it came back, but she hadn't felt the ripping, the tearing that her weapon would normally cause. She hadn't smelled the hot tang of blood, heard a cry of pain from him as she damaged sensitive, vital muscles. All she had done was trip the man, and even that didn't seem to phase him. He was still able to use the brief collection of Reiatsu under his feet to move further away from Myza, though the total distance he moved was no more than a foot, leaving the man still easily within the Arrancar's close combat range.
However, Myza wouldn't be attacking him. While the man was fully righting himself after his stepping technique was used mid-trip, Myza had already figured out exactly what had happened. She was adept at picking apart an enemy's attacks a defenses mid battle, so much so that most attempts at using a technique she had never encountered before would work, at the best, once. And in the time that it had taken him to finish his step, she had figured out certain facts about the unfamiliar defense.
The lack of harm to him without it coming back to harm her completely ruled out cutback, or anything that might have resembled it. The reaction that her chain had with the initial impact on his leg was like only one other defense Myza had encountered: Hierro. However, the real indicator of what it was like was the very slight difference in the spiritual power that the Quincy had invoked by charging for a moment. From the simple fact of Gilles charging his reiatsu strength higher than her own impressive amount by just the barest of fractions told her that unlike Hierro, this defense didn't require a large margin of superiority to be effective, nor did she feel it give in the slightest upon impact like a Hierro would have done. All of this was valuable information, and in the end, let her know how to defeat the unknown defense.
After finishing up deciphering the defense, Myza felt the Quincy begin to change his bow. As he invested the energy to do so, Myza herself started investing some of her energy into a quick task, charging her Reiatsu as her opponent released. She finished at roughly the same time her opponent finished releasing his new bow, establishing her reiatsu as superior once again. Even better, while his weapon was changing into its new form, he would be virtually unable to do anything about her charging. By her knowledge, she would now be able to harm the Quincy, even with his defense active.
All that remained now was for her to finally respond to her newest victim, and his small-minded ideas about her beliefs. "Explain to you? Do you attempt to preach to a cockroach before you crush the life out of it? To convert termites before drowning them in poison? It is pointless for me to preach to a creature that is incapable of understanding the Lord's plan, and is unworthy of even existing in His plan. Now pay for your ignorance in blood and pain, filth."
Myza quickly flicked her wrist as she finished, bringing her chain back up to about level with Gilles' knees. As the chain moved up, Myza used her own stepping technique, the sound of Sonido buzzing in the air. She would move about five feet behind the Quincy with her step, her chain trailing behind her as she did so. If Gilles didn't somehow find a way to avoid the chain, it would impact his knees, dragging across them at just a little bit over half the speed of sound. The overall result of that would... be less than pleasant, especially considering that Gilles no longer had the protection of his Blut.
OOC: You're right, sorry 'bout that. Also, you had 1800 reiatsu in your post before the last one, and used 400 reiatsu in this latest post, meaning you should have 1400 instead of 1500 remaining reiatsu.
As Gilles released his Bow to the first level of Final Silence, Myza sharpened her reiatsu as he had previously done. This complicated things, as his reiatsu couldn't be sharpened repeatedly in quick succession to stay superior. With his superiority lost, he simply deactivated Blut since it wouldn't help him at all and would be a pure waste of energy to keep it active. He did, however, keep up Gate even though his arrows and step techniques would be doubled in cost to get up to the larger power level. As Gilles examined the charging Arrancar, she began to speak, explaining that he was a cockroach, an insect, someone of such inferiority that they were not allowed to exist. This provoked a chuckle from the Quincy. "You misunderstand Superiority. Superiority does not mean that you destroy those inferior and deny them the right to exist. No, it means that you laugh over their struggles to be something that they aren't - significant. You find entertainment and amusement in watching them run around, build their houses, amass wealth, only to have it wrenched away in the coming tide. Have you never seen an Ant Farm, a plaything of children?"
With a flick of her wrist, Myza's chain raised up and she was moving her foot forwards while gathering reiatsu to execute a step of extreme speed. As she used her Sonido, she might hear a small noise, a humming of reiatsu, coming from Gilles, but her less than athletic senses wouldn't be able to pick up exactly where it was, nor would she be able to react to it seeing as she had barely above-human reaction abilities and she was already in the process of using Sonido. Her eyes told her that there was no threat to her, and her abilities to sense energy wouldn't help her either as Pesquis only told her where Gilles was standing. At over 2300 stat speed she moved past Gilles, only to feel something slice into her stomach and feel her chain be wrenched to the side away from the Glass Castle. How had this been possible, for the Vandenreich to hurt her like this without even moving a muscle? It was Letzt Stil that had given him the edge in this exchange.
There was a reason why Gilles was known as the -Glass- Castle. Glass is used as a medium to see through, that doesn't obstruct light like stone walls do. The Quincy was capable of making arrows that were completely invisible to the eye and mostly invisible to all but the strongest energy sensory. He wasn't able to anticipate which side Myza would go to when she stepped past him, however he was able to prepare for both sides. He had placed an arrow to either side of him, pointed towards the original spot of the Arrancar, ready to fire off as he willed. As she stepped past she'd throw herself through either arrow depending on which side she went to, so whether or not Gilles was lucky for her to step to the correct side was irrelevant. There was also an arrow a good distance, a little less than a foot, in front of him that was sideways to stop the chain slightly. When the chain pressed into the arrow, the almost equal reiatsu strengths would cause neither to be broken so easily, which would allow the split second of time to cause the chain to be slightly curved.
Gilles stepped to the side away from Myza as this happened, which wasn't nearly fast enough to get away from the entire chain but was easily fast enough to create the distance required to deflect the chain without harming himself. As one end lagged behind the other, the middle of the side that was still attached to Myza's hand would be hit with an arrow that exploded with the force of a grenade as it hit, not being a big enough explosion to damage either Gilles or Myza, but large enough to exert force capable of redirecting the chain well outside the range that it was dangerous. Meanwhile, Myza would probably have finished the short sonido to find that her stomach had been torn into. It wasn't a terribly awful wound, however it would have sliced into blood vessels and maybe her intestines causing some internal bleeding. Her hierro had a tiny effect on the arrow, making the hole not as big as it could have been, but the real damage was internal rather than external. "Judge me on my inferiority -after- we've been through the hoops, ok?"
Remaining Reiatsu: 3300/5980 (-50 previous post Movement, -20 Class 7 arrow (chain delayer), -40 2x Class 7 arrows (Myza piercers), -40 Class 7 arrow + explosion, -50 Movement -100 Gate, -100 Letzt Stil 1, +300 Spirit Fragment, +500 Quincy Cross)

(OOC: Sorry about the long wait. Been out of posting inspiration for quite some time. However, I'm finally ready to get back in against you. Also, you're a bit off on your reiatsu calculations. Gate doubles the reiatsu cost for everything. So you're off by about 600 Reiatsu by my calculations. Just lettin' ya know.)
When the smoke cleared from the short span of time it had taken to perform the stepping technique, one thing was clearly evident: Nobody had gotten out of that exchange unscathed. Both combatants were now bleeding. The Quincy had taken a substantial risk, and now he had to live with the results.
Myza had indeed been hit by the arrow in her stomach, something that caused the female Arrancar no small amount of discomfort and displeasure. Though if Gilles had been hoping for it to stop her or slow her down, he would be sorely disappointed. She had taken far worse wounds than this in her long time as a Hollow, some of them even from Quincy. A mere flesh wound like the cut she had received in her side was simply an annoyance, and not much else.
Gilles, on the other hand, had something substantially more worrying to occupy himself with. The arrow he had placed sideways in front of the chain had done little to stop the barbed weapon, simply acting as a speed bump. So while the chain did indeed curve, it was less of a backwards motion than a simple upwards arc, though the portion that had hit the arrow still lagged behind. So while it did by him time to move and ready the explosive arrow, it didn't buy him enough to escape completely unscathed before he fired. Also working against him in this case was just his overall slow speed. His mind was fast, but even Myzaraphiston, easily the slowest among all arrancar, was able to wildly outclass him with her stepping technique. The chain still impacted his kneecaps, the barbed implement digging in some to the soft muscle and ligaments
However, what was causing the problems for both of them, more than anything else, had come from the detonation of the arrow Gilles had fired. Neither of them had the proper protection to defend against the force of the explosion, and neither were far from it in the first place. As such, both would be receiving a substantial amount of damage from the explosion. So while the explosive projectile was indeed successful in blowing away the chain, it also greatly injured the two combatants, mostly within their own internals. It wouldn't be enough to take either of them out of the fight by any means, but it was still a less than desirable situation.
Myza in particular wasn't enjoying the experience. Everywhere hurt inside of her, especially the arm that pitiful little maggot had fired near. She was lying on the ground a few feet away, the force of the explosion having sent her back a good 5 feet or so. She coughed, slowly working to get up from the ground, her entire body screaming out in protest the entire time. "You will pay for that one, Quincy...."
